I grew up reading Meg Cabot and typically love her writing, but this book felt so out of place. The plot was all over, the timeline confused me, and I felt like the goal was just to write a book with fall vibes. I did like the love interest, so two stars for that I suppose. Would not recommend and I won’t be reading others in the series.

A fun witchy tale for fall! I actually really enjoyed how it felt both high and low stakes at the same time. The writing was adorable! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Meg Cabot books have been with with me since 5th grade and now to get an adult series from her, yes please and thank you! Loved the flashback with our FMC Jess in middle school, high school, and college and getting those glimpsing of Cabot's writing that I've loved for my reading at those ages. Then the story is focused primarily with Jess in her 30's as a witch who has to save her hometown from a rift that happens every 90 years. She finds out about this curse from our MFC Derrick, and there is more magic that brews between the two of them. Highly recommend this light hearted witchy rom com, perfect fall read!

What it’s about:
In her teenage years, lovelorn Jessica Gold cast a spell that went disastrously wrong, and brought her all the wrong kind of attention—as well as a lifetime ban from the World Council of Witches.
So no one is more surprised than Jess when, fifteen years later, tall, handsome WCW member Derrick Winters shows up in her quaint little village of West Harbor and claims that Jess is the Chosen One.
She’s the Chosen One
Not chosen by West Harbor’s snobby elite to style them for the town’s tricentennial ball—though Jess owns the chicest clothing boutique in town. And not chosen finally to be on the WCW, either—not that Jess would have said yes, anyway, since she’s done with any organization that tries to dictate what makes a “true” witch.
No, Jess has been chosen to help save West Harbor itself . . .

Tropes this book has:
-Enemies to Lovers
-Slow Burn
-Plus size FMC

This book is here just in time for spooky season. It took a bit to get into but once I was drawn into the story I just had to keep reading. Derrick is definitely book boyfriend material - kind, loving and a cat lover. I love the FMC plus size representation of Jessica! Plus size hero’s are my favorite.
If you are looking for witches, spells and curses then this book is for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the ARC.

Omg, this was so cute and so fun! I had the best time reading this and just zipped right through. I liked that it asked us to just believe, and made a point of marking everyone already believe; I find it annoying when the book spends so much time with characters trying to convince other characters that magic is real. All the characters were pretty likeable and I’m looking forward to the next book.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Enchanted to Meet You by Meg Cabot is about Jessica Gold, a witch all her life, but never allowed membership in the World Counsel of Witches. Jess, a grown woman, owner of a clothing store, and secret witch is approached one day by Derrick Winters. He tells her that she is the chosen one and is the key to saving her town before it and its residents are destroyed. Derrick and Jessica work together to save the town and grow very close in the process if you know what I mean.
This book is a lovely small town witchy romance with an amazing plot line. Jessica's life changes greatly by the end of this book. She gets a newfound confidence with the weight of the town's survival on her shoulders and the new guy in her life. She is battling her past as she is focusing on the present and the short time window she has to figure out how she will pull it off.
I loved Jessica's mentee Ester who is another important character in this story. Her character was unique for a high school student. She was extremely confident and sure of herself and the task at hand, even more so than Jessica who is supposed to be her guide. However it works in a good way that you can see her power through this attitude.
I was disappointed in the ending. Without spoilers I was hoping for a much more grand ending since you spend most of the book as a lead up to this event. It seemed to easy and short. I also was distracted from the story at times with the political statements that seem to not flow in the story itself. It just felt a little jarring.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to my friends and cozy small town romance lovers. I will definitely look for other books to read from this author in the future.

When her small Connecticut town is threatened with disaster, Boutique owner Jessica Gold finds her self a reluctant Chose One. Due to an adolescent spell gone wrong and murky ancestry, Jessica has been rejected by the local powerful witches. Now she works with the mysterious witch Derrick and a powerful high schooler to save the town on the eve of its Tricentennial.

Overall I liked the book. Unlike the writers of Gilmore Girls, it appears that Meg Cabot has actually been to Connecticut. I liked Jessica and like seeing a Jewish witch. The book touches on magic as an example of the non inclusivity of closed clubs. I wish the Cabot had pushed that further and explore the toxic attitudes beneath the pleasant surface of West Harbor.

We had the potential for something great...

This book had its moments of charm. However, I must admit that I found the plot to be quite perplexing at times. While some pieces fell into place towards the end, there were still aspects of the story that left me scratching my head. Moreover, the romance element was disappointingly lacking – cue the heartbreak. Derrick and Jess were individually endearing characters, with Derrick's cuteness and Jess's humor winning me over. Yet, when it came to romantic chemistry, it felt like there was a missing spark, and I couldn't quite envision them as a couple

This was a fun concept. It had me laughing and I liked the core friendship group. I was left wanting more. The were certain portions that did not click with the story for me.

Halloween season here we go!! Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors from when I was younger, and as she's grown as an author, I've grown as a reader. That being said - her books always hit the mark for me and this one was no different. I really love ~halloween~ vibes, and this book is a cozy Halloween mystery with some romance thrown in. It's definitely what i used to love about Buffy + some romance, which is exactly what I've been in the mood to pick up.

Jessica, the FMC, is the ~Chosen one~ to save her town from evil on the night before Halloween, as she is informed by the MMC - Derrick, a silver-eyed witch. It's a mix of enemies to lovers/fake relationship/small town romance + the fun of Buffy.

If you like Meg Cabot's other books, you'll definitely like this book, as it has all of her key elements in it and is a really cute cozy read.

I've missed Meg Cabot so much! I have no idea how many of her books I've read but I know enough to know I've missed her fun way of writing.

This is one of her adult books (but not too adult) and she's back in the supernatural world. I think this is only the 3rd adult supernatural book she's written. And the only one that's about witches.

Jessica Gold is a witch. A witch who's made some mistakes in the past but who's been living a quiet life running her clothing store.

When a mysterious man named Derrick tells her she the chosen one, she doesn't believe it. She's just a woman who found a book and tried some spells. She can't be part of a prophecy.

Derrick says her hometown is in trouble and he needs her help. Jessica thinks he's too handsome for words but doesn't believe she could be the one to help her town. The attraction between the two is pretty clear. To us readers, lol.

There's mean girls, best friends, crushes and romance. And fun. Meg always writes fun books. I don't know where (or who) is next for this series but I'll be reading it.

I’ve never read Meg Cabot before and I found the story to be okay. I didn’t connect with the characters and I’m not sure I will continue with this series.

This story is really cute - I love the idea and the plot line. The switching perspectives though? My brain cannot handle that. I really, really wish they were all in 1st person - or all in 3rd person - but having the FMC in 1st and the MMC is 3rd is overwhelming and I can't get my brain to stay on track with the story.

I absolutely adore Meg Cabot but Enchanted to Meet You honestly fell flat; I had a hard time even finishing as I never really engaged with the characters or plot. It's a cute story but honestly felt cliché, with a few bright points.

DNF @ 20%. The “love” spell where the MC took advantage of a guy sexually was disgusting. I honestly just couldn’t get past it, and it turned me off the rest of the book.

A must read this fall, Enchanted to Meet You pulled me in immediately with the chapter setting shifting between today’s problems in West Harbor and teenage Jessica’s diary. Cabot creates relatable characters that the reader is swiftly invested in. I love Jess, her enduring relationship with her high school best friends, and the mysterious witch, Derrick. Rosalie is the entitled rich girl you just love to hate, and while there is some redemption for her, it’s realistic. The Bringer of Light, Esther, is surprising in the best of ways.

Meg Cabot surprised me with the effects of past events on today's problems, but not always in the way that I supposed. The ending contained quite a few things I didn’t see coming, but was absolute perfection!

Very fun and cheesy witchy rom-com! This book was definitely a little silly but in the best possible way. It left me smiling and excited that this is the start to a series. (I will absolutely be picking up the next ones!) I didn't realize until I made it to the acknowledgments section that the author of this book is the author of "The Princess Diaries". After reading "Enchanted to Meet You", it makes perfect sense as this book does have a lot of feel good moments and heart. Also, I really enjoyed that the teenagers portrayed in this were not little jerks. Since so many books & movies portray teenagers as the stereotypical angry teen.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book!

This was such a fun read! It was more romcom than supernatural, but overall it was such a cute story. I really liked how it wasn’t too spicy but it was a Paige Turner, and he just had to keep reading. I have always enjoyed Meg Cabots writing style it’s mixed with fun and banter that you cannot help but love highly recommend this book!

Enchanted to meet you is the story of Jessica, a “cottage witch” finding out that she is the chosen one and needs to defend the town of West Harbor from evil during the night before Halloween. It was a cute story overall, I loved the chemistry between Jessica and Derrick and the secondary characters were the perfect companion for this story. I disliked so much Jessica’s school nemesis turned an adult bully that I was waiting for her to be more involved with the “evil forces” instead of just finishing the way she did. Overall it was a good book that keeps you guessing and wanting to know more and perfect for this Halloween season!

Thank you Netgalley and Avon for the ARC in exchange of my honest opinion.

This book was pure cozy magical romance and the perfect kick-off to my favorite season of the year!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I flew through this well-plotted book! I loved the short chapters, the high school flashbacks, the great witty banter, the dual POVs, the rivalry between Jess and her nemesis, the realistic bodies and chemistry between Jess/Derrick, the cheeky teenage Esther, and the genuine suspense & mission to save the town. There are great supporting characters and even a tricentennial ball! Readers of magical romance (with spice, yet not over the top) should pick up this book which released September 5th for their fall TBR. ✨
