“The Wedding Night” is a thriller by Clare Boyd. There was a lot of character building with many red herrings. The relationship between parents and teenagers can be difficult and with secrets being kept, these relationships definitely were difficult. There’s a lot of tension in this book. Although the character building was good, I became tired of William’s lack of a backbone and cageyness and just disliked Rory in general. For me, this book overall didn’t work, but based upon other reviews I’m in the minority.
A great family drama about the secrets within blended families. I really enjoyed it couldn't put it down. There was so much tension.
Amy and William are planning to get married. It’s supposed to be the best day of their lives but then Amy’s daughter Tess goes missing from the wedding. So many red herrings which will have you guessing until the very end.
Highly recommend this to everyone who loves a book with lots of suspense and drama.
This is about the drama of hidden secrets, blended families and risk-taking (teens). The characters were fleshed out well and I cared about what would happen to them. I would recommend this for those who enjoy intriguing family dramas and domestic suspense. Clare Boyd is a favorite of mine. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Do you ever really know the one you say you love and want to marry?
Amy wasn’t so sure. She knew William was hiding things but she never could have guessed at what those things were.
I love the relationship between mother and daughter as well as Hal and Tess. Those relationships make the whole story come together.

I think I had it in my mind it was a thriller (like with big twists) but this was more of a family drama/domestic suspense.
Amy and William are planning to get married. It’s supposed to be the best day of their lives but then Amy’s daughter Tess goes missing from the wedding.
This is shown immediately in the prologue, and then most of the book shows the 1 year leading up to the actual wedding, with some secrets being revealed throughout.
Lots of family and teen drama from past and present.
👀 no spice
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- I enjoyed this book and author overall I was just selfishly hoping for a little more in terms of secrets and twists!
A totally unputdownable family drama about the secrets that lurk under the glossy surface of a perfect new life. Wow! What a book! I couldn't read it fast enough. The tension and pace were absolute magic! Brilliantly unsettling, with characters so deftly woven that you never quite know who – if anyone – you can trust. Another riveting and powerful psychological thriller from this talented author.
This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. Amy and her daughter move in with William and his son. Secrets abound. Red herrings throw the reader off. Intrigue and mystery written by a talented author. Surprise after surprise. Parents and teenagers work together usually and sometimes not so much. The good, the bad, and the not so good make up this novel that is fiction but reads like nonfiction. This is a page turner. This author has intrigued me. Enjoy the journey with this couple. The language did not add to the story. This author is a favorite.
