The absolute best story I have read in a long time. Will be sharing this one with everyone I know! THis was a cute one!
This is such a fun witchy romance! The book had me hooked from the very beginning. I thought it was sweet that the author had some excerpts from Jessica's high school days and then Jessica's adult point of view. I like the change of narrator in the story from Jessica in the past, Jessica today, and Derrick. It adds interest and I love getting different points of view about the same events.
The story is about a woman named Jessica Gold who is a witch but does not conform to the World Council of Witches standards. Their belief is that power is inherited, however Jessica believes that everyone holds some kind of magic. Derrick comes to town and tells her that her town of West Harbor is in danger of being destroyed by evil forces. Derrick explains to Jess that she is the "Chosen One" who will lead the "Bringer of Light" to saving their town.
There's a "mean girl" witch Rosalie who has had a rivalry with Jessica since they were in high school together. I enjoyed seeing that interaction throughout the book. (no spoilers here!)
This story was fun to read and felt like it could be a made for TV movie. I'm excited to see it labeled in some places as "Witches of West Harbor 1", as I'd love to read more about the town and especially Jessica and Derrick. I also love the (hopefully) subtle nod to Taylor Swift in the title "Enchanted to Meet You" and hope for more similarly Swiftie tiltles to come. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a paranormal romance on the lighter side.
Unfortunately this one didn’t work for me. I ended up DNFing at the 13% mark. I just knew I wasn’t the target audience by this point. But I hope others enjoy it and I think it will be a popular one come Halloween time!
Absolutely magical and enchanting as ever. A perfect fall read, right in time for pumpkin spice season.
Jessica, a cottage witch, is thrown for a loop after a visit from Derrick Winters. She is told she is the chosen one — responsible for finding the bringer of light. Otherwise, their town is in grave danger ahead of the tricentennial celebration. Even having her arch nemesis at school interfering at every corner, the book was a joy to read and a wild ride.
Derrick is the perfect definition of a cinnamon roll with a gooey center. Jessica — an absolute blast, quirky and full of whimsy? A match fated to be.
This rom-com kept all of the mysterious-ness and offered us a fast paced, witty, highly entertaining read we all know and love from the author, with a dash of spice.
I was so excited to receive this book and it did not disappoint. It’s the perfect, cozy witch story preferably read in the fall…or when you wish it was fall. I hope the author turns it into a series. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
This book is a perfect fall read! It will put you right in the spooky season spirit!
Jessica is a cottage witch who runs a clothing shop and lives and works in the small town of West Harbor. One day her life changes, when Derrick Winters shows up to tell her that she is the Chosen One. She has to find the bringer of light because her town is in danger.
I loved all the characters especially Derrick and Jessica. I loved how attached they got to one another throughout the book. You knew Derrick wasn’t protecting Jessica just because of his job anymore, you could tell he was falling in love with her. There are some twists in the end that I did not expect.
I loved this book so much! It is a rom-com spooky read with all the feels! This is book one of the ‘Witches of West Harbor’ so I am excited to see where this series takes us!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
I had this weird dream the other day. In it, I was sitting on my phone putzing around as one does when I got a DM from one of my all time favorite authors, @officialmegcabot asking me if I wanted to download a galley of her latest book “Enchanted to Meet You” and post a review of it. OH WAIT. THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED!
Jessica Gold’s life in West Harbor, Connecticut is perfectly normal. She runs a clothing boutique, does trivia with her best friends, and has a menace of a cat. Totally average. Oh, did I mention that she’s a witch? Her life, though a little boring, is quant and joyful. Nothing could possibly go wrong…that until a super hot blond man witch Derrick finds her and tells her that her town is in grave danger and she’s “The Chosen One” destined to save it. Between this, her town’s tricentennial celebration, and her high school arch nemesis (who, is also a witch) getting all up in her business, what else can go wrong?
This book brought me back. It’s peak Meg Cabot writing style: witty, fun, fast paced, and mysterious…but sexier. Jessica is such a fun lead. She’s caring, whimsical, funny, and overall, a person that I’d hang out with. Derrick is a swoon-worthy MCM who is the definition of hard exterior, teddy bear interior. The plot is exciting and keeps you guessing! Can’t recommend this enough. It’s perfect to get you ready for pumpkin spiced latte season!
It's a nice book. Harmless and entertaining. The characters are interesting and sweet, although a big underdeveloped. But there's a reveal towards the end which some people might be applauding but it totally turned me off the whole thing. I was questioning what was the point of the book and that twist really made me think why?
I've never read anything by Meg Cabot so didn't know what to expect- I requested the ARC based on the description, cause who doesn't love witches? It's very PG rated, although there's sex but just hints at it. And what really bugged me was there was lots of bullying which wasn't dealt with.
I'm torn between a 2 and a 3 star. It was a nice read and I liked the world she created. The lead character was so lovely. But the more I think about it and analyze it, I find problems. But in general, I had a warm fuzzy so will give it 3-stars.
This my first Meg Cabot book & I thought it was such a fun read! The witchy, small town vibes mixed with the fun characters & of course, the romance, were spot on. Perfect for the upcoming fall season & Halloween! I did feel like the plot was building up to a big “battle” that didn’t necessarily happen (at least not to the extent I thought it would?). I did still enjoy the ending, though, & will definitely continue reading the series as it releases!
Derrick finds Jess, a small town clothing boutique owner and witch, and explains the doom that will befall West Harbor unless she can stop it. Trying to stop the event that will end West Harbor all, all while avoiding her ex-boyfriend and high school nemesis, proves challenging.
Overall, I enjoyed it, and it was exactly what I was looking for at the time - a cozy, low-stakes, witchy, rom-com. I enjoyed the characters of Jess and Derrick and how they interacted with her friends and the rest of the small town. There were some romantic moments, but the spice level was relatively low.
I felt it was a little low on the actual magic side, and the end was very anti-climactic. There was a lot of buildup and mystery surrounding this apocalyptic (to West Harbor anyway) event only for it to just sort of...fizzle.

“My mother was magic like all mothers are magic: she loved me unconditionally.”
Jessica believed in magic from a young age when her father would tell her that her mother was magic but he didn’t mean it literally. Jessica was then hooked on a book that had magic spells written down on every page. Years later and she’s still reading spells from the book to hopefully win over a guy. We all know this is gonna go so smoothly.
Jessica runs a store in town and is fitting the mayors wife when a hot strange guy walks in and just stares at her from across the room. She soon finds out his name is Derrick and tells her she’s the chosen one who has to pair up with the bringer of light to save the town or all is lost.
Jessica ends up enchanting her crush Billy and let me set the stage. She’s more goth while he is a popular jock who never noticed her before. He starts following her around, shows up to her house and sits at her lunch table at school. Her friends are confused.
Her enemy, Rosalie, who mind you is also a witch but recognized by the council also wants Billy. Rosalie ends up convincing Jessica to give her the love spell to be with Billy after he becomes too obsessive and the spell wouldn’t break. Years later whenever they all run into each other Rosalie, who is a storm witch, always makes Jessica’s life hell because Billy still wants her but knows she doesn’t want him.
Derrick is a mysterious hot witch who shows up at Jessica’s witchy store to ask for her help in saving the town from utter destruction. He needs her to find a high schooler who is the Bringer of Light and is the second key to saving the town.
Derrik saves Jessica from a storm cause by Rosalie when she runs into her at the school after talking to Esther, the Bringer of Light. When they make it back home tension begins to form between the two but when Billy shows up at her door Derrick claims they are dating and kisses her.
Derrick is hiding a secret from Jessica about the truth of who he is & who he works with. Rosalie of course calls the WCW and reports on him & finds out that he isn’t apart of the council all while she’s doing spells on people without them knowing.
i don’t want to give away anything else that happens so I definitely would check this out if you need a cute romcom. This book has quite a few twists and turns but overall it was lovely. This book was fun, fast paced and entertains. I really enjoyed the characters and I hope we get another book based off a side character.
I read a lot of Meg Cabot when I was in jr. high and so I was very excited to read this book when finding out it was adult. That being said, this book felt very YA to me. I found it hard to want to pick up the book after stopping to then continue reading it. The plot seemed to be lacking some and there was an odd shift in POVs at random chapters. The whole plot of the book felt very disconnected and ended with nothing really happening throughout the book.
It was a fun fall, low conflict read. It gave fall vibes and was a cute read overall.
Thank you to NetGalley, Avon, and Meg Cabot for giving me an ARC of Enchanted to Meet You. I read this in exchange for my honest review.
The romance was in this was so sweet and cute. The way they come together and the way he talks about her. If you are looking for something really spicy this isn’t it. There are some steamy moments but it’s not a lot. I enjoyed the romance and the leading up to in essence dooms day. However I was kinda let down with the final showdown I guess you could call it. It was very anticlimactic. I expected something big to happen. It was repeated over and over that something big and life threatening was going to happen. Didn’t ultimately feel that way. I was also expecting something to be up with Billy. Maybe I read into that wrong. I gave a 3 because it felt like a let down at the end. But there were other things I enjoyed about it. I would still read other books by this author.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest rating and review.
3.5/5
I read and loved the Princess Diaries series as a teen, so when I saw Meg Cabot was coming out with a witchy adult fiction, I knew I’d have to give it a go!! This book was really cute. I felt the focus was a little too heavy on the romance and not heavy enough on the witches, but that’s just personal preference. I also felt like the ending left something to be desired. However, the book was fun, and overall I enjoyed the process of reading it!

Jessica old is a boisterous, and lighthearted boutique owner living in quiet West Harbor. As a highschooler her parents came home with an antique spell book previously owned by a witch from the 1800s. Casting a spell from the book that went awry she receives unwanted attention and a lifetime ban from the World Council of Witches. As an adult owning the chicest store in town Jessica is a practicing cottage witch over the elite and snobby in her town. Preparing for West Harbors Tricentennial celebration Jessica gets a visit from mysterious, sexy, motorcycle boot, and viking lookalike Derrick Winters announcing that she is The Chosen One. As The Chosen One Jessica needs to find the Bringer of Light before the town is destroyed by a sinister force.
I LOVED this book. I have always been a big Meg Cabot fan especially her Mediator series however it had been a while since I read any of her books and never any of her more adult ones. I was pleasantly surprised! The FMC was relatable and funky/fun. I loved that she was about empowering women with her humble choice to be a boutique owner. She was kind even to other characters that were awful to her. If Jessica was a real person, I would kill to have her as a friend.
Derrick is surprisingly both down to earth and oblivious. While he has described as wearing dark and moody black quite often its clear he is a gentle and caring person. For a MMC he only keeps one secret and I enjoyed that romantically it was virtually uncomplicated with just the one hurdle.
This book kept me sucked in between the chemistry of the main characters and the plot to rectify wrongs. While the period that most of the books happens in is only a few days the writing makes it seem like it went by at a normal pace which I liked a lot because I am not a big fan of the instalove trope. There was not a lot of lag in the plot. I felt like much of the events moved the story forward. I was able to easily get lost in imagining what was happening in the book without wanting to guess what was going to happen.
If you want to get into the feel of Fall, and spooky season, this book will set you on the right track!
This book is the first of a brand new series and is a standalone. We do have some flashbacks early in the book to help set the scene for how the main character, Jessica became a cottage witch.
This book has a few surprises that I did not see coming (those are the best!). I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of the book, where we didn’t quite know what was going to happen, it definitely kept me glued to the pages.
This was a pretty quick read and everything wrapped up pretty well by the end of the book. I’m definitely interested in where this series will go from here!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for an ARC of this book!
I grew up reading Meg Cabot and was so excited to see a new fall release adult cozy fantasy from her. I truly enjoyed reading about Jess in her enchanting small town. This book had the right combination of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Gilmore Girl vibes. I thought it was a fun fall read if you enjoy Cabot’s writing style and a low stakes romantacy.
I agree with other reviewers that I felt like the conflict of the books was resolved in a somewhat anticlimactic manner. Which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
You need to Blast Enachted by Taylor Swift while reading this book! It is so cute and enchanting.
Jessica Gold is a kitchen witch which according to the witches council is not a true witch. That is until the mysterious newcomer Derek shows up all over her life claiming she is the chosen one. She is the only one who will be able to save her small town of West Harbor from the demons.

Thank you, Meg Cabot, Avon, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Jessica Gold has been dabbling with magic since her teen years. When a love spell went wrong in high school though, she receives a ban from the World Council of Witches and vows to be more careful with her power.
Now an adult and owner of her own boutique clothing store, Jessica is surprised when a handsome stranger shows up at her business. Derrick, who has magic of his own, tells Jessica that her town of West Harbor is in jeopardy – and she is the Chosen One. Jessica is tasked with identifying the Bringer of Light, training her, and saving the town from destruction…all in the span of a few days. While training her protégé, running her business, and avoiding her rival, Jessica also finds herself becoming more and more enamored with Derrick. Jessica will have to protect her town and her heart if she hopes to get through this ordeal.
I originally requested this book because I love all things witchy. I didn’t notice at first that it was a romance, which I’m not typically drawn to, but I didn’t find the love scenes too distracting or lewd. I admired the strong female characters and found the plot was interesting and moved along well. The resolution of the conflict was a bit anti-climatic in my opinion, but the ending left the door open for more adventures that have great potential. A fun, witty read overall!
Meg Cabot has done it again! From reading the first Princess Diaries book when I was far too young to know what third base was (thanks for that info, Mia, sorry mom) to reading The Quarantine Princess Diaries this past spring, Meg Cabot has created a series that has brought me comfort all my life. To then discover that she’s writing a romcom in my absolute FAVORITE niche genre (witchy Halloween vibes, DUH) I absolutely HAD to read it. As expected, Cabot did NOT let me down. I read this entire book in the span of less than 24 hours (closer to 12 if I’m being completely honest) and could not get enough of it. In all honesty, I wish I’d taken my time with it for how fun it was. With everything a good Halloween lover could want (witches, romance, demons, and a prophecy about the end of the world (or just West Harbor)) I cannot recommend Cabot’s “Enchanted to Meet You” enough.
