Enchanted to Meet You is classic Meg Cabot- hilarious, engaging, and magical!

This was such a fun read, Cabot will send you on a fun ride with Jessica as she tries to move on from her past and embrace her future.

Loved the banter between Jessica and Derrick, and the magical work they live in.

Meg Cabot is legit my ride or die author. I will pretty much always auto-buy whatever she releases and I’ll usually love it. I’ve grown with her since The Princess Diaries to realizing she also had adult books and devouring everything she’s written.

This was absolutely no exception except now I need the rest of the series because it was so good I’m greedy and want more.

Plus sized rep? OF COURSE. I know I’m biased, but I do love how Meg shows her representation in her writing. Things just *are*. There’s not a big deal made or an obvious in your face, these are just characters who happen to be gay or plus sized or BIPOC but they’re mayors and entrepreneurs.

The story does resolve pretty quickly and I would have liked a little more explanation but sometimes we don’t need that. A good cozy book about witches (a gender neutral term!) trying to save their town and some minor fake dating and major romance thrown in. I saw a reviewer describe this as “peak Meg Cabot (in the best way!)” and honestly that’s the best way to describe it. Meg is the queen at romcom books and she has absolutely done it once again.

When Derrick shows up and tells Jessica she's the Chosen One, she has a hard time believing him. She has a lifetime ban from the WCW, and a guilty conscience from a teenage love-spell gone wrong. But Jessica *is* the Chosen One, prophesized to help the Bringer of Light save her small town of West Harbor from a rift and certain doom. There are several problems: 1) Rosalie, her teenage nemesis, is being sketchy, 2) the Bringer of Light is a teenager and 3) she's falling a little bit in love with Derrick and he's keeping secrets from her.

I am an enormous fan of Meg Cabot, and it started with The Mediator series and the - 1-800-Where-R-U series as a kid. As I grew up, I loved Queen of Babel and the Heather Wells books. I was kinda "meh" about the Little Bridge Island books, but I did read them. However, I feel like Enchanted to Meet You is a return to the early early Meg Cabot - paranormal romances. I've been dying for her to revisit the genre (when she released Remembrance I just about died) and I'm so pleased with this book. I noticed on Goodreads that it's labeled at #1 in the series, so I can't WAIT to see what else is going to happen in the West Harbor world. If you're looking for a fun rom-com paranormal romance book, look no further.

Thank you so much for the early copy of this book! I am such a big Meg Cabot fan – her Mediator series was my favorite growing up, so I was really excited for this supernatural romance from her after loving those vibes in the past. A plus-sized witch teams up with a handsome stranger to protect the town from dark forces.

The characterization in this is a shining point. All of the characters, including the side characters, are fun and interesting. They all have good back-and-forth, and Jess’s interactions with her best friend Dina are a real highlight. It’s a great female friendship. I also liked cool and clever Esther, and would’ve loved even more between her and her girlfriend.

I wasn’t super invested in the romance, though. While I loved Derrick and Jess as individuals, I just didn’t care about their romance much. Maybe it just felt inevitable when there was so many real questions in the plot? I wasn’t sold on the build-up or chemistry. The worldbuilding/lore was somewhat overwritten, as the politics of the council or the details of the curse and potential demons never really come into play, making it just needlessly confusing. As a result, the climax is a bit underwhelming. I think some people will enjoy how low-stakes and cozy it was, but I expected a little more drama and danger when ‘demons’ are dropped into the conversation so frequently.

Overall, this was a fun and easy read. It was fast-paced and entertaining, and I would definitely pick up future West Harbor books.

I was over the moon it to get this book. I can tell you that it started off slow in my opinion. But for the last 30% I could not put the book down. I really enjoyed Jessica as a character. Derrick was very interesting to me. His brother and his mother. Oh my goodness I could not stop screaming. I did think the ending was rather abrupt and how it all ended. The story resolved itself within about 5% and that to me. It was just so fast I wanted more. Overall, I really did enjoy it. And yes I would buy it.

As a teenager, Jessica Gold cast a love spell that ended up going terribly wrong. It not only earned her a lifetime ban from the World Council of Witches, but also assured she would never want to perform magic on someone without their knowledge again. It has been fifteen years now, and Jessica is happily single, a homeowner, and owns her own thriving clothing boutique, Enchantments. As she is busy with her annual fall sale, and lining up the women in town with dresses for the town’s tricentennial ball, a handsome stranger darkens the door to her boutique. Derrick Winters claims that he is there on behalf of the WCW, because West Harbor needs saving and Jessica is The Chosen One. But just when Jess is beginning to think that she and Derrick might have a certain magic of their own—and not of the supernatural variety—Jess learns he may not be who she thought he was. Suddenly Jess finds herself having to make another kind of choice: trust Derrick and work with him to combat the sinister force battling to bring down West Harbor, or use her gift as she always has: to keep herself, and her heart, safe.

This fun witchy rom-com is the first book in the Witches of West Harbor Series. I loved everything about it. I loved that the main character was a plus size, plucky witch who isn't ashamed of her curves. I loved her best friend from high school who was still her bestie. There was the mean girl in high school who just grew up to be an adult mean girl. There was the cat named Pye, the girls that Jessica mentored, the trivia nights. There was just so much to love about this book, and that isn't even including the whole "saving the town" part. If you are a fan of fantasy fiction, witchy romances, or you just love any kind of novel with witches in it, then this book is for you. I highly recommend it!

I honestly would read the encyclopedia of Meg Cabot re-wrote it and I mean that. This was absolutely WONDERFUL, I was already a fan of her writing but add a little actual magic to that and you have the perfect book. The epilogue left me feeling like more was coming and truly hope we get a sequel. 10/10 would recommend

I wish I could grant this book a magnificent 6-star rating out of 5; that's how much I relished every aspect of it. The narrative style, the effortless flow of dialogues between characters, the captivating storyline, and the sheer unpredictability of the mystery woven throughout the novel all contributed to an extraordinary reading experience.

"Enchanted to Meet You" introduces us to a witch whose magical journey commenced with a book she received as a young girl. However, despite her proficiency in magic, the established council of witches refuses to recognize her as a rightful member of the magical community. She lacks inherited powers and doesn't belong to any coven. Her world takes a surreal twist when a charismatic male witch arrives at her boutique office, revealing that she is the Chosen One responsible for saving their small town from impending doom.

Before picking up this book, my knowledge of Meg Cabot was limited to "The Princess Diaries," which I've only experienced through the movies (which I adored). It's a common reader sentiment - the books often outshine their film adaptations. After reading "Enchanted to Meet You," I'm eager to delve into Meg Cabot's other literary works. Based on the mastery showcased in this latest story, I believe she's an exceptional storyteller, and I'm certain her other books will captivate me just as much.

Derrick and Jessica, our pragmatic, no-nonsense magical duo, shine as a couple dedicated to saving West Harbor from impending disaster. Jessica's character exudes a serene resilience, unwavering in the face of negativity. Derrick, on the other hand, is refreshingly straightforward, wearing his feelings for Jessica on his sleeve. This focused narrative on the couple's mission to rescue West Harbor, rather than dwelling on the trials of mutual understanding, elevates the story beyond clichés.

The intriguing epilogue has me speculating about a potential sequel, and I eagerly anticipate its release. Meg Cabot has conjured a tale that is nothing short of magical, promising to delight readers just as much as her famous "The Princess Diaries" series.

“It is only with light that evil can be destroyed”

Jessica Gold & Derrick Winters are brought together by an assignment - and that is to save Jessica’s town, West Harbor. Little does Jessica know, but she is the Chosen One and must work with the Bringer of Light to restore balance to the town. But Jessica must find the Bringer of Light and get to know them all within a week’s time.

Meg Cabot gives the reader a love story tangled up in the heroism, of course. And with Jessica and Derrick, the flame is quick to light!

This was such a fantastic read and an amazing book to read for the fall!

Thank you NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an
ARC copy of the book.
Gosh. I really wanted more from this one. The plot, setting, and characters had so much potential! This one just wasn't for me, unfortunately.
Jess Gold is a "plus sized" cottage witch in Connecticut that meets a mysterious and handsome stranger who tells her that she's the Chosen One! She and the Bringer of Light are going to save West Harbor from impending doom and Jess is going to fall in love (??) with the mysterious stranger who also happens to be a witch.
Read this is if you like lighthearted, Halloween themed romcoms and you're not going to worry too much about the fantasy elements of the world building. Spice level is 0.5 on the spice scale. Our MC's love interest is muy one dimensional. The "plus sized" MC (who is described as a completely NORMAL sized person) is often portrayed as eating chocolate throughout the book to cope with stressful situations. Cabot spends lots of sentences describing how much Jess wants chocolate but is doing her best to focus. It felt a little like Cabot wanted her character to relate to the masses but instead it felt more fat-shamey (is that a word?) than anything.
Regarding world building and plot: there is so much we could have talked about in this book. I wanted more about the WCW, the prophecy, the vague impending doom of West Harbor, and I really really really wanted more built out about Gaia, Derrick, and Bart's relationships.
T really liked the first half of this one but it fell a little (a lot?) flat for me.

The moment I saw Meg Cabot had a new book coming out, I had to try to get the early copy of it. I'm so excited to say that I ended up enjoying this so much. This gives such comfy cozy fall vibes. Perfect for the fall! It gives all the witchy vibes with a bit of spice in there as well. Overall loved the relationship between Jessica and Derrick. It's extremely obvious, they're going to get together and I was here for it. I can't wait to see what witchy shenanigans they get into in the next book in the series!

*Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.*.

Perfect start to Halloween!

Jessica Gold had been banned by the World Council of Witches when a spell went really wrong when she was high school so she so she was very surprised when Derrick Winters said she was the Chosen One. The Chosen One who would save West Harbor from the rift that was going to form and devastate the town by implanting and protecting the Bringer of Light. Jessica was all about helping customers at her store Enchantments but could she save West Harbor and the Bringer of Light?

This is the perfect start to Halloween stories with Jessica needing to save West Harbor with the help of Derrick Winters and The Bringer of Light Esther Dodge.

P.S I want more about West Harbor!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This set a cute pace for starting spooky season! Fun, flirty, and full of witchy goodness, this book is what I imagine would be the poster child for “Halloween Rom Rom.” Here I am hoping I get an ancient grimoire explaining my witchy powers 🧙‍♀️

The story follows Jess, a plus-sized fashionista / witch who gets hot and bothered by the arrival of Derrick, the Viking witch who is there there to warn her; she is her town’s last hope and he was sent to help protect her.

In a small town where being a witch is secret and kept under the radar, can Jess save her home and keep the evil forces at bay? And will her heart survive the onslaught as well?

A perfect supernatural fall read!

After finding herself in the possession of a book of old spells in high school, Jessica Gold starts her journey in witchcraft in her small town. Now, witch Derrick shows up out no where and tells her that the town is in danger and only she can save it.

What a wild ride! I haven't read any of Meg Cabot's books since The Princess Diaries so I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was great!

The setting was perfect. The town felt witchy and also had that small town feel. It was like reading Gilmore Girls but make it supernatural. The characters all gelled together as well. Most were quirky and hilarious in the dialogue. Cabot's writing really sucks you in and is flawless. The development of the characters and the story worked so well. You want to be a part of the town and friends with these characters. I'm excited to see where this series goes!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC. All of my reviews are honest.

A Meg Cabot book is like a security blanket. Her voice is so distinct and familiar and comforting that I instantly feel like I’m fourteen again, devouring any and all of her books I can get my hands on. I think someone could hand me a book without telling me who wrote it, and I’d be able to guess it was her because she’s got such a specific humor and her pop culture references are always on point. All this to say, if you’ve been a Meg Cabot fan at any point in your life, you’ll love Enchanted to Meet You.

Honestly, I don’t even know what to say about this book except that it’s classic Meg Cabot goodness, with the perfect amount of witchiness to kick off your spooky szn reading. Protagonist Jessica knows she’s a witch, but still, no one expects a hot guy to show up and tell them they’re the Chosen One and need to save the town. But I appreciated the twist of how the Chosen One has to work to someone else to save the day, she’s not the only solution. Jess is a great lead – skeptical but still willing to work to save her town. Her narration is funny, making this a quick read even when the town is in great danger. I liked the few chapters from Derrick’s POV – I actually wanted more of them to flesh him out as much as Jess and would have personally preferred them to be first person as well.

This is honestly a fun, great book, but my only real complaint is the Billy Walker love potion plot line that comes early in the novel. The love potion thing just makes me a little uncomfortable, and it felt unnecessary once I got to the end of the book. I think the rest of the plot could have happened exactly as it did without any love potions, and the book still would have been great.

A quirky, enjoyable novel from one of the best. It’s like Buffy The Vampire Slayer for adults. Plenty of laugh out loud moments.

Thank you to Netgalley & Harper Collins for the opportunity to read this early and review! This was one of my most anticipated reads on my Netgalley shelf & did not let me down! This gave me “Return to Halloweentown” vibes in the best way - Jessica is a “cottage witch” just minding her business in her small town, clothing boutique when Derrick comes along and springs a huge revelation on her. This is the perfect cozy read for anyone wanting something cute and witchy with romance sprinkled in. If you loved The Ex Hex, The Kiss Curse, or Go Hex Yourself, I think you’ll love this one! I would’ve loved a bit more to the climax and more of an epilogue but overall I really enjoyed this one and hope there will be more to come from West Harbor ✨

Meh. This was fine.

Jessica is a witch back in her home town running her own dress shop. She is a proclaimed cottage witch without being a “heritage” witch so isn’t part of the coven. When Derrick some blonde hottie comes and tells her she is the “chosen one” and is going to save her town, hopefully.

Overall I didn’t connect with or care for the main characters nor feel a connection between them?
A little lackluster but a quick read.
I’d be curious if the series continues, I’d probably check it out with lower expectations.

Thanks to Netgalley and Avon/Harper Voyager for an eARC.
