Another adorable rom com by Meg Cabot! Just the right amount of supernatural element that works even if you're not into that genre.
I really liked this book, it was different than anything else I've read which was a breath of fresh air. I will be recommending this to my friends, and auto buy this author!
This story was filled with enchanting magic and was charming and sweet overall. However, the ending was a bit disappointing. The buildup to a potentially town-altering event clashed with the sweet yet mismatched tone of Esther's final speech. The ending felt like a throwback to a cheesy '90s teen rom-com, contrasting with the steamy romance and adult themes prevalent in the rest of the book. The revelation of Derrick's mom as "Gaia" felt overly cheesy and didn't align with the story's overall theme. Despite this, the book was sweet overall.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC!
I haven't read a Meg Cabot book since I was in high school, and I have to say I loved this reintroduction. I still love her writing, and that this was more "adult".
Enchanted to Meet You by Meg Cabot is a fun-filled witchy rom-com. Jessica Gold is a witch who is banned from the World Council of Witches (WCW) due to her lineage. She resents this but is content using her magic to make people feel beautiful and confident in clothes from her store. When a handsome WCW member comes to town and tells Jessica that she is the only person who can save her town from complete destruction, she has to put her feelings aside and team up with Derrick. As the two work together to save the town, the steam starts to rise and hygienics endue.
I love Meg Cabot’s dialogue and this book did not disappoint. The banter between Jessica and Derrick was spot on. The mysterious circumstances and suspense kept me reading far into the night. This was a fun, quick read with the perfect fall vibes.
I received this book for free for an honest unbiased review from Netgalley.
I wish more books were this well written. Characters were witty and the setting fantastic.
this was such an interesting change of direction for meg and i loved it!! obviously princess diaries is a classic, so i was super intrigued to get a glimpse of her newest release, thanks netgalley for accepting me! it was full to the brim of drama, a subtle lil hint of romance at points and filled with all things paranormal, creepy yet light? it wasn’t a dark book yet it focused on paranormal elements, which was quite refreshing to read, and the MC was absolutely hilarious and extremely relatable, honestly such a mood!! i gasped out loud at certain parts (once when my partner was sat next to me, very confused when i spoke ten miles an hour about the reveal haha) excited to read whatever meg releases in the future!
It was cute and filled with fun magic, but the ending was anti-climatic and a little disappointing.
There was a build-up of some town-ending event, from when Derrick arrived. But, while Esther's speech was sweet, I felt it didn't match the rest of the book. The ending reminded me of a sappy teen rom-com from the 90s, while the rest of the book featured steamy romance and adult-themed topics. And, honestly, Derrick's mom being "Gaia" was super hokey and also didn't make sense for the overall theme of the book.
As a whole, it was a sweet book even with some oddities.

this book was so magical!! seriously the perfect book to read in the fall because it has a little bit of everything you need for the perfect vibes. there’s magic, witches, past and present timelines, romance, and so much more.
in this book, we are following jessica, who is known as a cottage witch. she’s someone who learned magic when she was young, but the big magical society doesn’t really consider her to be genuine. one day years later, she is approached by a guy who says she is the chosen one and needs to work to save her town 🤯 magic and romance follows suit 🤍
this was super cute and definitely recommend!
thank you to avon and harper voyager for this eARC!
Picture it. I’m laying in bed one night and notice I have an Instagram message from MEG CABOT! I thought it was fake but it was really from her account asking ME if I wanted an early copy of her new book to read. That’s like asking if Harry Styles is my favorite member of One Direction. Yes! My entire life has been leading up to this moment! Now to the book…
This was so fun! Jinx has always been one of my favorite books by Meg and I’ve been waiting for her to write something else about witches since then. Imagine my joy when she did with not only a plus size character…she also has my name! It was literally like this book was meant for me. It gave me Once Upon a Time vibes with the picturesque town needing a savior to rescue it from disaster. Esther reminded me a little of Buffy with her calm demeanor and “of course I have to save everyone” attitude. Derrick rode his way to the top of the Meg Cabot main male characters list on his motorcycle. The only thing I didn’t love about this book is that it felt like the battle never happened. It was a big lead up to nothing in my mind. I’m ok if that’s how it was going to play out but even then I would have liked more of an explanation of what went down. The last two chapters of the book were so cute and had a perfect setup for a second book. I can’t wait for the next one! Well done, Meg! There’s a reason why I chose you as my favorite author way back in middle school 😻
Thank you to Meg Cabot, HarperCollins, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Enchanted to Meet You is the first book in the Witches of West Harbor series by Meg Cabot. In her teenage years, lovelorn Jessica Gold cast a spell that went disastrously wrong, and brought her all the wrong kind of attention—as well as a lifetime ban from the World Council of Witches. So no one is more surprised than Jess when, fifteen years later, tall, handsome WCW member Derrick Winters shows up in her quaint little village of West Harbor and claims that Jess is the Chosen One. Not chosen by West Harbor’s snobby elite to style them for the town’s tricentennial ball—though Jess owns the chicest clothing boutique in town. And not chosen finally to be on the WCW, either—not that Jess would have said yes, anyway, since she’s done with any organization that tries to dictate what makes a “true” witch. No, Jess has been chosen to help save West Harbor itself. But just when Jess is beginning to think that she and Derrick might have a certain magic of their own—and not of the supernatural variety—Jess learns he may not be who she thought he was. And suddenly Jess finds herself having to make another kind of choice: trust Derrick and work with him to combat the sinister force battling to bring down West Harbor, or use her gift as she always has: to keep herself, and her heart, safe. Can she work her magic in time?
Enchanted to Meet You is an entertaining and engaging romance. I like that the action and mystery of the story is balanced with the romance. Even as readers are getting to know Jessica and her circle of friends, as well as Derrick and his thoughts on things, the romantic feelings never overcome common sense and the ties of friendship, which I really appreciate. Being a Connecticut native myself, I could see echoes of some of our shoreline towns, and recognized some of the inherent snobbery that does happen, in very similar ways to what as shown in the book. But, the close knit and found family aspects of the town and the story are just as realistic. I thought the magical aspects of the story were well built, and the way the characters reacted to their part in the magic, was all very well written. I enjoyed the read and look forward to the continuation of this series.
Enchanted to Meet You is an engaging romance with significant character development.
I love Meg Cabot (Princess Diaries book series fan) and ofc, am a massive Swiftie - and Halloween lover - so I was very attracted to this book. The cover is also GORG!
However, that being said, I did have a hard time *getting into it*. It was paced slow at the start, and it wasn't super captivating to me, but the midway part of the book it really picked up (pacing wise). I do think I'd like to read the rest of the "Witches of West Harbor" series.
It was sweet and cute, but not my favorite witchy paranormal romance.
[Gifted by Avon & Netgalley - thank you! All opinions are my own.]
Quick Summary: A fantastical, magical wo-fi romance

About the Book: When a charming witch is chosen to be savior of her town, a number of peculiar characters and events happen upon the scene. Can Jessica Gold help prevent a prophesied apocalypse? Will Derrick Winters be able to win her heart or will he lose her forever? What is to become of those who dwell in the village of West Harbor?

Sincere appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Avon and Harper Voyager, Avon), and to NetGalley. Thank you for granting access to a digital ARC of this novel. It was a pleasure to read. The words I have shared are my own.
I had really mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, I really enjoyed the concept of the story but on the other hand, I found some faults with the story. I liked that we had a plus-sized character, but I thought it was weird she was basically stress-eating candy bars. There was just something about the way it was written in there that rubbed me the wrong way. Additionally, I felt like the end was a bit anti-climactic.
I am interested in reading Book 2, just to see where it goes from here. I would recommend this book if you're interested in a witchy romance book with some mystery-ish side story.
This book sadly just wasn't for me. I can see that other readers would love it, but I guess I wasn't in the mood for it. This book looks like it was very highly rated, so please forgive my 2 star review.
I love a good witchy-romance book. I have read many Meg Cabot books and this one ranked with the best. It was laugh-out-loud funny, a lot of sweet moments, The characters are great. I will definitely be rereading it next October.
I read 75 percent of this book waiting for something to happen.... The writing is good but the story is lacking for me. I like slow burns but this was ridiculous for me.. especially since the characters were supposed to be saving a town. I have no idea if they ever saved the town but if they did...they did in the last few chapters. Wasn't for me.. I'll wait for the movie.
LOVED this!!! It was kind of the perfect cozy pnr that pulls you in. The beginning is a bit confusing with the jumping back and forth but it's worth sticking it out if you need something that's an easy read without the big bad battle at the end.
