The author of Princess Diaries meets witches? YES PLEASE. This was everything I wanted it to be and more!

If you enjoy Meg Cabot’s other books, I think you’ll enjoy Enchanted to Meet You. This is the story of Jess, a fashion boutique owner in her small hometown in Connecticut, and also a witch. When a sexy stranger (Derek Winters) shows up at her boutique’s front door and tells her she’s The Chosen One, she laughs in his face. He can’t be for real, can he?
Except he is for real. Thanks to a hundreds year old prophesy found lying around, it’s written that she has to help The Bringer of Light stop the end of the world. Okay, not the world, but her small corner of it - West Harbor, CT.
I enjoyed the character of Jess, like most of Cabot’s characters, she’s both strong willed and a little slow to the punchline at times. She’s confident in who she is and is totally fine with being single. Derek was also enjoyable, though a little too alpha for my tastes at times, for the most part I did like him. My favorite character though was probably Derek’s mother. She’s a riot!
The climax of the story hit a little too quick and was fairly anti-climatic, and I wish there had been a little more of the aftermath to show how things settled between Jess and her arch-nemesis, fellow witch Rosalie. Overall, this was a cute romance. There were, *ahem* adult scenes, but they weren’t overtly graphic.
The ending sets up the next book in the series. I won’t tell you who it’s about, except to say that all of my guesses throughout reading this book were wrong!
So, should you read it? If you’re a fan of Meg Cabot’s other adult works, I think you’ll like this one.
I love a plus size FMC who does not mope about their body, but thrives in it! Jess is wonderful. She is big attitudey, colorful, and full of life. She doesn't think she is doing much real magic, little does she know, she is the Chosen One. Jess's power grows and with the help of the very dark, very handsome Derrick Winters, she may just save the whole darn town of West Harbor--and certainly her love life.
I was so pleased with this book! This would be a five star read for me if the pacing had been just a bit different. A great addition to witchy rom-coms. An awesome comp for the Supernatural Singles series and The Ex Hex series.
SUCH A GOOD BOOK!!!!!!! The cutest paranormal rom-com start to a new series! The story is very interesting & the two main love interest are great. A lil but quickly picked up. Love love love this author!
Dnf. The writing style just wasn’t working for me and it read more like YA than adult. Love the cover and title and that it has plus size rep, though!
A huge thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this ARC!
So, I'm late to the party on my review but I really, REALLY enjoyed this book. If you're like me you grew up reading the Princess Diaries series and have a deep-seated love for Cabot already. I really enjoyed her take on romantic comedy for us adults and this was the first title of hers I have read outside of her YA titles. It was fun, fresh, and just the right amount of witchy for me!
I was surprised at how accurate this book was. It really explained well the history of the Connecticut witch trials, and promotes the exoneration of those poor women hanged for simply being. The book was also really good, well-written.
I’m a huge Meg Cabot fan, and you can always expect a leather jacket, loving wearing man from her and she did not disappoint. I wished it was a little spicer but it was a fast and fun read. Great for the Halloween season!
I think a lot of people are going to enjoy this! This is a cute spooky season read and I would definitely recommend this to my friends looking for a witchy book!
"Enchanted to Meet You" by Meg Cabot didn't captivate me as I had hoped. Despite Cabot's reputation for crafting engaging tales, I found myself disconnected from the story. The initial chapters lacked the intrigue needed to hook me, and after reading around 20%, I decided to stop. While Cabot's characters and world-building show promise, they failed to draw me in. Overall, the novel fell short of my expectations. It may appeal to fans of Cabot's previous works or those seeking a light-hearted fantasy, but unfortunately, it wasn't for me
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am a major Meg Cabot fan. The first romance books I read were hers and they made me fall in love with the genre! Literally borrowing her books from my local library is a core memory.
This book is perfect for those looking for a light, cozy spooky season read. I loved the witchy vibes and the characters were so fun. There’s something about Meg Cabot’s writing that is so comforting and pulls me right in! I also really enjoyed the romance.
This is perfect for the fall but also just for whenever you are craving a witchy read!
The story was very cute. I loved the characters and their personalities. The instant love was a little annoying and unbelievable. It was overall a fun read!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this advanced copy of this book. What a fun read! It was funny and witchy and absolutely everything you would want in a Halloween read.
"Enchanted to Meet You" by Meg Cabot offers a delightful blend of romance and magic, showcasing Cabot's signature charm. The characters are endearing, and the humor is on point. However, the pacing could be more consistent, and at times, the plot feels a bit predictable. Despite this, Cabot's storytelling prowess shines through, making it an enjoyable read for those seeking a lighthearted, magical escape.
I hadn't read a Meg Cabot book in a very long time (since I was much younger), so I'm glad I had this opportunity! Doesn't hurt that Enchanted is one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs, so I was already drawn to the Speak Now vibes of the cover and title. At times it was hard to keep up with the plot and universe building, but I think now that I've gotten through it, the rest of future series books will be easier.
This was fun and reminded me of how much I loved Meg Cabot's books when I was younger. I really enjoyed the romance, it was sweet with a tiny bit of spice (only one semi-explicit scene) which I honestly preferred in the case of this book. It's definitely a witchy rom-com type of story. Very good vs evil, black and white, mean girl versus good girl narrative. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie, but in a warm and comforting way that I like as an adult woman who enjoys cheesy stories. I'm curious to read future books in this series! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy!
Super cute book with all the fall witchy, small-town, romance vibes.
I enjoyed it, but thought the overall story was a bit slow and the love between Jessica and Derrick was definitely insta lovey. Overall, I think this is a cute witchy book that is perfect for the fall cozy vibes.
Okay, this book? I LOVED IT. The romance is a delightful potion of fun and magic. The book's witchy and fun vibes, coupled with the enchanting world-building, make it a really exciting read. If you're looking for a light-hearted and enjoyable escape into the world of love and enchantment, this book is the perfect choice
Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books, and Meg Cabot for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I’ll be truthful, I have always LOVED Meg Cabot so to read a book in a new series by her at 33 was such a treat! This book was the perfect balance between magic, witches, and real life and I just loved it! My only complaint was trying to follow along with some of the names of the characters (definitely a me thing)! It was fun to read a new spin on witches that didn’t mirror the norm! I can’t wait to see where this series goes!!
This one is available now and I hope you consider adding it to your TBR!
‘Enchanted to Meet You’ by Meg Cabot is a seasonal foray into a world of witchcraft and romance, blending lighthearted humor with a dash of magical intrigue. The story centers around Jessica Gold, a self-taught witch, and Derrick Winters, a natural-born witch from the World Council of Witches. Their journey in the charming village of West Harbor is filled with magical challenges and a budding romance that seeks to bloom amidst chaos.
Cabot crafts a world that is cozy and inviting, with her signature humor sprinkling charm throughout the narrative. The magical elements, including Jessica's grimoire and the enchanting setting of West Harbor, add a delightful layer to the story. The humor shines, especially in the interactions between Jessica and her quirky friends, which are a highlight of the book.
However, the portrayal of Jessica, a plus-sized witch, feels lacking in depth and nuance, and at times even a hurtful stereotype. The book misses the opportunity to present a fuller, more empowered depiction, often overshadowing her character development with other plot elements. The chemistry between Jessica and Derrick is somewhat lackluster, with their romance feeling rushed and lacking the spark one might expect from a rom-com.
The narrative is at times overburdened with too many plot points, leading to moments of confusion and a feeling that the story could benefit from a more focused approach. Derrick's character, while central to the plot, lacks the charisma and depth to make him a compelling romantic lead.
Despite these shortcomings, ‘Enchanted to Meet You’ has its moments of charm and wit, with Cabot's writing style providing an easy and quick read. The small-town magic vibe and the cozy atmosphere make it a pleasant book for a casual read, especially for those who enjoy a blend of magic and insta-lust.
‘Enchanted to Meet You’ is a sweet, if somewhat superficial, addition to the witchy rom-com genre. It offers a light-hearted escape into a world of magic and mayhem, but falls short in delivering a fully satisfying romantic journey; it's a book that entertains but doesn't quite cast the spell it promises.
