I love Amanda Ronconi's narration. She's perfect for paranormal cosy mystery and urban fantasy.

I didn't realise that this book was written by an author who's been on my TBR for ages, but at the mention of Beechwood Harbour it clicked. If this is a sample of her work, I can't wait to get to her other books when I'm next in the mood for cosy mystery. I've been reading a lot of heavier books recently and this was the perfect antidote - fun, light and frothy with an enjoyable mystery and a likeable cast. If you're a fan of Molly Harper then you're sure to love this (albeit without the smut!) Really enjoyed this book and will definitely check out the sequel.

This is my second book in a row of short but fun reads. I would probably classify this one as a paranormal cozy mystery. We have our main character, Blair, who witnesses a vampire attack and then she herself is hunted by the vampire. When said vampire catches up to her she turns in to a cat...for the first time ever. Up until this point everything in Blair's life has been normal, no magic involved.

Blair gets whisked away to Beechwood Inn to figure out who or what she is and how to control her budding powers. Of course there are mysteries involved that Blair and her new friends take upon themselves to uncover.

I found the whole story pretty delightful, it was a fun read with lots of potential for the upcoming books. I learned after the fact that this is sort of a spinoff of a previous series with some of the same characters. I may have to go check those out.

With this book I feel like there was a perfect amount of humor mixed with the budding friendships and discovery of self. It was all very light and would be a perfect summer read (any season really) as you can relax at the beach and dive into this story relatively quickly. The whole vampire beginning story, kind of gets resolved, but it's more of an after thought. I hope we have more background on what happened there in future books.

Witches in the Kitchen is a very cozy paranormal mystery. The beginning was very interesting with the vampire that lands the MC in a magical world. The rest is a very quaint story. There is a romance subplot that will most likely be explored more in the next book.
The narrator, Amanda Ronconi did a wonderful job. Her voice is great and kept me engaged.
I think this would be perfect for readers who are wanting to tip their toes in a paranormal mystery read that doesn’t have a lot of paranormal magical elements.
Story: 3.5 star
Audiobook: 4 star
A very special thanks to Netgalley and Tantor Media for the ALC.

A cute cozy paranormal mystery with just a hint of romance. This is a first in a new series and I’m definitely intrigued to see what else is going to happen. The audio was so easy to listen too I completely missed that the book ended. This was definitely a light easy listen but I do wish there was a little more mystery in it. The romance was light and set it up for what may come in future books. I'm curious to see what other books this author has written as I expect I'd enjoy them. The magical town is one that I was loving.

I love these characters! The way the author wove the paranormal aspect into the main character's life is really fun. I have to confess that I may have laughed out loud while in public and listening to this book, leaving people to think that I'm the crazy one! The narrator really brought the characters and their emotions to life and helped make the mystery even better. I love that the author took a somewhat reclusive character and connected her with a friend base especially since the character is a bit older. I appreciate that the author is saying that it is never too late to find your tribe! This book series will definitely be going on my must listen list! Between the authors skillful crafting of interpersonal relationships wrapped delightfully throughout the mystery and the narrator's ability to bring the characters to life, it's an automatic to be listened too from me! I can't wait to listen to more from these characters!

This was a really cute, lighthearted book. I really enjoyed listening to this and thought the narrator did a great job. It was a little mystery, a little romance, and a lot of paranormal. The MC witnesses something she's not supposed to see, and it sets off a series of events that lead her to an Inn for paranormals. There, she finds friendship and a potential love interest. Very cute!

Witches in the Kitchen is the first of the in the Magic Inn Paranormal Mysteries series, which is apparently a spin-off of the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries series. I hav never read the Harbor series and didn’t feel like I missed anything. I guess some of the secondary characters are from that series originally, but I felt like everyone was introduced well.

It’s a fun read. Our main character, Blair, discovers she’s a witch by accidentally turning into a cat when she is in a life-threatening situation. The Supernatural Protection Agency steps in and she is moved to Beechwood Inn for her safety and to learn more about controlling her powers.

I liked Blair. The life she’s been leading up to now is a bit boring and a bit lonely. But learning that magic is real has thrown her for quite a loop. She’s sweet and nice and caring. The inn’s owners, Holly and Adam, are good mentors and the other inn residents are appropriately quirky and magical.

We get a bit of a mystery for Blair to help solve and the start of a potential romance. The world building is well done and the magical people and creatures are mostly types we’re familiar with.

I listened to the audio and thought the narrator did a fabulous job. The book is written in the first person from Blair’s point of view and Ronconi’s voice fit the character well.

Having loved the author’s previous Beechwood Harbour books, I was really excited to jump back into this world. A few years have passed since Adam and Holly’s last adventure and this book begins Blair’s story. Unlike Holly, Blair has no inkling of her magical gifts until she’s attacked one night. There’s a sharp contrast between her lonely and unfulfilling life in Tacoma and the warm, welcoming magical community of Beechwood Harbour, where she is taken after being rescued by the SPA. The plot is centred around Blair’s discovery of the magical world as she tries to discover what kind of magic she has and settles into her new life. The mystery of who attacked her and why, begins to become clearer, but this is obviously part of a longer plot arch which will presumably continue into future books. The narrator, Amanda Ronconi, is excellent, as ever, bringing Blair’s gentle character to life. It’s a joy to return to Beechwood Harbour and I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a fun, lighthearted, paranormal cosy mystery.

This is not my usual pick but I wanted to give it a try. I am glad I did. This was a great start to a new paranormal mystery series. It's so light and while there is mystery it wasn't stressful at all. I enjoyed having a fun quick listen in a new to me genre.

This book was really cute! It is exactly what you would expect, a cozy mystery with some magic. There was a nice romance subplot and a good group of found family. It's a very simple plot with few surprises. The narrator of the audiobook was very good and had a soothing voice.

This was a sweet little paranormal story with a tiny bit of romance on the side. The main character, Blair, is living in Tacoma, WA with a job she hates (mostly) and minimal relationships. She suffers from insomnia, and while up in the wee hours, she witnesses an attack from what appears to be a vampire. When she accidentally knocks a plant off her balcony, she is seen by the attacker. When she is later attacked coming home, she suddenly finds herself as a talking cat. She is taken to a small town to recover and learn how to manage her unique magic. Most of the book gives space for her to learn about the world she never knew existed, but she is suddenly a part of. She meets a wonderful cast of characters, and there is a sense of found family and acceptance in her adjustment. I loved that the author gave plenty of character to Harmony, Holly, Adam, and the children with their unique abilities. Meanwhile, the magical police- Supernatural Protection Agency- S.P.A., (tee-hee, that name made me giggle.) seek out the attacker.

I am definitely interested in seeing how this series progresses. It was a cute, quick little read.

Narrator Amanda Ronconi did a wonderful job of allowing the sassy sarcasm to come through with humor and lightheartedness.
