This was a cute read and just right amount of story for a novella. If you want a quick read for a readathon this novella series would be a great pick.
This is a fun and sizzling read. I loved this rom com, the characters were lovable. I liked the unexpected love, with her technically looking for his cousin. loved it.
I loved reading this one. I just love this kind of books.
4 stars read for me. I love this author snd her writing style.
Thanks to netgally for this arc.
“It Has To Be You” is a cute quick read romantic comedy featuring engaging banter, laughs, and the “warm and fuzzies” we love about the genre. The satisfying slow burn romance between main characters Ethan and Indy is peppered with witty comebacks, swoon worthy moments, and just the right amount of spice. I quickly fell in love with Ethan as a book boyfriend and the chemistry between him and Indy.
Romance lovers will love this one!
When Indy was a teenager, she visited a fortune teller. The fortune teller told her that her favorite sports team would win, she would become an author and that her soulmate was the man that owned the bracelet that sat upon Indy's wrist. The first two had come true so fifteen years later, Indy is in search for Nick, the man who gave her the bracelet. In the midst of searching for Nick, Indy meets his cousin Ethan. Both have their own motives for trying to find Nick. Throughout this short story, Indy and Ethan form a connection which soon grows into something more. I loved Indy and Ethan's character was a sweetie. The story is short but a nice little romance
this put me in a slump and then trying to finish it to get it off my currently reading its just gonna push me back into a slump worse. Ive gotten like 90% through the only 200ish pages and I just cannot finish it. I didn't like the first couple in the series I read but I read them first to get a better picture for this review....
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book
Everything I could want out of a novella, I loved Indy and Ethan's story and it gave me all the feels. I felt so frustrated by Indy towards the end but the ending really brought it home for me....it was all levels of steamy!

4.5⭐️
First of all let me say this, Ethan quickly became a new favourite book boyfriend 😍 after reading this.
Dani McLean's 'It Has To Be You' hit that perfect spot for me. I really adored this feel good book. I found myself smiling throughout.
“Indy, you’re the kind of special I never could have wished for. Because I didn’t think it existed.” He brushed her cheek so gently. Always gentle. “I had convinced myself that magic didn’t exist, and then this gorgeous woman came along, talking about fate and soulmates, and she was everything I ever wanted. And do you know what? It made me want to believe.”

In a book slump
This book is so adorable and so cosy, a very quick read with a fun premise that played out just like a movie, and although I guessed what the twist was from very early on, it didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the book at all, not in the slightest bit.
The characters were so lovable.
It's sad it was just a short novella!!
I really recommend this if you're looking for a quick read or perhaps a book to get you out of your reading slump.
Thank you NetGalley & Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for this e-arc
This was a quick read. Characters were blah. Found myself bored more than anything. It doesn’t pull you in, doesn’t leave you wanting more.
The only thing I have negative to say about this is that it was too short (albeit, that is kind of the point of a novella!)
Ethan and Indy had such amazing chemistry and I loved seeing their relationship blossom. They both had really strong and relatable character traits and I found myself unable to stop reading.
Thank you Netgalley and Victory Editing Netgelley Co-op for the ARC. I received this ARC about a week before the official release so the novella is available as of the 16th of May✨
I found out about this through a fellow bookstagrammer and immediately applied for an ARC after reading her review. Having never read one of Dani Mclean’s books before, I can say with 100% certainty I’ll be going back and reading all the other books in her Movie Magic Novellas series.
I absolutely adored Indy and Ethan in this book. As a character, Indy was wonderfully relatable and authentic. Whilst reading this novella, she was 100% real to me and I identified with her so deeply it sometimes felt as if the author had seen into my most hidden depths and laid them bare.
Ethan as the MMC was absolute perfection and he gas firmly solidified his place in my heart amongst the top ranking book boyfriends out there. His ability to see Indy so wholly, accept her for who and what she is in her entirety and give her all the space and support she needs to be just that is what dream partners are made of. He is the definition of the whole package and the love story between these characters was so beautiful, convincing and perfectly paced that I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Their chemistry was perfection from the get-go and I would have read 400 more pages of them if I could. It’s a testament to the author’s writing skills that she was able to create such a special, finished love story in just over 100 pages.
Furthermore, I absolutely loved the theme of Fate that played a role through the whole novella, and although I had guessed from the start that Indy’s perceptions of Fate would be drastically altered from what she believed she had learned from her visit to the psychic, it was special to watch her preconceived notions of her fate change as the story progressed.
I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, uplifting, relatable slow-burn romance. I’d move to Chance in a heartbeat, but I’ll have to be satisfied with reading Dani’s other novellas❤️
Thank you @danimcleanwrites for this wonderful addition to the romance genre! All opinions are my own.

Ha sido un libro predecible. Bastante sencillo.

It was a predictable book. Fairly straightforward. No drama. A fairly quick read. Enjoyable despite guessing early on the revelation of the ending.
I don't have much to say about this story.
Indy seeks to reunite with a love from his teenage years to see if it's true that he is her destiny, however, he keeps running into the cousin of the one who is supposed to be the love of his life.
It Has to Be You is a heartwarming novella filled with second chances, first impressions, and the fickle hand of fate.
Indy O’Neall comes from a long line of soulmates—so when she encounters a fortune teller she can’t resist asking if her boyfriend Nick is the one. Fifteen years later, fate grants Indy a second chance with Nick, but with a catch.
Ethan Fraser is an attractive and adventurous teacher who keeps crossing paths with Indy. Is Nick her soulmate or is it possible Ethan is The One after all?
This is a story of an ordinary woman thrust into unique circumstances, but Indy’s reluctance to step out of her comfort zone feels relatable. The playful banter, sizzling tension, and attraction with Ethan are undeniable and seeing Indy be shaken and stirred makes for a fun read.
Fans of contemporary romance will enjoy this enchanting tale of second chances and the unexpected path to true love.
Such a cute novella! The love interest, Ethan, is so hot and I loved their flirting, There was just enough conflict for a novella and nothing felt over dramatic. The spice at the end was excellent as well :) Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc!
If there’s one thing Indy is certain of, it’s that one day she will meet her soulmate, just like her parents and their parents before them. According to a psychic, it’s Nick - a guy she dated fifteen years ago. In order to have her chance at true love, Indy attempts to find Nick again, yet the only person she can get a hold of is Ethan, Nick’s handsome cousin. Luckily, Ethan is also looking for Nick, so the two pair up to find him together.
This book was cute. I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters and the way it developed. Ethan was so goddamn sweet - I’m a sucker for a kind love interest so this was right up my alley. The writing was good, I liked the light-hearted, comedic tone. All the romantic elements of the novella were done really well, but something I did struggle with was the whole ‘fate’ thing. Indy blindly trusts that there’s a person out there destined to be hers and is guided by the words of a psychic to essentially hunt down an ex she hasn’t seen in fifteen years. That was fine (not personally my cup of tea, but I get it), what irked me the most was the stalkerish ways in which she tried to get in contact with Nick. I can respect that she has strong beliefs, and that’s why she’s set on Nick being her soulmate, but for a majority of the novella she is going places he frequents in hopes of bumping into him, and it’s a little unnerving (maybe this is just me?). Indy continues to try and find Nick, even though she has Ethan, who’s an absolute catch (and into her), by her side. It just felt a little silly, especially when her and Ethan got along so well and would obviously make a good couple.
In saying that, I do really like how it all wrapped up in the end. Everything fell into place quite seamlessly. The romance was sweet, and overall I had a good time.
Such a cute read!!
Indy thinks Nick, her ex is her future. Insert Ethan, the hot teacher and queue the slow burn.
Absolutely loved it. Cannot wait to read more from this author.
Loved this book! Thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing for the ARC!
This is my first book by Dani McLean, but it definitely won't be my last. I will now be devouring the rest of her work.
This book is part of a series of standalone novellas and is only 149 pages. It is the perfect quick romance read!
This book had some good moments, but the conflict was all over the place. The conflict also wasn’t clear at any one given time. Sometimes it was because she believed what a fortune teller told her and other times it was a disbelief in her deserving him. And other times it just wasn’t addressed. And the MMC tells her all the time he’s basically in love with her and there is no acknowledgement of it on her part that he’s talking about her, and she just assumes they are friends. I don’t know, it was all over the place.
This was a fun, super quick read. It’s sweet and easy to follow. I would have loved to see it as a more fleshed out story, but it also worked great as a novella.
“I don’t need anything from you except your company, Snoopy. It doesn’t matter what we’re doing; I like being around you. So stop worrying that that isn’t enough, because it is.”

Book: It Has to be You
Author: Dani Mclean
I see Dani Mclean’s novella’s on bookstagram a lot and I’m always in love with the beautiful covers, so when I saw this one I knew I had to give it a try, and it will not be my last read from her! This book was adorable and so cosy, a very quick read with a fun premise that played out just like a movie, and although I guessed what the twist was from very early on, it didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the book at all.
I loved the banter between Indy and Ethan, they both had such great cheeky sexual tension. I also loved how Indy’s anxiety was represented, it felt very relatable to me.
This is the perfect romance to get you out of a reading slump!
