Thank you!
This was the perfect story to get me into the holiday spirit. It had major winter/holiday vibes without being too forcefully or cheesy Christmas! I loved the sisters and their funny relationship and thought the ending was so sweet. One star off because the relationships for some reason didn’t all the way do it for me, but I still really enjoyed it! The mysterious aspect of the novel with their father really kept me wanting to read more.
Jenny Bayliss captures the essence of family, love, and reconciliation, making "A December to Remember" a delightful read for the holiday season. A charming tale of three half-sisters brought together by the unexpected twists and turns of their late father's will. The unique setting of an antiques shop and the cozy holiday season provide a delightful backdrop to the story. The characters are well-developed and their individual quirks add depth to the narrative.
Jenny Bayliss can do no wrong when it comes to heartwarming holiday stories! I have read each and every one and loved them all. I am a huge fan of stories about good sister relationships and Winter Solstice is one of my favorite days of the year, so A December to Remember hit me right in the feels and gave me all the warm fuzzies! Jenny nailed it once again, cementing her as my go-to auto-buy holiday author.
Jenny Bayliss is my go-to holiday book author. I absolutely loved the female characters in this story. I’m a sucker for stories with sisters, and these estranged half siblings get together after the passing of their eccentric father. This books gives all the cozy vibes. I’ve never been to England before, but after reading this book it gave me all the snowy English mulled wine vibes.
As is, I did find myself wandering in concentration at times and easily putting this down without an urge to pick it back up for days at a time but cute enough. I really love the family connection and aspect of that.
Felt a little too long - could have cut some of the middle out - but I enjoyed it! Enjoyed the shared dynamic as we don’t often get that in holiday books, at least not as in depth as this was!
4.5 stars. A warm and wintry treat. Three estranged half sisters are called back to their late father’s village to fulfill a series of eccentric quests and possibly mend their relationship. Sweet and romantic.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.
The cover of this book truly matches the lovely plot and atmosphere inside the book, and when it comes to Christmas books I really just want to feel like I’m living inside a small town Christmas wonderland and that’s exactly how this book felt. I also loved the plot and premise of three sisters who are growing closer again despite all the chaos going on their respective lives. The small towns vibes were VIBIN’ hard, and I found every single aspect charming and delightful. If you’re looking for one more book to get under your belt before Christmas, I couldn’t recommend this enough. It’s cozy, it’s captivating and it’s incredibly well written. Loved, loved, loved. 5 stars!
Jenny Bayliss does it again! Such a beautiful holiday novel about family and the relationship between sisters. I loved Bayliss’s rich descriptions that brought the town of Rowan Thorp and the North family to life. It was as if I was in the novel with them when they were planning the winter solstice festival. A warm holiday hug in a book.
After their father’s death, three very different half sisters (Maggie, Simone, and Star) reunite in Rowan Thorpe for the reading of Augustus’s will. However, their father has orchestrated a series of hoops through which they must jump to unlock their inheritance—the last thing any of them want to do. But Maggie and Star desperately need the money. And who would Simone be to resist? Through hilarious goose chases, small-town mishaps, and one heart-warming winter solstice celebration, love, hope, and reconciliation is in the air, if only the three sisters can let themselves grasp it.
I really enjoyed this! I think Jenny Bayliss has only gotten better with each book she writes. She knows how to write a cozy winter romance! Each sister had a very different story, and I loved reading about each one.
Loved this book! Three estranged sisters are brought back together after their father's death to complete a project he left for them. Each sister has their own struggles that they are working through and grow closer together as the story goes along. A cozy winter book
Three sisters are brought back together by their dad who recently passed. As instructed in his will, they organize a winter solstice festival for their small town of Rowan Thorpe. A story filled with unconventional romances, a tight knit community and sister bonds. While it was difficult to keep track of every side character, I was able to connect with the sisters and found the story enjoyable. It was cozy and heartwarming, and while ideal for the holiday season, it could be read anytime of the year. Thank you to NetGalley and Putnam Books for this e-ARC for my honest review.
I could not finish this book. I’m not sure what it is about Jenny Bayliss’ books but I have found myself bored with the most recent ones. It’s a big bummer. The synopsis was promising, but it just didn’t work for me.
Thank you NetGalley for the early copy of this book.
I just could not get into this one. I wanted to so bad, a trusted friend loved it, but I was just completely disinterested the multiple times I tried.
“A December to Remember” is about three very different half sisters who are reunited in the charming country town of Rowan Thorpe when their father dies and leads them on a challenge quest/treasure hunt in order to take possession of their inheritance.
Jenny Bayliss always writes wonderful, cozy, charming, non-treacly holiday books with great representation and this is no exception.
The characters were real and likable and I loved all of the secondary characters, the strong women who keep the town of Rowan Thorpe going.
One thing that played a part in making this book a four star read for me, not a five star read, was the love story between Maggie and her employee. The reasons given as to why she couldn’t let herself love him just didn’t read true and it felt like a plot invention to complicate things and keep it from being too “happily ever after” too quickly.
That said, I love Jenny Bayliss’s books and she will remain my go to holiday author. I’d recommend her books to anyone looking for a holiday read who likes their reads less like a Hallmark Holiday movie. Can’t wait to read what she writes next!
This book is a moving and joyful read that catches the charm of the holiday season. Its engrossing characters, beautiful setting, and romance deliver a cozy and uplifting experience. I recommend this for those seeking a feel-good holiday novel to accompany them by the fireplace during the holiday season.
I’m such a big Jenny Bayliss fan and this was no exception! I love how her storylines feel atmospheric and warm while still keeping pace with the plot. A marvelous December read that I recommended to countless friends seeking holiday feels!
This was quite the heartwarming story with lots of love, tears, and laughs. I really enjoyed how different the sisters were and how they were each facing life-altering problems when their father’s death brings them all together. I adored the aspect of tradition throughout the book. And the addition of the quirky, meddlesome villagers made this so entertaining. Overall, a very cozy book to read around Christmas!
A sweet, heartwarming, and charming winter stories. Of sisters and community both coming together to make magic and everlasting relationships.
