Kiss Me is the fifth book in Samantha Chase’s The Donovans series. In this book second eldest son Patrick is featured. Patrick has become a real estate mogul in Laurel Bay. Starting out flipping houses when still in college, Patrick has grown his business into the premier real estate agency in the area. Along with Marissa Barrett, his assistant for five years- almost the length of the business’s history, the company continues to thrive and hit new heights.

Although Patrick and Marissa have worked side by side spending most days and many weekends together, they have shared little personal information. When Patrick finds Marissa at the office late one night he finally learns how bad her home life is with an alcoholic mother and a threatening brother strung out on drugs and laughing at the law. Since that night things have escalated with her brother, especially since her mother was hospitalized after she suffered a stoke. When he breaks into the house she shares with her mother, vandalizes the interior, and rings the exterior in gasoline, Patrick takes charge, first moving Marissa into his guest room for her safety, then coming up with a scheme to protect her and the house her mother has signed over to her legally.

With the over the top scheme Patrick has he and Marissa will marry for protection, her from her brother and him from the matchmaking efforts of his mother. Whatever could the myriad of unintended consequences be? This is a sweet friends to lovers romance. Told with such heart and well placed dashes of humor, Ms. Chase has once again produced a lovely and enjoyable novel. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!

Patrick Donovan, the top real estate agent in Laurel Bay, strives to maintain a private life while keeping his matchmaking mother at bay. Supported by his efficient assistant, Marissa Barrett, Patrick's professional success owes much to her organizational skills. When Marissa's personal life spills into her work, Patrick proposes a marriage of convenience to address both their problems—keeping her family at a distance and thwarting his mother's matchmaking efforts, particularly with his siblings' upcoming weddings.

Their relationship evolves from friendship to lovers, with Patrick hoping to shield Marissa, and while attempts to lead separate lives prove challenging, their inevitable attraction unfolds without explicit scenes. The narrative introduces a lively ensemble cast, including Patrick's siblings, their partners, cousins, and Marissa's brother Daren. As the Donovan family gathers, chaos ensues, weaving a tale of family, relationships, greed, addiction, acceptance, and love. The fast-paced, character-driven story is both heart-wrenching and engaging, with numerous dynamic characters and a subtly sweet romance.

Another wonderful story from Samantha Chase. I always know when I pick up one of her books that I am going to be completely sucked in and enjoy the heck out of it. In Kiss Me, we finally see Patrick Donovan get his HEA after seeing all of his siblings in relationships and so happy. It may happen in an unconventional way but the end result is amazing. Marissa has been Patrick’s assistant for 5 years and for as well as they think they know each other what they knew only scratched the surface. I love a good fake marriage between two amazing people who you just know are meant to be and that the fake won’t last very long. The family dynamic of the Donovan’s is so awesome and of course they welcome Marissa in this new way with open arms. Love how Patrick comes to the rescue for Marissa even though she has been so strong shouldering the burden of her not so great family dynamic. Once I started reading I was hooked and did not stop except to sleep. Loved it! Can’t wait for the cousins’ books!

This is a good book. The two main characters are Cassie and Brock. They were interns together. Cassie is a doctor on the west coast and Brock is a doctor on the east coast. Cassie comes to her hometown to see her father and take on a special patient. Cassie has no place to stay so Brock offers his guesthouse. Cassie and Brock start dating. They both fall in love.

This is a sweet light-hearted romance where two people discover the love of their lives has been right under their noses all along.
The Donovan family are your typical rambunctious overly involved family and I have enjoyed reading their stories. This is a series to lose yourself in, a little light escapism.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review

Kiss Me is a nice ending to the Donovan family series, well at least the first part of it. I liked Patrick and Marissa and truly believe in them and their love story, although it was a little fast for a marriage of convenience. It was great to catch up with the rest of the family and see their progress in love and forever. This one is a bit complicated by serious family issues with Marissa but all ended ok. Looking forward to starting the cousins series next.

Yay! Another Donovan’s story! After Jamie (in Charm Me) it is now Patrick’s turn! Now that his mother has found almost everyone of her babies settled, Patrick needs to find a way to get her of his back. When he finds his assistant Melissa crying at the office, he realizes that he virtually knows nothing about her private life. And he can’t help, but be a little intrigued (and a lot of attracted) to her. When he finds out Melissa needs help, he sees the possibility to help them both: a year long marriage. Easy-peasy.

Melissa always had a little crush on her boss. Patrick is nice, larger than life and always trying to help out. Unlike her family. So, when Patrick offers to help her, by pretending to be a couple, how can she refuse? But playing house may become more real for them then they had initially thought.

When the year is done, will they go for annulment? As with all the other books in the series, all the Donovans will make an appearance. And you know what they say: “Payback is a bitch!” so prepare for the sharky actions of the Donovans, when they try to best one another. As usual a lot of fun! Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Samantha Chase is the Queen of small town romance filled with characters you'll love, towns that have a life of their own, plots that just sweep you off your feet and into a bookcation that last forever.

What happens when a marriage of convenience collides with a meddling family? Who will survive the fall out? Is it possible that a workplace romance can ignite into something more and the need to help is from a much deeper place?

A sinfully sweet story that is must read romance.

Marissa and Patrick💖
A modern day knight with a heart of gold. Everything in his life was in order until his assistant is in danger. The feelings that they suppressed come to the surface when they make a deal...Marriage of convenience or is it just an excuse?
Great story that keeps you reading.

I think this was one of the best of the family stories. It was more straightforward and less “Mom” irritation. Patrick is a cutie hero, but I will say he possibly deserved better than Marissa who whined, cried, and panicked her way though too many scenes. Stay strong, Marissa! Be a thriver! Marissa showed times of great confidence, only to melt into despair and insecurity immediately at other instances. Sure, that happens in real life, but this character was a rapidly moving yo-yo.

Nice ending to the immediate series. The author has set up cousins coming in, so more to come!

I love my visits to Laurel Bay and I love catching up with the meddling Donovan family and this time it’s Patrick Donovan and Marissa Barrett’s turn to entertain us.
When Marissa goes to her boss Patrick for help the last thing she expects is for him to offer to marry her……but this is an arrangement that will benefit them both. Being married for a year will get his meddling family off his back and it will help Marissa as well so it’s a win win situation that is until feelings come into play.
So what happens when fake becomes real, one click and find out.
Kiss Me is an entertaining, fun read that drew me in and captivated from the first page to the last line. It’s a read with all the feels, I laughed, I swooned and I smiled a lot which all adds up to a great romance.

I liked the characters and the book had some funny spots. The pacing was a little off, and during the slower parts my attention tended to stray. But when things were happening, they were happening. Overall, and enjoyable story. *I recevied an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

4.25stars-KISS ME is the fifth instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult THE DONOVANS romance series. This is real estate investor Patrick Donovan, and his assistant Marissa Barrett’s story line. KISS ME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary..

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Patrick and Marissa) KISS ME follows the building romance and relationship between . Marissa and Patrick are friends but Marissa’s personal life is spiralling out of control, and in an effort to protect his employee and his friend, Patrick offers up a marriage of convenience, a marriage in which our couple has set an expiry date. Patrick Donovan never thought he would ever marry or fall in love but living with Marissa makes their ‘fake marriage’ seem all too real, a reality that Marissa struggles to accept. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Marissa and Patrick , and the potential fall-out as misunderstanding threatens the growing love between our story line couple.

The world building continues to focus on the Donovan clan, and their pushy albeit determined mother who wants to see all of her children married and happy. Marissa and Patrick’s spontaneous wedding is a bit of a black mark for the matriarch to accept; and Marissa battles between head and heart knowing their fake arrangement feels all too real.

The relationship between Marissa and Patrick is a friends to lovers; a marriage of convenience in which Patrick is hoping to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. Keeping separate rooms and lives is nearly impossible, and falling for one another was ultimately in the cards. There are no $ex scenes-everything is implied.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including all of Patrick’s siblings, their significant others, as well as cousins; Patrick’s parents Kate and Shane Donovan, and uncle Ronan. We are introduced to Marissa’s brother Daren. When the Donovan clan gets together, everything is a little frenetic and frantic.

KISS ME is a story of family, relationships, greed and addiction, acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is heart breaking and engaging; the characters are numerous and dynamic; the romance, once again, is subtle and sweet.

I loved this story!! Patrick has intrigued throughout the series so getting to see his why was great. Marissa is amazing and as her character has more time in this story we learn her backstory and she is one fierce and strong woman! Together they are a great couple and I love the premise of the start to their HEA. As always the family is present and we get some great couple updates and mom updates. The love of family, along with some of its frustrations, rings true in this story and series. Uncle Ronan had some great moments and also brought new characters through his children to this world. I can’t wait to read their stories🙌🏻 The dash of angst regarding their marriage fit perfectly and seeing how Patrick handled it had me smirking. And of course no review would be complete with out giving a round of applause for the amazing Mr. Meowgi 🐾❤️

Kiss Me by Samantha Chase was absolutely amazing and Marissa’s cat Mr Meowgli definitely steals the show.

A marriage of convenience, boss and assistant romance, banter, steam, and a spiteful cat? Yep- this book was amazing and kept me up ALL night turning pages. Marissa needs a loving family, Patrick definitely has a big family full of love.

The final saga in this Donovan Siblings series was an amazing steamy romance! Luckily, we get to follow the cousins starting September 19th with a new spin off series!!!!
