Incredibly dark and heavy, but well-written and interesting at all times. I would recommend this only to those who can handle the topics of this book.
Scottie O'Doul is trying to find out the truth behind why her twin sister was in a car crash with the beloved town Coach whom her sister said raped her. Scottie will do anything to find out what really happened to her sister and why she was in the car with the very same coach she told Scottie that had raped her. The whole town hates Scottie, with students bully, harrasing, and out right threatening her, with her mom being an alcoholic, and people stalking her and destroying her house, Scottie has her work cut out for her, it doesn't help that Scottie herself is dealing with the grief of losing her sister and is self harming. The only reprieve she has throughout all of this is her new found love of running and her determination to run the Hellgate run, but that means training and pushing her body to limits she never knew she had. While searching for the truth, Scottie will discover darker truths then she could have ever imagined, and if she's not careful the people in the town will kill her to keep the secrets of the coach. This was a very serious story about dealing with grief and the topic of sexual assault on student athletes. This book had a lot going on and I would not recommend it for anyone who has not read the trigger warnings.
