<i>Let me start this off by saying I read a lot of thrillers (psychological thrillers are my favorite).</i>
We follow the story from multiple different perspectives, which I love in a book. Ben and Naomi move into a house with their 2 children and 1 more on the way. Naomi was pretty unsure and uneasy about the house at first but ultimately agreed to move in. Naomi becomes friends with the neighbor (Sara) and her boyfriend (Paul). Sara has children, both a boy and a girl (same as Naomi). They hit it off pretty well from the start because of this. Ben starts becoming different and secretive about certain things after the move, which is very uncharacteristic of him. Things start happening that makes Naomi question everything she ever knew…
This book was definitely a quick read for me. It had some pretty good twists, but a few were predictable to me as well. This could be just because I do read a lot of thrillers as mentioned previously. It was more of a slow burn with the “good stuff” happening in the last 30 or so percent. This was a middle of the road thriller for me, but I did enjoy it while I was reading! It has me curious to check out her other titles. 😊
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Sheryl Browne for this ARC.
I am new to this author although a fan of psychological thrillers.
Naomi, her husband, Ben, and their children move into a new home. Bad things begin to happen them, which seem to have something to do with the mysterious disappearance of a young girl many years earlier.
This had all the ingredients of a gripping domestic thriller, with characters who have lots to hide and many twists and turns along the way. But the title was a bit of a spoiler alert and the way the story panned out was not unexpected, although the final twist came almost as a surprise (it was hinted at in one scene). The characters were not very likeable, the women were gullible, there were too many contrived coincidences and, for me, there was too much telling and not enough showing.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy of this book.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the read/review of #MyHusbandsHouse by #SherylBrowne. This book has twists and some very dark secrets. Overall a good book.
I went into this book blind, and I'm glad I did. This one falls between creepy and thriller. Some creep and a lot of thrills. There is a twist around every corner. Ben and Naomi move into an older home that is quite dilapidated. Ben really wanted this house. Naomi wasn't too keen on it and felt something was off about it, but in the end agreed to purchasing it with her husband to make him happy. Once they move in, things start to go wrong. Naomi makes friends with the neighbor, Sara. Sara has 2 children the same ages as Naomi's 2 children. However, the older neighbor across the street and Sara's boyfriend take an instant dislike to Ben. What is Ben hiding> what kind of lie is too big to forgive? What would you do and how far would you go to protect your family? The book is so well written. I just loved Naomi and Sara. It kept me reading and reading and had so many twists and turns, I couldn't wait to see what happened. The ending is spectacular. Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it. I highly recommend this book.
The perfect house for Ben and Naomi Felton with two children and one on the way it's perfect for Ben's new job at the hospital, a house they can afford and big garden big rooms it was a bit gloomy but after been empty for twenty years with a mysterious history Naomi had big plans for their new home and would soon brighten up 13 Trowan Crescent.
Meeting and getting to know her two new neighbours Sara and Joan and the children getting along what can go wrong.
Then Ben changes he becomes argumentative, petty it's not like him maybe its the move and his new job is she overreacting? I just had to read on as all the characters unfold it has lots of fantastic twists.
Who is really her husband?
Oh boy Oh boy this is one mind blowing story that keeps you on your toes chapter after chapter, creepy very creepy that sets you into dark places with a powerful psychological thriller that I didn't see coming to make you shutter.
Lies always get found out, no matter how you make them into one heck of a story,
My Husband's House is one of them.
big five star's
Sheryl is one of my favourite authors and her books never disappoint! This one was another delight; full of twists and turns. It grabs you from the first few pages and I loved it!
WOW WHAT A BOOK!
This one started out strong and kept getting better. From the first chapter I was hooked and couldn’t put it down.
There are so many secrets and twists weaving all of the characters together. I really don’t even want to say anything else and spoil even a tiny bit for anyone. It’s that good!
My only question is, what was with the jam (or bloody) hand print in the kitchen. We never got an answer for that, and it’ll drive me nuts forever now.
This was my first book by Sheryl, and it most definitely will not be my last. I think I’ll be reading another by her very very soon.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for this delight of an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Sheryl Browne’s psychological suspense stories always encourage readers to ask questions about their own lives, this one is no exception.
How big a lie can you forgive? If the lie is told to protect you, does it make a difference?
Your heart will be racing within a few paragraphs of the prologue. You’ll suddenly realize you are gripped by the story, unable to put it down. Then anxiety will set in and give way to paranoia, and shock and then you’ll be left muttering, “Browne, you got me AGAIN!”
You’ve been warned - 13 Trowan Crescent holds some dark secrets!
After taking her time to allow Naomi Felton time to realize a threat, to understand the scope of it, who’s behind it, and then decide how she’s going to respond, Browne deliberately picks up the pace and relies on the disturbing eerieness to carry the story. Touching on monsters in our midst, dangerous neighbours, and manipulative and sociopathic behaviour, this story is FULL of surprises and paranoia-inducing, creepy happenings. My heart was pounding.
After my fifth book by this author, I decided to stop trying to predict what was going to happen because Browne always has a twist that comes from left field and leaves me gobsmacked. Her writing is her passion, her soul food, and it shows. I’m never disappointed with twisty suspense written by this author.
I was gifted this copy by Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
Pins and needles is what this book kept me on as I read what seemed like nonstop twists and surprises. Naomi and Ben Felton, along with their two young children, move into an old house that Ben seemed to have found for them but seems to give Naomi an errie feeling. Perky neighbor, Sara, lives next door and has two children of similar age who the kids become fast friends with. Sara's boyfriend, Paul, seems to hate Ben from the start and the feeling seems to be mutual. Hold onto your hat as the story takes on some very strange and twisty happenings and surprising developments.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this very suspenseful book which I thoroughly enjoyed and did not want to put down.
Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had light suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, and a few crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! It wasn't one of my top favorites but still worth reading! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
I was hooked on the first page. Ben and Naomi move into an old home with a haunting history. They have two children and one of the way. Naomi has no idea that a little girl went missing from the family that lived in that home. It’s been vacant for a long time and they got a good deal on the outdated home.
Naomi feels isolated until she meets the neighbors Sara and her boyfriend Paul. Sara has children and the kids become friends.
Ben personality starts changing and he is short with her but she attributes it to the move, his new job and the impending birth of their third child. Secrets start to come out and throws this family in turmoil.
Another amazing psychological thriller. Browne is the master when it comes to this genre. Chilling, haunting and twisted!
all books buy this author are totally different. And I think this one is the creepiest. But as all her books. A very addictive read, and you know from page one it's going to be a good one. Naomi and Ben have got to downsize there home as they need the money. they have a son and daughter and a baby on the way. The house they are looking at has been on the market for a few years. when they came to view, they met the Neighbour Sara who has 2 children, and she offers to look after their 2 children. Naomi feels the house is a little bit creepy and finds a teddy bear. But she decides it will be ok. but then things start to happen, and Naomi finds out from her new Neighbour and friend that a little girl went missing from that house. then Ben starts acting strange and Sara s boyfriend and Ben don't like one another. the story is so gripping. someone will do anything to get what is there's. I so recommend. These authors book s.
This novel takes you on a long an winding path full of twists. It has several characters who narrate the story by chapter, which gives you a much clearer picture of what’s going on. I did not see a lot of what happened coming, which for me is a very good thing these days. I loved the unpredictable elements especially. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great thriller that isn’t always predictable.
First off, a huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this amazing eArc!
This book was GOOD! I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want to.
I knew maybe halfway through that Ben & Paul were somehow related but the buildup to get there was amazing!
And the ending with Holly being stored in the walls of the house was JAW DROPPING!
I loved it and can’t wait to read more from this author!
The storyline is good, with little twists here and there. The ending was expected; however, it lack a certain flair that Sheryl Browne usually has in her story. Characters development is where I find it hard to like. It's not just one character, but all. Ben's character and his back story were extremely interesting. There should be more of his history in the story, yet it's a skip here and there. Naomi had no back story and didn't seems to develop at all. Sara is the odd character. It seems she's a filler for the lack of a better description. If I remove Sara's relationship with Ben and Naomi, the story will remain the same.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for letting me read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have read all of the authors books and really enjoyed them, there is always a distinct ‘theme’ to each book…..this book is based around ‘knowing people’ and ‘trust’ and ‘do you really, really know someone as you think you do?’
As always the story is full of the unexpected and although maybe this book had more ‘build up’ than BAM straight into it it was intriguing and kept you wondering just what was going on and what was about to happen….superb ending
Another taut and tense psychological thriller from one of the best writers of them.
( loved seeing Harborne where we lived for 8 years in print )
Once I saw this was available, I requested it straight away and just like the author’s other books was gripped from page one and this is a tense story built around a lifetime of lies that has now started to evolve in to Naomi’s present day live , there are a few twists and right up to the end I wasn’t sure which of the two main characters I believed. A five star read.
Well, well, well, miss Browne, you did it again! Messing with your readers heads sure is one of your talents, because you left me with my mouth open once again.
Psychological thrillers are made for tormentors to drive their victims crazy, but it seems like readers can be influenced too. I sit here and nod. Yes, it's all coming together the further you read. Every action, every word, every look has its purpose and the picture is being completed. And than there is that twist that made you doubt everything you thought was crystal clear again, leaving you confused in the best possible way because this is what makes a good book a great book.
I realised for the umpteenth time you never know anyone through and through. They only show you what they want you to see and when you figure them out, hell breaks loose...
I guess it's needless to say I enjoyed this book a lot. You must have got that by reading my thoughts. ;) 5 stars
Thank you
The red herrings in this book made it difficult to guess the ending. So many characters with so many different attitudes and secrets. Names that were not real added to the confusion. The main character, along with her husband, children, and unborn child, moved into another home. She thought they bought the house; her husband told her so many lies that she never knew what to believe. The past rears its ugly head to add to the turmoil of her life. New friends were not really friends. A homeless woman was not really a homeless woman. This talented author has written a cannot put down novel that while it is fiction, reads like nonfiction at times. This would make an intriguing television movie or a series. This book was sent to me electronically by Netalley. Thanks to the publisher and to the gifted author. Enjoy this mystery.
This is a fun domestic thriller with twists and turns. Nice sense of suspense that kept me reading steadily until the last page. I will be looking at more of Sheryl Browne's books. Recommended for fans of domestic thrillers and psychological suspense. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
