Thank you to NetGalley and Meg Cabot for the opportunity to read an advanced copy.
Being approved for this ARC was so exciting for me, as I have loved Meg Cabot since I was a kid. There was a time when I could easily say I had read every book she’d written, and it was because everything she writes draws you in and hooks you from the start; this was no different. It’s always wonderful when an author you loved in youth continues to write works that grow with you and your tastes, and I’m very pleased to say I’ll be keeping an eye out for future Witches of West Harbor novels.

This was a fun read to kick-start spooky season! It’s an enchanting blend of romance, humor, and magic that was impossible to put down.
The story unfolds with a mix of teenage mishaps from Jessica’s past and her grown-up responsibilities in the present. The plus-size witch used a love spell when she was younger that went terribly wrong and brought her lifelong nemesis to the surface. When Derrick Winters shows up in the present, telling Jessica that she’s the witch chosen to save her town from destruction, she assumes it has something to do with her love spell gone awry. Only time will tell if her efforts are working while she tries to find and train the Bringer of Light, the second person responsible for saving the town.
This book was a lot of fun, and Cabot skillfully plays around with popular tropes, like the chosen one and fake dating. There was an engaging dose of the supernatural, cozy fall vibes, and small-town charm. Jessica’s lovable black cat, Pye, steals more than one scene, and the rest of the quirky characters add humor to the story.
I couldn’t give this a higher rating because I didn’t feel the emotional connection between Jessica and Derrick as much as I wanted to. They were saying all the right things, but it wasn’t believable. I was also expecting an explosive conclusion to the mystery, but the ending was very lackluster, in my opinion.
Overall, this was a fun, fast-paced, witchy read perfect for spooky season. Thank you so much to Netgalley and Avon for my advanced copy to read and review.
Read if you like:
*witches
*coastal small-town vibes
*Connecticut!
*plus-sized FMC
*paranormal romance
*Thanks so much NetGalley and HarperCollins for my first are!*
This was an entertaining paranormal romance that did a great job at showing body positivity and also showed a sapphic couple. I loved the characters and the small town setting. Jessica was so clever and creative, with a talent for finding her customers the clothes that makes them feel the best about themselves. Derrick is the mysterious, silver eyed member of the World Council of Witches (WCW). The side characters also lend a lot to the enjoyment of this book.
So, we learn that as a teen Jessica did something that put her at odds with the WCW. Years later she is working in her store when she is approached by Derrick Winters and told that she is the Chosen One. It is now her duty to protect her town. Add a touch of romance, and that's a magical combination.
Meg Cabot has been a favorite for years and she has done it again. Also, loved the small town spooky vibes. This would make for a great fall read. In all this was just a great, fun read. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the Witches of West Harbor books have in store.
Includes:
Enemies to Lovers
fake dating

I have been a long time reader of Meg Cabot books thanks to The Princess Diaries. Enchanted to Meet You is the first in a new series of West Harbor Witches. Enchanted is a cute, cozy, witchy romance that is a perfect fall read! As a bonus, every time I see the title, I sing it Taylor Swift style
If Meg Cabots name is on a book I am going to read it there is no doubt about that.
Things I loved.
Even though this was a Fantasy book the characters were relatable and real. Jessica was a girl whose struggles were real and the cattiness she experiences were just WAY TO RELATABLE. I need book two because I want to keep reading about her and her journey!
Over all this book was very fast past and it kept the readers engaged. Also helps where there is an attractive leading man too :P
When I worked with teens and tweens, I used to like to read what they did so that I could understand them a little bit. I found many of these books highly addictive. One of the authors who had me hooked from the first page was Meg Cabot with her Princess Diaries series. When she started writing books for adults - I was all in. When I received a DM from Meg Cabot (or whoever does her social media) asking to read an ARC for her new book which goes on sale this coming Tuesday September 5 - I was unbelievably flattered and totally excited.
And this book did not disappoint. The main character is Jessica Gold, a totally likeable witch. Yes, witch. She realized in her teens she had special powers which she has used sometimes to her detriment - until she is approached by Derrick, a handsome, mysterious visitor to her small Connecticut town, saying she is the key - "The Chosen One" - that is the key to saving the town from ruin and disaster.
And, like many small towns there are years, decades and in this book CENTURIES of interpersonal history. Cabot intertwines the impending disaster, the history of our past indiscretions and a budding romance masterfully. Moreover she does this in a way that feels NOT out of the realm of possibility. I read through the book identifying with various characters and understanding their feelings and sentiments. The ability to balance resonant characters with fantasy themes is what makes Meg Cabot's work so compelling. I genuinely liked Jessica and her family of friends.
I think this book is going to be first in a series and I am excited to see where the story heads!
Thank you NetGalley for an advanced E-Book copy of this title!
I read this book, and admittedly it took me a while to finish because I did put it down at one point to finish another book. I almost DNF this book, but I finished it. It started off cute, and I enjoyed the charachters but the story fell a bit flat for me. I did not really "feel" any sort of connection between Derrick and Jessica. It felt a little "instant" which is not something I usually enjoy reading. I felt the story was a bit confusing at times. The "chaos" we were anticipating and their solving of it was very anticlimatic. The very end was a bit redeeming.
Quick, fun, light-hearted read with witchy vibes.
I was hoping for some more supernatural elements and for the build up of saving the town from "otherworldly forces" to be more climatic, but it kind of fizzled... The storyline is tight and I'm not a huge fan of insta-love, so a better foundation and progression of Jess and Derrick's relationship would have built more of an emotional connection I was left craving.
Overall, Enchanted to Meet You is a delightfully fun read that's perfect for readers who don't like a lot of spice (there a few mentions but not on page) and are looking for an easy supernatural read that's perfect for your fall/spooky season reading list.

Thank you to Harper Collins and Net Galley for the early copy of this book. I love Meg Cabot and teenage me would’ve been so excited to hear this was coming out. I loved it, it was light and fun.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This will be a great pallate cleanser. It's an adorable, easy, quick read. Perfect for the coming Fall season!
Everything you would expect from a witchy novel in a small New England town. In this book, our main character, Jessica Gold, decides she is going to be a witch after her mom unknowingly brings home a grimoire of witch Goody Fletcher. Now, Jessica Gold is an upstanding member of society and business owner but one day her store is invaded by a random man telling her that she is the Chosen One who must find the "Bringer of Light" to save the town from an attack on Halloween. It was a fun novel full of friendship, love, secrets, figuring out who you are, admitting and growing from mistakes, etc.
It was quite sweet. There is a little bit of spice for people who enjoy it, but not too much that people who don't enjoy it (me) are uncomfortable. I will say, there was one throw away comment where two characters were joking and one said, "witch is gender neutral" and the other said, "well, let's hope he isn't gender neutral for Jessica's sake." I am pretty sure I am just overthinking about this but it just did give me pause for a second. Also, the ending was a little less "intense" than I anticipated, however it was quite fitting and wholesome and sweet and I did not mind too much, but I was a little shocked when the book was over. I think this is a series so I am really looking forward to seeing who the next book will be about, or what it will be about.
Ok, so the things I did like were important to any plot. I thought that the story arc was really well done, even if I thought that it was stiff and slow at times. The unveiling of different mysteries throughout the book, like Derrick’s past and what was really going on in West Harbor, was perfectly done. No notes on that account. Meg Cabot is also really funny, I had a good laugh multiple times throughout the book.
Oh, and Gabby and Estie were sooo sweet! I loved them both, the couple of teenagers they were.
But, I was not really into this book. I wanted to love it and It was cute and had a lot of potential heading into the Halloween season but it was also really slow to start and felt kind of stiff up until the very last chunk.
The things I didn’t like were just a lot of minor frustrations. I wasn’t super into either of the main characters - which makes getting into a book about them hard, obviously - and the CONSTANT withholding of like, really, important information was so annoying. Communication was so so so terrible. The book was also really slow to start. Even when I was a little less than halfway through, I was really just waiting for it to be over.
when Jessica meets hunky Derrick she discovers she is the chosen one to help save the town on Halloween. Cute story, and one I found hard to put down. Highly recommend.
[Actual Rating 3.25] Enchanted to Meet You is the first novel in the new series Witches of West Harbor. I’ve read a few novels by Meg Cabot, so I was curious about how this new one would turn out. As the main character, Jessica Gold, is plus size, I was also very curious how the representation would go as some novels go more “in your face” and others balance it more. As a plus size woman, I prefer the integration of a positive message without it feeling forced. This book did a great job, I believe, as it was part of Jessica’s character without being one of her only defining traits. Jessica is a witch, and she owns a clothing store in the small town of West Harbor, Connecticut. One day she encounters Derrick Winters who comes to tell Jessica that she is the “Chosen One” and needs to work with highschooler, Esther Dodge.
The pacing of the story is slower to build up to the main plot. Since this is part of a series, originally, I was not sure if it would be the same characters or just the same setting for future novels. Based on the ending and series name, it seems there will be new main characters with some overlap in setting and secondary elements. I loved that the story was set in Connecticut although there were moments where it felt like it could have been any coastal Northeastern place. This didn’t affect my enjoyment, but it is just the way I pictured everything. The setting was great to give it the smaller town feel with a slight spooky vibe.
The characters were good as the reader experiences different stages in Jessica’s life. There are a few details that didn’t feel well-described, such as Derrick and Jessica exchanging numbers/figuring out how to contact each other, but the larger details felt cohesive. The ending was a little anti-climactic and there was some info-dumping, but I can see how the world could expand in future novels. While the first novels in these types of series are difficult to find the perfect balance, this novel was, at least, a compelling read. There is some improvement that could be made in this story, but I can also see the potential in the rest of the series. Overall, this was an interesting read and I continue to look forward to reading more Cabot novels.
**I give a special thank you to Netgalley and the publisher, Avon, for the opportunity to read this entertaining novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**
Reading this was a great way to usher in the month of September and the beginning of fall and spooky season! I have adored Meg Cabot's books since I was teenager and I am so glad that she is putting out new books. Jess and Derrick had great chemistry and I liked all of the supporting characters; especially my fave lil void cat, Pye. I hope I get to "travel" to West Harbor, CT again soon and re-immerse myself in this light-hearted and magical world.
This was the perfect book to get me in the autumn mood. It was witchy and wonderful.
I love a small town romance and this had all the good points, quirky side characters, a high school rival nemesis, a big bad that is going to destroy the town and a handsome stranger that comes to help save the day. I loved Jessica Gold bold and fun personality. She knew what she wanted and went after it.
I love how her and Derrick just mesh together and seemed to work and perfect pair. Great chemistry and great banter.
The story was engaging and whimsical. I love Meg Cabot writings. She is an easy and witty writer that you just fall in love with all her characters.
I would highly recommend to anyone that like a chosen one, small town with lovely witchy fall feels.
This witchy romance was such a delightful read, with a playful tone and hilarious characters.
Jessica is a witch, and a fellow witch named Derrick comes to town to let her know she is The Chosen One. She reacts in a very sarcastic manner, and eventually learns that her town could be destroyed if she and a young teenaged witch don’t find a way to save it.
Jessica is a funny witch, from her sarcastic banter to the way she reacts to strange situations to how she chooses to hide things in her house. She was easy to root for and fun to read about. She and Derrick have great chemistry, which bubbles up quite quickly and leads to some great commentary.
The side characters are fun, from Jess’ best friends to her worst enemies. The antics of her enemy Rosalie were entertaining and made for some fun conflict throughout the story.
The big conflict wrapped up a bit more speedily than expected, and the actual witchcraft in the book is quite minimal, but overall this was a cute, lighthearted witchy read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
4 1/2
Jess Gold has always believed in magic and witches and after her mother gifts her a book, “Goody Fletcher’s Book of Useful Household Tips” (which seems to have some extremely useful tips that you won’t find in any copy of Good Housekeeping), Jess uses the book to help herself become a witch. While others in her community believe that you can only be born a witch because of something like a family inheritance, Jess sets out to show that she can learn to be a witch. Unfortunately for her, her first major spell has intended and unintended consequences.
Years later, Jess is enjoying her life. She runs a chic boutique, “Enchantments,” has a cat, and is happy enough until Derrick Winters rides into town (on his motorcycle) proclaiming that she is the “Chosen One” who must save her small Connecticut town of West Harbor with the help of the “Bringer of Life.”
It seems like a lot to Jess. Having to save the world (no, just West Harbor), track down the Bringer of Light, and train her before the end of the world (no, just West Harbor), especially when Derrick keeps disappearing and doesn’t really appear to be any help at all, well, except to ignite her libido.
I am smiling just to remember the events, humor, and snark of Enchanted to Meet You.
The Bringer of Life is one Esther Dodge, who could just as easily be called the Bringer of Snark and Wow. Esther is powerful but untrained and frequently so funny that I looked forward to all of the scenes she was in.
I also loved main character, Jess, who may be plus sized (or chubby) but who is not fixated on her weight but accepts herself as she is. She’s one of the best representations I’ve encountered. I liked that it was a case of it is what it is and move on.
Derrick Winters is the fantasy that rides in on a motorcycle, chiseled cheekbones, hair tied back, with Mommy issues. And you would have them too if you knew who his mother was.
Enchanted to Meet You is a pleasure escape. It made me happy.
Many thanks to Avon and Netgalley for sending me a copy.
This was a little underwhelming for me unfortunately. I was excited for this new series by an author that I've been reading for 15+ years. A few of her books I've even read multiple times (plus let's not forget the Princess Diaries movies that will forever be amazing and re-watched year after year) so I was looking forward to this one as I think the books with a extra element (be that supernatural or murder mystery) are some of my favorites of hers. Unfortunately, it just didn't hit the mark. Maybe because of the random back and forth chapters from present to past not being clearly defined enough, maybe how lustful and sex-oriented the FMC was throughout, or the insta-love vibe, but it just didn't hit the boxes for me. If you liked The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling you'll probably like this one or if you just need an easy read for spooky season that's not actually scary this one has some nice fall vibes.
DNF at 20% because it is very clear how Meg Cabot actually views fat people (junk-food crazed unable to process emotion without binge eating). I’ve had enough with fat people portrayed this way in media. No thanks.
