Lizzie just this minute out of rehab has been forced to join her mother (Claire), brother (Liam) and Claire’s brand new husband George, for a long weekend at George’s old, ramshackle family home in the middle of nowhere. Suffice to say nothing goes as planned! As there definitely wasn’t a party or indeed any sign of one happening then maybe this wasn’t really a great title for the book. A better title would be one featuring Weekend, or Break or Family. I liked some parts of this but not all as it was often slow and clunky. Bringing food out and exactly what it was, wasn’t particularly exciting. A bit, no quite a lot of suspension of belief too. The best bits were the first and last chapters when everything suddenly started happening. The premise was great but sadly didn’t quite live up to expectations.
This book was another whu-dun-it that loses its plot halfway through. The premise and the setting were good but the book falls downhill halfway through and never gets back.

A great thriller that hooked me from the start - I could not put it down. Great book!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance copy of The Party by Triona Walsh in exchange for my honest review and opinion. WOW! This is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat guessing what was going to happen next until the very last page. I did not see the ending in this one coming at all! I highly recommend this book if you are looking for an action packed book! So good.

Lizzie has just been picked up from a 6 month stint in rehab by her mum Claire and brother Liam. Claire has just remarried and they are off to spend the weekend with her new husband, George and his daughter Freya (and surprise-her new husband Hudson). During the wedding dinner that night Lizzie’s father turns up - he was presumed dead years before and faked his own death. When he declares he wants his family back, everyone is shocked. When they find him dead the next morning, everyone is a suspect.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
I really enjoyed this book. So many twists & turns making it hard to put down! Just the kind of story I like!
This is a fairly solid whodunnit that works well and wraps up with a satisfying ending. I found it to be a slow burner and it took me a while to get into it. It really takes off about half way in, so keep going!
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this arc. This story was a wild ride, very interesting storyline. It was an awesome read.
This was such a great, suspenseful thriller! I couldn't put this book down and I would love to read more by this author. You'll never guess the twist at the end!
A page-turner until the end. It brings together a few different plot lines and tropes from across the mystery genre, but in a way that keeps you on your toes throughout.
The synopsis grabbed me straight away. This book seemed to drag on for me. It was very unrealistic and a bit much for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

This is told from Lizzie’s point of view. It’s a bit of a slow burner, but that works really well as there are 6 suspects and it allows things to be teased out. The last chunk after ‘whodunnit’ is revealed is rapid. And in fact it ends quite abruptly. I liked how there was no loose ends and we found out all the reasons for everything. Lots of unexpected twists too.
This is my second Triona Walsh book, and she doesn't disappoint. I have nothing but nice things to say about this book. Much Like The Snowstorm, this was full of surprises and action that takes you in right from the start. Lies, deception, fake marriages, and
Fresh from rehab, Lizzie is surprised to find out that her mother has married a widower. What was supposed to be a restful weekend getaway to get to know her new stepfather and his family quickly gets out of hand when Lizzie finds out that her mother isn't really married to George and that she is working with the "hired cook" to scam a scammer.
However. their plans go awry when Lizzie's supposed-to-be deceased father, Declan, arrives at the wedding party. He was supposed to have drowned and pulled by the current years ago, leaving the family in debt and turmoil. Where has he been all this time? What does he want? Morning comes and finds Declan dead with his head bashed in. Who is the suspect, and is he really dead this time?
this book will keep you guessing. Just the way I like it.

In this book we meet several characters and each one of them has a certain story to tell. Lizzie has just been released from rehab after six months of clean time. She almost killed her brother by being behind the wheel and driving under the influence. Her issues all started the day her father died. It was ruled a suicide and that shattered her world. Her mother Claire has since moved on and is about to remarry. Lizzie hopes that she can make things right with her family and that now includes a stepdad. However, this romance with her mother happened very fast. In fact it all came to fruition while she was in rehab. The wedding is going to take place on her stepdad, George’s property. To throw in the mix, George has a daughter who also got married and everyone is meeting him for the first time as well during this wedding.
BUT……. Everything is about to change and throw this family upside down.
The wedding day is off to a great start. The bride is ready to say I do but someone is there that was not supposed to be. Someone that was supposed to be dead and buried. Claire’s Husband Declan has come to win his family back. He will stop at nothing to do so. Lizzie now sees her dad is not the man she thought he was. Can Claire find a way out of this or will Lizzie see the truth behind all of the lies? Add a murder to this and you also will wonder who is the murderer and will their be another victim?
I love this 'psychological
thriller and the author does an amazing job of bringing two families together. Throw in a person who was supposed to be dead, a murder and you have a great whodunit. This has a great deal of suspense and twists throughout the book. Great character build up that allowed the reader to see how flawed they were. Walsh has a brilliant mind with a great storytelling ability. I cannot wait to read more.

Thank you to NetGalley as well as Walsh and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my unbiased and honest review
When Claire suddenly marries the perfect man after losing her first husband, her children are surprised. But what they discover while spending a long weekend in his manor in the woods will surprise them even more! Who is George really? And what secrets does his family keep? This page turner had some good twists and plot building. I wish the ending didn’t feel so rushed and I think some of the characters needed more depth to make them believable. Overall worth the read. Thank you NetGalley for the digital copy.
A very twisty book which kept me interested all the way through. A clever story full to the brim with twists and turns so much so I didn't want to finish it. Definitely worth more than five stars. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
This was a hard book to follow. So much going on and many different people to follow. There were times when I was completely confused. It was a good book dont get me wrong, just a lot going on to keep up with.
I received this book as an advanced copy from NetGalley
So, you think your husband is dead and you are starting to get your life back together.... and then bam!! He shows up on your wedding day to another man.
I really got into this book, very well written and a good story! I will be looking for more books from this author!
A brilliant read from Triona. A gripping tale of two families which feature a missing father presumed dead, a daughter who is a recovering alcoholic addict a man who’s hobby is finding vulnerable women to swindle. Add to that a bit old house on acres of overgrown fields and you have a great story.
