This is just what I needed to get going on using my crockpot again to make life easier and cook at home more often. So many ideas and options.

I really wanted to like this cookbook and there were certainly parts that I did. My family and I have a very busy schedule and we find it hard to get a nice healthy meal on the table before our 3 year old son needs to go to bed. I was hoping to learn how to utilize my crock pot more as I can get it going in the morning, go to work, pick-up my family, and have dinner ready when we return.
I found myself bookmarking six recipes, but I have only tried one so far, which was the Hearty Ham & Bean Soup. I admit that I did omit the ham because I didn't have any and I was really interested in the bean part of the soup. I had a dry bean soup mix, which I was wanting to use and have had a hard time finding a recipe for, so I was very excited for this one. Besides omitting the ham, I followed the recipe exactly. The end result for me was that my bean soup was more of a bean mush. The beans had become so mushy from absorbing all the liquid that it didn't resemble anything like the picture in the cookbook. My only guess is that it was cooked for too long.
The pictures in the book are one of my favorite parts. I always hate it when a cookbook does not include photos because I want to see what the food I am thinking about making is going to look like. It drives me nuts when there are no photos. The instructions are easy to follow. Each recipe tells you the approximate serving size, but it does not include any nutritional information.
Not including the nutritional information was one of the things I did not like about this book. The biggest pet peeve for me was that this book uses a major short cut and that is that it uses a lot of canned soups for the bases. This was driving me nuts because canned soups are not always the healthiest and its not that hard to create a soup base on your own that is a lot more healthier than what you would get from within a can.
Rating: 2 out of 5 because of the pictures. I wanted to like this cookbook but it is just not the right one for me and my family.

This cookbook has quite a few recipes to try out! The pictures for the meals are helpful, too. You get to feast with your eyes as you look at all the yummy recipes.
Thank you #NetGalley for #CrockPotEssentials.

A wide variety of good recipes ranging from easy meals for two to more complex meals for a crowd to desserts.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. I found some recipes I definitely want to try. I also liked that you could scale the recipe to the size of the Crock Pot a person has. I like that the vegetarian recipes were marked so you wouldn’t have to constantly be flipping through the book.

The best part of this recipe book is that is explains what size of crockpot to use. You can then adjust the recipe to the size you have. Includes many soup recipes. Great photos and will make a good addition to any recipe book collection.

I loved how the book also had tips and information about recipes and different size crock pots. Most of the recipes were different than ones you usually see on Pinterest that are available.

With y household growing in size, I am always on the look out for recipes I can make or adapt to feed a larger family.
This was full of easy to medium recipes sure to please a crowd.
I received a copy via NetGalley and all opinions are my own.

I read this cookbook for free thanks to NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book had a lot of really good recipes. It was heavy of soup recipes. I found a few ideas that I will try with my family. There were a lot more I want to try, but my kids are very picky eaters!
Thanks for the ideas!

Crock Pot Essentials by Anne Schaeffer
To be honest, I was a bit skeptical that yet another Crock Pot cookbook could offer anything new. However, I am pleasantly surprised that the recipes here aren't the same old repeats. I appreciate the substantial soups & stews section and especially excited to find the Meals for Two section. As my kids are home less and less, I don't always want all of the servings from many slow cooker recipes.
The instructions are clear, the ingredient lists complete and there is a picture for each recipe. I will for sure be using more of these recipes in the future!
Thank you to #Netgalley and Fox Chapel Publishing for a free copy of #CrockPotEssentialsFoxChapelPublishing by Anne Schaeffer. All opinions are my own.

To say I'm excited about this cookbook is an understatement! This is going to be my go-to during football season. What's better than putting your meal in the crockpot on Saturday morning, then having it ready in time for the football game later that night? I can't think of anything. There are so many good recipes in here, and they will be easy enough for my teenagers to make, they both love to cook. The added charts in the front for serving size and crockpot size are something I didn't even realize I needed to make my life easier until now. This is a must buy cookbook!

My Year Round Go-To!
I love using my crockpot all year because it is easy and doesn’t heat up the kitchen on warm days. This book has provided me with so many new and delicious recipes—just what I needed to perk up my repertoire. Everything from breakfast, soups, snacks, mains and meals for two are covered in this book. The author has taken great pains to provide step-by-step instructions that are adaptable to all skill levels. There are loads of color photographs and in-depth advice on how to adapt a recipe to your slow cooker size—amazing! There’s nothing worse than trying to figure that out on my own. I’m so excited to try the Teriyaki Pork and the Canadian Bacon Chowder. My thanks to #AnneSchaeffer, #FoxChapelPublishingCompany, and #NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a great crockpot cookbook chock full of amazing recipes! Some cookbooks have some obscure recipes, but the majority of these look delicious from soups to desserts. I love using my crockpot so this will be very handy going forward. I would love to see more like this in the future.

recently I got a crock pot, and I always interested in trying some new recipes, and this cooking book is perfect for American comfort food, to be totally honest, I don’t know much about American recipes, how they are supposed to taste, and the recipes that ask for particular ingredients are harder for me to emulate, but I did try a couple of these, the things I couldn’t get I searched in the internet what I could use instead, but some things are really impossible to get a similar, like ranch powder or half&half (in here where I live there’s no such thing), but for the half&half I would use whole milk, but I did try homestyle Chili, cooker cornbread and deluxe brownies, and these were quite good.
I recommend this cooking book, since the steps to do the recipes are quite easy, is pretty much drop and cook, my only problem is that some ingredients are really specific.
Thank you NetGalley and Fox Chapel Publishing, for the free ARC and this is my honest opinion.

As an avid crock pot user, I own plenty of cookbooks to go along with it. I was intrigued to check this one out, as you never know what you’ll find.
It’s starts with your usual guidelines to safe crock pot cooking and then we dive into recipes including veggie, beef and chicken stock, appetizers, mains, desserts, snacks…and they’re clearly labeled if they’re vegetarian which I found to be helpful! Every single recipe included a photo as well, which is not common in cookbooks in general and I absolutely love that. The visual aid makes me want to cook the recipe so much more than an ingredients list ever will.
I feel this would be a solid addition to any crock pot kitchen!

This is an ok recipe book that focuses on the basics of cooking in a crock pot.
There's a variety of recipes including breakfasts and desserts using both pre-made ingredients and recipes from scratch. It's a helpful guide for those who may be starting out cooking.

What is not to love about this’ cookbook. Easy to read and prepare recipes specifically designed for the crockpot. Every recipe has a photo. There is also a section of Meals for Two that I really appreciate.
I have bookmarked half this book for planned meals.
Excellent cookbook.

2.5 stars! It’s not really the correct season to fire up the crockpot but I’m always looking for recipe inspiration. Unfortunately, the pictures in this weren’t great and so much of enjoying a cookbook for me is drooling over the photos. That said, I’m excited to try the loaded tater tot “bake” and creamy broccoli cheese soup. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

This is a well written and very usable cookbook. There are things in here that families would actually eat. Normal ingredients and simple, easy to follow instructions. I am looking forward to making many crockpot meals from this book!

Anne Schaeffer’s cookbook lives up to its name: it contains everything a new cook would want to know about slow cookers. Be it a guide to slow cookers, good safety, suggestions for accessories, recipes for stocks and staples, and some pretty unexpected recipes — they’re all here.
But long-time slow cooker lovers will find plenty to like here, too. I adored Crab Chowder with Roasted Veggies, Turkey Pot Pie in a Bowl, Veggie and Hummus Pita or Teriyaki Pork Wraps. There are even recipes for Grilled Steak Sandwiches and Orange Cheesecake! You couldn’t ask for more.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Fox Chapel Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
