Oh Meg Cabot.. you have outdone yourself with this one.

It's magic when you meet your match..
This is a beautifully written romcom that absolutely slays! Our story introduces us to Jessica Gold.. and clothing boutique owner in a small coastal town who.. you guessed it.. is a witch, who has been charged with saving the town from a dangerous evil threatening to wipe them all out.. Combine that with a mysterious handsome stranger.. a few high schoolers who are too smart for their own good, and a mean girls story arc. and you have one fantastic story that just keeps giving.

I love a good character with sarcasm and sass, and this book delivers on several.. did I mention Jessica is plus size and beautiful and smart?? One of my favorites of the season.. not too much spice but the overture is there, and I love it. Do yourself a favor and preorder this book now.. you are going to want this one for your shelves.. the cover is beautiful and will look great on your bookshelf. 4/5 stars.

3 stars for this magical, cozy cute read! (I’m also shamelessly loving that the title can be a 2020s pop culture nod to Taylor Swift.)

I’ve been a fan of Meg Cabot’s writing since The Princess Diaries, so I was very excited to have my ARC request approved by Avon. I went in wanting to love it, and if the manuscript had been edited only slightly so that it was YA or New Adult, I would have. I have to give it 3 stars because it is supposed to be a Paranormal Romance, and it just doesn’t quite get there. For an adult Paranormal Romance, it suffers from a very youthful tone and storylines, overplotting, lack of character development, and heavy-handed moralizing.

The novel follows a self-taught cottage witch, Jessica, and a natural born witch, Derrick, as they work together to fulfil a 300-year-old prophecy, which will ensure that Jessica’s small Connecticut hometown of West Harbor – a town that has a history of persecuting witches -- will still exist after Halloween.

Meg has a great voice, and when she lets free with her humor, using atmosphere/setting as character, and choice of random details in building character, her writing absolutely sparkles. There were some great hilarious moments in this book that reminded me all over again of why I love her writing. The text messages between Jessica, and her best friends, Dina and Mark (who have 3 beagles!), and everything about the Trivia Night were perfect. Jessica’s relationship with her cat, Pye. I loved how we get to know Jessica by watching her “glow-up” her customers with her fashion sense. We really do care about sweet, dim Billy who is genuinely kind, and deserves to be happy.

I loved the magical elements of the story, the quotes from Jessica’s grimoire, and the “Nine Rules” that good witches should follow. (All of these are good morals.) The underlying plot that there is a “Chosen One” that needs to prevent the destruction of her town from an apocalypse was not explained very well, though. I’m still not sure why Derrick was “sent” to West Harbor in the first place, or what his witch “job” really is? By the end, it seems Derrick didn’t actually “do” anything to prevent whatever bad thing was supposed to happen from happening. I also don’t think that the symbolic use of the wolves was clear.

I think this novel would have worked better if the plot had been simpler: Lost soul Derrick arriving to give lost soul Jessica a mission to mentor a young witch, and they end up finding true love! More time could have been spent on developing both Derrick and Jessica’s characters, and their love story. Instead, we got a paragraph or two of statements telling us why they love each other (after less than a week). We aren’t shown anything in the narrative about what makes them Fated Mates, other than that they’re both witches with complicated histories with their witchiness.

The only content that pushes this novel out of the YA or New Adult category is direct statements about sexual activity occurring between Jessica and Derrick. All of these statements are minor/vague, and none contain detailed descriptions. In all but one scene, sexual activity takes place entirely off-page.

Although most of the characters are adults in their 30s, they read as much younger. There are also overt, outright morality lessons and commentary throughout the narrative. The climax of the novel, in and of itself, is a straightforward didactic event.

For example, the novel includes statements like: “Magic is everywhere and in everyone”; “That’s the real crime—the crime of persecuting someone for their supernatural beliefs, a crime for which people around the world even today continue to be accused, and to suffer and die. I believe the court systems should be held accountable for this”; and “You did use your powers. Your powers of compassion and empathy.”

I do not object at all to a book that's about why it’s important to be a decent human being, and that makes direct statements to the reader about what that means. Those books are targeted to, and properly categorized, as middle grade and YA, not as adult fiction or Paranormal Romance.

Overall, this is a fun, cozy read for the fall, and should be enjoyed when curled up in a blanket and sipping a warm pumpkin spice-flavored something. This is also the first book in a series, and I am looking forward to reading the next one to see the direction the series will go.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Avon & Harper Voyager for early access to Enchanted to Meet You.

I really enjoyed getting know these characters - and always love a plus sized leading lady. Jessica and Derrick have instant chemistry, but can they trust each other to save her town? Lots of fun, some drama and perfect setting for a fall book.

Love the characters in this town and am looking forward to reading about a few more witches in this town (hopefully more books are coming for a series)!

Oh this was DELIGHTFUL. I absolutely loved each character, they were all really fleshed out and I can't wait to see where this series goes - hoping we follow different characters every time!!

I also adored the small town witchy vibes at the beginning, these fell by the wayside slightly for town politics but it still slapped.

Basically no notes. so fun.

5/5 stars! Thank you to netgalley & Meg Cabot for the ARC! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Enchanted to Meet You, I devoured every page. Enchanted to Meet you is a fake dating witchy roman. A male witch named Derrick randomly shows up to Jessica Gold's clothing store and tells her she is the "chosen one" and needs to save her small connecticut town from impending doom. Jessica doesnt know what to believe but after hearing of the strange happening going on in her town, she's on board to save the day with the help of Derrick and her young witch mentee, Esther.

Enchanted to Meet You was the perfect cozy fall read. Jessica Gold & Derrick's banter was adorable and the town of West Harbor made me feel so excited for leaf peeping season. This is a must read for Fall!

This is a cute seasonal rom com that is easy to read and a perfect “breather” book between two heavier literary fiction pieces. This book, in my opinion, leaned more towards young adult in my opinion, with insta-love and youngish adult themes and plot lines. This book is heavily embedded with paranormal activity and magic, which is not something that I tend to read.

Unfortunately I had to DNF this pretty early, around 15%. I could tell it wasn’t going to be for me. The writing was quite juvenile considering this was an adult novel. I was a huge Cabot fan as a teen and was looking forward to one of her adult books, but maybe I’ve also outgrown her writing style

I haven’t read Meg Cabot since I was a teen - think Jinx era - and this felt like coming home. Jess is a witch, and a good one- she uses her abilities to bring confidence to those who frequent her boutique. I need a Jess in my life! Derrick comes to her little New England town with scary news- they have a week, essentially, to save the town from scary supernatural forces.

While the stakes are high, this was a cozy, perfect-for-fall fantasy romance about love and warmth and community. Derrick and Jess came together perfectly— I swear they’re soulmates— and I loved Jess’s friends and Derrick’s, erm, quirky relatives. I also loved the little witchy chapter headers - I may try some of the little cottage spells! (Like how to make snow delicious, or drinking wine with friends.)

This is the book you want with a pumpkin spice latte and an apple cider donut. It’s a fall comfort read, and I am hopeful this can become a series of standalone romances! (Please, Queen Meg?)

All the stars to this beauty!

Special thanks to Avon and Harper Voyager for providing an Advanced Readers Copy for my review!

3.75 stars; very cute, easy, comforting read to get me in the mood for all things fall. It had everything I wanted; small New England town, witches, a bit of mystery, and fun banter. I appreciate a romance with an entertaining plot—the relationship development was definitely emphasized, but there was plenty going on in addition to our characters getting closer

I do have a hard time with “insta-love”, as it pulls me from the story a bit because it’s hard to believe. It’s also harder to be invested in a relationship that develops so quickly compared to a slower burn where characters really learn about each other. However, taking this book for what it was—a quick, cute, happy read—I was able to look past it and continue to enjoy the story.

Thanks to Goody Fletcher’s “Book of Useful Household Tips,” Jessica Gold has learned that it’s unnecessary to have a direct line of witchy ancestors — magic is all around you and you just need to know how to properly direct the sparkly energy. So, in West Harbor (150 miles from Salem), although she doesn’t qualify for membership in the snooty, exclusionary World Council of Witches (WCW), she’s just fine creating magical happiness for her dress shop customers. Until one day, she’s visited by Derrick Winters, not of the WCW but some allied magical organization, announcing that she is “The Chosen One.” Her pre-determined quest: join up with “The Bringer of Light” (a 16 year old high school girl) and close the evil rift about to destroy West Harbor (presently only having floods and wolf sightings). Sure. No problem.

The story is a delightful romp as Jessica, Derrick, Esther (the potential “Bringer of Light” team up with various friends to defeat whatever horrible thing is scheduled to happen next week (which coincidentally is Halloween). It’s a cute story as Jessica and Derrick get closer to the each other and the Hunter’s Moon near October 31. The banter is sharp and saucy and the teenage girls were just as smart and capable as the adults. It was a quick and enjoyable read — perfect for autumn! 5 stars!

Thank you to Avon Books/Harper Voyager and NetGalley for a free advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

Literary Pet Peeve Checklist:
Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): NO, but Derrick has impossibly-colored silver eyes.
Horticultural Faux Pas (plants out of season or growing zones, like daffodils in autumn or bougainvillea in Alaska: NO This is a book about witches which usually includes herbs and plants doing magical things, so no criticism on what’s real or not.

Wow what an adorably cute witchy romcom! This is my first time reading a Meg Cabot book, so I wasn't sure what to expect but I had a really good time reading this. It put me in the perfect fall mood! The small town setting in Connecticut was perfect! I basically devoured this book alongside drinking my pumpkin flavored coffee.

I really enjoyed each of the characters. Reading from Jessica's perspective was like reading from inside a friends mind or their diary (in the case of Jessica's past POV). Her inner dialogue was hilarious. Also what was hilarious was the interactions between Jessica and Derrick (the MMC). His grumpy and sarcasm made me laugh throughout the book.

It was a bit instalove-ish which is not necessarily my favorite thing, I do love a good slow burn, but I didn't feel like that ruined the overall story or anything.

This book was such a good time and I'm intrigued to read Cabot's backlog now to see what other cute gems I can find to read for this spooky season!

~Best enjoyed with an autumn scented candle and something chocolate to eat~

Wow! This book has me ready for spooky season. The witchy romance set in Connecticut gave perfect Halloween energy and would be the perfect companion to your PSL. As a Swiftie I also love the title and couldn’t help but hum a little whenever I picked this book up.

The writing was great—which makes sense because Meg Cabot has mastered the art of story telling. Maybe you haven’t read one of her books before, but I’m sure you know The Princess Diaries. The story was enjoyable, fast paced, and engrossing.

Jessica is a plus-size-thirty-something who loves her small New England town, the fashion boutique she owns, ~magic~ and her friends. One day her life gets flipped on it’s head when Derrick—a biker boy with Viking looks—struts into her shop and tells her she’s the “chosen one” who, with her “Bringer of Light”, will save West Harbor from an evil demonic rift. Talk about a first impression!!

In the start of the book we get a couple flashbacks that show how Jessica became a “cottage witch”;why her relationships with Rosalie and Billy are so complicated; why she doesn’t trust the World Council of Witches; why she feels like an outsider in the witch community.

Meanwhile present day, Jessica is trying to figure out what saving West Habor, being the Chosen One, and finding her Bringer of Lights entail but Derrick has gone MIA. This book was really fun, the witchy component was enchanting, and the romcom was cute. I might’ve preferred a bit more romance but it was still a big plot driver. The characterization was also excellent and the “cast” of other townies/friends were developed well too. Looks like this book is going to be the first installment of a series and I’m excited to see what happens next!

Thanks to Netgalley, Meg and Harper Collins for the ARC!!

First off can we talk about the title, swiftie here, and that was the first thing that grab my attention. This book was such a magically charming and fun paranormal read. I loved Jessica the FMC, she was so genuine and I loved how she used her magic to make others feel confident about themselves at her clothing store Enchantments. Derrick our MMC comes sweeping into to town to inform Jessica that she is the "Chosen One" and needs to help guide the "Bringer of Light" to save their small town, West Harbor. Sparks fly pretty quickly between the two which I did not mind at all. I sorta got a little bit of a soulmate vibe between them. Also, who doesn't love a fake dating trope. The "Bringer of Light" Esther is a high school teen who I absolutely adored. The main climax is pretty low stress and I enjoyed. Always nice to have a fun cozy read!

This is my first time reading Meg Cabot & I was super excited because she always gets fabulous reviews! I did enjoy this book since cozy/campy/witchy mysteries are my comfort picks! It felt a little immature for me- the FMC and her plight didn’t seem to resonate with me. Since I rated this 3 stars, I didn’t post the review to Goodreads, per my own decision. I feel like based on other reviews, I’m totally in the minority. I will absolutely check out other books by this author! Thank you so much to the author, publisher, & NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

Enchanted to Meet You by Meg Cabot was a funny and enjoyable fantasy romantic comedy with excellent fall vibes in a cozy small town, perfect for the Halloween season.

Enchanted to Meet You stars a witch named Jessica who lives in a small Connecticut town and owns a cute clothing boutique. The fun begins shortly before Halloween when Derrick comes into her shop and tells her about a prophecy that might involve her.

This book had delightful main characters as well as great side character friends. It also has some flashbacks to events from Jessica’s high school days, and has chapters from the perspectives of both Jessica and Derrick. Meg Cabot’s narrative style is friendly, light, and funny.

If you’re looking for a fun romantic comedy to read this fall, Enchanted to Meet You is a great choice.

Tropes/themes: fake dating, witches, small town in peril, Halloween season, forced proximity, mid-2000s high school flashbacks, dual timeline, multiple POVs, romantic comedy

I have mixed opinions about this book. I have really enjoyed this author’s work in the past but this book came up lacking. What I enjoyed: The characters were endearing and funny. And of course, fell in love in a matter of days, which I guess I can overlook. What I did not enjoy: She hit the now-popular checklist of cultural hot topics - ethnicity, homosexuality, sexism, misogyny, pagan beliefs, to name a few - but I find it annoying when author’s throw those topics in their book seemingly just to check the boxes. Furthermore, the storyline builds to this big demonic fight that was to happen and it was the biggest letdown, lackluster resolution I have yet to read - and was wrapped up in only a couple pages. It left more questions than it answered and was disappointing.

Amazing!!! Meg Cabot’s novels have been in my life since middle school and I’m

Delightful. As all Meg Cabot's books are. She has such a way with dialogue, and even when you think you're going to read it in the character of a prior book, she comes right out of the gate with fabulous, original voice and persona. It's always a joy to spend time in her worlds. It's a fast read, just flawless.

"Enchanted to Meet You" by Meg Cabot truly cast a spell on me with its enchanting blend of witchy romance and small-town charm. From the moment I delved into the pages, I was completely swept away by the magic of the story. This book is like a warm hug of supernatural delight that I didn't want to end.

I can't help but gush about how much I adored Jessica Gold, the relatable protagonist who finds herself in the midst of a whirlwind when Derrick Winters steps into her life. Their interactions are nothing short of magical, and the way their relationship unfolds had me rooting for them from the start. As I explored the quaint village of West Harbor alongside Jess, I felt a genuine connection to the characters and their world, making it all the more difficult to bid farewell when the story reached its conclusion.

Meg Cabot's storytelling talent shines brilliantly as she introduces a mix of humor, heart, and intrigue. The mishap-filled past of Jessica and the unexpected arrival of Derrick create a tapestry of emotions that kept me engaged throughout. As the story unfolded, I couldn't help but be charmed by the way Cabot effortlessly intertwines themes of trust, self-discovery, and the allure of the supernatural. "Enchanted to Meet You" is a captivating journey that left me with a contented sigh, and I happily award it 4.5 stars. This book is the perfect potion for anyone seeking a generous sprinkle of magic in their reading adventure.
