Thank you NetGalley for this ARC
I ended up DNFing this book about 60% in I tried to power through but the story just wasn't for me. It was meant to be a cute adult Witchy Rom-Com but read a little to Juvenile for me. There was no real connection I felt between the characters and our FMC acted 13 instead of grown and matured. I know this book will be loved by the audience it is intended for that just sadly wasn't me.
I hate giving poor reviews but this book just did not hit the witchy romance mark for me.
It felt like there were multiple different tropes that the author was trying to fit together into one story. Demons, a rift, the Mother of All, witches, etc etc... It would have been a better story if we just got to see a couple of these versus all of them mashed into a quick read.
The ideas were all right, the execution was not great. I'm so sorry, Ms. Cabot!
Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
What a fun read! I’ve read Meg Cabot since I was in elementary school and never been disappointed. So glad I can continue to enjoy her work. This was a great witchy season read. It’s funny and charming and all the best part of the Halloween/ witchy season. Jessica is tasked with saving her town, can she do it? I enjoyed the dual pov and the fact we got past and present really made this story work.
Cute. Witchy. Mysterious. Perfect for Fall! Enchanted to Meet You is a fun mix of subtle magic and overt fantasy set in a small town. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense but especially the people. Jess the cottage witch is the sort of character I’d make friends with in real life. She’s kind, creative, successful, and not really concerned with status or exclusionary clubs. She just lives her life trying to spread happiness and run her business without drawing too much attention to herself. I respect that and like the friends she keeps in her circle; their banter is super fun! And Derrick is a good guy. I liked the romance and think it’ll be fun to explore the other witches of West Harbor as the series continues.
This was such a great book! I love the characters and the story just flew by! I also loved the the MC was a plus sized girl, it's nice to have that representation in books. If you're looking for a fun and cute romance with some magic mixed in then definitely check this one out!
Meg Cabot has done it again. This book was sweet, Funny, and I can not wait to read more from this world she has created. Meg Cabot is an instabuy. All Libraries need this one. And the cover is gorgeous. Jessica is a hero we needed, she is smart and caring and willing to own her mistakes. Derrick was an great character too. I would love to see more with Jessica's Best friend. I love Meg Cabot so so so much. This was a cute paranormal rom-com. I really liked the characters and cannot wait for more goings on in West Harbor.
I've always loved Meg Cabot but it's always been a YA story. Now getting into her Adult books is just as fantastic. The same vibe is there and I'd even describe Enchanted as Princess Diaries meets The Good Witch. I loved the small town vibe, the entrepreneur/bad ass home made witch. The petty girl who still hasn't gotten over her highschool bull is so real, we all know that girl. I'm a little sad Derrick was blonde lol. I saw him with dark hair in my head 🤣
All in all absolutely loved every minute of this one.
I was beyond excited when I saw that Meg Cabot came out with a new book! I love all her other books. To my surprise, though, I didn't love Enchanted to meet you... from the very beginning, I just couldn't get into it. I felt like it took me forever to finish reading it. I don't like to DNF books, but this is one I probably should have. I feel horrible for leaving such a negative review, but I need to be honest. Also, Derrick, falling in love at first sight, rubbed me the wrong way. It made his love for her superficial more than actual love.
This was a very cute witchy read. The ending was a bit anticlimactic but I could overlook that given I really enjoyed the characters.
What cute and fun witchy romcom. From the first page I was pulled into this magical story. It was the perfect Fall cozy read.
Jessica is a self taught cottage witch that owns a small clothing boutique in the coastal town of West Harbor. When Derrick shows up one day explaining she is “the chosen one” and must help save the town from dark forces, wild things ensue.
I enjoyed the flash backs to her high school days, and loved how Meg Cabot really made me feel like I was walking the streets of West Harbor.
This was my first book (gasp!!) by this author, but definitely not my last. I am so excited to see that Jessica/Derrick/West Harbors story will be continuing! Thank you to Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Love a witchy read! Especially this time of year! Love the rep as well! I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to more from the author!
A fun fall read from Meg Cabot! I've been really enjoying the paranormal/witchy romance books lately and Enchanted to Meet You didn't disappoint. Can't wait to read more!
Jessica Gold has always dabbled in magic, though she fancies herself just a "Cottage Witch", but when a handsome stranger (Derrick) shows up in her quaint, tiny village things are about to change. Derrick tells her that West Harbor is in grave danger and that she is the "chosen one" to save her town from disaster!
This book was equal parts spooky and swoony, and it even hit me with a little spice when I wasn't expecting it. I think it's the perfect addition to a spooky season TBR, and the stakes are high enough to make it interesting to read!
This book was written for you if:
1) You're looking for a romantic and spooky book for your October TBR
2) You're a fan of a character realizing suddenly they are the hero of the story
3) You, like me, have to read every book with a title that is a Taylor Swift lyric
I received an ARC of this book (pub date 9/5/23) in exchange for an honest review and tbh, this book read like a YA book with adult themes versus an adult romance/fantasy.
I had such high hopes reading this in the weeks leading up to spooky season but I just couldn’t get into it. The general premise is right up my alley: a boutique owner moonlights as a witch and when a dark force threatens to destroy her town, she joins forces to stop the destruction before it’s too late. However, while that’s the main plot like 1% of the book is devoted to this potential world-ending force while the rest is a lot of random irrelevant subplots.
The whole book tried to tee up this alternate universe but there were so many characters and realms and organizations I legit couldn’t follow any of it. There’s also a romantic thing going on that didn’t quite fit into the fantastical elements and felt out of place. Ultimately nothing really happened in the course of 300+ pages.
Wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re solely reading for the ties to Halloween.
This was such a delightful and fun read! Perfect to get into the spirit for Halloween and the Fall season in general! I do wish that the narration wasn't so clunky, especially with the switching from first person during Jessica's chapters and third person during Derrick's chapters. I would have loved to known more about how he thought during this book, especially with how he felt about Jessica (I'm a sucker for a MMC who's head-over-heels in love with the FMC!). The characters were truly fun to read and helped with the pacing of the story, despite it being a bit confusing during the first few chapters going back and forth from present to past and back again. Overall I really enjoyed this book, thank you NetGalley and Avon for the ARC!
I held onto Enchanted to Meet You to read in the fall and I'm glad I did. This was a cute little romance from the queen Meg Cabot. It was a little slow for me to start, but I really enjoyed the mix of the paranormal in every day life. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
The book was good. Not my usual type of genre but I enjoyed the magic in the book. Very easy to read and follow along with.

I do not need to read "soft porn featuring minors" [THANK YOU to the bestie for the best quote ever]. Yes, there is a disclaimer at the beginning but 1. I do not think what I was reading was minor sexual content, especially since the MC is a minor, and 2. the way the disclaimer is, you think it is part of the story {until you do not}, but even with that, it was just like A "WOW, did I just read that??" kind of vibe. I am by no means a prude, but I also don't like books that have a distinct ick factor and that is what I was left with in my short read of this. I am both disgusted AND disappointed as I requested this due to my previous reads of the author - apparently her new stuff is just not going to be for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 STARS
Enchanted to Meet You is the perfect, fun, fall read. I couldn’t put it down. It will leave you craving more.
I voluntarily read an early copy.
This is the first of a new series by Meg Cabot. It introduces the characters of a small town on the eve of destruction in the midst of the town intrigues. The main character Jessica Gold and the mysterious protector who comes to inform and save it are drawn into the events and must save the day with the help of a teenage girl.
