Thank you, NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for an ARC of this book.

I really like how the main character, Risa Amakawa, is written! She's very relatable and I feel like a lot of people who had to be independent from a young age can relate to her. While she comes off as cold and standoffish to most people, secretly she's a caring girl who's just very anxious and awkward. She's very blunt and says everything in a very straightforward manner and it sometimes causes misunderstanding, which she then later stresses over.

The character of Zen Ohira feels a bit stereotypical and bland at first. Oh, a flirty delinquent who is interested in the female lead because she was nice to him once... But as the graphic novel progresses, you see that he's actually interested in Risa because of the disconnect between her actions and her words. He appears to be the first person who noticed her mannerisms are a mask, and he wants to see past it and see the real Risa hiding behind. This manga is a slow burn and I completely fell in love with their cute love story. Also, the art is beautiful, it makes the reading experience so much more enjoyable!

This first volume promises to deliver a heartwarming and funny opposites attract romance. Great artwork and interesting characters.

Risa Amakawa is possibly OCD. She carries everything in her for every situation, and so she is well prepared and able to help when the notorious Zen Ohira is beaten up by rivals. This action attracts the attention of those rivals and suddenly Risa finds Zen is there to help her as she encounters this unwanted attention, but Risa is resourceful and has an answer to everything in her bag.

This is a funny, light romance which looks like it will be a good series to read.

Want to thank Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this book.

What a perfect manga! Usually I am not the biggest fan of studious girl/mafia boy tropes but this one was so well done. This had comedy and romance. It also has some really nice and steady character growths! Def going to be reading more of this series. Fukimomo really knows how to make a good story!

I honestly loved this! The art and story line are both amazing. I always love a bad boy, good girl paring. I can’t wait to physically have this on my shelf!

This was such a cute read!! The way those two are both super "I got this" but in completely different ways is perfect. They are so similar but different all at the same time.. I am so ready for Vol 2.

This was so cute. Usually, for a lot of manga, it takes the main couple 35 chapters for them to kiss, so for them to do so in the first volume, is a big plus for me. I really loved the characters so far, and their romance, and I'm excited for volume 2.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for approving me a copy of this manga.

A classic shoujo's tale about a delinquent boy and a tough, independent girl. The art especially stunning and beautiful.

Risa Amakawa is prepared for everything. She carried a heavy bag with items and spares for every situations. One rainy day, She helped a boy who's got beaten up and left at the ground, Zen Ohira. As it turns out, Zen's actually a delinquent, gang leader boy, now determined to pay Risa for her kindness. Risa, self sufficient, don't want anything to do with the boy. But their encounter might be just giving Risa a chance to rely on others and learn that she could've asked for helps.

In this volume 1, the series offer a somewhat common trope. It is not anything new, but still an enjoyable read. Cute, sweet, story with likeable characters.
Risa has her own struggle that leads to her prepared-for-everything trait. She's so used to being in her own. Zen is a bad boy with heart, happy go lucky, and funny. It's kinda endearing the way Zen's is fascinate with Risa's tough act and troubles and somewhat touch when she's actually asked for his help.

Though, it is still early to decide how I feel about this manga, I particularly like the pacing. There are still some scenes that I found a bit too much. I also actually don't like the gang war storyline that much, but I'll see where things going on with their further development.

First: lovely charming art. second: the silly humor actually made me laugh. Third: When i was reading I thought the fmc to be autistic or very anxious person, either way, i liked her character so much.

With that being said, I Didn’t like the romance. My main complaint is that I don’t enjoy romance wherein everything &every interaction accrues wouldn’t at all happen in real life, but y’know, people who read those books are escaping life itself, so it’s really just different opinions and tastes, not the author fault by any means. I also didn’t understand why they fell in love, they could be very good friends but i don’t see it going any further, which isn’t necessarily bad, not at all, I would actually enjoy it much more if it was just friendship story.

Oh also, I thought it was obvious but here we are: let’s not kiss someone without their consent. Let’s not make such scenes in any media even for just a cute, innocent, or funny moment. It’s an assault, and some readers could be encouraged the wrong way.

This delightful romance manga has a very strong and self sufficient heroine. Risa is so independent that she always takes care of herself and is prepared for anything. Enter our hero, Zen, a delinquent who has just been beaten up by a rival gang. Risa helps Zen and makes a really big impression on him. He starts showing up at her school on a motorcycle trying to repay her kindness.

I adored this story! The art, character designs, romance, and humor were top tier. I’ve read delinquent mangas before, and I love how this took many of the usual tropes and turned them on their head.. I highly recommend and can’t wait to read more!

This manga was really good and so cute. The FMC is so relatable with all her insecurities and anxieties and the MCM sees right through her and likes regardless. They are quirky and I'm sure there is more than meets the eye with them and they story. I love that they were both willing to take a chance to be happy. There romance appears like it's going to be a cutesy- butterflies in the belly sort of story and those tend to be my favorite. I can't wait to read more of the series.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #kodanshacomics for an E-ARC of #LoveThatsanUnderstatement1 by Fujimomo to read and review.

Love. That’s an understatement Vol. 1 by Fujimomo is a YA romance manga.

Risa is a shy and studious high school student; she doesn’t ask for help, is always prepared for any situation, and carries a heavy backpack that contains everything. One day she met Zen, who was injured and offered him help. After that day, they encountered each other several times. Risa might come off as grumpy, whereas Zen is completely the opposite of her; he is a happy-go-lucky guy. Risa is a relatable character. Their relationship progresses slowly but in a healthy way, and they help each other.

This manga is adorable. I love the story; the pacing was perfectly done. I love the art style, and I also love the detailing.

This one is a question mark.
The thing is it seems everyone loved it, but I didn't. Maybe I tried too hard to get into it.
There's a classic love-hate relationship here where the girl doesn't want to have anything to do with the baddie, but in the end after many tries she actually falls for him.

The setting was very basic and honestly the story as well. I didn't find anything that exciting nor that original. It was a standard read overall but with beautiful art.
It's probably the thing I liked the most, the drawings were very good and with a lot of depth.
Another strength is the characters' personalities. They all have very distinctive tracts and they all are very different from each other.

I need tho more plot development for this one to understand how I truly feel about it, so for now three starts it stays.

I struggled a bit with this reading. I'm not really a fan of this kind of trope, but since I like to try all kinds of things that wasn't the problem. I did have a hard time finding the main characters appealing and it made me drop out of the story at several points. I just couldn't find their relationship cute and I found that their personalities didn't fit very well together.
However, I'm sure that this manga will please many and that it will have no trouble finding its audience.

No, stop, why was this so cute?! I'm loving the vibes right now, and I like the relationship that Zen and Risa have and how they balance each other out. Zen doesn't want or expect Risa to change how she is, and he's just so adorable... Can't wait to watch them grow (and see how their relationship blossoms)

Thank you to Kodansha and Netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this title.

I feel conflicted about this manga. On one hand, the art was gorgeous and the love interest is swoon-worthy, but on the other hand, I didn’t like how a lot of the conflicts had a deus ex machina element. The main character gets herself into ridiculously dangerous situations and the male lead magically appears to save her. At this point, he really is a stalker. If you can overlook that, you’ll probably love this manga. I’m a realist though.

"Love, That’s an Understatement Vol. 1" From its captivating storytelling to its beautifully drawn characters, this manga has all the ingredients for an incredible reading experience. It takes the theme of love and spins it into a heartwarming High School journey filled with laughter, emotion, and reliability.

I truly love this manga and its characters. They are so well-developed, and while they play into tropes that we have seen before, they surprise us. Each character has their own unique personality and quirks that break out of the mold of tough guy, goody too shoes cool girl, and you can't help but become invested in their lives, and it makes me so excited to see how this series and how Zen and Risa grow.

Risa, the FL, is considered cool, and she has everything together, in reality, she just wants to be like every other girl but gets stuck in her head. She also happens to start off with a crush, and all that comes with it.

Zen, the ML we meet, beat up; clearly a delinquent from another school hurt in the rain. But Risa by fate and with her trusty bag of everything, reaches out when everyone else passes him by. Emboldened by this moment, Zen declares that he owes her favors. And may the chaos ensue.

And finally, the art style is simply stunning. The illustrations are beautifully detailed and expressive, capturing the characters' emotions flawlessly. The mangaka's attention to detail is commendable, and the translations are done in a way that honors the original and doesn't overstate in areas, making it feel seamless. So happy I got to dive into another work by Fujimomo.

Thank you Netgalley and Kodansha Comics, for allowing me to read and review Love, That's an Understatement! IT is so good you must pick it up!

The art is pretty but I think I’m getting romantic high-school genre fatigue since they might as well be copy and paste like the isekai genre….

OMG that was so freaking adorable!!!😭
I love it so much!!😭😭😭

It's been ages since I last read a manga and when I was approved for this one on netgalley I had to read it right away and gosh, it was over way too quickly! I want more, because this is the cutest thing I've read in so long!
I love the characters, the humour is that wonderful dry humour that I love so much and their dynamic is just... I couldn't get enough of it!

Absolutely adorable, super cute, a MMC that has me swooning and a FMC that was immediately close to my heart, because she was just so... real in a way?

And to top it all of? The art style is absolutely gorgeous!! With lots of those big typical Shoujo Manga scenes with the flowers and shimmers and sparkle in those super cute and romantic and kissy scenes. *sigh* I guess this put me in the mood to go down the manga rabbit hole again. lol

10/10 would recommend to anyone that loves Shoujo and bad boys. 🥰🥰🥰
