What an amazing, heartwarming and hilarious contemporary romance that takes place behind the scenes of a reality tv show that is similar to The Bachelorette with a twist of revenge. It is a second chance romance filled with angst, tension, humor, chemistry and spice. After reading the synopsis, I knew I had to read this book! I mean who doesn't love a story about the lead star of the show who is still in love with her ex-boyfriend and he happens to be the producer of the show!?! Bachelor Nation this story is for you!! I absolutely loved this book so much!!
I can’t believe The Charm Offensive wasn’t used as a comp for this. The books are similar but different enough that it didn’t feel like I was reading the exact same book. I really enjoyed this! It was just what I needed after reading several not so great books in a row.
The chemistry between Emily and Jake was very believable. The beginning conflict made sense and I was so happy when the third act conflict was resolved the way it was.
The twin bond between Emily and Sam was amazing and I’m so glad they had each other. I’m very excited to read about Sam and Cooper when the next book releases!
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you, Netgalley and Kay Marie, for an ARC of this book.
This book is like the Bachelor just in book format. I haven't watched the bachelor, so I don't know how accurate it is. But it was highly entertaining.
This book has dual pov, second chance romance, traveling, secret meetings, and much more.
Seven years ago, Emily's boyfriend walked away from her and never looked back. Today, Emily is single, and that's something her mother wants to do something about. So her mother has her scheming ways to get her on to their favorite dating show, "The love rematch." The problem? Her ex is a producer on that same show. They both have their secrets, their hurt, all the history between them, and they are not on good terms. Is this how Emily can get her revenge?
This was a cute romantic read. It's a little different because it's not only focused on the main characters' love story but a potential love story on the TV show. There are flashbacks that I'm not always a fan of, but I think it was done well in this book. The focus was maybe a little too much on the show and not the characters' story, but i also get why it was like that. All in all, it was a fun, cute romance read that I recommend to all the romance lovers out there.
A little note at the end. There is some talk of potential infertility.
I enjoyed this book so much more than I thought I would and read it in one sitting!
I adore reality tv and well-written romances with this basis; however, these well-written romances are sadly not easy to come by. I was a touch sceptical before reading and I am so glad I was wrong!
Emily’s inadvertent journey to finding love again (thanks to her mother advertising her single status to the nation) was an entertaining and lovely escape. Following her story meeting 30 men in the time pressurised environment of reality tv, as well as the shock of encountering her former boyfriend Jake (now a producer) kept me hooked throughout. Emily works to realise her feelings about the host of new men at her fingertips and reassesses her past relationship with Jake and how it has stirred up some complicated truths and revelations for them both.
I loved Jake’s perspective in this so readers can fully understand his thoughts and actions, as well as flashbacks that revealed their past dynamic and situation.
My first book by this author and I hope to read many more in the future! Will definitely be recommending this to friends.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Kay Marie’s “The Love Rematch” is a sizzling, lighthearted take on second-chance childhood love.
Emily and Jake are easy to root for, and the added element of their reality TV show setting, which only ramps up the odds betting against their reunion, only adds to the delicious stakes of this plot. While “The Love Rematch” is not a groundbreaking read, which is clear from a few tired tropes featured throughout the text, it does succeed at delivering a satisfying romcom story.
At its best, “The Love Rematch” is a quick, fun summer romp that’s sure to appeal to many.
*Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for a review.*
I absolutely love reality tv, so I was very excited to read this story. Following the two perspectives of Emily and Jake was perfect. I loved reading their journeys and seeing how they were connected. You could feel the love off the page of these two characters. From start to finish I was invested into the plot and found myself laughing, crying and even getting upset at some parts. (The perfect combination for a reader). I really enjoyed Emily’s sister Sam. She was hilarious and I loved in the short time she was in it seeing her bond with her sister. I can’t wait to read the next book with Sam as the protagonist. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy. I will definitely be picking this up for my bookshelf come October . I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
This was such a heartwarming and hilarious romance that takes place behind the scenes of reality TV show with a little bit of revenge.
I can't imagine seeing my mom on the news begging me to go on a reality TV show. That's what happened with Emily. The twist in this is that she ended up in the show, but her childhood love (he broke her heart 7 years ago) is the producer!!!! It was so good to see to get her revenge. She dated 30 men in front of her ex!!! I can already see you on the edge of your seat 😉
Emily's sister is ICONOC her remarks were so amazing 👏 and had me laughing out loud.
All in all, it was an AMAZING read! If you want a hilarious book with a second chance and a dating show, then I recommend this to you!

This was a cute book and I enjoyed the dialogue. I think this is a perfect summer read given that it is quick and easy to get through. I'll probably pick up a physical copy when it comes out.
I loved this book! There isn’t much I can criticize the book for. It had me from the very start until the end.
I love the second chance romance, and how they both couldn’t really let go of the past and of each other.
I love the twists and turns towards the end it had me gripped!
Even at very start of this book I was laughing my head off. It was so smoothly written though out it didn’t feel rushed at all!
I can actually can’t wait to buy the paper copy because I can see my self reading this again
Thank you NetGalley and Kay Marie for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review.
RIGHT! Imagine this, you're single, living your best life when you turn on the tv one day to find out that your mother is on national television, advertising that you need a man in your life. She's gunning for you to become the next star of a Bachelorette-type show, called 'the Love Match'. Somehow, her stunt lands you on the show! Here's the kicker: your ex-boyfriend is the producer of the show. That's the way the story begins for our protaginst Emily Peters and her ex-boyfriend Jake. Things ended badly between them but now Emily can get her revenge by dating thirty different guys in front of him.
A really fun, second chance romance, I highly recommend for fans of Beth O'Leary! I have never watched the Bachelorette but I would hoenstly love a real version of the Love Match! I loved the angst between Emily and Jake and all the secret pining they did for one another. I especially love how their history was woven into the present day story, I'm already excited for how the author is going to manage the events of the second book in the series!
The Love Rematch comes out on 16th October 2023 so set your alarms! Kay Marie is defintely an author to watch out for!
This was a nice and quick read. I just didn't find the characters very memorable. I did enjoy the authors writing style so I will be sure to check out any future work but this book kind of fell "mid" to me at best.
Emily Peters is the new lead of the Love Match after her mom ends up on national television telling everyone “Emily Ann Needs a man!” Emily is currently working at her mothers flower show and working on her startup jewelry business at night and she still can not get over her high school ex who left her without a word. When she gets on set, she sees that ex, Jake, for the first time since he left…and he is a producer on the show. Thankfully he will be handling the guys who want to date her, but she still has to be around him and he keeps make excuses to do nice things for her. They struggle to deny their attraction to one another and Jake is under the impression that no one knows he was a the guy who broke her heart 7 years ago. Will he be able to find her a fiancé?
I loved this story so much!!! The twist at the end and finding out more of Emily’s personal life and history made it so much more relatable than just a bachelorette based book. Loved the multiple POV’s and I enjoyed seeing Jake move forward from the trauma he experienced as a child. The dates on the Love Match were basically exact dates from the bachelor franchise, all the way down to the overnights. I loved the scene that Emily and Cooper, one of her final men, made and how it affected Jake. Normally, second chance romances take too much time to explain the past, but this one focused more on the current time with small flashbacks. When Sam, Emily’s twin, came in, I was hoping for a twin swap and I loved her role in the ending. I can not wait for the second book!!
I did not finish this one. In fairness, I can't stand reality television and have never seen an episode of the Bachelor or any other matchmaking style show. The characters in this book fell flat for me and I did not enjoy the flashback scenes.
This was so so soooo cute! The silly, cute banter and just the humor of it all. This was perfect as a quick summer read, but will for sure be a great cozy, fall read. Loved it, get it!
A huge thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Love Rematch is a second chance romance that is definitely worth the read. I fell in love with the characters right from the start and quite enjoyed reading the dual points of view. The author handled the changes in POV quite well and made sure to give us the right amount of background and insight into the characters as the story developed.
The chemistry between the two main characters was indeed undeniable from the get go and I really enjoyed reading their story, how they grew from who they were to reach who they are today. Throw in a reality TV show and well planned revenge on Emily's end and we are in for a fun read!
This book covers many many tropes and brings them together quite well making sure to keep the reader entertained until the very end. This is definitely a rematch with a twist and hopefully a change in the way things progress when compared to the first time. I truly enjoyed this read and recommend it to all fans of a good romance novel.
✨The Love Rematch✨

'I don't want to spend another day of my life without you in it. Be with me. Now. Forever.'
I absolutely loved this book, it's such a heartwarming and heart wrenching story and I fell in love with all of the characters💕🏩💞
The writing was superb, its easy to read and it maintains a good pace throughout the whole book. I love the cover on this book too!
Emily (FMC) is a complex character with lots of different hardships and challenges she's faced throughout her life. After being left by the love of life 7 years ago, she finds it hard to trust others and ultimately hasn't been able to let go of her ex-boyfriend. One morning, she wakes up to her mum on national television saying she is very much single and shes looking for her daughter to find a parter #EmilyAnnneedsaman 📺☎️
Jake (MMC) is a television producer who can't get over his ex-girlfriend who he left in the middle of the night. He is also a complex character and he lives with many regrets and fear of becoming like his father. He has recently been promoted to being a producer on the show The Love Match🎥🎬
During the book, Emily is picked to be the leading lady on a dating show (similar to The Bachelorette) and Jake is a producer on the show. Once they are both on set, Jake pretends not to know Emily and introduces himself to her, making her very angry and frustrated by the situation. Similar to the bachelorette, Emily 'dates' 30 men and goes on extravagant dates and tries to make Jake jealous during the process- which she succeeds with❤️🌹
Its a second chance romance, its slow burn, has lots of angst, miscommunication, guilt, regret and filled with longing for each other.
I loved the memories from their relationship as teenagers and it really helped to form how much love they had/have for each other💞
It has:
🔥Slow burn romance
❌Close proximity
🎥Retelling of the bachelorette with a twist
🏩Second chance romance
🌹Duel pov
✈️Multiple holiday destinations
TW: Cancer and Domestic Abuse
Overall, I absolutely loved this book and I can't wait for Sam's and Cooper's book!💖🌺🌷
Publication date: 16th October 2033
If you are or were ever a fan of the bachelor/bachelorette or reality tv in general (and you understand it isn't real), you will not be able to put this book down. Throw in a dual POV AND second chance romance, and it was as if this book was made for me.
This is one of the few books where miscommunication was done well and it made sense. I loved the way that the author gave us flashbacks to Emily and Jake's time together through current events that made them think back on the moments they spent together.
I loved Emily's character and the glimpses I got of her twin sister has me so excited for the next book in this series. Jake ended up having so much more depth to him than I feel like we normally get to see in a character like his, and his conflict of whether or not he deserves Emily was done so well it made me root for both of them for most of the book.
Overall, I adore this book and will definitely be adding it to my shelf to read when I need something that makes me smile.
“I love you. Real answer.”
This story was so fun, fast paced, and full of sweet, sexy romantic tension. It put me through an emotional ringer!
Despite being given the opportunity to date 30 men on a reality TV show and find her perfect match, Emily’s can’t keep her mind off the show’s producer - Jake - who also happens to be the guy who broke her heart when they were teenagers.
It was evident from the start how much they loved each other, so I was so intrigued to find out how it all went so wrong. I loved how we got flashes of their memories that helped put the pieces together.
A running theme of this book was ‘am I enough?’ This played into Jake’s actions - sometimes in frustrating ways - but it was clear that they had trauma and demons they needed to work through. So hearing them say to each other that they were “Everything. F*cking. Thing.” with such conviction made my heart soar!
Emily and Jake’s path to forgiveness and growth made a beautiful read, resulting in perfect clarity that there could never be anyone else 🥰
PS - I loved how Kay Marie poked fun at the world of reality TV dating! If you’d like to live in blissful ignorance of the producing of a reality TV show while you binge The Bachelor, maybe this isn’t for you 😂😜

If you’ve ever watched a morning news show with fans lined up with large posters and waving at the cameras then you will understand the immediate embarrassment Emily feels when she wakes up to the visual of her mom holding a sign on the morning news telling America that her daughter needs a man.
As Jake tries to make his way through his debriefing meeting the next season of The Love Match he is slammed with the information that his ex from 7 years ago is being pushed to the front of the line to be matched with 30 eligibility bachelors.
He feels sick. She feels embarrassed.
How does all this end? Exactly as it should. If you enjoy complicated HEA where there is miscommunication, forced proximity, meant to be together but not allowed to vibes then this is a great book for you to pick up.

This was an ARC with Netgalley. My thoughts and opinions above are my own.
"He'll never be her hero. But that doesn't mean he has to stay her villain."
I absolutely loved this book, I read in just about one sitting. While I was going to sleep due to fibro pain.
If you love second chance romance, reality tv show settings- think Bachelorette, slow burn but doesn't feel like one and finally the want to bang to characters heads together than this is for you.
Emily wakes up one morning to her mum appearing on national morning tv, broadcasting that Emily is single and her mum is trying to help her find love. Her mum hopes she gets selected to go on the new series of the reality tv show- The love match. When Emily is chosen, she finds out her ex-boyfriend Jake, is a producer on the show. Where he has to watch Emily get to know and date 30 men, who she then has to choose who goes through until there is only a handful left and Emily hopefully will find someone to fall in love with. But it turns out Jake is still in love with Emily and hasn't been able to move on- What could possibly go wrong?
I loved this book. I enjoyed that you get both Emily and Jake p.o.v- which added so much to the story. You get flash backs to their previous relationship. You get the knowing looks they give each other, the watching when the other is watching. You get their history weaved into their present lives and you get to watch as their love is rebuilt.
I think 'The love rematch' is one of my favourite romance books I have read this year so far.
