Wow! What a truly intense novel. This kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time and I truly could not predict how it would turn out. A terrifying story of woman meets man, they have a one night stand, woman is intrigued by this man but notices early on some alarming red flags.

Woman finds out she is pregnant and has to decide what to do next. Psychologically suspenseful story unfolds with twists and turns you are truly shocked by and do not see coming.

If you love psychological thrillers than you will love this!

It will be published on 5/30/23 - keep an eye out for this one and get it immediately. Well worth the read.

This read like that Will Ferrell/Kristen Wiig lifetime movie that was a parody of a lifetime movie… I truly can’t believe this book took itself seriously.

Of the many plot holes:
1. Where does Laura find all this money? She doesn’t work for 3/4 of the book…
2. Why did it take her 6 months to “hire” (with all her riches..) a PI? Why does he agree to take her case for NO MONEY INSTANTLY? He pays out of pocket for their Greece adventure???
3. Nobody checked to see if Ethan died? Really?

I could go on but frankly I’m just too annoyed I wasted time on this book. Every character was poorly developed and it felt like they were play acting. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was not for me. It was just one psycho episode after another. The characters were not like able and frankly Laura really wasn’t that smart. The suspense wasn’t there. The hook wasn’t there. Not on par with the two authors previous books.

From the beginning this book had nothing to draw me in. It had a bunch of unlikeable characters that are nuts, whiny, annoying. I skipped a head like 50 pages at a time and that was enough to tell me what happened. Disappointed as I really enjoyed SL Harkers two previous books. Have never been able to get into many of Sarah’s books though.

Thank you to Victory Editing and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow, I just finished this book and it’s going to take a couple minutes for my heart rate to return back to normal.

This fast paced thriller had me completely drawn in, and unable to do anything else until I found out how this story ended.

Laura a British transplant, meets Ethan in NYC after he comes to her rescue. What starts off as a meet cute, ends up in a steamy one night stand. But as Laura goes on more dates with Ethan she finds out he is not the perfect man she thought he was. Controlling and angry Ethan will stop at nothing to let Laura out of his sight. And it’s only made worse when Laura finds out she is pregnant.

Now pregnant and alone in NYC with only one good friend, Laura feels stuck with Ethan. As his anger and manipulation become worse throughout Laura’s pregnancy, she begins to fear the worst. When Ethan introduces Laura to his mother Alice, she is able to breathe easier knowing at least his mother is kind and on her side.

But things don’t stay good for a long time, and as soon as Laura gives birth to their son, things take a turn for the worse. The rest of the story is a true heart pounding thriller as we watch the journey Laura is on with her son Christopher. Will it have a happy ending? Or will Ethan get his way?

I will say there should be a trigger warning for violence including a child, and child abduction. But overall, this was such a good thriller!

The Nice Guy by Sarah A. Denzil and S. L. Harker
Publish date: 30 May 2023, Publisher: Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op

Review provided thanks to NetGalley, Author and Publisher approved NetGalley Arc.

Review includes spoilers and warnings ⚠️

Synopsis:
Laura thought she’d found the one nice guy in New York City.

When Ethan saves her from a crushing crowd on Brooklyn Bridge, their connection is dazzling. Worthy of a heat-filled passionate night.

Laura falls pregnant from their one-night stand—a miracle considering her past fertility issues. Ethan is attentive and wonderful at first. She hopes he will be the kind of father she’d always wanted for herself.

Until his attentiveness turns to obsession. His questions become demands. Why didn’t she answer her phone or respond to his messages? Why won’t she move in with him and his rich mother?

Soon Laura realises the father of her child is a controlling sociopath. And there’s no telling the lengths Ethan will go to in order to keep baby Christopher for himself.

Laura will stop at nothing to save her baby boy.

But is she too late?

My opinion:
First off can I say I ADORE Sarah A. Denzil's books and was so excited to be approved for a NetGalley Arc; I knew this would be a top marker just from the blurb.
As a mother of a 2 year old and a 5 month old I found some of this hard to read, feeling like I had to have a breather every so often to remind myself that I am not Laura and that my kids are safe. Laura thinks she has found the perfect guy but soon realises he isn't how he initially portrayed himself and it very quickly goes into a 'dangerous Territory' that I fear a lot of women and men have nightmares about. She then finds out she is pregnant after suffering miscarriages and from there unfurls a horror story like I've never read before. I felt every emotion that Laura felt, and at one point I didn't think I could read any further as my emotions were so strong, but I'm so glad I did. Sarah A. Denzil and S. K. Harker have written about a horrific and delicate storyline in such a strong way that even though it is heartbreaking, you want to read on so you can ensure everyone is safe. Just as I had settled into thinking they were safe, I was jolted into another heart-racing segment.
All in all, I feel this book is beautifully written around such a heartbreaking topic, and the tension throughout the whole thing was just right. Another 5 star book in my eyes.
(I'm now off to hug my babies.)

As usual this book by Sarah is fast paced and keeps you turning the pages till the end. Laura finally thinks she’s met a good guy in Ethan but as most of us know there’s always more to the story than that. As the tension builds we find out just how wrong she was.

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

This started off promising but was a DNF for me as very quickly there were errors that just shouldn’t be there, she says she is getting texts from a withheld number but then says she will report the number to the Police, how can you report a withheld number??….then she has a call from ‘the same withheld number but how can she know it is the same when its withheld?….she then blocks the withheld number but this is impossible with a withheld number
Too many basic errors for me to carry on with it

Laura thinks she's found Mr. Perfect after Ethan rescues her during a women's march in NYC. After a one-night stand, however, Ethan's behavior turns disturbing, and Laura wants no further contact with him. Until she winds up pregnant. After past fertility issues, Laura is eager to have a child of her own, even if it means putting up with Ethan's controlling behavior.
His behavior escalates, though, until he does the unthinkable.
This was a quick read with short chapters. The story flowed nicely with interesting characters. Ethan was a quite extreme, but I guess that was the point of the story.
Not a totally surprising ending, but it was satisfying.

This book was splendid. As a long time fan of Sarah Denzil, I went in to this adventure with high hopes and boy did she deliver! What happens when the nice man you meet turns out to be…. Not so nice? Kept captivated throughout this entire book, I honestly couldn’t put it down!

The Nice Guy by Sarah A. Denzil is a well-crafted and thrilling page-turner.

The author's nice writing lends an eerie tone to the narrative, keeping you on edge the entire time.
Intriguing characters that drew me into their story.
A story about obsession, controlling and a toxic relationship. This was an interesting and gripping read. The plot is great to get yourself lost in.

When Ethan saves Laura from being crushed to death by panicking protesters they seem to have this instant connection. This one night stand turned accidental pregnancy immediately goes awry because Ethan is a walking red flag. Ethan is obsessive and controlling from the start and Laura has instant regrets. This book is if nothing else a cautionary tale about getting to know someone better before you sleep with them. This book is fast paced, easy to read and I loved all the twists and turns.

Aww I coulsnt read this quickly enough, what an absolute page turner!!

So the premise is good, it's nice and simple and not overly complicated. The plot moves at a good pa e and I found myself getting invested in the characters really early on. They're well written, likeable, complex and human.

I think we all clicked to the escalation in behaviour from a lot earlier than the character did which was frustrating but then again, it's easier when you know you're reading a plot about a jeckyl and Hyde type rather than living it and thinking it'd be insane for anyone to go that far so she was forgiven for that oversight.

The plot moves quickly and has some good twists and turns. As I said, knowing what the book is about means you know all the weird stuff will e down to him somehow but there's still some decisions the plot went in that I really didn't expect! And the final twist?! Never saw that coming at all!!!

A really strong psychological thriller that keeps building the tension and really fires up the eerie atmosphere. Loved it

This was a gripping psychological thriller which had me gripped from start to finish At one point I thought I had worked out what was going on but WOW was I wrong fantastic. The nail bitting ending had me on the edge of my seat excellent.

Laura meets Ethan after having an accident she thinks he is charming helping her and making sure she is ok. After spending the night with the charming Ethan Laura goes on a first date with him but this is not the Ethan she had first met he is rude and nasty. Laura decides Ethan is not for her but Ethan will not give up so easily what has Laura let herself in for and how far will Ethan go to get what he wants.

This was a gripping read which will have you hooked from first page until the very end. I will definitely be recommending this to all who loves a twisty thriller.

I didn't enjoy this at all. It read like a bad fanfic, people speaking in an inauthentic (or at least unlikely) way, being too full on with drama too quickly. I really enjoyed You Are Invited by this author so was disappointed by this title.

When Laura meets Ethan she thinks she has found the perfect man but soon realizes it was too good to be true in the worst possible way.
Incredible characters. Laura relatable trying to reason with someone who is beyond reason and Ethan totally controlling and controlled by his mother.
It is an absorbing and easy to devour thriller in which each chapter left me wanting more and more because the plot flows naturally until its satisfying ending.
Undoubtedly an enjoyable read that I recommend to lovers of the genre.

The Nice Guy - Sarah A. Denzil

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC.

What happens when the main character (Laura) casually hooks up with a handsome, seemingly kind and funny guy (Ethan) before she knows him, just once?

More than you could ever imagine!

The day after Laura and Ethan's um.... physical encounter, Laura is shocked to discover Ethan's rudeness and entitled attitude, an attitude that becomes even scarier as she attempts to politely let him know they will not be dating ever again.

He responds by attempting to sabotage her job.

When Laura discovers she is pregnant, and the baby must be Ethan's, she makes the somewhat crazy decision to co-parent with this psycho. And crazy as a hatter he is, as she (and her well-meaning friends and family) will be lucky to survive this ill-"conceived" brief encounter.

The only thing I found slightly implausible is that the main character would have even IMAGINED co-parenting with such a lunatic would be even slightly manageable.

However, it makes the entre story, and you won't believe the lengths this guy will go to to bring misery to the main character's life.

When Ethan's equally squirrelly mother enters the scene, it is easy to see that nut didn't fall far from the family tree!

Until next time...
