I really enjoyed this book! There were so many twists and turns and it kept me hooked throughout.

It was told through different characters perspectives and went back in time to tell the story. Each chapter revealing something new. The characters were fab and I really liked the mixture.

A very clever thriller that kept me hooked.

I always enjoy this author's books. They are written in a way that you plan on stopping at a certain point at night to sleep but then keep telling yourself, just one more chapter. I flew through this in record time, however, I didn't enjoy it as much as her previous books. I started losing interest towards the end and didn't like the outcome. I usually love when I'm surprised with the reveals but this just didn't do it for me. I still recommend it to my fellow mystery readers. This is one of those underrated authors that has so much talent and deserves the recognition. Three and a half stars.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Chloe and Elton have been travelling nurses, but decide to settle down in Portland.
Elton secures employment at the hospital and goes there to find a home and settle into his job before Chloe joins him.

Chloe is thrilled to be employed at the same hospital, but is horrified to find that she will be working with her ex-husband, Jameson.

She is tasked to do an analysis of the ever increasing deaths on the ICU where Jameson works. And she finds that his nickname is Dr Death. Could he be killing off his patients? She sets out to investigate, could Jameson be a medical serial killer?
She also has a secret that has to be hidden.

I am a big fan of medical thrillers, and this did not disappoint. I did sus out the ending quite early in the book, but enjoyed the unravelling of the story.
The topic of medically assisted suicide is very controversial, but I do support it in certain circumstances.
A very chilling, but thrilling book.
I recommend.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

A medical serial killer??? Tell me more!!

Jessica Payne is absolutely an auto read author for me. 3 fantastic, twisty and dark thrillers that I have just loved so much. The Good Doctor was billed as Greys Anatomy with murder, how could anyone pass that up? Patients keep dying around Chloe’s ex husband, Jameson. She needs to do something, but he knows what she did too. How is she going to stop him and stay out of prison?

This is one crazy thrill ride right until the end. While I have an inkling of how it was going to end, it did not take away my enjoyment one bit. I binged this in less than 24 hours was kinda sad when it was over.

If you haven’t read this author you’re seriously missing out. The Good Doctor is published on June 14th. Big thanks to Bookouture and Thriller Book Promotions for my advanced copy to read. Do yourself a favour and get this in your TBR

Wow. This story has many twists and turns which make you question which direction the author is headed. I started to guess the outcome but the author had one final trick up her sleeve. It was a good book but some implausibility around the ethical behavior of some of the characters involved. It also made me think about the doctors I visit and the moral dilemmas they face daily in treating patients.

In "The Good Doctor," Jessica Payne delivers an absolutely addictive and gripping psychological thriller with a killer twist. The protagonist finally has everything she's ever wanted: a career saving lives, a dream home, and a caring fiancé. But when she walks into her new job, she sees her ex-husband, and her past comes crashing back. The story follows her as she tries to keep her past hidden and uncovers a dangerous trend of dead patients following her ex-husband. The writing is phenomenal, and the characters are so well developed that readers will find themselves invested in them, even when they're supposed to hate them. This book is perfect for fans of medical thrillers and anyone who enjoys a good page-turner. The twist at the end is unexpected and will leave readers reeling. "The Good Doctor" is a must-read for anyone who loves a good psychological thriller.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of The Good Doctor by Jessica Payne. The last few books I read didn't really grab me so I was excited to get a copy of a book by an author whose books I have read and loved. Who better to write about intrigue in a hospital setting than an RN? You won’t know who to believe or trust in this well-written story that addresses a heavy topic. The characters were so well-defined they came to life on the pages.Make sure you preorder this one now so you get it as soon as you can. You won’t be disappointed.

Chloe is making a fresh start in Portland, buying a house and putting down roots with her fiancé, and starting a new job as a nurse practitioner at Portland General Hospital. Everything seems perfect, until she discovers she’ll be working for her ex-husband, Dr. Jameson Smith – an ex-husband she abruptly left amid tragic and suspicious circumstances. When she notices an abnormally high number of patient deaths, Chloe starts to suspect there’s a medical serial killer in the hospital, and she’s becoming more and more convinced that her ex is the culprit.

Jessica Payne has described her newest book as “Grey’s Anatomy but with murder,” and she’s dead on! (see what I did there?) Just like Grey’s glued me to the screen, The Good Doctor had me glued to the pages! I love the author’s writing style and the constant undercurrent of dread and danger. This then-and-now high-stakes medical thriller had patients and staff dying at every turn in both timelines, keeping me fully engrossed until the very last page.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me an advance copy of this book.

This book was absolutely fantastic. I loved the author's writing style had me gripped from start to finish could not put it down.

Chloe is the happiest she has been in a long time she’s got a new house, an amazing fiancé, and is about to start her dream job as nurse practitioner in the ICU. However on her first day she comes face to face with none other than her ex husband Jameson. She thought she wouldn’t see him again after she ran away after what they had done. Chloe now has to try and maintain her current life while battling her past but can she stop her ex husband from hurting anyone else and is her new life in danger because he wants revenge.

This is told in dual timeline which keeps the suspense going. Excellent thriller with a sensitive subject which was handled amazingly. Definitely recommend this to everyone who likes a book with mystery, murder and old secrets.

The Good Doctor by Jessica Payne
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Alright, So I finished this last night and I needed a minute to digest the story !

This bool centers on a topic that isn't discussed nearly enough. The right to die with dignity whilst fealing with terminal illness. The right to choose doctor assisted su¡cide as a method of doing just that. The book mentions Brittany Maynard - and I'm so glad it did - that she hasn't been forgotten. This is a hot topic , and carries a trigger warning for many .

Now : Chloe - a traveling nurse hits the jackpot when she recieved an email offering her a job shes been pining for . So, she moves , along with her fiance to Portland. Where , to her horror she will be working under the infamous Dr. Death. Who also happens to be her Ex- Husband.
Then : After watching TV one night she learns about medical serial killers and its all to relatable after she sees her husbands work first hand . She leaves him with nothing but a note and swears to herself she wants nothing to do with him - he is after all , a serial killer, right ?

The book was great, it was a speedy read . And I absolutely adore how Jessica figured out how to tackle a risky topic , and still tastefully managed to create a spine tingling psychological thriller .

I predicted the ending , about midway through- but unraveling the mystery and getting there was so much fun .

Newly graduated Nurse Practitioner Chloe is engaged to her fiancé Elton, they've just moved to Portland, and she's landed a new role in ICU in her new career. She finally had everything she ever wanted. The last person she expects to run into at her hospital orientation is her ex-husband Jameson. She abruptly left Jameson three years prior and she is afraid that the secrets will start to come out.

I loved the hospital setting in this one. I no longer work in the hospital, but miss it and this brought me back to my hospital days. I loved the Grey's Anatomy vibes. The author does a great job at portraying the lives of healthcare workers who work long hospital shifts. I am a nurse practitioner and I usually get annoyed with reading fiction books starring NPs as main characters because they are usually portrayed incorrectly. This is not the case in this book, so thank you to the author for getting it right! The twists and turns constantly kept me guessing for what would happen next. I really enjoyed this one!

Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Chloe is on cloud 9, she’s got a new house, an amazing fiancé, and is about to start her dream job as nurse practitioner in the ICU. However, all that fades away when on her first day she comes face to face with none other than her ex husband Jameson.

She thought she left him behind years ago when she ran away from him and what they’d done. Now Chloe must balance maintaining her current life and battling her past, and decide how far she’s willing to go to stop Jameson from hurting anyone else.

Grey’s Anatomy but with murder is the perfect description for this book. Especially as someone in the medical field, I found the setting and medical aspects to be so cool. However don’t worry if you don’t have a medical background, Jessica’s does a great job of breaking things down into simple terms when needed!

Told in my favorite format of dual timeline/ dual POV you’re left flipping the page to see how everything is going to come together in the end. And while I had an inkling of where the final twist was going I still enjoyed watching it all play out.

I absolutely loved Jessica’s previous two books and can add this to the list as well. Jessica has definitely maintained her status as one of my “if she writes it I’ll read it” authors!

The book is brilliant, mind-boggling and messed up. It’s a gripping psychological thriller. It’s a kind of book where people have facades and you don’t know whom to trust and whom to not. It was so twisted and messed up. It has been narrated in dual pov and in dual timeline; present and past. Like three years ago and now. The truth is twisted. The ending was impactful, unexpected, and satisfying.

So the plot is easy to follow, Chloe left Jameson three years ago, he is her ex-husband now and presently she is engaged with Elton. Since then a lot of things happened in her life but buried secrets have build a wall between Chloe and her ex-husband. Presently she gets to know that she will have to work under Mr Smith. She is both shocked and surprised.Did he came for vengeance? Or the truth is more twisted than it seems to be? Will Chloe be able to live her dream life?

The book had everything; slow burn suspense, serial killer’s mystery , ex-husband, past secrets, murder mysteries & a twisted ending

Thank you Netgalley, Bookotoure, and author.
