A great addition to an incredible series! Wonderful characters in an incredible setting. This book will keep you guessing until the end.
Poisoned popcorn ruins opening night at the movies and sets main character Charlene into another murder investigation aided by Jack, the ghost. As much as I love spooky things, I tend to stay away from books with paranormal characters. In this series, it works. The interactions between Charlene and Jack do add to the story. It is a lovely series, and I look forward to reading more!
I really enjoyed Mrs. Morris and the Wolfman. I like how the author is continuing to evolve Charlene's relationships, both with Avery and Sam, though in very different ways. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this, especially now that Charlene has finally opened her heart up to going on dates with Sam, even if they do take things super slow. The murder mystery was very clever and kept me guessing until the reveal. Several times I thought I knew who did it and why, only to be proven wrong. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Another delightful addition to the Salem B&B series by Traci Wilton. I have enjoyed the books I have read so far and look forward to going back and reading earlier ones that I missed as well as any further books released. The characters are well developed and the setting is delightful. Salem, Massachusetts is a perfect location for murder mysteries and paranormal activity. The fact that Charlene has her own ghost, Jack, as a resident of her Salem B&B adds to the story. The people that are part of Charlene’s life, Sam, Avery, and Silva, the cat, will keep your attention and invested in the story. I love getting to meet the people who visit Charlene’s B&B. Their personalities are so unique and I fell in love with, Lara, a precocious seven-year-old daughter of one of the families. The murder mystery is handled well and you are left wondering who is guilty until the very end. There are lots of twists and turns and lots of clues sprinkled throughout that have you rushing to the end! Though you could read this as a standalone, I would strongly encourage you to go back to the beginning and read from the first book so that you will have a background for many of the characters. I can’t wait for the next adventure with the gang in Salem!

Charlene Morris owns a b&b in Salem, Ma. She has a ghost friend, Jack who helps her with mysteries. Charlene and her sort of foster daughter go to a soft opening of the newly renovated Movie theater of their friends Elise & Darren. Elise starts to feel ill and starts to choke on her popcorn. An ambulance is called and Elise died at the hospital. Her husband is the prime suspect. Charlene starts to ask questions and does some investigating. She finds out a lot of secrets and hauntings are going on at the theatre.
This is my first book in the series. But I was able to read and connect with the characters. I love the paranormalness of the book. I'm excited to read more of this series and I'm glad to have found it.
This is my first foray into this series. I enjoyed my visit to Salem and will return. Charlene can be annoying at times, but her relationship with Avery is sweet. I like the unexpected twist of a resident ghost/investigative partner.
Charlene Morris runs a B&B in Salem, Massachusetts. She is enjoying an evening at the opening of a local movie theater. The draw will be old movies, many of them the old horror movies and specialty salts on the popcorn. While at the event, the owners wife falls ill and dies. It is determined that she was poisoned and the finger is pointing at her husband. Charlene doesn't know what to think. She liked the couple and feels bad. Darren, the husband, is overcome with grief and worry. Charlene is curious and wants to help. With the aide of her own resident ghost, she starts to ask questions.
This was fun and entertaining. I had a hard time getting into the story. Partly my fault. They characters are quirky and the plot keeps you guessing. The writing style is easy-to-read. The end was a bit of a surprise.
I really enjoyed this cozy mystery set in Salem with ghosts and old movies and poison. I really like Charlene as the sleuth and her helpful ghost, Jack. I liked the twists and turns that kept me from guessing the perpetrator until the very ending. I received a copy of the book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
What a fun read with a eoic twist that I did not see coming , I enjoy these charcters and storys , this one brought my love for old scary movies , the theater Darren opened sounds fun , to bad there was a murder thatputs everyone in the spotlight . This series is fun and I can't wait to see more .
Mrs. Morris and the Wolfman is the seventh book in the Salem B&B series by Traci Wilton. I love this series and was excited to get back to Charlene and Salem. THe mystery centers around the new movie theatre in town and the tragic death of the owner's wife. The owner and victim's husband is the prime suspect, but Charlene and her friend Avery think otherwise. They work together to discover the truth. Jack the B&B's resident ghost helps Charlene with her investigation as usual. There is a great unexpected twist to the plot and it was a fun and entertaining read.
This was not my favorite of the series. I'm not sure where the disconnect was but I found this to be a struggle to get through. The dialogue was awkward in places, particularly when Avery or her friend are speaking, and I can't remember the last time since the 90s I've heard sex referred to as "the wild thing"; a lot of the dialogue seemed forced and unnatural. The Jack thing is still a little disturbing, although the romantic leanings have diminished but I don't feel any chemistry between Charlene and Sam. Hoping this was just a one-off and the next one will work better for me.
Traci Wilton continues her Salem B&B mysteries in Mrs. Morris and the Wolfman. Spooky Salem, Massachusetts has a haunted classic theater which Darren, a millionaire, is trying to survive with a showing of Lou Chaney's The Wolfman. However, his wife chokes on the popcorn and dies. The poisoned popcorn was seasoned with Darren's particular seasoned salts. Was the theater haunted since 6 people had fallen to their deaths in it under former management. Ghostly detective Jack is helping Charlene solve the crime as several of her close friends are caught up in the tragedy. Suspects abound. Spooky halloween story.
Princess Fuzzypants here: I have enjoyed the relationship between Charlene and her ghost Jack. Too bad he is dead because they would make the ideal couple and have a deep connection. She must make do with the very much alive detective Sam. While he tries to discourage her from investigating murders, when Elise is poisoned right in front of her, she is once more on the hunt for a killer. And she is going to have quite a few really viable suspects including her husband whom Charlene believes is innocent. There might be evil ghosts in the theatre that Elise and her husband have refurbished. This is, of course, Salem so anything is possible.
There are some definitely off=beat characters but it is the group of regulars who help Charlene run her B&B who truly make the series for me. I love the interactions and the way they have grown into a family. When I read about the welcome her guests receive, it makes me want to book a room. Alas, I shall have to be satisfied with reading about it. Five purrs and two paws up.
A great, intriguing mystery. I felt a connection to the characters who played old monster movies at the new theater. Their idea was great including popcorn with specialty salts and fresh baked pretzels. But death and spooky things put a halt to their plans. Charlene and her ghost Jack make a good team. Officer Sam cares for Charlene and gets frustrated with her trying to find answers to the murder. This book deals with bullies, mental health and genetic abnormalities. These things made the story real. The end was a big surprise.
This Salem B and B series is always so much fun. The latest installment, Mrs. Morris and the Wolfman, does not disappoint. While reading these in order isn't necessarily necessary to understand what is happening, it does make them more enjoyable. I highly recommend checking out this cozy mystery series.
Mrs. Morris and the Wolfman is the seventh book in Traci Wilton’s Salem B&B Mystery series. (Traci Wilton is the pen name for the collaboration of seasoned authors Traci Hall and Patrice Wilton.) Charlene Morris is a young widow who has established her bed and breakfast in Salem, Massachusetts, and has discovered that she is joined in her home by its late resident, Dr. Jack Strathmore. This book takes place in the summer following book six, Mrs. Morris and the Pot of Gold.
Darren Schultz, who immigrated from Germany after his seasoned salts made him a fortune, has relocated to Salem, where his wife Elise was born. Her sister Patty still resides in the family home and runs the family bakery, which she solely inherited from their parents.
Darren is using his funds to renovate the old Spellbound Movie Theater with plans to show old horror movies, his favorite, modern romances, and current releases in the three different theaters. He is working closely with Matthew Sinchuk, theater manager, and Franco Lourdes, film expert, to bring about a soft opening in advance of the grand opening. Charlene and her young helper Avery are attending this soft opening, as is Klara Maxwell, Darren’s sales rep. Also in attendance are Elise, Patty, and Seth Gamble who works the concession stand but, more importantly, is Avery’s boyfriend.
The soft opening is uneventful at the onset with viewing of the original Wolfman movie with personalized snack trays including the seasoned salt each person has chosen. It is at intermission that things go awry as Elise becomes ill, then dies in the presence of this group.
Now we have a mystery to solve! With detective Sam Holden warning Charlene away and Jack supporting her with research, a wonderfully woven mystery evolves. This is so well plotted, with many twists and unexpected events, that this seventh book will certainly not disappoint. This is another installment to a great book series. I very much enjoyed this book and do recommend it and this series.
Another deadly adventure for Salem B&B owner, Mrs. Morris! This one takes place in a newly reopened movie theatre. Off topic (but sorta on topic?) I am vegan and most movie theatre "butter" is actually coconut oil, so I can have it. However, I can't add salt because some theatres add powdered dairy creamer to the salt to prevent clumping. So in my own way, strange as it seems, I can relate to the murder. Believe me when I say skip the salt!
All of the usual characters and their antics are here. Very exciting story! I love all the interactions with her ghost, as usual.
"Mrs. Morris and the Wolfman" the 7th instalment in the Salem B&B Mystery series by Traci Wilton. This is my favourite one so far, I just loved it!
Charlene Morris is taking a night away from her Salem, Massachusetts, B&B--and its resident ghost--to enjoy a spooky double-bill, until murder upstages the evening . . .
What can I say, so much intrigue this go around and all centered around the reopening of Salems classic movie theatre that’s featuring Lon Chaney in The Wolfman. I love visiting Salem and Charlene’s B&B with its resident ghost Jack and her B&B family. I love all the characters Charlene, Jack, Minnie, Sam and Avery.
The mystery was interesting, well plotted, with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing till the very end. There was sub mysteries to figure out as well, especially surrounding Darren. I definitely was surprised by the ending and can’t wait for book 8 to see what happens next!!!
I highly recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.
I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A fun supernatural cozy mystery, this book is number 7 in a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. This series has a few cozies for multiple holidays/seasons, and this latest one is just in time for the Fall/Halloween season. Likeable characters, I love the resident ghost, and how the author incorporated the classic Wolfman movie into the plot Overall, a good choice for those who want something a little different for the upcoming Autumn season. I'll go back to read the rest since I thoroughly enjoyed some of the repeat characters to follow their development
Net Galley Feedback
Another deeply satisfying addition to this series.
Great characters and a well written whodunit.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
