This is such a great thriller/mystery, and when and where accessible, I highly recommend the audiobook. Karissa Vacker narrates, and IYKYK; she's excellent and adds to an already fantastic story and m.c.!
Vivvy, the m.c., is totally riveting. In addition to possessing psychic powers, a trait she has apparently inherited from her quirky (and - in the present day - deceased) mother, she is also an astrophysicist. This is the perfect matchup. Folks who are driven by the rational will appreciate Vivvy's love for the scientific, as well as her extraordinary talent in this area, especially considering her young age and related accomplishments. Those who are a little more open to possibilities (i.e., can handle a book in which a character has psychic abilities and is not represented as a fraud) will also appreciate the connections between Vivvy's various senses and perspectives of the world.
In addition to the great setup with Vivvy's character, Vivvy's story - and those of the two girls she begins seeking - are all fascinating. Vivvy's mother's general personality, her presentation of motherly characteristics, and her relationship to psychic abilities all (of course) shape both Vivvy and her sister, Bridg. Additionally, some of Vivvy's other formative encounters - like saving the life of the young man who ultimately becomes her brother-in-law - mold her relationships both personally and professionally.
While this piece (obviously) is quite driven by the intriguing main character, the mystery/thriller elements themselves are also incredibly well drawn. There are many characters that exist in grey areas, and readers (and Vivvy) are often searching for clues about exactly how much these folks can be trusted and in what contexts. These details keep readers engaged from cover to cover.
I enjoyed this read so much and am thrilled to discover that I have a whole back catalogue of this author's works to enjoy. I'll be digging into those this summer and also eagerly awaiting whatever Heaberlin produces next!
I can’t think of a book quite like NIGHT WILL FIND YOU, and I mean that in the best way.
Astrophysicist Vivvy Bouchet saved a boy’s life because of her psychic inclinations when she was ten years old. She is summoned by the man she saved–now a Fort Worth police officer–to help solve a high profile cold case of a missing young girl who disappeared from her kitchen without a trace.
This psychological thriller was a slow burn but uniquely layered with multiple mysteries. The juxtaposition of Vivvy’s firm belief in the fundamental principles of science with her unexplainable physic inclinations was fascinating.
I love the direction the mystery took as well as the social commentary on conspiracy theories, our society’s obsession with true crime, and our collective discomfort with things that cannot be explained.
Karissa Vacker is my go-to girl for thriller audiobooks and her narration didn’t let me down here.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan audio for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
Such an interesting set-up with a lot of tension over whether psychic abilities are real . . . and then a really silly plot twist.
Review copy provided by publisher.
Vivvy Bouchet is an astrophysicist who has come home for a few weeks due to her mother’s illness and then funeral. When she was a little girl, her prediction saved a little boy’s life. That little boy is now a Fort Worth cop and he’s begging Vivvy to help him solve a high profile cold case. She doesn’t like to talk about her psychic abilities, but when a podcaster named Bubba Guns(it’s Texas, y’all) catches wind she’s working with the cops he starts spewing conspiracy theories to his listeners he puts Vivvy and the people she loves in danger. The exploration of public interest and willingness to believe in conspiracy theories is fascinating to me and shows how lies and bad information are so very dangerous. The author does a great job of showing how a small lie can burn everything to the ground.
According to the publisher Night Will Find You is being developed by Fox as a TV series. After reading the book, I can certainly see that it would be a compelling story and cast of characters for television. Thank you to @netgalley @juliaheaberlin @macmillan.audio for an advanced audio copy. @karissavacker does a wonderful performance voicing the characters on the audiobook.

I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.
First of all, I love this cover😍it’s gorgeous!
I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Karissa Vacker does an excellent job with the narration. The main character, Vivvy Bouchet, is an astrophysicist who is devoted to science, but she is also a clairvoyant who helps the police with cold cases. This contrast between science and things that can’t be explained is a main theme that runs through out the different storylines. It brought a different perspective to the crime thriller genre that I have not read before.
Thank you @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for allowing me to listen to this audiobook ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.
OOOOOOF, what a freaking WILD ROLLERCOASTER RIDE. I am so thankful to Macmillan Audio, Flatiron Books, Julia Heaberlin, and NetGalley for granting me advanced digital, physical, and audiobook access to this thrilling tale about an underappreciated psychic and her ability to solve cold cases. Night Will Find You is set to hit shelves on June 20, 2023 and I can’t wait for more of my thriller-loving babes to get ahold of it.
Vivvy Bouchet is a psychic, taking after her law enforcement affiliated mother who has recently passed away, letting her and her sister to fend for themselves after their darkened past comes back to haunt her in a years-old missing person’s case.
Many are skeptical about her gift of understanding what’s taking place past the veil and on the lighter side of life, but Vivvy has a hunch, and she’s almost never wrong. Her brother-in-law, whom she saved in her youth, from being run down by a car, consistently vouches for her intellectual presence, but it’s up to them alone to ward off the conservative, fake-news reporters and demeaning cops of the world, so she can actually help them with the missing person’s case of Lizzie Solomon, while her mother rots in a jail cell, and her town wants justice.
This book hosts several twists and turns that will keep you guessing and gasping all the while, until you figure out the true motive behind the case.
When they were children, Vivvy made a prediction that saved Mike’s life. Now an astrophysicist, Vivvy is contacted by Mike, now a cop, because he wants her o use her psychic abilities to help solve a cold case. As a scientist, Vivvy has serious doubts about her” psychic gift” and shies away from Mike’s request. When a podcaster with the dreadful moniker of Bubba Guns, calls her out and begins to spread misinformation about her, and the case, Vivvy has to ask herself why. Does she really have the ability to tell the future? Heaberlin writes some of the best literate thriller fiction in the genre, this is a slow burn that will stay with readers long after the last page
