𝑬𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒀𝒐𝒖 by Meg Cabot was an absolute delight to read! The book had everything I love – small-town romance mixed with magic and fake dating. The setting was perfect for the spooky season, with a small coastal New England town vibe that was enchanting. The humor, hijinks, and magical world Cabot created were fantastic! Moreover, there is a high school nemesis who you'll love to hate that amps up the action-packed story, keeping you on the edge of your seat.

Jess and Derrick were such an intriguing couple, and their slow-burn romance added an extra layer of emotion to the story. I couldn't get enough of Derrick's mysterious background and nature. Jess's creative outlet for her magic through fashion was also very cool. It was amazing to see how she empowers women through her boutique and helps them feel good about themselves.

The entire cast of quirky characters added to this cute story, and I can't wait to see more of them in future books. 𝑬𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒀𝒐𝒖 was a fantastic book, and I'm already counting down the days until the next book in the 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙒𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙧 series comes out! Make sure to grab a copy of this one!

Thank you, @netgalley and @avonbooks, for the eARC of this wonderful book!

🥀Enchanted to Meet You Review 📖✨

3.5/5 ⭐️

I thought this was a cute read. I was a little confused on what powers Jessica really had, but enjoyed the story. The love story felt bit insta love and I didn’t relate to any of the characters.
I thought it was odd how the FMC POV was in 1st person and the MMC POV was in 3rd person. It was different take and I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about it.
Some scenes skipped around a little bit without much of a transition, but I liked the plot!
Also, who calls spaghetti sauce - gravy? 🍝That’s a new one to me. 😂

Summary:
In one week, the rift will open in West Harbor. Jessica Gold must team up with a high school witch, Esther, to help save West Harbor from doom. Will they be able to succeed and save the town?!

🥀Dual POV
🥀Witches
🥀The Chosen One
🥀Strangers to lovers
🥀Fake dating

I've read and loved so many of Meg Cabot's books but the newer ones continue to fall flat for me. The plot just isn't there and the romance continues to be lacking. Not sure if this is a me getting older problem or what but they just are not working for me.

Thank you to Avon, NetGalley and Meg for allowing me to be an early reader.

This was cute and reminded me why I’ve loved Meg Cabot books for so long.

Set in a quaint seaside town in CT, Jessica is informed she’s the chosen one needed to save her town from demon forces. Derrick is the leather wearing, motorcycle riding bad boy who comes to town to inform her of her role and train her before the big show down.

There’s some mean girl vibes, forced proximity, teenage spells gone wrong, fade to black romance scenes, and an ancient grimoire.

I enjoyed the cottage witch elements and the magical system. This added to the cozy, fall vibes of the book. The romance between Jessica and Derrick is what I expect from this author - sweet and easy going. But I wanted more from the magical battle at the end.

I felt a little let down that the plot about getting ready for the big magical battle just fizzled out with barely a bang. I was hoping for magical spells flying all over the place with people ducking and sending back a spell of their own.

I’ll definitely keep reading the series because the entertainment factor is there.

This book should have been a home run for me. Cozy romance, set in a waterside small town, with witches and a title inspired by a Taylor Swift song? I was programmed to enjoy this. And I did enjoy the start. In the first few chapters, we see teenage Jess’ love spell mishaps and grown-up Jess thriving as a clothing shop owner using small magics to help her customers love their clothes and selves. Heartwarming and fun! But this vibe was unfortunately all the book had going for it.

As soon as Derrick and the main plot about impending doom on West Harbor appeared, any semblance of plot or character building disappeared. The instalove is so so strong in this one. I don’t even mind instalove sometimes, if it’s between two fully fleshed out characters, but everything we know about Jess is surface level, and we know basically nothing about Derrick except that he’s hot. The best part of romances to me are the buildup - the fun, flirty interactions as the two characters get to know one another and become closer as a result. There’s none of that here - just some sex scenes that are meant to be steamy but ultimately fall flat since they happen too soon, with no built-up tension.

The romance is the main focus of the book, and the rest of the plot felt very tacked on as a device to get Jess and Derrick together. There’s some attempt at building a background about witch society that basically equates to Purebloods looking down on others in Harry Potter, with some mythology sprinkled in, but not enough time was spent on any of this to create something interesting. It seemed like Cabot picked out some themes she wanted to talk about and mashed them all together wherever they would go.

The climax comes quickly, with very little actual preparation attempted from Jess, “The Chosen One”, and her teenaged witch friend, “The Bringer of Light”, and it read like a very strange attempt to be woke in a witchy context from someone who doesn’t really know what they’re talking about.

I was also not a huge fan of Cabot’s depiction of a plus size character. One of Jess’ main character traits is that she loves to eat candy and often feels compelled to eat in stressful situations. This felt like a weird one-dimensional trait to give a plus size woman in what’s supposed to be a body positive book - it felt like it was saying that a main trait of curvy women is that they’re compulsive or disordered eaters, which is a harmful impression to give.

Overall, this was a fun concept and setting, but the plot and character building just failed to impress me. It was a quick read, so if you just need something with a cute, Stars Hollow-esque small town setting to pique your appetite for fall, maybe give it a try.

This book was really fun to read. It gives the same vibes as The Secret Society of Irregular Witches which I loved. I had a really good time reading this book.

The general vibe of this book was so nice. Small town with literally so many witches?? Amazing. I also loved the romcom aspect of this book, especially since there was no “will they, won’t they?” that usually gets on my nerves.

The main plot of the book is really focused in the last 100ish pages of the book, which to me made the first 200 feel really slow. I also didn’t love the last chapter, which really only serves to set up the next book. It felt really rushed and confusing to me, which kinda ruined the feeling that was left at the “true end” of the book for me.

Overall, though, this book was a really fun to read and very much gave Halloween vibes to me. Definitely will be reading the next books in this series to continue in this world.

Thank you Netgalley and Avon for the digital arc of this book!

Part of the charm of Meg Cabot's writing is that she writes fun, interesting characters. I absolutely loved that Jessica the FL is unashamedly plus-sized, the banter is fun and the side characters were just the right amount of smart. (Also, the chosen one trope is just so good! Especially when the prophecy comes complete with Derrick Winters trying to convince Jessica that she is that one.) I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romcoms, magic, the feel of a small town, and grumpy guys named Derrick.
I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read an ARC of Enchanted to Meet You in exchange for an honest review.

Cue me singing 🎶 ENCHANTED by Taylor Swift every time I picked up this book 😂. If you’re looking for a cute story about witches to get you in the Halloween spirit, look no further!

Told in multiple POV & timelines with diary entries & spells sprinkled throughout, it was a cute read!

The instant attraction between Jessica & Derek is palpable & there is just the right amount of spice throughout.

Centered in a small town in Connecticut, getting ready for the Halloween season, you’ll feel transported. I pictured the town in the 1995 CASPER movie 👻 .

You’ll experience love spells & werewolves with a twist of danger. This was a charming story 😊

This book was overwhelmingly bad. I only finished it because it was my book club's pick for September. The plot was a mishmash of plots- prophesy+ chosen one+ enemies to lovers+ Salem witches etc etc etc. Cabot's writing was disappointingly horrible and the characters are flat.

I absolutely loved this book. I loved that Jessica knew that she was a strong and competent woman who was good at her job and had a great support system. I loved that while she didn't need a relationship, having a good one makes her happier. Let's have more heroines like this in books! Meg Cabot is always a win for me, but she really did a great job creating a lovely world that I want to spend more time in. I can't wait to read the next story set in West Harbor.

⭐⭐⭐/5

• witchy rom-com
• fun secondary characters
• witty banter & light romance

Not the title being lyrics to one of my all-time favorite Taylor Swift songs... 🤭 I haven't read Meg Cabot in many years since I was a teeny-bopper reading YA. Overall, it's a cute and light story. West Harbor had all the small town, fall vibes. This is the first book in a series and I'll definitely check out the next installment.

🗣️ Thank you to @netgalley and Avon/Harper Voyager for the opportunity to read and review this book via gifted eARC! All opinions are honest and my own.

I couldn’t really get into this one. I don’t know why but I think it was the instalove? It all just kind of fell flat for me.

This was really entertaining and I liked the light witchy vibes grounded in reality. It was similar to the Ex-Hex or Witch Please. I am excited that this seems to be a series and I will definitely read more of this.

Enchanted to Meet You is a fun witchy romance that's perfect for Fall/Halloween reading. For me, there were periods of slowness, but they were made up for with the rest of the book that kept me turning pages. I really enjoyed this, and I'm hoping there will be more!

I love the cover (team purple!), love the title (any T.Swift fan would) and you can never go wrong with Meg Cabot. It’s a delightful read for this time of year. Looking forward to more.

Does anyone really want to be the Chosen One? Jessica Gold is sure shocked to find out that she might be. Especially because of the... incident... when she was a fledgling witch. But when handsome Derrick Winters shows up and says she's going to help save her town from the demons that come out every 90 years, Jessica isn't so sure but all of the evidence does seem to be pointing to the fact that he may be telling the truth. Along with the Bringer of Light, Jessica will help to save the world (or at least their corner of it.)
This was an okay start to a new series. A lot of world building meant that we missed out on the romance and that the characters weren't as well fleshed-out but it was a cute story and an okay start to a series.

Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC ebook.

As a child/adolescent, I loved Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries series (and the movies that were made based upon them). I requested this ARC book to see if there was an adult version I could fall in love with as well. - bonus points for witches.

Jessica Gold is a self-proclaimed witch who cast a spell as a young girl with terrible consquences. Due to this, she is banned by the World Council of Witches. 15 years later, Derrick Winters shows up as a member of the WCW, asking for Jessica's help, telling her she is the "chosen one." Queue the sexual tension and instant attraction between the two,

The mystery and twist in this fell flat for me. The characters, as most Meg Cabot works, were the draw of this story. Jess is relatable and funny and 'gets her man.' The world-building was also interesting, but the ending just didn't quite capture me. 3/5 stars.

I liked this book more than I'd like to admit, but still, this steamy, witchy novel was quite good.
A nice easy read.

Meg Cabot's books are so cute and perfect. This witchy one was the perfect read before going into the spooky season.

I have loved a lot of Meg Cabot books, but this one isn't my favorite. There's a lot of instalove going on with not much to back it up. The characters say how much they are attracted to/interested in and how great the other character is, but it isn't really shown.

There are some nice moments here and there, and I really loved Esther, but could have used some more character growth all around. The book felt rushed despite taking me several days to slog through it.

Also, Jessica is plus sized? Maybe I'm oblivious, but other than a propensity to stress eat chocolates, there's really not much establishing that fact. (I only realized it from the blurb/other reviews)
