It took me a while to get in to this book but once I did the lies and suspense made it a great read.
I wasn't sure what to expect from The Wedding Night but what I got was a fast paced rollercoaster of a story, with secrets, lies, twists and turns galore. It was a fantastic read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
Do you want a book full of family drama with lots of suspense & secrets? #TheWeddingNight is perfect to fill that role. It grabbed me from the prologue. Filled with a strong cast of characters with lots of things going on in the past that are revealed throughout. This is the second book I’ve read by #ClareBoyd & it surely won’t be the last.
Thank you, @claresboyd, @Bookouture & @netgalley for my copy! All opinions are my own.
Amy has a second chance at happiness as she prepares to marry William. Amy and her daughter Tess have moved into William’s home with his son Hal. Amy loves William and although she is excited about their future together, doubts begin to settle in and she starts to wonder if William is keeping secrets from her. Meanwhile, Hal and Tess are struggling to settle into a sibling relationship.
Amy’s doubts begin as her life begins to undergo changes. While these changes start off for the better, her doubts begin to grow. While this story is told mostly from Amy and Hal’s points of view, there is a third perspective, and this is where the mystery of William’s secrets begins to unfold. How intriguing!
Shockingly, Tess soon goes missing and of course Amy is desperate to find her. Where is Tess and how does her disappearance if at all tie into William’s secret past? If you want a book that will keep you invested from the very beginning, with a mysterious thread running through, then this is the book for you. Filled with angst and a surprising ending, Clare Boyd has written another excellent book
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Life seems great, Amy is happy and is about to walk down the aisle, but soon her daughter Tess is missing and the little things Amy has uncovered are getting bigger. Things she knew will change and secrets will come to the surface.
This novel is made of short chapters told from multiple points of view to keep us reading, with characters who are realistic.
This novel was full of suspense, and although I found the narrative with the teenager irritating it did not put me off.
My Review:
Wow!!!! I have to start off by saying that I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this one since I never read any of this authors books. At the beginning it started off a little slow and wordy but once I got to know all the characters I got really into it. I felt each characters emotions and felt them very deeply as if they were my own. I could also identify with each and every one of them. What made me pick this one up was that awesome blurb. This publisher really does a great job in writing them as they leave me wanting to know more which leads me to buying and reading it. Now let’s talk about that ending. It was so perfect for this book. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 4 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really enjoyed this book and ended up reading it quite quickly. We start by following Amy and William as they move in together, and in doing so, bring their children together as well. The premise for this is firmly about the adults but I think Tess and Hal carry this story and it is very much about them which I enjoyed. I did enjoy the plot centering around Amy and William as well, I just thought Tess and Hal were stronger.
The whole way through this, we know there is a mystery and secrecy at the heart of the plot and Boyd teases us with what it is for the majority of the read. This definitely helped keep my interest and by the time came for the reveal I had a strong idea as to what it was.
Overall, I really enjoyed this read and could not put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance copy.
I’m not sure if I’ve read a book by Clare Boyd before, but she leaves an impression. This had a little bit of everything in it. Secrets and lies, mystery and suspense, and a little bit of romance. The prologue has the bride running from her wedding as she believes her daughter is missing. Then we are transported back in time to when the soon to be bride and groom are moving in together blending their families.
This is definitely a multi-layered story. While there is definitely suspense, especially based on the prolugue, the majority of the book is more of a family drama. With the groom to be harboring secrets along with the teenage children. It really makes you think about how well you know the people around you and what secrets they could be harboring. And ultimately if love can conquer all.
I’ll admit it took me a while to become invested in the book, but once I did, I did not want to put it down. The more I read, the quicker the pace until it hit its climax with everything crashing in.
Domestic suspense lovers should take a look at this one.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'The Wedding Night' by Clare Boyd.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Clare Boyd, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture Anonymous.
Publication date 3rd July 2023.
This is the third book I have read by this author. I have also read 'The Pretty One' and 'The Villa' which I would definitely recommend.
This novel consists of a prologue and 88 chapters. The chapters are short in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
'The Wedding Night' discusses some topics that may trigger some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Clare discusses/includes a terminal illness.
Well done Clare on yet another addictive page turner!!!
The storyline is extremely powerful, addictive and eye opening. It was a very fast paced domestic thriller filled with suspense!! It started with a very chilling prologue and the pace kept getting faster and faster making it feel like the reader is on a rollercoaster ride!!! I couldn't read the book fast enough and was flipping the 'pages' until early in the morning. I was not expecting the explosive secrets that were scattered throughout !! A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS 👏 to Clare on that as it is getting harder and harder to surprise me with all the crime and psychological thrillers I have read but you managed it hook, line and sinkerI won't say any more than that as don't want to spoil it for future readers but I was absolutely shocked!! The atmosphere was absolutely stunning and I was gutted when I came to the end and realised I had to unpack my bags as I had genuinely set off to the the stunning Summerfield House and Surrey. It is ram packed with deceipt, Mystery, family, secrets, lies, drama , suspense, mind blowing surprises and everything you could want in a psychological thriller!! The characters are all solid and realistic with a large range of personalities!! Clare's evocative writing skills brings each of them to life making them jump out of the pages while you are swept away on this epic page turner!!!
Do not pick this up until you have cleared your schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!
Congratulations Clare on another fantastic page turner and here's to your next success 🥂
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first two chapters of Clare's ''My Perfect Wife' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!
Overall an unputdownable, rollercoaster of emotions that will keep you turning the pages until the end
441 pages.
This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle and £10.99 in paperback via Amazon (at time of review) which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

The Wedding Night is a tense domestic drama. I could actually feel the tension literally coming out of the pages as I was reading it. Right from the prologue this book had me hooked and I was utterly captivated by this read and couldn’t wait to get to the end to find out the final outcome which I was happy with. An excellent read with a strong cast of characters some I loved and others not so much. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
It was the best day of her life...until her daughter went missing...
Firstly, this is not a thriller of any kind so not entirely sure why it is marketed as such. It is more of a drama-slash-suspense. And secondly, I really enjoyed it. More than I thought I would. Although I was on constant edge throughout the story where Hamish was concerned as Boyd had brutally killed off a beloved family dog in a previous book that left me bereft and inconsolable upon finishing. But I am happy to say, Hamish makes is through unscathed with nothing untoward happening to him.
The story begins with a prologue, the promise of a wedding, the beautiful dress, the bluebell woods, a picturesque setting. But something happens to change the bride's course down the aisle of bluebells, and she turns and flees in a panic. This is the only glimpse we get of the wedding until about 70% through the story. Because what precedes, lays the groundwork for what's to come.
Amy and Tess have lived in a two bedroom flat in London for six years since divorcing from Tess' father Nick. But a year ago, she met William online and the two began a slow courtship which has lead to Amy selling their flat and making the move to Surrey to live with him and his teenage son Hal. And on the night after settling in, William pops the question. Amy says yes. She couldn't be happier.
But little by little, Amy begins to uncover a few secrets...beginning with an old baby photo wrapped with an old babygro wrapped lovingly in tissue paper which she found stored in one of the drawers of the old wardrobe. Looking at the photo she assumes the baby is of Hal and, when she presents William with it, he doesn't say otherwise. But trouble begins brewing when she then discovers an old letter from an ex-girlfriend along with some photos of them together. And it seems this ex is still very much in the picture but just how much, Amy isn't sure.
Meanwhile, Tess has settled into her new school alongside Hal and his best friend Rory. She is quick to comeback at Rory's banter which earns her the respect of her peers. It seems she has no trouble adjusting or making friends at the seven grand a term private school, which William happily funds. She gets involved with Hal's friends but she mostly wants to hang out with Rory who she's developed a major crush on. This involves a lot of parties with a lot of drinking and bit of something else going on...exactly what, she's not entirely sure. But as long as she's with Rory she's happy. But soon she and Hal discover that Rory has some even more unsavoury friends which threatens everything she thought she knew about him. And that's not all.
And then Amy and William's big day arrives. Tess and Hal are determined that Rory will not ruin it for them. And just when everyone is in place, the music is playing and William awaits his bride...Tess has disappeared. And Amy will not get married without her daughter by her side. And just when she thought the secrets that have been swirling around them for months couldn't get any worse, her world comes crashing down...
There is so much I could say about this book but to do so would be to spoil it. It is a very long book and it takes quite some time before we actually get to the main event that is outlined in the book's premise. Because while we think it is the story, it's not the whole story. There is so much more which lead up to this point. And quite honestly, as the story progressed I would see exactly where it was going and what was going to happen. So it was no great mystery. But it is long. Sometimes a little too long but it is still a great read.
I do have a few issues though. Besides the obvious in Rory and Sophie. Shoot them both please. These two totally spoilt what should have been a wonderful time for this family. Both of them are self-obsessed and selfish to the core. No, my issue is actually the whole timeline thing. While the story unfolds through the various perspectives of Amy, William, Tess and Hal, there is another one that is in a flashback form dating back to 1990. And then later in the book was the reference to that being twenty four years. But it's thirty four. A big mistake there which should have been picked up. My other issue was that that timeline wasn't entirely clear and appeared at times to be very vague. It was all tied up in the end but I felt it was a little unfinished in that it didn't really pan out clearly.
But overall, it was a compelling drama suspense that had a somewhat happy ending. Of that I was satisfied with. Because if it didn't, it would have felt unfinished. But I liked the ending. My favourite characters were Tess and Hal.
I would like to thank #ClareBoyd, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheWeddingNight in exchange for an honest review.

Happy Pub Day
The Wedding Night by Clare Boyd is a riveting family drama full of secrets.
A slow burn to a explosive conclusion.
As always, Boyd's writing style is easy and exciting. Each chapter hooked me further and further. Another amazing thriller from Clare Boyd.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
" Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Amy is divorced and she and her daughter, Tess, have been on their own for years. Amy recently met William who lives in Summerfield House in Surrey. They are in love and are going to marry. So, Amy and Tess agree to go live with William and his son, Hal.
The house is beautiful and luxurious. Tess seems happy to meet Hal and is ready to enroll in a local school. She is also attracted to Hal’s friend, Rory.
As Amy meets some of William’s friends, she is introduced to a more glamorous lifestyle than she has known before. The plans for her wedding become intense and money seems to not be a problem. William insists that she enjoy herself and get what she wants. She can’t help but feel that William may be hiding something and she’s determined to find out what.
Meanwhile, Tess gets involved with Hal and his friends. There are parties where there’s a lot of drinking and Rory seems to be hanging around with some very unsavory characters. Is everything as it seems at Summerfield House?
This is a long book with lots of secrets. The book concentrates equally on Amy and William and then on Tess and Hal. Some things are difficult with the teenagers that I felt was loose parental control. I liked Tess and Hal as they were my favorite characters. So, enjoy this book of secrets, discovery, and action.
Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
A decent read. I did get some a little lost when the narrative kept switching back and forth.
I wondered what hold the creaky old house had join William. Sophie was just ghoulish and creepy.
I thought Hal was one way, but then as it turned out, he was a decent fellow after all.
An interesting read about what happens when you take a chance on love. Sometimes it pans out, sometimes it doesn’t.
Well in the beginning I wasn't sure if I would like this book. But then the subplots started to make sense and had the same theme as the main plot.
Ons strand is about the bridal couple and their getting to know you and tge secrets that knew of them has, The overarching theme is about the teenagers and County lines. It doesn't matter how you are brought up you can still be vulnerable.
As people grow o n this journey the book becomes really addictive. It is not an easy read with all the points of views but it works.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own
A runaway bride starts off the story with a bang!
What an intriguing story about the relationship between parents and their teenagers. With so many secrets thrown in to make this an intense domestic thriller.
The build up is slow going but then things definitely pick up!
The Wedding Night gives you family drama, secrets/lies, mystery and romance
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Wedding Night!!!! This book had much going on and it was really good. The ending was Fantastic, how people can change when speaking truth in their lives and dealing with their past is Awesome. Loved EVERY PART of this novel, the characters were very real. The only part that was confusing was the date of the son, should have been 34 years old and not 24 since it started in 1990 and ended in 2024 unless I missed something. I will definitely be telling my friends to get this book. Thank you again.
Book Review 📚
The Wedding Night by Clare Boyd - 4/5 ⭐
This story is very much a fight to the death over the head and the heart. Amy thinks she's hit the jackpot when she gets this second chance of love but she soona starts to have her doubts along the way. Is all to good to be true or is there something going seriously wrong?
There are several POVs throughout the story but the main focus is on Amy (and how she deals with everything around her). Each and every person seems to hold a huge secret with a play-by-play that's gonna reveal some interesting things along the way, so stay tuned.
I will say this, read the prologue cause it's really giving some insight into the whole story ahead, and don't be threatened by the chapters! It's a really fast paced book and although there's stuff happening, you're not left waiting long to find out and it won't let you down.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookoture for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.
After a contentious divorce and the travails of the single life, Amy and her daughter Tess are initially delighted when she meets the man of her dreams. William is wealthy, and eventually persuades them to move in with him and his teenage son Hal, who live in a lavish home in the countryside.
Hal quickly establishes a bond with Tess, and she is increasingly drawn to his friend Rory, with potentially problematic consequences.
Amy is also enjoying the pleasures of her new life, which include friends who are ladies of leisure types. It is at these gatherings though, that she hears things hinted at in William's past that make her feel somewhat uneasy.
There are times when we choose to ignore our instincts, usually to our detriment. Very much guilty of this, Amy continues moving forward towards their wedding, despite her growing suspicions about the secrets that William may be keeping from her.
Unfortunately, it all comes home to roost on her wedding day when Tess suddenly disappears. Desperate to find her daughter, Amy cancels the wedding, to William's great discomfiture.
But why did Tess disappear, and where has she gone? And might her disappearance be connected to William's secrets?
These are the questions with Amy will finally have to face up to, if she is ever to find true happiness...
The book is an engaging read and manages to hold the reader's interest. I lean more towards suspense than romance, so I was impressed that Boyd kept me feeling curious about what would happen. This will be a good fit for those who enjoy romantic suspense novels.
Amazing book I really enjoyed it!!! Few twists and turns bit overall so enjoyable !! I will be reading more by thos author !!!! Milli9n percent !!!!
