DCI Danny Flint and his men were in a quandary of the rape and murder of the two women, both elderly citizens. Things could get any worse when their investigations led them into unfavorable territories. When a private investigator, a retired police officer, had a slight change of heart, things began unfolding.
This exciting police crime mystery was captivating, intriguing, and engaging.

Once again Trev Negus has excelled himself.

Yet another fantastic book in the Danny Flint series and I can't wait until Trev has written the next book in the series.

The plot definitely leaves you hanging with what Danny will do regarding his next steps in his career.

Fantastically written, great local knowledge of all the areas mentioned and a brilliant series of books!!

Tied in Death by Trevor Negus
Publish date April 30, 2023

A police procedural with several murders wrapped up inside as well as lots of characters that are fun to get to know. The author does a great job at uncovering certain clues to the reader in a manner that. Does not give it all away to soon. I have never read any of the other nine books in this series and other than maybe some background of the characters, I did not see any issue with this being a stand alone.

Thank you to NetGalley as well as the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.

Loved the front picture and that's what led me to request this book. I don't read many books of this ilk and this took me quite a while to plod through!! Plot was there and characters were well described but couldn't get past the monotony at times. Story seemed to be padded a little too much.
Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book

I received this book from Netgalley.

This book has a lot going on. There are a lot of people to keep track of and a lot of different things happening. As the book progresses there are just more and more people to remember and honestly, I'm a bit lost.

I believe this book is part of a series, so I'm not sure if they're all like this or if some have less happening.

At the moment I'm confused by the two different sets of murders and I sure hope there's going to be something to tie them together because otherwise it seems like some unnecessary confusion.

So, as it turns out... Way more than just two sets of murders! But it definitely got easier to understand and therefore more enjoyable to read. By the end of the book I finally had a better grasp of who was who and what they were doing!

This didn't really work for me...The storyline is not bad and that's about it. This is more a story about procedures and unfortunately the characters were, perhaps interesting, but there was no way to find out. Cardboard comes to mind...Pity.

Gruesome Crimes..
The tenth in the DCI Danny Flint series arrives with a host of gruesome deaths, new and old unsolved crimes and potentially more than one killer on the loose. With the usual gripping and well developed storyline, credible characters and a realistic detective and team as they juggle numerous threads. The plot develops well with plenty of twists and turns along the way.

I usually love this series, but for some reason I couldn't quite get into this. It felt a bit slow and steady at times which made my mind wander, however, I will certainly try the next instalment in the hope that it suits me better as I thoroughly enjoy the characters. Thank you to Inkubator Books for the ARC.

I absolutely adore Trevor Negus's writing and was over the moon to see another one come through for reviewing. Every single book he puts out is captivating, dark, and featuring cold blooded killers.

I enjoyed that there were multiples crimes to be solved at once, a lot more realistic of Police work and every time I read a Danny Flint novel, I am always mind blown about how anything got done before burner phones, google maps and the ability to search people on the internet. I enjoy the good old fashioned police work that these books demonstrate.

Tied in Death was exciting, full of bad people - without too much blood and gore. I find Trevor Negus hits the perfect balance of violent crimes, without being too shocking. As always, Danny's personal life features, which helps build him as a character and I love that the reader gets to understand in depth, the motivations for the crimes.

Fast paced, well written book - as with every other Danny Flint book in the series, a perfect 5 stars from me.

I always find it fascinating to read books set in the 80s because I was just being born and can't imagine how anything got done without all the technology we now have so I loved that this felt like an accurate police procedural from back then. It isn't like crime TV shows where results are given within an hr, this story has the basic police work trying to find the most simple thing and even writing donw statements lol.

I'd never read the series and would probably have gotten more out of it if I had done because there didn't seem tk be much background into the characters personal life or tbe dynamics but no doubt t that's already been covered in earlier books.

Not my usual cup of tea and a bit slow to start but I really enjoyed did for what ti was

This novel is set in 1989.

Trevor Negus’ writing gets better and better. In this latest book in the DCI Danny Flint series, Mr. Negus has penned a top notch police procedural and thriller. There are several investigations ongoing in the Major Crimes Investigation Unit (MCIU). With all the cases under review by the police officers, it gives a real feel to the story. It’s obvious that the police don’t only investigate one crime at a time. I imagine their desks are piled high with files that need to be triaged.

The nice thing about an ongoing series is that the reader gets a very good idea about the personalities and backgrounds of the individual police officers in the story. They become familiar, like old friends. Mr. Negus’ characters are reliable and consistent in their behaviors. I appreciate that in my books. Most of the books I read are series in nature because I like spending time with familiar people.

DCI Danny Flint of the Major Crimes Unit receives a telephone call about a deceased man in a business suit with his hands tied behind his back at a local archeological site at a place called Cresswell Crags..

So begins only the latest in the pile of cases being investigated by the MCIU.

What follows is an intense ride to the truth with DCI Danny directing his team and juggling the investigation with determination and grit.

I really enjoy this series and this may just be the best of Mr. Negus’ offerings so far.

I want to thank NetGalley and Inkubator Books for forwarding to me a copy of this remarkable novel for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed in this review are solely my own.

It took a bit for me to get into it but I’m glad I did finish it off, I don’t normally read books of this type but this has definitely changed my mind

This is #10 in the excellent DCI Danny Flint series but can easily be read as a standalone.

I always devour the latest Danny Flint book, and then have to wait impatiently for the next one! This series is set in the late 1980s and it’s really interesting to see how far police work, procedures, and methods have come just in those 35-ish years. Danny and his MCIU team have four unsolved murders that appear to be linked, and the pressure is on with the threat of the MCIU’s closure if there are no results. An absolutely brilliant, gripping read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for a review copy of Tied in Death, the tenth novel to feature DCI Danny Flint, head of Nottinghamshire Police’s Major Crime Investigation Unit, set in 1989.

The discovery of a tortured and murdered body on a lonely hillside gives Danny a headache. He and his team are coming under heavy pressure to solve the rape and murder of two elderly women, one of whom is the mother of the chair of the local Police Authority. His team is stretched so the discovery of a fourth body, albeit one who disappeared fifteen years ago, which is linked to the torture victim gives them more to work with.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tied in Death, which an excellent historical police procedural. I say historical because current crime fiction shows how far detection has come in the past four decades. They do have DNA analysis but there are no mobiles, and even more astonishingly they don’t record their interviews, even on tape.

The novel is mostly told from Danny’s point of view with the occasional interjection from the killer of the old women. This is quite useful to the reader as it gives hints about motivation and intent, but leaves enough out to still be interesting. There is nothing from the torturers, giving the reader a blank canvas to speculate on.

I was impressed by the discipline in the novel. The author builds each case step by step through forensic evidence, research and interviews, aided by the odd flash of intuition. There is no substitute for hard work in these cases and it pays off. I found it compulsive reading.

Danny Flint comes under great pressure in this novel with threats of closing MCIU if he and his team don’t get a result. He isn’t impressed and keeps working his way. I would have loved to see him battle it out, but ever the professional he keeps a lid on his emotions. There is little in the way of strong emotion in the novel, so a few verbal fireworks would have jolted the reader.

Tied in Death is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Trevor Negus delivers another gripping thriller in his latest book, Tied in Death, which is the tenth installment in the DCI Danny Flint series. This time, Detective Chief Inspector Danny Flint and his team are faced with the daunting task of solving four gruesome murders, which appear to be linked.
The pressure is on for Danny and his team, as the bereaved councillor, who is the mother of one of the victims, demands answers from the chief constable. Danny is also dealing with personal issues, which add to the complexity of the investigation. As the story unfolds, the team methodically piece together clues, leading them to some unexpected twists and turns.
Negus expertly maintains a steady pace throughout the novel, keeping the readers on edge with each new development in the case. His writing style is approachable, and the plot is easy to follow, making this book an enjoyable read for all audiences.
The character development in Tied in Death is well executed, and readers will feel invested in the characters' stories. The novel's finality ties up loose ends, giving readers a satisfying conclusion to the story.
Overall, Tied in Death is a thrilling addition to the DCI Danny Flint series. Trevor Negus's writing is engaging, and his storytelling is well-crafted, making this book a must-read for fans of the crime fiction genre

I love crime fiction – the twisted plots, the hidden clues, the characters and back stories. The Bone House certainly has two good intertwined plots, but that’s where it stops. This is Police Procedural with capital Ps. Plod comes to mind. The clues have flashing blue lights on them. The characters are hackneyed. And there’s no back story. Sometimes I read crime books and despair of the inevitable power struggles in the station and break-ups and neglected children at home. Often pages of colourful description of people and places leave one itching to get back to the story. Not here – and it’s only because it’s omitted that I realised how much I missed it, and how much colour is added by knowing more about the police and the villains. Back in the 1980s where this book is set, all the police work as a happy team, all respecting each other, ranks recognised, working all the hours necessary without issue or murmur. Family background is only mentioned in one case, and there’s a loving supporting wife and happy child. I don’t remember that period being so idyllic.
But, since this is the tenth book in the series, there must be a market for stories like this. The plot is good and it is undoubtedly well written (though I thought that the punctuation was too economical).
