This sweet little novella made for a quick read! It was predictable, for the most part, but the story was lighthearted and enjoyable.
Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC.
I was recommended this author by a friend and I'm really glad that I listened to them. This book was everything I needed to get me out of my reading slump.
Indy was unbelievably easy to relate to and was a flawed character that I absolutely loved. Ethan was dreamy and absolutely perfect. I loved the dynamic and banter between the two main characters and I'm glad they got their happy ending. I can't wait to read more from this author.
I was really surprised with how much I loved this novella. It was predictable but in that mom's cooking kinda way. Just an overall feel good cute romance story about a woman who cannot read between the lines and Mr. Right.
I recommend this super quick read, what do you have to lose?
Thank you, Netgalley, and Victory Editing for the ARC.
It's been a while since I read a book in the romance genre, but I'm excited to dive back in and see what this one has to offer. And I'm glad I started with this book. It's a delightful surprise.
I found it impossible to put the book down because the characters are likeable and the plot is well-written. Indy's personality, Ethan's composure and Nick's quirkiness created an intriguing dynamic.
The author's writing style is also beautiful and descriptive, making it easy to visualize the characters and their surroundings. The plot twists and turns kept me engaged throughout the entire book, and I found myself rooting for the characters until the very end. Overall, it was a compelling read that left me wanting more from this talented author.
Personally, I am not a big fan of descriptive steamy and spicy scenes, but in that chapter, it is rather relevant to the plot at that time, so they are indeed appropriate.
If I say anything else, I risk revealing the plot, so in conclusion, it's a delightful book that will leave you satisfied and content.
Organization for the win ;)
This is so hot - swoony and sassy and steamy and so much fun. Ethan is a gorgeous book boyfriend, challenging and sooooo masculine, but always kind. Indy is a mess of anxiety and insecurity and creativity and romanticism - and tatts. Talk about good together. This felt quite dreamy to begin with, probably because it's set in a fictional town, feels a bit American, but not completely. The shorter length meant it was an easy read, but still long enough for the characters to develop, along with their jobs, hobbies and the friendship and support of Indy's bestie. Steam was off the charts when we got there, and the Acknowledgements are a hoot.
So looking forward to all Dani's other stories. Five stars!
Thank you thank you NetGalley, Victory Editing and the author for the ARC.
Indy O'Neall believes in Fate so heavily. Her great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents all have an amazing love story. But she's still missing her. A successful author, she's writing her last book in the series, where the main character finally meets her love interest. But Indy's never been in love. She believes her one true love was Nick, her teenage boyfriend. But now it's been fifteen years, and she's no closer to love now than she was then. Believing that Nick is the answer to her prayers, she goes to find him. Instead, she runs into Ethan Fraser, the hot cousin of Nick who is absolutely gorgeous. Indy and Ethan both need to see Nick, but they keep missing him while running into each other. Ethan is charming and lovely and an absolute sweetheart. But he's not her Destiny, and he's not her Fate. But does Indy think you can change your own Fate?
This is the second novella I've read by Dani McLean, and they just get better. Ethan is the perfect fictional man. It's clear that Dani leaned into the 'write what you know' idea. Indy is an author attempting to write about love but has never been in love. I've seen this before. Regardless, this was enticing. Indy and Ethan are a perfect match. They complement each other well, and Ethan literally compliments her all the time. He's clearly falling for her, but he's helping her reach his cousin, who she believes could be The One. Ethan absolutely melts my heart because he cares so sweetly and pushes Indy just enough. I love their dynamic and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book to avoid my responsibilities. Indy isn't as adventurous as Riley Jones, the main character of her series. But Ethan makes her want to try. I received this ARC as a member of NetGalley. This is set to publish May 16, 2023.
I cannot express how much I loved this book, I devoured it in one sitting. This is my first time reading any of Dani McLean's work and I will immediately be adding more to my library.
I absolutely adored Indy and Ethan, their chemistry was incredible and their banter had me smiling non stop. I honestly wasn't expecting much in terms of forming a connection with the characters due to it only being a novella but I was so pleasantly surprised. I was routing for them from the start and was so so happy with the ending. This was a lovely, sweet, funny romance and the spicy scene was incredible too.
A quick and sweet lightheaded read.
The romance seemed genuine and the small number of characters was refreshing and made this book more enjoyable. I was very pleasantly surprised by the sex scene; it wasn't boring while still managing to not be over the top - not an easy feat.
Sometimes it did feel like the author had a list of topics that she felt she needed to address and it was kind of awkwardly done, and the plot twist was obvious from the begining, but it didn't really matter.
Overall I enjoyed this book and it definitely put me in a good mood!
I loved Dani McLean's novella, It Has To Be You, and cannot wait to get to her backlist.
Indy has always believed in destiny and fate. When a fortune teller told her as a teen she was with her happily ever after, she believes it. Which is why she's now holding a bracelet Nick gave her fifteen years ago.
Indy is determined to give Nick the bracelet back and restart their relationship. What she doesn't prepare for is running into Ethan, the handsome cousin who's also on a mission to talk to Nick. Quickly, Indy's friends are trying to get her to see Ethan for who he truly is. The only problem? He isn't who she believes the fortune teller was talking about.
I found that I couldn't put down Dani McLean's latest. I adored Ethan's character.. he's a teacher who passes out dinosaur stickers and makes models for them. The pacing flowed well and the chapters were appropriately placed.
Thank you Dani for my earc in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own!
Listen, Indy was frustrating and annoying but she was so relatable and fun. This was such a sweet novella! I wasn't expecting it to be this short but I loved the romance that was packed into it.
Thank you Netgalley and Victory Editing for the ARC ❤️
“Fate doesn’t act alone. She’ll show you the path, but you must walk it yourself.”
If you are looking for a sweet romantic novella to read in one sitting this is it. Indy, as frustrating as she could be, was so relatable. I think we all have times when we get stuck in our own heads and question ourselves.
Ethan was such a great love interest. I loved how he talked about his journey to becoming a teacher. I do wish we got more scenes with his twin though.
This was the perfect way to end my day. I’ll be picking up more of these novellas for sure.
