This is one of those books I already cannot wait to re-read, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to absolutely anyone.

The plot is simple but the characters and their activities are uniformly delightful. This was a fun romance with serious stakes that kept me wildly entertained until the last page.

When Paige Hollister discovers she's the unwitting "other woman" to a married "Mr. Right," she decides to leave her teaching job and start anew in the town where her father, the local sheriff, resides. Abandoned by her father in her youth, Paige grapples with her place in his new family. Upon her arrival, Paige is faced with Whitney, a young girl left on Tanner Gillette's doorstep. Tanner, a golf champion determined to prove he's changed, is unsure about finding Whitney's mother. As they collaborate to care for Whitney, Tanner and Paige must address their growing feelings and navigate challenges that threaten their relationship.

Paige and Tanner, both carrying emotional scars but possessing kind hearts, find themselves challenged by the irresistible Whitney. The gradual unfolding of their vulnerabilities and the warmth of Chances Inlet, with its charming residents, lovable children, and pets, contribute to the story. Paige's newfound "adopted family" adds an extra layer of connection once she allows them into her life. As if that wasn't delightful enough, there are also cameo appearances from Summer and Luke, characters from the author's beloved book "Double Dog Dare." The narrative is skillfully written, effortlessly flowing, and so engaging that I couldn't resist reading it in one sitting.

This was the first book I've read in the series and I absolutely loved it! I fell in love with Chances Inlet and the characters that live there. I love a good small town romance so I was excited about reading this book. It reads like a standalone so now I can go back and read the other books of this series. I would definitely recommend this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Sun Home Productions for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.

This was a great summer beach read. Set in a small coastal town in NC this book is all about second chances and casting off preconceived notions.. Sweet, funny, light, and full of family. While this is the 4th book in a series I don’t think I missed any key plot points by not having read the first 3, however it did make me want to go back to read the whole series.

Solheim does not disappoint! The fourth book in the series still keeps things fresh. Paige and Tanner's story is a very satisfying read. Looking forward to the next installment.

Hi Y’all! Come in and grab a banana nut muffin and a cold drink while I tell you about this book I just read.
The title is It Had to be You by Tracy Solheim it is book 4 in the Chances Ainsley series. You don’t have to read in order I had read none of the other books and followed just fine But I have to say I’ll be adding the snd the Milwaukee Growlers series both to my TbR list.
The cover is simple but the title made me curious. Then I read the blurb and it really got my interest because the line small town chock full of nosy residents… one being the Sheriff that just happens to be her father… yep that did it!

Who’s my favorite main character ? I’m not usually easily won over by female leads but Paige had me from the beginning. She is very relatable. Tanner is just the opposite. He’s a real butt at first, cocky, even a bit underhanded but I love a good antihero and he is salvageable. Then there is the little girl abandoned on his clubhouse door Whitney you just gotta love. I think Paige and I could be good friends!

The story is set in a small town with lots of cool characters most step relatives to Paige. I love a good small town romance . I would have loved to visit Chances Inlet because the people are friendly and all the guys seem to be eye candy .
The story is a sports romance and forced proximity… oh so good!
What surprised me most about the book was how attention grabbing it was. There is so much going on.
Were there significant plot twists and turns? Oh yes. So many. Let’s see. Paige has a secret she’s keeping from everyone plus relationships issues. Tanner has a secret that Alden the dr knows, but he has to keep. If he does it makes him look bad to his family and Paige but could hurt others if revealed…Were there any plot twists that you loved? As every twist is revealed I wanted more and more! Can’t say I disliked anything.
What did I like best? I loved all the characters and relationships.
Was there something I didn’t like? Nope.
This story made me feel happy though there are some tear moments even a quick tear at the end. But it’s such a feel good romance! A must read to any romance lover.

I loved the ending. It was a HEA and a slight hint another character might get a story. I sure hope so!
How hot was the book? It’s a slow burn at first then gets a little spicy. I’d say a good 3.
If you like summer flings, small town romance, cute kids, Sports romance, Golf, forced proximity, twins, a spicy romance with a happy ending you will love

This is the first book that I've read by Tracy Solheim and it won't be the last. A story about not judging someone by what you read or hear, taking down the walls around your heart and letting love in, when it's lest expected. Chances Inlet, .North Carolina is a small, charming town with fun, loving people. A place to heal and to find the family that you never had.

(warning: maybe some slight spoilers)

This is the first in this series that I’ve read so that may have something to do with it, but I really didn’t quite understand Paige’s bad feelings toward her dad. I get that he wasn’t there for her growing up, but I felt like I was missing something that would explain why she was so against getting to know him. Maybe it was explored more in his story. I also was a little lost on why she was so adamant about keeping quiet what was going on in her life. I get why she’d be a little embarrassed, but she seemed to take it a little far.

I did like her with Tanner though. I found them to be amusing & entertaining as they flirted and danced around their attraction. They were fun together and their obvious affection for Whitney endeared them even more.

Speaking of Tanner, he’s dealing with a lot. I felt so bad for him, with his childhood and then losing his brother. That’s a lot for anyone to handle but throw a surprise kid in the mix and it’s a good excuse to be a less than stand-up guy. Not our Tanner though. He’s there to support Whitney (and Paige) in any way he can and as all the details come out, he’s does the best he can for everyone involved, every step of the way.

Family drama mixes wonderfully with a little bit of a mystery, a small-town HEA romance, & meddling busy body family creating a delightful beach read. If the rest of Solheim’s books are like this one, I’ve got quite a few titles to add to my TBR pile!

I really like Paige and Tanners story. There were quite a few components to follow along with but they all worked to make a happy ending for all.

It Had to be You by Tracy Solheim
Chances Inlet #4

Grumpy golfer versus protective teacher meet and fall in love in a small town that is known for providing second chances.

What I liked:
* Paige: teacher, daughter, raised by mother, estranged from her father, dealing with personal and professional issues, giving, caring, intelligent, good friend, insightful, trust issues, perfect with and for Tanner
* Tanner: professional golfer at top of his game, twin died in the past two years, surprised by Whitney on his doorstep, wealthy parents, checkered professional life, has trust issues, deeper than he first seems, perfect with and for Paige
* Whitney: 4-year-old, selectively mute, abandoned with Tanner by her mother, outgoing, graceful, has nightmares, sees Paige as a safe harbor, adds a lot to the story
* Sheriff Hollister: Paige’s father, married to Patricia McAlister, wants to get to know Paige better, ex-military, a man I’d want in my corner
* The McAlister family: previous three books starred various family members finding their HEA – did not read those stories but if I had, would have known the characters mentioned better, probably. Would love to join a family like theirs!
* Summer: Paige’s friend from Chicago, supportive, caring, kind
* Lou and Denise: owners of the children’s bookstore, committed loving couple
* That this was a story that drew me in, made me care, had characters I liked, and made me feel a part of the community – a community I would love to live in
* Wondering if Hayden and Elle will be up next in the series

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to
* Thinking about how easily a reputation can be ruined

Thank you to NetGalley and Sun Home Productions for the ARC – This is my honest review.

5 Stars

It Had To Be You is the 4th book in the Chances Inlet series by Tracy Solheim. This was the first book I've read in the series and I absolutely loved it! I fell in love with Chances Inlet and the characters that live there. It Had To Be You is such a special book that it will have you wanting to find a place like Chances Inlet. Paige Hollister was dating a man who lied to her for months and it turned out he was married with children. Paige was employed at a private school at the time and they found out she was the "other" woman. Because of a morals clause in her contract, they fired her! Paige was heartbroken as she'd always wanted to be a teacher and loved her job! It was all so unfair!! She had no idea what a loser Jon was!

As Paige has some time off earlier than expected, she decides to head to Myrtle Beach where she can stay at a friend's condo while they're out of town. Paige believes the beach will fix her. As she's driving to Myrtle Beach her car breaks down in a town called Chances Inlet. Paige is in a panic because this is the last place she wants to be! Her father who she barely knows lives here with his new family! He's also the sheriff in town and everyone knows him. A woman comes over to Paige and tells her she can call the local mechanic to tow and fix her car if she'd like. Paige says no as she has AAA and is low on money to pay the mechanic. Things aren't going as planned for Paige.

Tanner Gillette is the number one golfer on tour, but his life got turned upside down when a woman dropped a young girl on his doorstep. She had a birth certificate with her that had Tanner's name on it as the father! Tanner has a reputation as a bit of a playboy, but he has no idea who this woman is. She left and said she'd be back when she was better! The girl's name is Whitney and she hasn't spoken since being dropped on his doorstep. Tanner can't believe what is happening in his life and develops a bad case of the yips. Every time he tries to make a putt, his hands shake, and he can't do it! He has to find a way to relieve the stress he's feeling or his career might be over!

Paige finds Whitney by herself crying in the park. Paige thinks she's lost and asks the girl if she is? The girl nods yes. Paige comforts the girl and tells her they'll find her mother. Paige decides to take her to get ice cream, but ends up at the sheriff's station instead. Paige runs into her Dad there and he is so happy to see her. He thinks she came to visit him. As Paige is telling a deputy about finding Whitney in the park, Tanner and his caddy come in to report her missing. They are relieved when Whitney is sitting there unharmed. Tanner had left her with his caddy while he got a haircut. The caddy lost track of her and Whitney ended up in the park crying because she misses her mom. As Tanner goes to Whitney, she runs to Paige and hugs her leg.

Tanner notices that Whitney really likes Paige and since she's in town for a week waiting on her car to be fixed, he offers her a job as a nanny. Paige likes Whitney and needs the money to pay for her car, so she takes the job. She has no idea that Tanner is a famous golfer. Tanner has a huge home and tells Paige there's plenty of space for her to stay there. They arrange for Paige to move in the next day. Tanner explains to Paige that Whitney hasn't spoken in the time she's been with him. Paige doesn't realize how Whitney came to live with Tanner, but she will. Paige has been staying at her stepmother's inn and she's excited to get out of there so she won't run into her Dad and his new family so often.

There is a definite spark between Tanner and Paige. Every time they touch each other in passing it's like electricity lights them up. They both feel it, but try to ignore it, and keep things professional. Tanner has to get rid of the yips and he's hoping a nanny will take some stress away so he can focus more on his golf. Paige has huge trust issues from her relationship with Jon that was nothing but lies and because she grew up without her father who wanted nothing to do with her or so she thinks. Will Tanner and Paige find a way to trust each other and give in to the chemistry they have? Will Whitney find her voice and talk again? Will Whitney's mom come back for her? Where is Whitney's mom and what led her to leave her? Will Paige find a way to have a relationship with her father and his new family?

It Had to Be You is a book that will make you feel every emotion as you read. Everyone will be able to relate to the storyline and find something that moves them. I loved this book and look forward to reading more from Tracy Solheim. I rate the book 5 stars and give it my highest recommendation. The book is now available to purchase so what are you waiting for? Let the town of Chances Inlet take you away for awhile! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Sun Home Productions for an advanced copy in exchange for a fair review. #ItHadtoBeYou

When Paige Hollister finds herself labelled ‘the other woman’, having been fooled by her “Mr. Right” who was married, she decides to leave her teaching job and begin again in the town where her father, the local sheriff lives. Having left Paige and her mother when she was young, Paige is uncertain where she fits in with his new family. Upon arriving in town, Paige finds herself confronted with the young girl, Whitney, left on Tanner Gillette’s doorstep. On top of the golf world, Tanner is determined to show everyone that he has turned his life around. However, with the arrival of Whitney, he is uncertain of whether he can find her mother. As Tanner and Paige work together to care for Whitney, they must soon confront their feelings for each other and whether they can overcome factors set to undermine their relationship.
Not only are the characters of Tanner and Paige well developed, but many of the secondary characters gave great depth to this romance. It was so enjoyable to see how their romance progressed as the story behind their pasts is revealed. An enjoyable read.

Teacher Paige is fired for immorality after she discovers her boyfriend is married. She escapes to a small beach town, where she meets pro golfer Tanner. His life has been turned upside-down by a mysterious woman who sent her young daughter to him, claiming he's the father. When he hires Paige as his nanny, a spark of attraction ignites. Can she learn to trust her heart again?

I loved everything about this book. It pulled me in from the beginning. The conflict is realistic, the characters are relatable, and the setting feels like home.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Paige and Tanner get their chance. I didn’t get her contempt for her father. Tanner’s little girl stole the show. There were a lot of secondary characters, and since this was my first book by this author, it was harder to keep track of them.

Paige and Tanner get their chance at love!

Paige Hollister had some serious trust issues with guys after dating the uncle of one of her students and finding out that he was married and being fired from her teaching job. Paige had planned a break at the beach while she figured out what to do next but her plans changed when her car broke down in Chances Inlet, North Carolina where her dad was the sheriff.

Golfer Tanner Gillette was staying in Chances Inlet while he rehabbed his golf game but being left a daughter Whitney that he never knew about would change his entire life especially when he needs a nanny. Maybe Paige will help while she’s visiting Chances Inlet?

If you haven’t read any of Tracy Solheim’s books you need to start now because It Had to Be You has characters from her Out of Bounds Series, Chances Inlet Series and Milwaukee Growlers Football Series and the only decision is where to start reading!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Tracy Solheim never disappoints! Her latest novel It Had to Be You centers around, Paige, who finds herself running from romantic disaster and, Tanner, who is trying to wrap his brain around the curveball life just handed him! The serendipitous meeting of these two just may be exactly what they both need…if they can get out of their own way! The storyline had me glued to my kindle and the character development was fantastic. When I started It Had to Be You I didn’t realize it was the 4th installment in the Chances Inlet series, I had no problem jumping right in! In saying that, I am most definitely going to be reading the previous three installments because honestly, I completely on the hook!! I highly recommend this gem, another fanatic 5 star romance from Tracy Solheim!

This is part of a series and I found it very confusing who all the characters were in the extended family at the heart of the series. I just had to glide over any mention of the other characters and just focus on the story of Paige, who is escaping a humiliating situation at her prior job, and Tanner, a golf pro with the yips since his twin brother died. Paige just happens to end up in her estranged father’s little town that is basically the ideal romance novel small town. She ends up being a nanny for the little girl who has been left on Tanner’s doorstep.

There are the typical resentment-to-attraction-love affair moments that you know are going to happen. Add in the trauma that the little girl has, apparently, experienced after being abandoned by her mother with a strange man. But Paige wins her over and then wins over Tanner. It’s all rather predictable.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
