(I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.)
I really loved this book. Equal parts sweet, spicy and funny. I loved the characters, I loved how healthy their relationship was. I also appreciated the fact that the third act conflict wasn't the formulaic miscommunication we see in so many other romances; this was serious, and I loved how it was handled. I also appreciated the Pittsburgh dictionary at the end (lol), as a non-American it came in mighty handy.
This was my first time reading anything from Sheridan Jeane but I can promise it won't be my last.
Such a fun read! I really enjoyed From Bitter to Sweet. There was a bit of relatability to the main character, you feel her struggle and you want her to win in life. Joining her along a journey from heartache and heartbreak is sweet. I would recommend this for older teens and up.
Thank you Netgalley for an arc of From Bitter to Sweet by Sheridan Jeane
Sweet and cute and I liked how both characters were careful to be honest with each other because they were both burned in the past. To be honest, they were so... "perfect" with each other from the moment they starting dating, that I was looking forward to the third-act breakup. Just because of how legitimately perfect the relationship was (by that I mean everyone was saying/doing the best possible thing in response to each other) it was a little hard to trust that it would stay that way, and so I was looking for some tension.
There is a large cast of characters and I can guess who book 1 and 2 are about, but for the most part, there wasn't anything I was confused by, since this was the first book of the series I'd picked up.
The reconciliation after the fight was a little... weird to me [because he proposed? after his ex pretended she was pregnant so he would propose, only for him to find out it was a lie (hide spoiler)] because we didn't see much buildup of that decision in Kincaid's mind and I personally thought it was a bit out of character, especially with his history.
But overall, I highly enjoyed this read. It was quick and easy and made me very hungry, so I'm glad the recipes are listed at the end lol
thank you Netgalley for the free copy
This was a very sweet book! I really enjoyed getting to have a chance to read it from NetGalley in advance.
I very much enjoyed that it didn’t take forever for the main characters to get together. I feel like many romance novels I read, they get together, something big happens, they don’t like each other, and then they get back together at the very end. This book was refreshing because I got to see a pretty healthy relationship happen throughout most of the book. Another thing, I loved was that fact that it touched on infertility. Many people suffer from this and I don’t feel like the emotions that come with it happen often.
I also loved that they included recipes and Pittsburg’s language decoder at the end of the story.
