I have really been enjoying the Dr. Kate Vet Mystery series! Murders of a Feather is the third book in the series, and it’s just as delightful as the first two.

I adore Kate, Mari (the vet tech), and Cindy (the super-organized, efficient, health-conscious, friendly receptionist), the series main characters. I’ve also grown to love the regular side characters. A new character, Dr. Mike (a handsome, friendly vet from a clinic in another town), is introduced. And, of course, there are the characters who only appear in this book. All of the characters are well-written and play their parts well. Who’s the murderer? Pay attention to all of the characters!

The clues to solving this mystery are skillfully woven into the story. You’re never quite sure which clues are really clues and which are red herrings. It makes the mystery puzzling which is a good thing. You don’t want to figure out whodunit until close to the end!

I definitely recommend Murders of a Feather for its great characters and its baffling mystery!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Murders Of A Feather is the 3rd Dr Kate Vet Mysteries and this is the best one. The Che are likable and interesting. The cozy mystery kept me guessing. Dr Kate is running Oak Falls Animal Hospital for a year while Doc Anderson is away. Kate meets Dr Mike at a client's house and they hit it off just in time for Valentines Day. Kate's coworkers and friends, Mari and Cindy really add to the story. Cindy goes on vacation for a week and.Babs fills in for her. Kate and.Mari are out on a call and find a couple both dead. Later on, they return to the Animal Hospital to find Babs dead. It really upset them all and they need to find the killer. There are a few suspects but a twist in the story kept me guessing. The pets and crows added to the story. This was an enjoyable cozy mystery. #MurderOfAFeather. #DrKateVetMysteries

This is the 3rd book in the series but the first I have read. A fun read with many great characters, both furry and human. I love reading about all the different animals and situations. You can really tell the author knows what she is writing about as I have had very similar experiences recently having lost a beloved pet and wasn't surprised to read she was a vet. The mystery was interesting and I didn't guess the answer before it was revealed. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

An interesting cozy mystery. Lots of animal stories intertwined with the murders. It kept me guessing. A smidgeon of romance. Good friends. A great series for animal lovers. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Dr Kate and her vet tech Mari find themselves investigating the deaths of two people they find in the woods and then.......a temporary employee at the vet clinic dies there. Are the three deaths connected? Kate, an intrepid amateur investigator, does a good job of sorting through the noise even as she gets romantic feelings from a large animal vet, it's Valentines Day, btw, so there romance is on her mind (mostly she bemoans her personal situation), This is in many ways classic cozy stuff (she even has a beloved grandfather to talk to about the clues) but it's distinguished by the fact that Kate's a cat. And the crows. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read that will be fine as a standalone.

I gave Murders of a Feather by Eileen Brady 4 stars

It's February in the Hudson Valley and Oak Falls veterinarian Dr. Kate is once again up to her galoshes in corpses Hudson Valley winters can be brutal…and deadly!

Dr. Kate is once again on the case (not to mention thin ice) after discovering a young engaged couple frozen to death in the lake. To make matters worse, her temporary receptionist appears to have overdosed from a recreational sedative used at the animal hospital.

Kate barely has time to dread Valentine's Day (and the fact that she's alone on this holiday, once again) as the police investigation shows that all three fatalities are in fact homicides. But who would want the young couple dead, just as they were embarking on a new life together? And who pumped the temp employee full of enough animal tranquilizers to drop an ox?

-------- REVIEW --------

The third installment in Dr. Kate Vet Mystery series. As with the previous books, this was a fun read with many great characters, both furry and not furry. I love reading about all the different patients at the animal hospital. You can really tell the author knows what she is writing about.

The mystery was interesting, but it felt a bit darker than previous books. Even the cover look ominous to me. It is supposed to be Valentine's Day but feel more like Halloween, haha.

I really missed Kate's grandpa in this book. He was such a big part of her sleuthing in the two previous books, but he was only present via the phone in this one. I don't know why that changed. Hope he will be back more in the next book. Can't wait to read it!

This book comes out 03 Oct.

Thank you, Net Galley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Dr. Kate can be pretty whiny. She bemoans the lack of a boyfriend in the runup to Valentine’s Day at least four times inWhen José Florez is found dead in the snow with a gunshot wound in the chest while his fiancée Alicia Ramsey is found drowned in a nearby frozen lake in New York’s Hudson Valley, the presumption is that it was a murder-suicide. Readers know that can’t be right, or there wouldn’t be a novel in the first place. Veterinarian Dr. Kate Turner,

Murders of a Feather is the third book in the Dr. Kate Vet series, not to be confused with author Eileen Brady’s other series, Kate Turner, DVM. Why split the novels into two series? It’s just one more odd aspect of Brady’s writing.

Dr. Kate can be pretty whiny. She bemoans the lack of a boyfriend in the runup to Valentine’s Day at least four times in the first chapter. Yikes! Desperate much? But, all in all, Dr. Kate is kind of a cipher in her own book. Brady also has a hard time providing background info for readers approaching this book without having read the previous books. That makes for quite a bit of clunky prose, especially in the first few chapters.

As I read, I realized that I didn’t care about the investigation, the questionable death of their temp receptionist, and especially Dr. Kate and her pals. Brady’s prose meanders with little sense of suspense or even interest. Finally, when I was at nearly the 40 percent mark, I remembered how short life is — too short to have to force one’s self to finish lousy books.

I adored this cozy mystery! The group of characters were fantastic, and I loved the setting. I enjoyed the plot twists and the mystery. It was well paced and well written!

Murders of a Feather is the first I've read in this series, but it can stand alone. It follows Dr. Kate a small town veterinarian in Hudson Valley, NY. It follows a mystery surrounding a dead couple found by Dr. Kate and her assistant Mari. How did they end up in the woods in the winter, and was their deaths suicide or murder? With the police chief out of town and then a woman found dead in the veterinary hospital, Dr. Kate dives into the case to find out the truth. There's also a bit of romance, the book is set around Valentine's day after all. I loved the crows that befriend Dr. Kate as well. An enjoyable read!

It was no surprise to to me to discover at the end that the author is a veterinarian. There were so many tidbits of information about the career field that added an extra layer of interest to the story for me. I think the acne one was the most interesting!

I enjoyed the pacing and the romantic subplot. There were enough options for potential suspects that I didn’t have it figured out before the reveal. There are a few instances of expletives and of course violence, but it’s a story I’d feel comfortable sharing with both my teens and my own parents. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for more of Dr. Kate!

This was such a fun little cozy read with all the elements that keep a solid series moving forward. Even though this is the third Dr. Kate Vet Mystery, it is the first one I’ve read. I did not feel lost at all, but do want to go back and read the first two.

As a young vet working in a small animal clinic in the Hudson Valley, Dr. Kate has her hands full with her job. Finding bodies is not in her plans, but it seems like, as with so many cozy mystery protagonists, it’s unavoidable for her. When one of the bodies is a coworker and died in the clinic surgery, Kate can’t help but track down the clues and run some ideas by the handsome large animal vet she meets in her travels. The quirky and interesting animals make the story more fun.

This was a satisfying read for a cozy mystery lover such as myself. The ending scenes were a bit overdone for me, but this did not detract from my overall enjoyment.

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press, Netgalley, and the author for early access to this mystery..

I enjoyed this cozy mystery.. This author has written many books, all of them cozy mysteries. This is my first one of hers
This story is about Dr. Kate, who is a veterinarian in the Hudson valley, She discovers a young couple, frozen to death in the lake and murdered. And to make matters worse, Her temporary receptionist at the clinic appears to have overdosed from a sedative used at the animal hospital. So the police are trying to investigate these three homicides and Kate decides that things aren’t right and she needs to get involved and try to figure out what’s going on. She s very close with her Grandfather and he gives her advice and tips from his past experiences to get Kate moving in the right direction towards figuring who is involved. This dead couple was just getting ready to be married, so why would he kill her then Himself? Also, the temporary employee who was filled with animal tranquilizers, they think she committed suicide. Kate doesn’t believe that is true The employee has a lot of experience and history working in veterinarian clinics for decades and was very satisfied and looking towards retirement and travel. Kate also meets another veterinarian who is working close by and he helps Kate take care of large animals and farm animals and she becomes enamored with him. So the story continues about how she delved into this mystery and tries to figure out what’s going on. it’s written very well, the story flows seamlessly. I think it ended a little quickly though in my opinion. All of a sudden in one paragraph here’s the murderer! it was not a great surprise but it was still fun and I enjoyed reading it. The characters were developed very well and I got to know them, and enjoyed them. I was rooting for them throughout. I would recommend this book. Animals throughout which is a win! I would give this 3.75 stars .

Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press (Sourcebooks) for the opportunity to read this Advanced Reading Copy for free. I am providing my feedback voluntarily.

My impression was this novel tried to be many things at the same time which lessened the impact of each individual aspect. It began with a lot of emphasis on romance, Valentine’s Day and a dog named Cupid. It seemed to try to educate the reader on veterinary medicine, the things that can be encountered, the people met, the decision to work in various fields as a vet. Lastly, there is a murder mystery which the vet tries to solve because apparently the police are having trouble. As a result, I thought this book was just ok. I didn’t feel a connection to it.

This is the third in a series of Dr Kate so I’m not sure if my opinion would be different if I had read the first two and had more of a connection to the characters.

Dr. Kate finds 3 bodies, one of which was her temporary receptionist. Good cozy mystery. If you like following the clues, dogs, cats and crows, you will like this one. Highly recommend.

This is the third book in a great series. There’s a great storyline and lots of information on the main character who is a veterinarian there is several people that end up dying and the main character’s left to see why. The main mystery is the connection to those who have died. Story line involves lots of animals as well.

Murders of a Feather by Eileen Brady is the next in a cozy series featuring Hudson Valley Veterinarian Dr. Kate and her Vet Tech Mari and of course, the story being set around Valentine's Day, maybe an interesting large animal Vet they meet. When Kate and Mari are flagged down they end up finding two bodies, who turn out to be murdered. Then, the fill in receptionist is murdered also so they have to figured out three murders without being harmed themselves. A very fun read.

It's February and Dr. Kate is dreading Valentine's day and the fact their receptionist is going on Holiday. While on a house call Kate and her vet tech are flagged down by a man. When they stop he leads them to a dead body. Dr. Kate sees a pink hair scrunchie further into the woods and Mari takes off to see if someone else is in need of help. When they get to the dropped hair band, they realize that someone is floating under the ice of the nearby lake. Kate doesn't know who the two victims are and she resolves to stay out of the investigation. When her temporary receptionist is found dead in the clinic's surgical suite, Kate has to start asking question and find out who the killer is.
I really like the characters, and the atmosphere and of course I love the stories of the animals that come to the clinic. The book is well written and the mystery is well done. I'm not one to dislike a book when I figure out who did the crime before the main character, but I did not figure this one out at all.

As an animal lover who has an amazing veterinarian team I was immediately drawn to this ARC offered to me by NetGalley and the publisher.
I haven’t read the first two books in the series (but will remedy that quickly) but was able to easily get drawn into the story and the characters. Dr. Kate Turner is managing a practice in the rural Hudson Valley while the owner is on a year long leave when she and her vet tech, Mari, get pulled into an apparent murder/suicide. When another death hits closer to home she Kate finds herself doubting the police explanations, and soon begins discovering numerous ties between the victims and suspects. With the Valentine holiday looming Kate’s personal relationships, or lack there off also is a nice addition to the mystery.
Dr. Kate, Mari, Cindy and the other characters are believable, and the animals, pets and otherwise, make the story even better. I’ve already added the author to my watch/notification alerts so I don’t miss her future books.
