The Breakup Tour was a solid romance book, full of angst and second chances with a celebrity as our female lead. I love the concept of the husband-wife duo writing about a fictional couple from the two perspectives. Max was an absolute gem and cinnamon roll hero. His relationship with Riley was fraught at times, but I loved to see how it resolved. If anything, I think I found myself getting frustrated with her at times. She claimed to be a genuine person and always sharing her emotions through music, but would also purposefully use her relationships as inspiration for her songs. While I totally understand finding inspiration from life, it was the fact she was using these people that rubbed me the wrong way. I did appreciate her character development. Overall, solid book and I look forward to reading more from these authors.

Thank you so much to Berkley and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! Right off the bat, the cover is giving The Eras Tour, and I, missing the Eras tour, decided to pick this book up and I'm glad I did! I believe Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka are known for their second-chance romances, and honestly, I'm glad this is the one I started with.

When overnight sensation Riley sees that her ex-husband claims that the album that shot her to stardom was based on him, she calls the ex on whom the album is actually based. Yearning for more from his life, Max agrees to join Riley's band and well... you can guess the rest!

My favorite part of this was definitely how geared it was toward Taylor Swift fans—I mean again, look at the cover! I think the writing felt a little clunky overall, but I still had a good time, so that's a win in my book. Definitely miss the Eras tour MORE now...

Honestly, I expected to love this book. But this has been the most disappointing read of my year so far? Why? Because it is really, really boring. This book moves at the slowest pace... and honestly, nothing ever really happens in it. There is like, one sweet moment. There also is very little dialogue. It is mostly just the 2 characters working out why they aren't together.

This was an ok read for me. I just don’t think this writing duo is for me. I do think fans of Taylor Swift will enjoy the music themes throughout the book. The epilogue was my favorite part. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Emily and Austin are an auto-buy for me. DO I KNOW YOU is one of my fave books. This book was different for them, but I really appreciated what they were trying to do. There were parts I loved, and parts that didn’t hold up for me. TSwift fans will rejoice, though, I think.

This one interested me because I do love a celebrity romance, and the flap copy sounded interesting. I am pretty middling on it, personally. I like the characters, and the premise. The writing is also good, and I enjoyed the experience of reading it. I would say that the pacing is not great and I wasn't super satisfied by the resolution of Max's internal conflict, or Riley's. I don't feel like Max's issues with giving up on his dreams and Harcourt Homes were totally resolved. We really don't get enough about that for my taste, and it didn't feel honest to the story. I totally buy that he doesn't want to be a performer, and that he does love his family's retirement home, but the ending felt unfinished. I did enjoy the epilogue, so this is a solid 3.5 for me.

While I was a big fan of the The Roughest Draft, The Breakup Tour fell short for me. The main character, Riley, was incredibly self involved and didn’t improve all that much throughout the book. This is a Taylor Swift inspired story, and to be honest I was a little offended on her behalf. Not once did Riley try to see her breakup with Max from his perspective. And maybe that IS how Taylor Swift views her breakups (who knows) but if it is, I don’t want to know that and I especially don’t want to read about it. The ending made the whole thing better I think, but overall I was just disappointed in her character. It distracted me to the point that I couldn’t enjoy the book much. Max’s perspective was a little more tolerable, but he kept seeing good qualities in her that I just did not see. Plus his interest in music/performing was inconsistent and all over the place. Basically, it was a fun glimpse into what COULD be the life of a rockstar, but if you are looking for likable, relatable narrators, this is not your book. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc.

I really loved this story and feel that I have many patrons who will enjoy it as well. The musical aspect is interesting and different from other books I have read with similar content. It was well-written and thoughtful as well as comforting. It is light, entertaining and sure to be a hit of "Swifts" and non-Taylor Swift fans alike as it is just a good, cute, well written story!

This book is amazing! I loved that it was dedicated to Taylor Swift and Swifties! This second chance romance about a fictional celebrity gave me big Daisy Jones and the Six vibes and also had a Notting Hill element to it. The story was so romantic and heartfelt, and I love anytime a book includes dual POVs! The song lyrics at the end of the book were a fun addition.

This was a cute book inspired by Taylor Swift… although it ended up making me think more of Kelsea Ballerini’s 2023 tour, where she sang all her break up songs after her divorce while finding new love. Overall that is close to the plot of this. I enjoyed the music industry stuff. I think it lacked making a bigger deal of her celebrity and the past relationship flashbacks to enhance the second chance piece. It was a bit boring of times and I found myself wishing for some more of those elements.

Okay, okay. I thought this book would be a bit too...niche, I guess? But no. I found myself really enjoying this one. Riley, heavily inspired by TSwift, is multi-faceted and I found her relationship with Max incredibly endearing.

The writing from the man's perspective was ridiculously overwritten, to the point of it being nonsensical at times. I was really disappointed in the novel.

This was just so good. I didn't want to stop reading it but I also didn't want it to end. I think I would have given it five stars except at times the inner monologues just kind of dragged on. But otherwise this was exactly what I hoped it would be and I really enjoyed it.

trust me when i say no one, NO ONE, is more devastated than i am by the fact that i did not enjoy this book. i literally screamed when i received the email that i had been approved for this arc, and i was so happy to dive into it. that feeling was, unfortunately, very short lived.

now, i read and looooved this duo’s earlier release, “do i know you?”, and it had me so excited for all the future releases from the authors. i thought that book was so well written, the characters were so real and complex, and the romance was slow and realistic and heartwarming.

this book, however, is pretty much the antithesis of their previous novel to me. i don’t want to get in to too many details, because i’m recovering from a broken heart, but this hit the mark with me severely.

i struggled to stay interested in the novel, as the plot was so bare and unnecessarily dragged on. i quite literally had to force myself to read this, which was just the most upsetting. this sounds silly, but the entire time i was just so aware of the fact that i was reading a book. usually i’m able to immerse myself in a novel and i just couldn’t with this one.

i also just did not like nor felt for either of the main characters. they both had like one major personality trait and then fell completely flat. i didn’t believe the romance between them either. it was a very hard miss second chance, unfortunately. i didn’t really think they worked well together either, but that may just be me.

overall, i’m pretty disappointed with this one 🥲 but i can potentially see myself picking this up when it gets published to see if i was just in a funk or something, because i really did want to love this one. i really did :(

Taylor Swift fans may rejoice over The Breakup Tour. I quickly wanted to read Emily Wibberly and Austin Siegemund-Broka's latest novel due to finding the synopsis intriguing. A female singer who reunites with a lover from ten years ago to set the record straight? Sign me up!

However; I found there to be a lot of internal character monologues and not enough direct movement happening between our two main characters: Riley and Max. I wanted more talking TO one another and more heartfelt moments on that tour bus!

What these two excel at is capturing the complexities of characters' journeys and growth. Nothing is ever black and white, especially when trying to capture real emotions in a fictional world. This book reads like a well throughout lyric that captures both tragicy, hope, and love all in one verse. There is a flow to the writing that is poetic and beautiful and was really emotional to read.

My one gripe about the book was that it was too drawn out and too much of a slow burn romance. The characters had the same internal monologue for more than half of the book and I was ready for there to be some movement in Riley and Max’s relationship. I think this book is a great women's fiction book because it is character driven and the growth of both characters was a wonderful journey, but as a romance it felt lackluster and had too slow of a pace. Because the main focus was about Max and Riley’s personal growth, I felt the “love story” faded to the background. When their romance became the focal point, it lacked the burning chemistry that usually comes with a second chance romance since there wasn’t much lead up to it.

I think those expecting the romance aspect of this book to be predominant throughout the story will be a little disappointed. But I think those who enjoy a well written story that focuses on growth and character development will really find this book interesting and enjoyable.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC.

This is the Taylor Swift romcom of my dreams, and a book I didn’t realize I needed until I was reading it. It’s an interesting take on the fame that comes with becoming a singer, and what that came can do to a person’s personal life. Riley wrote a beautiful song about a college ex, and yet her ex-husband is claiming that song is about him. As a way to steer the conversation away from her ex-husband, she asks Max, her college ex, to come on tour with her and play the song. With the tour comes spending months on the road together, in confined spaces, and they have a second chance at the love neither of them ever really got over. Riley struggles with her status, feeling like she doesn’t deserve love as the breakup queen, and that she has to continue the cycle of dating and breaking up so that she can continue to maintain her status and live her dream. Max doesn’t want the spotlight, and enjoys his time at his family’s retirement home. The struggle of finding a middle ground of the spotlight and staying out of it adds a nice complexity to the book

I really enjoyed this one. I liked Max & Riley's relationship. I liked the push and pull between them. They had really great chemistry. I liked the references to Taylor Swift and how it showed musicians are real people with real thoughts and feelings.
I liked how much Max was dedicated to his family and Harcourt Homes. But also how passionate he was about piano.
I did feel that there were parts that were a little too long and I skimmed those parts.
I liked the crew and the fun they had on the buses. I liked how the accepted Max into their fold as they could see how important he was to Riley.
I love all the lyrics and how they show such feeling.
I liked the side plot with Carrie, Riley's mom. I liked how it showed moving on after divorce.
I really enjoyed some specific lines within this book. Like this one towards the end:
"I listen, knowing I'll only hear it this way once. Like every love, every rendition of a melody is unique, each the harmonious reflection of the people making the music. Without us to cherish their complexities, to invest them with life, to make them our own, they vanish into silence."
As a music lover I really loved these lines.
There are a few scenes with Riley and Max that were way more open door than I was expecting. But they show how passionate they are about each other.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This is a good read for music lovers everywhere.
