Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This is my second book by Rosie Danan and it didn’t disappoint! I’m always a sucker for a good enemies to lovers and when you throw in a scorned Englishman and a curse that needs breaking - it’s impossible to resist.

I thought that this was a cute and fun read! The pacing was written very well and I don’t feel like any parts dragged. I loved Riley and Clark together and their banter had me giggling and kicking my feet.

I was so proud of both of them for stepping up and owning their pasts and parts of them that they were wary of - especially Clark with his dad.

I really enjoyed this one - can’t wait to read more!

Rosie Danan is one of my favorite authors. However, Do Your Worst, felt like a let down after her earlier, absolutely stunning works. While entertaining, I felt that the storyline was rushed and that the chemistry between the two leads was lacking. But, the steamy bits were great!

I'm a sucker for romances with paranormal aspects set in Scotland lately and this one delivers. It was slightly bonkers in all the best ways (sex rituals, anyone?) and as usual, I was completely here for it. It's got forced proximity, enemies to lovers, grumpy sunshine and a cat!

I’ve read all of Rosie Danan’s books so far and this one was a little bit different from the others. Not in a bad way either! Riley as a curse breaker was a fun concept. Clark as an archaeologist was a nice balance as well. Overall the story was cute and there was steam like in all of Danan’s books. I will say the tension between the two just wasn’t right. Something was off. Overall still a good read!

Well I’d be a liar if I said I didn’t enjoy this surprisingly spicy little romance. The curse breaker vs archeologist plot line was fantastic and I liked that it was something different than your standard romance. There’s a bit of an an Insta-love feel to it - usually a trope I don’t enjoy but it didn’t feel overdone to me. If you enjoy some spice with a touch of the paranormal and an Insta-love to enemies to lovers again storyline pick this one up.

Goddddd the hate spice in this book was so absolutely fantastic!!! I loved every second of it and the reason this wasn’t a 5 star for me is very specific.

The hate turned to love a little too abruptly for my taste. It gave me a bit of whiplash to go from “hate/enemies” to I’m in love with you all in the same chapter. It felt too insta lovey because of the timeline the book has.

Other than that, the book is amazing!! I loved the banter and the spice. This man has got such a mouth on him and the deal with the handcuffs was so damn funny. I loved the story in general and how she brought it to life, had not read anything like it before and it was very refreshing.

I don’t usually like enemies to lovers but I enjoyed it in this book. Riley and Clark are VERY different. Clark is an archaeologist who believes in concrete evidence and science. Riley comes from a line of curse breakers and is trying to use her families gift to ease their financial woes.

Riley and Clark each have a charm to them that is undeniable. These characters were very well written

This book was really fun and it makes me want to read more of Rosie Danan’s work. Danan’s storytelling is captivating and drew me in immediately. With the mix of magic, lore, and the enemies to lovers trope she has made a fan out of me.

Thank you NetGalley, Berkley, and Rosie Danan for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I loved The Roommate, which made me want to pick this one up, but I sadly couldn’t get into it. Don’t let that stop you from picking it up though - you might like it more!

Do Your Worst is a contemporary rom com with a paranormal twist. Riley Rhodes comes from a family of curse breakers. Clark Edgewear is an archeologist looking to redeem his reputation after a professional scandal. The two are thrown together in a Scottish castle. Clark is looking for Gaelic relics while Riley is looking to discover why the castle seems to be haunted. While Clark fights to get Riley kicked off the site, Riley hopes the curse will make Clark abandon his project. The 'curse' and the castle have other ideas as the two are constantly finding themselves pushed together.

This is an enemies to lovers type of romance. There is a lot of delicious tension between the two as they navigate their differences and the castle. Fans of the paranormal will love the mystic element to the story and the overall mystery. The overall plot of the story is well done that even without a romance, it would still be a good read. Overall, I really liked the book. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope, and of course the paranormal element makes it all a bit tastier. It's definitely one I will recommend to my paranormal romance reading patrons.

Thank you Netgalley for the advanced reading copy! This book is somewhat whimsical, but also very poignant, and I enjoyed the overall vibe. This story includes Riley as a curse-breaker, hired to get rid of a curse in a Scottish castle when she immediately lusts for and hates the archaeologist on site, Clark. I in the end enjoyed this fun enemies-to-lover, curse-breaking contemporary romance from Rosie Danan. I really liked Danan’s debut The Roommate, it’s one of my favorite contemporary romances. I don’t think this really compares, but I also don’t think it’s fair to compare the two - they’re very different books. I overall liked the writing and funny scenarios that the main characters ended up in, and I thought the family trauma bonding worked. Sometimes I got a little confused with the curse story and the story progressed a little slowly, but overall, the writing, chemistry, and steam was great. I recommend for fans or Danan, whimsical contemporary romance, and Scotland.

Cover snob right here! I LOVE this cover! Plus enemies to lovers, sign me up.

This book was so fun. The two main characters come from totally different aspects of life. She breaks curses and he’s an archeologist.

Steamy ✅
Diverse setting/characters ✅
Enemies to lovers ✅
Magic ✅

I don’t mind third person pov but I prefer this genre in first person. Not a deal breaker but it’s just easier for me to relate to.

It’s a fun read.. if you don’t overthink the mystery too hard and just enjoy it, I think you’ll like it a lot more!

A curse breaker and a nonbeliever fall in love! How absolutely adorable.
I loved this story and all the cute and kinky scenes we were given. I’d have to say the cuffs/bottle of soy sauce part was my absolute favorite. I cracked up laughing.
I loved the whole vibe to this story. It was a perfect fall read for me.

Big thanks to Berkley and NetGalley for the digital ARC of this book.

3.5/5 stars rounded up. I’m so sorry to say I didn’t actually have a chance to finish it before its publication last week, but I was glad that that give me the opportunity to also experience the audiobook edition of this book to help me finish reading. “Do Your Worst” was a low stakes, quick paced , Highland romp that I really did enjoy. The banter and steam that I’ve come to expect from Rosie Danan. The enemies-to-lovers was short lived as this book really had an “insta-love” vibe to it, but for what this is, I think it worked.

A cursed castle in Scotland was a great setting for this one. I loved the idea of Riley being a curse breaker. One of the most imaginative jobs a character has had in one of my reads. And enemies to lovers where the couple isn’t too spiteful in their feud. This had all the makings for the perfect rom com read for me, but for some reason I liked but didn’t love this one and I am not sure why. And if you like the description, you should definitely give it a go because I seem to be in the minority.

Riley is a quirky spitfire and Clark was a great grump. And enough spice in it to make me nervous that someone could hear the book as I walked through the grocery store, but no one looked at me too weird. Don’t misunderstand that statement because there isn’t a ton of spice, just enough to feel the heat between the couple.

I both listened and read this one and Shane East and Saskia Maarleveld. Were great narrators. I always think a romance works better with dual narrators. I was lost in the story and his accent is dreamy.

Do Your Worst was such an intriguing read through and through. From the moment I learnt that the female main character, Riley, was an actual curse breaker and the male main character, Clark, was an archaeologist, I was completely SOLD. The background setting was even more fascinating as the whole story took place in the ever-so-mysterious Scottish Highlands, and in a cursed castle, to be exact. I really loved how the sparks flied from the very beginning when Riley encountered with Clark in a Scottish dive bar and they pretty much hit it off rather quickly. What's more, when Riley realized Clark was trying to kick her out of his new project where his fellow mate was hiring a curse breaker, a.k.a. the one and only Riley, their chemistry went off the charts even more so. This story was the perfect epitome of "enemies to lovers" trope and I was digging it from page one.

As a huge Rosie Danan fan, I was beyond glad that she successfully delivered the interesting and original plot design again, and that this book was undoubtedly an unputdownable page-turner. However, the only teeny, tiny little drawback for me was that this book was told in third person's POV, making it just a wee bit hard to fully picture the characters and storyline. It would definitely be a solid five-star read from me if it were told in either first person's or dual perspectives.

All in all, I would still RECOMMEND picking Do Your Worst up as Rosie's writing was so good that Riley and Clark's paranormally romantic relationship would keep you on the edge of your seat for certain. Besides, what's not to love when the whole adventure was set in the exotic Scotland?

***Thanks to the publisher and the author for kindly providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

I wanted to love this one, but I just could not get invested in the characters or the story. Overall, it’s just not one that I especially enjoyed, but because I loved The Roommate so much, I’ll continue to pick up Rosie’s work!

I think I need a break from romance for a while. It seems like authors these days are just in such a rush to get to the steamy bits. Where is the BUILD-UP. Where is the PINING. These two were "enemies" for about .3 seconds.

Plot was also very silly, and Clark and Riley didn't feel like real people until the end. Did make me want to go to Scotland though!! (But that's not hard.)

My Goodreads review starts with: “…this was weird?” Because it was lol At least to me. Y’all this is a prime example of why I need to read the synopsis, or at least part of it. Because I was not expecting them to start talking about ghosts and supernatural beings lol I was so confused. But once I paused it and read it, I felt more caught up and ready to read. Yes I know I’m a mess….. No I do not care lol

Ok so the coolest thing about this was definitely their jobs. We don’t get to see much of Clark’s individual work, but we do get to see Riley in action. Which good for us because Riley’s work was more cool anyway lol But, with that being said, she wasn’t as accepted as she she should have been. Even Clark was an asshole at first. I loved that Riley was so secure in who she was and she didn’t accept any crazy from anyone. Clark was an asshole, but he got it honestly. His dad was so mean for no reason. I hated the way he was ok with Riley as long as she was quiet and not actually working with his son. He was annoying and I wanted him to go away and stop harassing them. (Ok that’s probably not what it was, but it felt like it lol) I didn’t realize it until writing this review that their parents both shaped them into the type of person they became. The problem was, one wasn’t good, and the other was hella defensive. It was interesting watching their stories come together.

The plot was ok, but weird. Lol Well not really weird, just unique. I hadn’t read the synopsis before I added this to my TBR. I just read that it was by Rosie Danan and I was sold. I really enjoyed The Roommate and that’s all I needed. It had so much going on, I just think it should have gone more indepth into what she did overall versus what she was doing specifically for this project. Because I gotta be honest, I was trying to describe this to my husband to tell him why I kept like laughing, but he gave me a strange face and said, “That sounds like a por_o.” And I have to admit, he was right. When she said, “We must complete this sex act to break the curse I just face palmed. Did I read it? Yes, but that’s not the point lol I do also think it could have benefitted to have another aspect to the plot because when she was “thinking” of what could be wrong, it wasn’t really anything happening. They were acting like children and trying to decide if the curse that made him itch was real. Idk it was just weird.

The romance when they finally got it together was also weird. It was like no chemistry at all until they got into bed together. But I still can’t decide if that was because of the type of person the MMC was, or if it was because they were “enemies” and ya’ll know how I feel about enemies to lovers lol I just tried to ignore it for the most part. Luckily I was listening to it. I think otherwise I might have DNFed it.

This was cute, and I’m actually kind of hoping for a sequel lol I want it set in the place they went to after this was over with the two characters the people that were also at the end. I won’t say who because of spoilers, but with the way they were acting at the end of the story, they’re bound to have more chemistry than these two lol

5 Stars

I fucking loved this book. So much. Carter and Riley are one of the best enemies-to-lovers, POSSIBLY fated mates, tropes I have read in a long while. We have old Scottish castles, and ancient curses, and academia, and skepticism, and curse breaking, and, my favorite, “let me put these rare books in the corner so I don’t destroy them while ravishing you”. OH AND MAYBE EVEN *wink wink* A SEX RITUAL. You’ll have to read it to find out.

I love that we didn’t get a third act breakup as the conflict, and that our characters had a ton of growth. The book was massively bingeable and totally what my reading slump needed. I don’t want to give much away, but I will say I had NO IDEA what to expect and this one exceeded my wildest imagination. It’s so unique and wholly original in concept and is one I plan to reread!

Absolutely recommend picking this one up, especially on audio! It’s a dual pov and has two narrators who both do an incredible job.
