Jessica Gold is a boutique-owning with, whose main power seems to be finding the perfect outfit for her customers. She hasn't performed actual magic since a love spell gone wrong in high school, but that all changes when handsome, Viking-esque, witch appears in her store. Derrick tells Jessica that he needs her help to save the town from destruction, leading them off on a journey full of magical family trees and high school memories.

A quick and cute read, just as I've come to expect from Meg Cabot. Jessica's friends, Dina and Mark, as well as her teenage protegée, Esther, provided some comedic moments, which lightened up the doom-and-gloom tone of the prophecy. The mystery of Derrick is what kept me reading, and it only got better once we began to meet some of his family! Jessica and Derrick reminded me a lot of Janet Evanovich's Lizzie and Diesel, including the pet cat.

The middle of the book was a bit slow, as the chemistry between Jessica and Derrick was minimal, even once they got together. Jessica's drama with Rosalie felt very childish, especially since they were supposed to both be in their early/mid-thirties. The history of the witches in West Harbor was interesting, and I almost feel the book would have benefitted from either having a POV from Goody Fletcher, or having Esther be the main character, considering her interest in the persecution of the witches.

I had requested an ARC of this book as Meg Cabot is one of my favourite authors! She writes beautifully and I always have a smile on my face while reading her books.

Her "Princess Diaries" and "The boy" series are my absolute favourites!

Thank you to the publisher, Meg and Net Galley for providing me with an opportunity to read this fantastic book before it is out in the world!

Now on to the review, I loved the title! It reminded me of my favourite singer, Taylor Swift's song "Enchanted"! And the purple cover!!! Beautiful 💜

The female protagonist is Jessica, a witch who is full of life and running a special boutique in the small town of West Harbor. Enter Derrick, another witch who announces an important mission for Jessica to undertake.

The mission is serious, so is the preparation. But it's not like how we see in movies with daily planning and plotting that happens to make sure that the mission is a successful one. In fact, we readers are not quite sure what exactly is going to happen on the fated day! That's what keeps us engaged in the plot. The book has wonderful warm characters! I loved Dina and Mark, right from their high school personas to their adult living together and still in love lives. I also enjoyed reading about Rosalie. I had forgotten how well Meg pens her villains! Rosalie will make you curious about her and dislike her at the same time.

The chapters each have beginning quotes signifying something special. I won't give away what those quotes speak about as that would be a major spoiler. However, it's nice and unique. Both Jessica and Derrick's points of views are covered, with Jessica having more chapters dedicated to her. We do go from Jessica's high school life and then adult life in a few chapters but the to and fro is easy to handle and fun.

Meg has introduced Ethan, Jessica's younger brother and Cat, Mark's younger sister in the final chapter and I really hope it leads to a new book in this new series.

This book is fun if you do not take it too seriously. It does not include Mission Impossible kind of action.

You'd love this book if you have read previous work of the author.

And there are two insane twists which I absolutely did not see coming!

Go for it!

P.S: There is a whole paragraph describing how Jessica has no methods of contacting Derrick and him responding that she will be able to if required. And then in the next few chapters, we see Jessica message Derrick and him actually receiving the same! Is it magic? Do did I actually miss the exchange of numbers?

First I would like to thank Avon and Harper Voyager as well as Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

While I really enjoyed the premise of this book I wasn’t blown away by the execution of it. The FMC is witty and entertaining and her relationships with her friends and mentee gave me a chuckle on more than one occasion. The romantic subplot drew me in initially but as the story went on seemed to fall flat in comparison to other aspects. The “Chosen One” portion of the plot also felt a bit rushed in the end for me. But the overall setting and dynamic kept me in it for the long haul.

I wanted to love this book. I’ve read Meg Cabot before (I loved the Princess Diaries as a kid) and was excited to give this a try! Unfortunately it just fell flat for me.

It felt like a middle grade book, but with a lot of cringey smut. The Chosen One thing is so played out. And the immediate romance just killed any redeeming qualities. The ending was so anticlimactic.

It wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read, but it definitely wasn’t great.

I am, however, super thankful for the ARC copy from Harper Collins! I would love to try more in the future. This book wasn’t my cup of tea, but I will always try again.

Enchanted is an interesting and captivating story. Just like all of Meg Cabot's books, it is easy to go through the light and comical pages, chapter after chapter I was often saying "just one more chapter".

“Enchanted to Meet You” is a magical tale from author Mag Cabot of “Princess Diaries” fame. Jess is a witch, complete with black cat, who hasn’t always had control of her powers. Hence, while running a boutique in her hometown of West Harbor, she is stunned when a handsome stranger (Derrick) announces that she is cast with the responsibility to fight the bad guys. Of course, learning how to use her magic correctly is what makes this story so entertaining.

Other than the “Princess Diaries,” I have not read a lot of Cabot’s fiction, but I did like the book. While this is not a true Young Adult novel, the writing tone and flashbacks reminded me a lot of YA fiction. Still, the light, face-paced writing will satisfy a variety of audiences.

Many thanks to Meg Cabot, NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A fun witchy romance with Buffy vibes. Fun story and characters and a fast moving plot. Really enjoyable weekend read.

I can’t believe I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this! Meg Cabot has been one of my favorite writers since elementary school, so naturally I was thrilled to read this early.

I got everything I was expecting — fun dialogue, great romance, and so many beloved tropes. Faking dating! Chosen one! Grumpy hero, sunshine heroine! It’s Meg Cabot, so you can count on a distinct voice, too.

This was also really cozy. I can completely imagine curling up with it again on a cool fall day and having just as much fun as I did the first time. Very much recommend to anyone looking for a witchy read.

I was so excited to get the ARC for this book, ive been a fan of meg cabot since my teen years, and i will say this book was a joy to read.

The main FMC is a plus-size witch who is caring and loves making people feel good about themselves as well as her positive attitude to most things in life, and her cute black cat! and is teamed up with a somewhat grumpy but adorable main MMC that has long blonde hair and striking eyes.. also resembles a hunky Viking! (which is a bonus)

There was drama, romance, and a plot that was easy to follow!

i would like to first thank netgalley, the publisher and meg cabot herself for providing me with an ARC for this review.

This was cute and very apt as an October read. There are witches, spells, doom to come to the town on Halloween…and a black cat. I loved that the FMC was plus sized and comfortable in her skin. I really liked the mentor/mentee relationship between Jess and Esther.

The romance was … fine? It wasn’t my favorite part of the book but it didn’t distract from the plot, either. Derrick was a strong enough love interest but I found his secret phone calls far more interesting.

I didn’t really like the flashback chapters … I think it was the childish nature of them. I like YA, but as kids these characters were awful. Seeing their changes as adults was interesting, especially Jess and Rosalie.

This was, to put simply, a cozy fall read. If you like books with witches, romance, and mystery, then I’d definitely pick it up.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an arc of this book.

I was very excited to receive an ARC of this book.

I have read most of Meg Cabot’s books for the last 20years, so I was very excited that this one was returning to the supernatural/paranormal themes of some of her earlier young adult novels. I was also pleased to see that this was for an adult audience too.

It is a short quick read but one that is packed with great characters in a fascinating world. I was immediately attached to the main character and her friends and loved the style this was written in. Which is classic Meg. It definitely felt a little reminiscent of the Mediator series in style.

The characters share great dynamics and dialogue and the use of different view points in the chapters helped keep things moving and tell the story in a clear and exciting way.

My only complaints are that it was too short, which meant that it was over too quickly, and that the world wasn’t fleshed out enough for me. I definitely finished it needing to know more about witches and the characters and the magic included in the story.

I really hope we get to see more of these characters and this world.

I have loved all of Meg Cabot's books and this is another great read! It feels like an awesome mix of Heather Well's dating/ snark and Suze's (Mediator) otherworldly abilities. I hope there is a lot more books in this series about Jessica and Derrick and their friends/ family and fighting the forces of evil!

A magical book with Buffy vibes.

Tasked with saving the world from vampires… oh wait, that’s actually Buffy. Let me start over. Tasked with saving her hometown from demons, Jessica works as a mentor to Esther so they can increase their powers and save West Harbor.

Derrick brings them together for this journey and, along the way, discovers he and Jess have more in common than just magic. And their love story begins ❤️

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Enchanted to Meet You to come out September 5, 2023.

Meg Cabot can write anything and I was absolutely thrilled to see she was going back to the supernatural realm. As I kid I read the complete Mediator series so I know what she can do with it.

Enchanted to Meet You was cute and fun, sucked you right in. It read like Buffy, but make it witches, if it was Buffy now in 2023 and she opened a boutique after being the slayer and needed to train the newbies to the slaying game.

I’ve been in a massive reading slump but I read every word of this book with gusto in a few short days and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Can’t wait for more from this and the Little Bridges series.

i would like to first thank netgalley, the publisher and meg cabot herself for providing me with an ARC for this review. i have loved cabot's books since i was a girl, so it was a delight to come back to her writing after a long hiatus.

this book has all the great cabot staples: an amazing heroine, a very hot love interest, and a bright and colourful setting. i have never been to the united states, but every time i read a meg cabot book, i feel like i'm walking through the streets of the setting side by side with our characters. this book was just filled with nostalgia for me, and i had a blast: i really enjoyed jess's character and her successful and happy life as a boutique owner. it felt so good to read about a character that was settled and satisfied with her adult life.

one thing cabot does right every single time is female friendships and this is no exception. i loved reading about jess and dina - be it during their high school time or in the present, both as adults who still matter deeply to each other and who make time to maintain the friendship. i had a great time reading about trivia night and i always marvel at how cabot manages to make all of her characters inner lives deep and three-dimensional. we always get a feeling that all the characters are their own people and could be the protagonists of their own stories if only the perspective changed a bit, and i always am impressed by how cabot manages to do that in a satisfying way!

the romance was sooooo good! jess and derrick has amazing chemistry and i really liked that their getting together wasn't the main point of tension in the book, but rather the paranormal shaneaningans happening throughout town. i enjoyed their banter and how derrick had to get past some of his insecurities to be with jess and admit that he's worthy of love. the scenes in which he shows his protective streak are amazing! however, it took me off guard that all the chapters in his POV were in 3rd person while jess's chapters were in 1st.

all in all, i had a great time. i wish we got to know more about the magic system, but i realize that this is not the goal of the book, hahaha. and all the little nods to natural magic made me very happy. i highly recommend this book to all who want a fun, uncomplicated romance with a dash of magic and lots of small town tropes. thanks again for the opportunity of reading an ARC!

Meg Cabot can do no wrong in my book. I’ve been reading her books for years and I have no plans of stopping. This one is a wonderful rom-com with a witchy theme! This one will be perfect to read in the fall when the weather cools down and the leaves change colors. All of the characters were so much fun to read about and I look forward to more stories about the witches of West Harbor!

I received an ARC from the author and NetGalley! Thank you for the opportunity to read this book in advance!!

It's fun and I liked it. A nice, light, super sweet, and quick read; perfect for some pre-Halloween witchiness.

But I think it suffered from not knowing what kind of book it wanted to be. Who is the audience for this? There is adult language and some adult(ish) level sexy times, but it reads more like it was written for a younger audience. There's talk about demons, but nothing too scary. The sexy times and talk are PG-13.
