First off let me say that I love this cover!
If you love books that transport you to small towns, with complicated sibling relationships, that takes place during Christmas you will enjoy this read.
Thank you so much to the publisher for my ARC in exchange for my review!
After the death of their father, three half sisters return to the quirky small-town of their youth for the reading of his will. It is soon discovered that in order to gain their inheritance, the sisters must work together to complete a series of tasks to honor their father’s final wishes.
A December to Remember is a contemporary holiday novel. There is some romance in it but it’s more of a subplot.
I like that we learn each of the sister’s backgrounds gradually. As the sisters get to know each other better, the readers find out more about the MCs in a natural progression. It’s a bittersweet journey seeing the sisters reconnect after so long.
I’ve enjoyed all of this author’s previous books and look forward to reading next year’s holiday offering.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam (G.P. Putnam’s Sons)!
I must start by saying that I love stories with tasks to complete. Something about the clear start and end gives a sense of completion to me as the reader.
I loved how the themes of absolution and reconciliation wove into the storyline as the three sisters completed their father’s tasks. This book felt more like a good therapy session that a casual read. I loved the idea that the father didn’t just recognize that his absence caused problems for the daughters, but that he also created a tangible result from the scavenger hunt by helping the daughters bring back the solstice celebration. I was like, this is how you help to heal trauma!
Overall, I loved the story and continue to love Jenny Bayliss.
This book has way too many characters and far too much unnecessary dialogue to be enjoyable - which is unfortunate because the premise was interesting
This is a charming story of three estranged sisters, Maggie, Simone and Star, and how they find their way to a loving relationship with each other after the loss of their father. Their dad, Augustus, has put a plan in place after his passing to unite his daughters. In order to get a piece of inheritance, they must work together. The characters are fun, witty and lovable and each sister is on a mission for their own personal life satisfaction.
Thank you to Net Galley and Penguin Group Putnam for the opportunity to review this arc.
Very sweet story about three estranged sisters finding their way back to each other after being given a task to complete by their recently deceased father.
Augustus Balthazar North fathered three girls by three different mothers: Simone, Star (Heavenly Stargazer), and Maggie. He owned North's Novelties and Curios in the small village of Rowan Thorp, and he traveled the world finding treasures he would send back to his shop. Unfortunately that meant he only spent limited time with the girls as they grew up, and their lives have made them somewhat distant and a couple of them aren't speaking to each other. Augustus has recently died, and he has left his daughters a scavenger hunt of sorts and a declaration that they need to restart the town's Winter Solstice festival.
I ended this book with a big smile on my face. I loved that the main characters (the sisters) were in their late 30s-40s. It gave a different perspective on the romance and issues that came up for them. Each one has something to work through and overcome, so they are relatable to readers. Overall it's fairly predictable, but sometimes a person just wants a nice cozy read. The addition of the shop and the quirky, meddlesome (in a great way) residents of the village made for an enjoyable read.
I had a bit of a hard time getting into this book initially. I was trying to figure out who all the characters were and the role they played. As I kept reading, all those things made themselves known. The story was sweet, with just the right amount of romance along the side.
This one started off a little slow for me. But once I got into it I really loved it. I loved the characters and the storyline. I lived how the sisters came together to solve their problems and how the town came around them to help them. Just a great feel good, heart warming Christmas book!
Another remarkable Bayliss holiday read? Sign me up!

I had a blast getting to know these three.
A sweet page turner that I literally could not put down.
The story invites you in and moves you through a magic holiday building up to a perfect ending.
This book was absolutely delightful. The premise is adorable. And the characters were so much fun.
I loved being on this holiday journey with half-sisters Maggie, Simone, and Star.
A heartwarming story of love, hope, and reconciliation.

This was such a cozy, heartwarming read for the winter! Centered in England in December, A December to Remember is the book for you if you are looking for a novel with themes of grief, love, and family.
The 3 sisters - Maggie, Simone, and Star- were relatable and written in a way that makes you feel compassion for each character even at times when you might disagree with them.
This novel put me in such Christmas/cozy vibes that I think it’ll be perfect for end of the year reading.
This is my first Bayliss novel and I see myself coming back for more!

I loved this book more than I expected to. It's a great holiday story that rekindles the relationship of 3 very different sisters. The book was a good representation of different types of relationships in today's world and how different families are formed.
The town was giving Stars Hollow vibes. If ya know, ya know. So cozy. So closely knit. I had a good time imagining the outcome of the solstice celebration in my mind.
This was my 2nd Jenny Bayliss read, and it did not disappoint. Keep em coming!
Very cute book and such an easy read for the holidays. I liked the sisters and their back stories as well. This is exactly the type of book to cozy down with in front of the fire for a few hours.
This was a cute and sweet story that I enjoyed. Though it wasn’t not as festive as the title and cover made it seem, so that was a bit of a let down, but overall a sweet sister story, that addressed some important topics.
This was a book about lost family finding each other. Three sisters that only saw each other over the summers are now together for the reading of their father's will. As adults they get to know each other in a different way. I just loved the story, The sisters became friends and family again. Also add in the holiday spirit and it was magical. Thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you NetGalley, Jenny Bayliss and Penguin Group Putnam for the copy of A December to Remember. This is my personal review.
Maggie, Simone and Star are half sisters who do not see each other very often. They meet again when they are together to hear the reading of their father Augustus’s will. Much to their surprise he has a bunch of things for them to do in order to get their inheritance. This sets them off on a series of things they have to do together. They are not too keen on this, but they jump into it and soon they realize they need each other in their lives and not to just get the inheritance.
I enjoyed the adventure with them, and I know you will also.
I tried to read this as my first holiday book of the year. I gave it a fair chance, but it was just too busy for me. I thought the beginning was hard to follow, but I don’t know if that was me or the book.
I hav enjoyed other books by Jenny, but this one just wasn’t for me.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. Jenny Bayliss is one of my favorite holiday authors and this book did not disappoint. In this story, we follow three sisters navigating their strained sibling relationship as they come back together following the death of their father. In order to inherit his estate, the sisters must work together to reinstate the small town's Winter Solstice Festival.

A heartwarming holiday story about three half sisters who must work together after their father died. These three women (and their mothers) could not have been more different, and at first none of them are pleased with the conditions of his will. As they get reacquainted with each other and spend time on the tasks, they realize they missed each other and the town their father lived in where they used to meet up for a month each summer.
It's a sweet story, more about the sisters and the community of their town than anything else. I liked the holiday elements and the Winter Solstice.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
This story is about three sisters whose relationship have to join together following the fathers death.
Even though their relationships are strained, they have to work together to re-create the Winter Solistice Festival in order to inherit their dad's estate.
I felt like this book would be a great Hallmark movie. Their dads end goal was to have them come together and rebuild their relationship.
This was a great cozy read to start my holiday reading and I highly recommend this one.
