I recently finished listening to Earth Called, the final book in the Tales of a New World series, and I absolutely loved it! The book was filled with magic and mythology and had phenomenal world-building. The plot was action-packed, which made it truly exciting to read. I was pleased to see how the main characters developed throughout the story and found their path. The side characters, both old and new, were well-written and brought so much to the story. It was a fantastic way to end the series, and it was both captivating and fulfilling. The author, P.C. Cast, did an excellent job tying everything together impressively. The audiobook version, narrated by Catlin Davies, brought the story to life, making it even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this series if you're a fan of books with animals and a touch of mythical fantasy.
Earth Called is the fourth book in the Tales of a New World series and is a continuation of the events that took place in the previous book, Wind Rider. Although it is advisable to read the previous books in the series, this book can also be appreciated as a standalone novel. The author masterfully brings together all the elements, tribes, animals, and powers from the previous books into a satisfying and glorious ending.
While the pace of the book is generally good, some parts of it feel rushed, especially when the buildup was a slow climb. Readers may notice that bond pairings and couplings happened quickly in this book compared to the previous books. However, this series is all about life and love triumphing over death, prejudices, and hate. The author does an excellent job of conveying this message while keeping the readers engaged throughout the book.
One of the things that make Tales of a New World series stand out is the portrayal of matriarchal or female-led societies in fantasy worlds. The author, P.C. Cast, explores this idea with great depth and sensitivity. While some of Cast's other series can be abrupt in this area, I felt this world was more focused on female resilience, strength, power, and bonding. The different terrains explored in this world are a testament to the excellent world-building throughout the entire series. Readers will appreciate the strong magic system, which evolves effortlessly and adds to the richness of the world.
Overall, Earth Called is a great addition to the Tales of a New World series, and readers who enjoy fantasy novels with strong female characters and world-building would not want to miss this book.
Earth Called was the amazing cherry on top of a month long journey for me. After reading the rest of the series and absolutely loving them, I was so excited to jump into its conclusion. I love everything about this series there was never a point in any of the books were it seemed do die off or lose steam. The narration on this book was absolutely perfect!! The world building is beautifully done. Every setting is so well thought out and fun. The characters were fantastic, I loved the multiple povs. I felt the character development was done really well. The story line is so interesting. I loved the unique concepts that were visited and thoroughly enjoyed the animal companions. I felt this book was as a beautiful conclusion to what is now one of my favorite series.
Give me a balance of life and death-fantasy, world building, some side character love and the nostalgia of an author Iโve read for decades plus multiple books -what more do I need to say. I feel in love, and the ending was everything I wanted wrapped in a perfect bow. Iโm always going to be a fan of PC Cast!
We've been waiting with hardly repressed patience for the final installment since the last novel published. Earth Called picks up where Wind Rider left off. No worries if you haven't read it yet, there are no spoilers. I adore what Cast did with this book. She took all of the elements, tribes, animals and powers accumulating through the first three and brought it together in a glorious conclusion.
There are some parts that felt rushed, especially when the buildup was a well layered climb. The bond pairings and couplings felt a little more rapid fire in this book compared to the others too. However, this was such a feel good series that centers around life and love triumphing over death, prejudices and hate that I couldn't put the final book down.
I have always enjoyed the matriarchal or feminine led societys in these fiction fantasy worlds and Tales of a New World is just as evolved in that idea. Some of Cast's series can be a bit abrupt in this arena but I felt this world was more focused on female resilience, strength, power and bonding and flowed smoother. The terrains that are covered in this world are an ode to the excellent world building through the entire series and the magic system holds strong and effortlessly evolves. Some of my favorite parts.
I alternated between the audiobook and the physical. I absolutely love that Macmillan Audio had Caitlin Davies finish out the audio series. She's carried us through each book and is a voice of character consistency. I also love her spiritual tone. I know, that sounds weird but if you know the elemental context of these books, you'd totally nod in approval too.
Thank you Macmillan Audio for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. Special shoutout to PC Cast for finishing out a wonderful book baby amidst other series in progress!
Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the advanced electronic audio review copy of this title. I have enjoyed many works by P.C. Cast in the past and this was no different. What a wonderful conclusion to the series.
I started reading the first book and really wasn't feeling it. The writting was all over the place and the world building nonexistant. I looked up some reviews and found that many people found the series to be racist and unreadable. So I decided to DNF and not continue with the series and on to this final book.
It took me a little bit to get into this book. However once I got into it I really enjoyed it. The characters are interesting. The plot is something I've never heard before. I cried in one spot. Very well written book and I recommend it. Interested to see if another book will follow this one.

I received an eARC for my honest opinion.
What would you do if you knew that your destiny was to be the one that changed everything?
WOW, like WOW. I really did not want this book to end, I loved everything about it, and it was so hard for me to finish because I wasnโt ready for these amazing people and their journey to end. However, like all great things it had to come to an end and seriously all I can say is WOW.
I loved so many things about this series and this book. First, I loved the plot and how it was played out throughout the four books. I really enjoyed that in each book it would pick up right where it left off in the last book, but you would get small side plots throughout the book that all interweaved together in the final book. I thought the author did an amazing job with the attention to detail to really paint a picture of all the landscapes and all the people that you will meet and of course all the characters that you have come to love and hate. I thought this book was well-developed, great attention to details, amazing plot and side plots, the characters were relatable and easy to connect with, the pace of the book was fast and slow, but it was all done just right that you did not mind the slower parts, and you can feel the completeness of the series.
The characters in this book showed the most development, I loved getting to see new characters and their inner battles to the older characters finally showing their true growth. I know Mari; she really got my tears rolling in this book. To see her character grow and the love that she felt for her goddess and her people was beautiful. With Nik it was finally amazing to see his growth complete the 180 from the beginning. I mean heck everyone had their growth completed in this book and it really felt that everyone finally would have the peace that they fought so hard for.
I was able to get the eARC and audio of this book and the narrator did a wonderful job. She was able to grab you when a dramatic scene happened, awed you when a loving moment, had your heart strings in her grip when an emotional scene happened. She really helped bring this book to life.
What I enjoyed about the book the most was: caring female protagonists, strong female characters as well as male ones, kindness to all, learning how to heal, dystopian setting, great characters. I highly recommend this author and this series to all.
I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martinโs Press & Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to review this book.
Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the advanced electronic audio review copy of this great book. I enjoyed the interesting, fast-moving plot, great characters, and a well-written story. A great read.
Having waited impatiently for this installment of the Tales of a New World Series, I have to say that I am not disappointed! While itโs been awhile since Iโve read the previous 3, I was far too excited to do a reread so I dove straight in and found myself confused. While I did catch up with plenty of book left, it did affect the enjoyability initially.
I feel this is likely the conclusion of the saga, and it was a solid one. I enjoyed returning to the lands of each companion world and diving back into this fantasy land. The villain is by far one of my favorites and the whole series is a great build to the end.
Definitely need to read the original 3 before this one, itโs not at all a standalone. I received the audiobook through NetGalley and while it did only have the one narrator, she did a great job with it.

I am one of the people that has been eagerly and/or hungrily waiting for this book. Cast is already an autobuy author for me but this series is particular is my absolute favorite. That all said I was very nervous about this book. I was scared there was no way it could live up to my hype. This book definitely did not disappoint! I read the whole thing in one sitting and this isn't exactly a short book! I definitely want to reread this whole series now that its complete!
