Could Good Witch Willow predict Lilah’s soulmate?

Lilah Goodluck had gotten a reward for saving the life of the witch that had been hired as entertainment for a friend’s birthday party. Good Witch Willow’s reward was five random predictions that would come true but the biggest two was the name of her soulmate, Alistair George Arthur Lennox and she would die in a week. Only problem was that Alistair Lennox was the illegitimate son of the British king and she had almost run him over at work.

I think everybody has wished to get the winning lottery numbers early but finding out that you would finally meet your soulmate before dying results because Alistair helps Lilah mark things off her bucket list and seeing Lilah in a new light.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Over the years, I've yet to be disappointed by any of Kylie Scott's books, and this was no exception. Lilah Goodluck is the FMC, a librarian/book nerd who gets several unwanted predictions from a witch whom she saves from a car accident, Initially she brushes them off, but when she comes home to find her new live-in BF cheating (predicted), gets passed over for a promotion at work (predicted) and has an improbable encounter with a well-known celebrity (predicted), she starts to get concerned. Her concern is cemented when she correctly chooses 5 of 6 lottery numbers based on the witch's prediction. Since the final prediction is that she will die on Sunday, she decides she'd better start do some of the things on her bucket list and proceeds to do so with the initially reluctant, then more enthusiastic help of Alistair, the celebrity she almost literally ran into in a parking lot, and whom the witch predicted was her soulmate.

When I read the description, I figured the plot could either be played for laughs, or it could quickly descend into serious territory. Thankfully, it did neither. Lilah and Alastair banter their way through various items on her list, but at the same time, there's an undertone of gravity to the plot due to the prediction of her death that is always there in the background. I appreciated that the tone didn't ever get too angsty. Lilah is generally upbeat, sassy, and not at all overwhelmed by Alistair or his royal British family's fame. Alistair is way too serious and desperately needs the shot of joy and sunshine that Lilah brings into his rather sterile existence. The plot revolved around a healthy dose of insta-love, but I still believed in their romance. I also loved that Lilah's bucket list wasn't anything too extravagant or difficult to execute but rather were the types of things I might try to do also if I had received such a prediction. I only wish the book was a longer as I was totally engrossed in it. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

A fun and refreshing read. A little different than what I'm used to by Kylie but I still loved every moment of it.

Lilah leaves her friend early to go home and care for her sick boyfriend. What wasn't planned was the speeding car and saving herself and the Good Witch Willow from being hit. In which the good witch gave her predictions as a thank you. Nonsense really...but when Lilah gets home and the first one was correct. Then another and a third... well maybe its real after all.

In a mood after another promotion being out of reach, Lilah decides its time to leave. Well, after avoiding a car first and then finding out the person's car she avoided hitting was nonother than Alistair. You know, the supposed soulmate.

Alistair follows her to the bar where they talk and she reveals everything to him. Surprisingly enough, he shows up to her place and they make plans. While overtime developing a friendship.

Que paparazzi, a night spent at a hotel and Lilah being invited to Alistair's home after a day out just increases their connect.

They drink and spend time in the library that Lilah is going to set up for Alistair. 5 years later and this house is barren basically. They talk and reveal more about each other and it just flows between them.

As things progress, it becomes a book you just can't put down. It's fun sweet, whimsical, lighthearted, romantic and everything you expect and more from Kylie.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck.

I really loved this book, much more than I thought I would. It was very sweet and I loved the relationship that Lilah and Ali developed. There was also just enough magical realism to make it interesting without it going too overboard. Nothing too terribly serious, but enough depth that I was interested. Loved the Pretty Woman mentions and that one of Lilah's wishes was to re-read favourite books and watch Vampire Diaries! Lovely writing too. Very feel good, adorable, kind vibes from the novel and characters. Will be checking out Kylie Scott's previous books!

Pretty fun read overall. The sex scenes didn’t work for me, I found myself laughing at them but they may work for others. The characters were fun and felt fresh. It was nice that Lilah stood up for herself and wasn’t a doormat type. The romance itself did work well. Felt like this was a new and fresh take on a rushed romance.

This was a quick, fun read. It definitely falls into insta-love, but it didn't deter from the book. It's a fun spin on a modern fairy tale and Kylie Scott doesn't know how to write a bad book. I would definitely recommend this one!

can't think of any other story that would be absolutely perfect as an audiobook that The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck. I laughed out loud reading the story. I am sure I would be in tears if I listened to the story.

The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck is a book that centers around "if it can go wrong it will happen to Lilah". She saved Good Witch Willow from decorating the front of a car. As a thank you Willow blessed Lilah with her future. A future that would not last very long at all.

One after another, the predictions come true. I was starting to bite my nails. It wasn't all good. She was told she would meet her soul mate, a man so far out of her reach that she knew the witch was off her rocker.

That is until Lilah almost runs into Alistair, her aforementioned soulmate. The story becomes filled with tension, shocking moments, and lots and lots of bickering that had me rolling on the floor laughing. Talk about opposites!!!

That man owns the preverbial stick. I was doubting it could be removed. He is awkward. He is unapproachable. He is cold. And yet he can't stay away from Lilah. In fact he helps her with her bucket list while still in denial of any chemistry.

Everything is a first with her. His friends don't make it easy. His mother doesn't make it easy. And when his deadbeat of a dad, The King of England, tries to interfere, let's just say things get interesting. Alexander is determined to prove the witch wrong. The question is does he have the ability to stop what is coming.

After having read Kylie Scott's END OF STORY (2023), I couldn't wait for her next book to be released! The very day I was approved by NetGalley to preview it, I devoured THE LAST DAYS OF LILAH GOODLUCK by Kylie Scott in one evening; I just couldn't stop reading until I found out how Lilah's story ended! The premise of Good Witch Willow's five predictions adds the perfect amount of magical realism to this rom-com full of snappy banter, quirky and memorable support characters, and steamy, swoon-worthy scenes. What makes THE LAST DAYS OF LILAH GOODLUCK unputdownable, however, is her imperfect, fallible main characters who carry the realistic baggage of difficult childhoods, abandonment issues, body image insecurity, and trust issues. Scott's ability to create characters who help each other heal their pasts and move on to create healthy relationships is what keeps me coming back again and again. THE LAST DAYS OF LILAH GOODLUCK is perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Tessa Bailey.

A totally implausible and thoroughly enjoyable rom com! Lilah saves The Good Witch Willow from being run over by a car and the witch, in return, tells her fortune, a fortune Lilah scoffs at until...One big problem- the Witch tells her that she'll die in 8 days. But, she does meet Alistair, the son of the King of England and he's both dishy and kind. He agrees to help her with her bucket list, they have adventures, they become a tabloid item, she meets his mom (who is a hoot). This is sweet and funny (and spicy). As unlikely as the plot is, I fell into it and found myself turning the pages, rooting for Lilah and Ali, and worrying about the 8th day. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. Terrific storytelling and a fun read.

I adored The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck. It's a little whimsical, and a lot fun, and not nearly as dark as the synopsis would have you believe (it has the hea). Lilah is understandably on edge after Good Witch Willow makes some unsettling predictions about her life. When the first couple of them come true, and after a run in with a real life prince, she decides to live her life like her last day is less than a week away. The banter is perfection, the chemistry is flawless. You could call it a little bit of instalove since the entire book takes place over a week, but the build up feels much slower given Alistair's slight reluctance. Ali is a delightful, protective, grump. The entire cast of characters bring so much life and hilarity. Definitely recommed!

Forced. Predictable. Basic. Obvious. Then suddenly turns weirdly and oddly HYPER SEXUAL. Bizarre. I had high hopes for this book, but the relationship dynamic was SO melodramatic, over-acted, and manufactured that I literally could not continue reading.

The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck is a charming story of fate, free will, and, of course, romance. Kylie Scott writes some of my favorite strong, sassy characters, and this whimsical and satisfying story is another winner.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Lilah pushes a self-proclaimed witch out of the way of an oncoming car, she’s rewarded with five predictions: her boyfriend is cheating, she’s losing out on a promotion at work, a list of winning lottery numbers, her soulmate is illegitimate royal heir Alistair, and, oops she’s going to die next weekend. Lilah takes these forecasts with a huge grain of salt, but when they immediately start to come true, she starts to evaluate how she wants to live her life, especially if she has a limited amount of time left. And, after she almost hits him with her car, her new friend Alistair is there to help her out. After all, there is no future with the grumpy, commitment-phobe if she only has a week left, right?

This premise could have been a little silly, but with Lilah as the smart and sassy center of the story, I couldn’t put it down. She’s so much fun, with an entertaining family and bestie, and always has a self-deprecating quip ready to go. Alistair is a fantastic billionaire grump with some family issues, and it’s so much fun to watch their steamy opposites attract relationship develop.

And as for the last prediction? You’ll have to read for yourself. But, The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck is a romance, with a touch of the mystical, and of course an HEA. If you love a fun, opposites attract romance, with whimsy, steam and banter galore, you’ll adore Lilah and Alistair.

Fairytale lovers – this one’s for you!

Gah!

The way I really really loved Alistair Lennox in all his grumpy, grumbly, growly glory. Good gravy, I loved the chemistry between him and Lilah. I loved the way they bantered, and how she gave as good as she got. I loved how unimpressed she was with Alistair and I loved how he seemed to fall for her against his will and maybe without even realizing it. They were so cute together. So perfectly paired. And my fairytale loving heart gobbled it right up.

The storyline was just offbeat enough to keep me entertained without being over-the-top or too much. It was a little bit silly, a little bit sweet, a bit spicy, and it did things to my heart. Flippy, fluttery, swoony things. And I loved every single minute. This story was an absolute delight to read and recommended for those looking to be swept off their feet (in a grumbly, grumpy way). ~ 4.5 Stars

REVIEW
cw: mentions of death, bullying, anxiety
When Lilah saves the life of a witch, she's rewarded with five predictions. She's naturally skeptical, but when three almost immediately come true, she's left with meeting of her soulmate, and the date of her death, one week from now. When she meets the debonair Alistair Lennox, the illegitimate son of royalty, and aforementioned soulmate, she starts to make a bucket list. Just in case...
What an absolute delight again from Kylie Scott! I was so intrigued by this title, and the storyline captured me immediately. I loved Lilah. She was so authentically herself, and I couldn't help but root for her. I loved her sense of humour and levity, despite what must have been a terrible shock. Meanwhile, Alistair was such an interesting character. I love a MMC who acts cagey but you just know he'll be there for the FMC, and Alistair was all that and more. The development of their relationship felt so natural and even though it all happened over the course of a week, it never felt rushed. Their banter sparkled, and their chemistry sizzled, and they were so swoon-worthy together. I loved the bucket list moments, and how attentive Alistair was to Lilah's mood.
The subplot surrounding Alistair and his family was also fun.
There were some great supporting characters. I loved Alistair's business partners, especially Gael (please let him get a book of his own), Alistair's mother was a riot, and Dougal was sweet, yet hilarious.
I won't spoil the ending, but I will say it was thoroughly satisfying and adorable.
An absolute joy. Highly recommended.

Favourite Quotes:

“Fortunate you’re not a shouter,” he whispers, his breath warm against my ear. “But we will work on that for future reference. As a woman in today’s society, it’s important to make yourself heard.”

“What I’m trying to say is you’re worth any hassle or disruption. Of course, you are. Please don’t think otherwise.”

The smile he gives me is beautiful . “ Thank you for coming to my rescue, Lilah."
“Anytime.”

"I will always have your daughter’s back,” he says. “Whatever may happen and whether she likes it or not.”
“That sounds like a threat.”
He glances at me. “It was meant as a promise.”

“Nothing is going to happen to you, Lilah. I won’t allow it. It took me a long time to find you, I refuse to lose you now.”

Lilah saves Good Witch Willow's life and get's some premonitions: the winning lottery numbers, the fact that her boyfriend is cheating on her, that she will get passed up for a promotion again, the name of her soulmate (illegitimate son of the King of England Alistair Lennox, and her death date (the following Sunday).

Wow. I LOVED this book. Scott has such a great writing style that I fell right into. Lilah is one of the best FMCs I've read in a while. She's comfortable with herself and has the most amazing sense of humor. I was laughing out loud for most of this book. Lilah's banter with Alistair is some of my favorite in any book. And Alistair...he is a dream. I adored everything about him. He's smooth and yet vulnerable, hard yet caring. New book boyfriend for sure!

This book brought up some really interesting thoughts on what you do with your life with the idea of destiny at play. I felt for Lilah so much as she dealt with some crazy situations.

All in all, this was an amazing romcom with some good spice!

Thank you to the publisher and author for the gifted copy!

What a fun read, I couldn't put it down. Lilah has a mishap which leads her to a free 'reading' about her life. The last one being her life is about to end in about a week. She wins lotto, meets her alledged soulmate and other things told to her. She can't possibly die in a week! Her bucket list became fun as did the illegitimate son of the British king Alastair in her life. He can't possibly be interested in her and yet as time marches on that week he is intrigued by her and determine? You'll have to read to find out.
I highly recommend this story, I loved it.

What a cute, quick little novel. Immediately captured by the story of a woman who learns of 5 predictions of her life, including her soulmates identity and she is to die in a weeks time! She spends the following week grappling with believing the outlandish claims and living life to the fullest - while falling in love. The supernatural aspects of the story allow for the pace of the romance to feel a little less jarring, it’s only a week after all! It’s a quick, witty romance and ultimately an enjoyable lighthearted read.

I loved this book! I was a little skeptical about the premise, but it played out beautifully. The story is funny, warm, and emotional. I’ll definitely be looking for more by this author.
