So. I absolutely LOVED the first book in this series! And I could not have been happier to pick this one up! Spy thrillers just have my heart, y’all. Always and forever. They’re just so good!

And this one I read in a day so you know I was hooked, haha. But I just could not put it down??? It was so much fun!!

I loved learning more about Emma and about the organization and following her undercover. Being trapped on a boat added an extra ~element of risk that made this extra thrilling. I absolutely loved the setting!

I did figure out who the traitor was pretty early on but that did not diminish my enjoyment of this at all. In fact, it just made me watch them closer and notice so much more than I probably would’ve otherwise.

This is such a fun little spy number and I enjoyed it so much!!! I can’t wait to see where this series takes us next!

Thank you so much to NetGalley & Ballantine Books for allowing me to read this!

The Traitor is the second book starring Emma Makepeace and this is one of the best spy thrillers i have read this year. Emma Alias was the first book in the series and was a great debut and the second book that Ava Glass has written is even better. If you love to read spy thrillers that will keep you on the edge of your seat, look no further than this excellent book. I cannot wait to read was Ava Glass writes next. Go get this book, you will not be disappointed!

Such a great follow up to the first book in the series! I love Emma Makepeace's character, and the development of her character in this book was great! I was wondering who the traitor was going to end up being! I loved hearing the description of where they were, as it made me feel like I was on the yacht with them. I highly recommend this series!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I thoroughly enjoyed this author’s previous book Alias Emma, about Emma Makepeace, international spy extraordinaire, so I was eagerly awaiting her next book to see what this crazy badass Emma would get up to next. I also enjoyed this book, but not as much. The setting on a yacht in the Mediterranean was great and the story held my interest throughout, but I only felt fully engaged a few times, and since I did not feel immersed in that world, it was not as exciting as Alias Emma. Just like Alias Emma, I think this would make a great movie and will be surprised if that doesn’t happen. I look forward to many more Emma Makepeace books.

This was a great follow-up to Book 1. This was a great fast-paced thriller that's perfect for a summer read. I'm definitely looking forward to Book 3! While the villain wasn't a big reveal, it was a fun, gripping story.

The Traitor, by Ava Glass, is the second book in the Alias Emma espionage series. I am absolutely addicted to these stories and Ava Glass’s writing. They are so easy-to-read, so compelling, so suspenseful and so captivating that you won’t want to put the book down.

In this story we follow British spy, Emma Makepeace, as she goes undercover to investigate two Russian oligarchs whom the Agency has reason to believe are responsible for the death of an M16 analyst by chemical weapon. What’s even more horrifying is that it looks like there are plans to sell this poison gas to other countries, making this mission of the utmost urgency. Emma is sent undercover onto the yacht of one of the Russian magnates to see what she can uncover. It’s a high risk, high stakes mission with dire consequences and the secrets, surprises, and shocking reveals start rolling in, once Emma is on board.

The tension constantly rises as the plot unfolds and Emma realizes that she may be fighting on two fronts as it becomes clear there is a potential traitor on their team. This is such an entertaining, well-written, cleverly plotted thriller and one of my new favorite series. I am a huge fan of this author and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next in the series!

This is the second book of a series involving Emma Makepeace, who is spy for a select British MI6 unit. After having read the first book, I just knew that I had to read the next one. (This book works as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend reading the first book as well) The author writes with such intensity of the situations that Emma gets herself involved in. Sometimes you can’t stop turning the pages to see what is going to happen next.
Emma is definitely a force to be reckoned with. She has drive and determination.
She never gives up, even when it puts her in extreme danger. She thrives on the thrill of the catch. Will she and can she catch the bad guy? She is always very optimistic about it, not much will allow her to give up.
The plot of the story moves very quickly and the characters are very intense. There is ongoing tension throughout the book.
This novel will take you to the Mediterranean ,on super luxurious yachts, and to London and France.
Over the course of the story, it will point to a number of characters who could be the traitor, but you have to wait almost to the end to find out who it really is.
If you are a fan of spy thrillers, then this book is for you!
Many thanks to Random House Group and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of The Traitor in exchange for my honest thoughts.

In this follow up to Alias Emma, Emma Makepeace is investigating Russian money-laundering and drug trafficking aboard a luxury yacht. Disguised as naive Jess, a sweet server who befriends Madison, the young American lover of the yacht-owner, Emma knows her vulnerability--her phone confiscated, she has no way of reaching Ripley or her M16 colleagues. And she immediately arouses the suspicions of the Russian's bodyguard. Emma is too tenacious to give up; even after returning to London, she's determined to discover the identity of a mysterious third man, despite the risks to her career and very life.

Ava Glass has created another page-turning, immersive, impossible to put down suspense novel. It was just what I needed to get out of my weeks-long reading rut. #TheTraitor #NetGalley

If you are looking for a great spy novel, then this one is for you. You will cheer for Emma Makepeace as she goes undercover on a luxury yacht owned by a Russian Oligarch suspected of buying nuclear weapons.
This is actually the second novel in the Alias Emma series, but can easily be read as a standalone. Take a chance on this one – you won’t regret it!
Thank you NetGalley and Random House for my ARC.

I fell in love with Emma Makepeace in Ava Glass’ first book in this new series, Alias Emma.

In this stellar sequel, Emma is hot on the trail of a Russian oligarch selling chemical weapons to the usual suspects. She goes undercover on the oligarch’s super yacht, but a traitor within MI6 may send her to a watery grave.

Ava Glass keeps the story moving and the suspense climbing. This series should be on every mystery lover’s to be read pile. Highly recommended. #TheTraitor #NetGalley #SaltMarshAuthors

This is the second installment in the Emma Makepeace series about a young female MI6 operative on her next mission. She's a great new character breaking stereotypes about what you'd expect. Definitely a good series to jump into while it's early days.

Rollicking and fun ride. Follow a modern, female MI-6 agent into the world of Russian Oligarchs, complete with yachts, lavish parties, drugs, arms dealing, and, of course, murder. This is the second installment in the Alias Emma series. You don’t have to read the series in order. While book #1 is fast-paced all the way through, this one takes about halfway through for the action to pick up and get really good. Excited to read more in this series.

THE TRAITOR by Ava Glass is the next espionage thriller in the series which began with the very exciting Alias Emma. Emma Makepeace, a British spy, is back and posing as a staff member on the yacht of a wealthy (and criminal) Russian oligarch. That setting is impressive and isolating. Emma (posing as Jessica) is intent on learning about possible chemical weapons trades so she comes across some very ruthless adversaries. The subsequent deaths and numerous close calls add tension, but unfortunately, the "traitor" of the title is fairly obvious from the start. That means a good deal of the suspense centers on how long Emma will be betrayed and the extent to which she is likely to be deceived by her handlers. Emma is a very likeable character and her conscience is increasingly coming into conflict with espionage practices – I am looking forward to more in this series.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House Ballantine Bantam for gifting me a digital ARC of the second in this wonderful spy series by Ava Glass - 5 stars!

Emma Makepeace has a new assignment - evidence that a Russian oligarch is selling chemical weapons that murdered an MI6 officer. This officer had been investigating two oligarchs, while a third man's identify is unknown, and is of the utmost importance in the case. Emma goes undercover as Jessica, working on one of the oligarch's yachts. But the danger may be closer than she could know.

I love this series and adore Emma - a very bad ass female James Bond character. She has her reasons for her drive and sole work focus, but she shows her heart as well. If you didn't read the first in this series, Alias Emma, this book works perfectly as a stand-alone read, but definitely read it because it fills in lots of the back story and is just so good! These books are tense, thrilling, and never a dull moment reading, so clear your calendar! Anxiously awaiting more Emma!

I don’t usually gravitate towards spy books, but this series could change me, y’all. They were so quickly paced and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I read both in a couple of sittings each because once I started, I couldn’t put it down. Also, I LOOOOVE when a book one is great and book two in a series is even better 🙌📚

Alias Emma is a single day journey of Emma trying to ditch the enemy while completing a mission. Think 24 but with a bad ass woman spy. 🔎

The Traitor follows Emma through a tense and wildly dangerous undercover operation on a boat. Think Below Deck but with bad guys. 🛳️

Overall, these are a ✨ 10/10 YES ✨ for me and books I’d definitely recommend!

4 Take Names Stars

I am enjoying this character of Emma Makepeace. This is her second book, and she is a take-charge, no fear allowed British spy with a Russian past!

Emma is part of a secret group called “The Agency,” and they are investigating Russians who are a danger to the world. This time, as the title implies, there’s a traitor who needs to be identified.

The book opens with a chilling murder of a British intelligence operative with virtually no clues. It does send a message, though, and Emma starts investigating. As she digs deeper, the team decides to send Emma undercover on a yacht to find evidence against the Russian oligarchs who are dealing in arms and other crimes.

Alone at sea, Emma must keep up the ruse and hope that her real identity isn’t discovered until she finds proof.

This one had great pacing and kept me interested until the end. I figured out a few things, but I enjoyed Emma’s strong character and would want her on my side in a fight. The author did a good job reminding me of things that we learned about Emma in the first book.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read, and I’ll definitely be reading future books with this character!

Emma Makepeace is a spy, but not an ordinary, everyday spy. She works for MI6 identifing Russian spies. When an MI6 spy is found murdered and stuffed into a suitcase, Emma will assume an undercover identity as a vactioner ona yacht they suspect of belonging to the killers. This is not a Bond book, it'smuch better. Emma is a smart, dedicated woman who will solve this crime, or else. The story flows very well, keeping the suspense and tension building until you hear the music that plays during a movie just before something blows. An excellent second book in this series, but easily stands alone as a great read.

British spy Emma Makepeace is back for another thrilling assignment in The Traitor by Ava Glass. Reader's were introduced to Emma in Glass's Alias Emma and this new novel does not disappoint. Emma goes undercover as a deck hand on a magnificent yacht. The yacht belongs to a Russian oligarch who definitely is guilty of many crimes and may be responsible for the murder of a M16 operative. The novel is filled with interesting characters and fast paced action. The plot intensifies when Emma suspects her identity has been revealed to the oligarch by someone from her own "firm". She finds herself in a desperate situation because of this horrible betrayal. The Traitor is exciting and entertaining. A definite must read.
