Taco Falls Apart is an uplifting story about the power of positive thoughts. The Taco is taught how to use affirmations by their friends. I enjoyed the message behind this adorable story.

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

This was such a cute story! I will definitely be reading it with my kids again. Even tacos fall apart, we all have our moments and might feel negatively about ourselves, just like taco. I like the help that tacos friends give and show how it’s ok to tell others how you’re feeling and reach out for help. Love the taco metaphor and lesson taught in this book! Thank you Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book.

This is a book I will definitely be purchasing to help my own child with unhelpful thinking patterns.

Taco thinks he can't hold everything together anymore and begins to fall apart. But with the help of nacho and his Taco toppings friends, he'll learn how our thoughts, feelings, and actions ask work together and how to change a negative cycle.

Really helpful backmatter.

I'll never look at a Taco the same way again. The strength it takes to be a Taco! The grit!

This delightful little book simply connects the power of positive self talk with the power of action. It provides young ones with an evidence based strategy for dealing with the "I can'ts."

If a Taco can do it, so can I!

Such a cute book! Readers who are fans of Stick and Stone and The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors will enjoy reading it. It can be a little preachy and text heavy at time but it teaches a great lesson for kids in a fun way. I love the humor the author adds.

When Taco falls apart, he starts to worry that he’ll never be good enough to hold himself together. Thankfully, his foodie friends (and their punny selves) help him to change how he thinks, which helps his feelings and actions in regards to himself.

This absolutely precious book takes the theme of negative self-talk and gives a method of “Think-Feel-Do” to change your perspective, which then helps to change your thought process, feelings, and actions in a way that is more positive to a child’s self image.

With Taco Falls Apart, Brenda S. Miles brings a familiar and enjoyable environment—namely, the environment of food—to life in simple yet meaningful ways. Taco, the main character, bears the weight of high expectations, as practically everyone does at different parts in their lives. The hard-shell, strong friend tasked with (literally) holding his friends together, eventually crumbles, feeling as though he's not good enough. Here, Miles brings in a highly practical thought line: THINK, FEEL, DO. In easily quantifiable and progressive steps, this thesis does not confuse young readers; rather it makes the goal of self-confidence easily attainable. Miles here has written a fun, engaging, and meaningful children's book, which acknowledges human (or taco) shortcomings while ending on a hopeful message of finding self-worth.

A great book for little ones about their mindset and trying to find the positive when they feel down about themselves. Taco is feeling down, and the other foods help him through his down moment. It may be hard at first, and at the end, Taco still has his moments where he falls apart, but has his friends to help pick him up when he is down.

This was a cute little story I read it with my children 11 and 4 when we had a discussion on feelings . They both really liked the book and it brought up some good questions and some really good conversation for us it was a little short but the premise of the book is fantastic . Positive thinking leads to positive feelings 4/5

The artwork in this book was really nice and super cute, and I totally get the message beyond the words and the pictures. But I'm not quite sure that the taco idea works well because it's a taco and they are meant to be eaten. And once it has fallen apart, it really doesn't get put back together again. But apart from that, I think that this did a good job speaking to the idea of a child being anxious over not being perfect, about having things that aren't going well, and learning to really celebrate themselves. The idea that food would have this crisis of this sort is kind of cute, and the way that each of the fillings react and say something positive about taco is neat. But the chip seemed a bit harsh, especially when it was talking about how thinking you are terrible leads you to do nothing which is terrible. The meaning is there, but for a child reading this, even with a parent who can explain, it may be a bit too harsh and almost critical to the point where the positive message gets lost.

All in all, a good conversation starter for seeing the good in yourself and others.

4⭐️

Very cute story with important take always for children. Teachinh young kids that it's ok for things to not always go right not will they. There will be times when we feel like when we're failing but have to try to not make it define us

The illustrations are detailed, captivating, and beautiful. I would recommend this to any parent with preschool or elementary aged kids.

Thank you to Net Galley and American Psychological Association for this advanced reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.

#qotd : What are your go-to Taco toppings?

A huge thank you to NetGalley and the APA with Magination Press for my digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

"Meet Taco. The world expects so much from him... tacos must stay strong without much support, tacos must stay open without much room, and tacos must keep it all together, all the time! With all these expectations piling on, Taco starts wonder if he has what it takes to be a terrific taco. Can he even do this? Should he even try? As his thoughts start to pester him, Taco's shell starts to crack and his toppings begin to tumble, and Taco falls apart!"

This book was sweet and wonderful and all too relatable, even as an adult. Taco and his friends help teach the reader about thinking mistakes, self-talk, and confidence. Just like tacos, we all fall apart sometimes, but it doesn't have to prove the end of the world. I am so loving all these mental health books coming out for children. I love that we are teaching children through beautiful illustrations and relatable wording how to handle feelings and thoughts and behaviors. Keep it up, y'all!

This was an adorable story with a great message for kids! The formatting on the e-galley was tricky to follow but I will definitely be buying a copy of this for my 8 year old to read.

I am going to purchase this book ASAP! I love the message and all the puns. It made me giggle and I think kids will really enjoy it. Mental health is a hot topic, but this book makes it relatable to kids. Excellent book! I will recommend it to everyone!

I know this book is more about how falling down is ok, but also…be a mess. People love tacos, even when they’re messy. Allow yourself to be a loved, messy taco and never trust people who don’t like tacos.

A adorable and brilliant way to teach kids that its okay to not be okay and that despite having off days and feeling down, that it’s normal and that things can get better. This was a sweet story and honestly, a great way to show kids that despite having bad days there can be good days and that despite going through rough times, you can get back up and try again. Seriously, I really loved the way this book brought up the subject of feeling down and getting back up. I would definitely recommend this book!
