Without giving too much away I found this to be a fast paced, absorbing and compelling read. The story flowed really well, there were lots of plot twists to keep my attention. The further I read with this book, the better it got and I enjoyed it more. I think the author has set the bar high here. Will look forward to the next book and hope it is as good as this one. Overall 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This talented author has written a cannot put down page turner. Realistic characters keep the story moving quickly. Secrets and red herrings add to the intrigue. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. This book would make a great movie. It is fiction but could be nonfiction. It happens.
After her husband, Declan O’Shea’ died, Claire has worked hard to keep her and her children's lives on track. It's hard when her daughter had developed a substance abuse issue and had to spend time in rehab.
Now it's time for new beginnings as the family treks to a remote estate for a Claire's wedding. Her husband-to-be
has planned for everything and the kids are hoping to start anew. But a storm cuts off contact from the rest of the country and from the shadows Declan himself emerges and claims he is here to earn back Claire's heart!
It's a quick moving story with lots of red herrings. If you love a wedding or vacation-gone-wrong The Party is for you! #bookouture #TheParty
Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, Revenge, A kind of a who done it, and a few crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
The Party by Triona Walsh was my first read from this author, and I must say that I will be following her work moving forward.
Claire has found happiness again with George five years after her husband Declan had abandoned his family and was subsequently pronounced dead. His wife and children have moved on, but on the night that Claire and George are to wed, Declan reappears, asserting that the rumours of his death have been greatly exaggerated, leaving everyone completely stunned. It seems that he wants his family back, and hopes to let bygones be bygones. But before the night is through, Declan will once again be dead, leaving a very short list of potential suspects.
This is a cleverly crafted closed room mystery that manages to pull off a few well- timed surprises with aplomb. I look forward to whatever comes next from this new to me author.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
The Party starts out with bright hopes. At a wedding celebration, the wife's "dead" husband appears. Five years prior he was assumed dead when he disappeared and all clues led to a suicide. Within 24 hours he is dead for real.
One of the people in the house have committed the murder. The plot takes a major twist in the end - is the presumed killer really the culprit?
I have to say that I figured out the killer early on in the book, when things looked rather obvious.
Still, a good fast read
Wow, parts of this book left me completely stunned. The author did a fantastic job crafting a twisty tension filled plot. I couldn't put it down!
I really appreciated the atmospheric storytelling, it made the stakes seem higher.
I would definitely recommend this to someone who enjoys reading Mystery Thrillers.
Thank you Triona Walsh, Net Galley and Bookouture for providing me with an ARC of this book.
