This is such a cute book on parenting. It shows an honest portrayal of parenthood, made cute by featuring cats. I liked how there was chapter on the just the couple without the kids. There's also animal based humour, which was interesting. Although I read a digital copy, a printed version would have been better since each chapter title had a flipper where you flip the pages for an animated effect. Recommended!
An absolutely relatable and hilarious read. I love the antics of this kitty family and was so glad to get an advanced copy of this book. Every last bit of it was relatable from the random things kids shout in public to the pop culture dousing. Utterly delightful.
The best parent book I have ever read. The humor mixed with the beautiful yet fun illustrations just immediately took me by suprise. But don't let the adorable nature of the book fool you, it is absolutely a war journal. Having a little demon toddler myself, I am in the depths of that war myself. As depicted in the book, parenting is both amazing as well as chaotic. It is the most wonderful soul crushing endeavour.
The story itself is presented in short comic sets that depict moments from paranting life. Reminiscent of a mix between Confessions of a Texan in Tokyo meets Go to Sleep (I miss you). There was also an interactive and fun elements (flippers, baby bingo, word search, draw by number). Fantastic! Brought me back to Captain Underpants days as a kid myself. Everything about this book felt like perfection. A full on laugh out loud, constantly giggling experience.
A super fun comic collection by @litterbox/Chesca Hause for parents. This is an adult comic based on language aspects, but it's a very bright and humorous read. I absolutely loved this and will likely be picking up a copy of it. It's a great read that I'll be recommending!
Hilarious. Comic and great to have all the best in one collection. I love reading these online and enjoyed them in book format as well.
So so so sooooo cute. Learned how a hyena gives birth and have since shared this crucial knowledge with anyone willing to listen. I really love little books like these, I have a pile I reread whenever I'm slumpy so this one will be added to said pile.
THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED IN A "PARENTING" BOOK. It's so relatable and cute and funny, even if it is a family of cats. Humans will definitely be able to relate to this book for sure. I will be buying a personal copy of this book for myself and recommending it for purchase for my library.
Thanks to NetGalley!
Nope, definitely didn't cry reading this. Definitely not. For sure not when my own 3 year old Cooper came up and gave me unexpected cuddles WHILE I read it. That would be silly. Nope. Can't prove it.
But seriously. This was awesome - as a mom to a young boy, this hit home so hard. Motherhood is hard but it's also magical and hilarious, something this comic captures purrr-fectly (see what I did there?). Highly recommend this for anyone, especially parents!
This was very fun and relatable for any parent or person who works with young children.
It’s mini slice of life or Instagram panel sized comics on a themed subject (new baby, calls from school, screen time, etc). The characters are a millennial-seeming mom and dad who are parenting a 3 and 6 year old. The characters are cats and the two kiddos are boys. There are lots of pop culture references to Star Wars, Disney, and Minecraft but if you aren’t familiar it doesn’t take away from the humor.
It would be perfect for a waiting room or as a gift too!
The art style is bright and vibrant with bold lines.
This book described the last 7 years of my life to a T. Cats or humans, kids be crazy. I loved the illustrations and all the jokes. 10/10
This is the BEST thing ever. I HAD to read this graphic novel, because I adore the artist, her humor and her cartoons so much. I've followed her on instagram for ages and her comics getting turned into a graphic novel is fabulous. I will definitely be grabbing a physical copy once it's been released.
For anyone that doesn't know the artist; If you want to know what it's like for two nerdy Star Wars loving parents to wrangle kids, this is the comic for you.
A funny little slice of life comic book about parenting, staring cats.
This was super cute! I related to just about all of the strips, especially the strips about kids talking about or playing minecraft (mine are OBSESSED), stubborn kids not wanting to do anything you ask them (that strip about trying to get a kid to put their shoes on only to have them....show up with less clothes was PERFECTION), and OMG who could forget the strip about distracting your kids so that you can eat junk food without having to share! Yeah, I can really relate to that one.
I really liked this book, it's funny, relatable, and honestly makes you feel just a little bit seen as a parent. Definitely pick this one up if you like slice of life, funny comics.
This book was really cute and I loved the drawings. The comics were relatable but unfortunately I didn't find it that funny. However, I will most likely be checking out more of Hause's work as I really did enjoy her drawing style.
literally. thank you for this.
post partum depression made me hate a lot of things
i needed some lol's back
thank you so so so much
This was a cute, funny and relatable book of comic about parenting. I laughed out loud a few times and chuckled many more. The drawings were vibrant with expressive faces.
As a new parent, I absolutely loved this! It’s cute and heartwarming and hilarious! The art is colorful and fun. The stories of their family made me smile, laugh, and make me look forward to when my son is older (and sometimes not look forward to it when they get into shenanigans). It made me feel better as a new mom that there are good times and bad times and everything in between.
I have been following the artist on instagram for a while now, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the graphic novel/comic up for review! The decision to represent her family as cats, the decision to combine the antics of young children and curious cats was the absolute best. As cat mom I definitely relate more to the feline frenzy rather than the chaos that kids represent but it's all absolutely lovely and I can't get enough of this series.
Reading this at nine months pregnant and I feel like I’ve glimpsed the future and it is both hilarious and terrifying. This comic was just a joy to read and definitely mixed some cute comedy with some very realistic slice of life moments. A must read for parents who are looking for something to relate to. The illustrations are perfect and the humor very spot on.
Parenting Is Weird by Chesca Hause masterfully illustrated and so darn accurate! The characters expressions and the day to day chaos of parenting is captured perfectly as the family goes through each developmental stage. The author/illustrator imbues each page with a bit of humor and poignancy that made me laugh along with the kids antics. This was a light and happy read that I would recommend to parents everywhere!

It's a funny book about parenting as if its cat & not humans. Great book & super fun fast easy read
