If you are interested in reading Taylor Swift fan fiction, have I got the book for you! It's even dedicated to her and to the Swifties. It's a light and entertaining romance, perfect for vacation and remembering the Eras Tour wistfully.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing a free ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
Riley Wynn is a relatable superstar who just wants to have her success and career even if it leads to heartbreak in other areas of life. Max Harcourt, her ex, comes back into her life because she wrote the hit song about him. As she navigates a divorce, a world tour, and an album about all her break ups, she also starts to fall for Max again. Will they be able to fully rekindle their love, or will it lead to even more heartbreak, one neither is sure they would recover from.
If Taylor Swift’s This Love were a book, it would be the Breakup Tour. Every Swiftie should read this! This is full of love. Heartbreak, iconic performances(reminiscent of a wildly successful world tour currently happening) compromises and love.
This book was described as a swoony romance. I do not think that it was that swoony; I felt that it was more slow and gentle. That is not to say I did not enjoy it, I did very much. I am always interested to find that many big stars who seem like they would be supremely confident because of their amazing abilities, struggle with self-confidence. I thought the book was interesting in that way. Recommended for collections where romance is popular.
This book was a wonderful story filled with references to Taylor Swift. The love story is beautiful and the lyrics are written to perfectly compliment the characters. The Taylor Swift Easter eggs are fun without being overbearing, and they always made me smile!
definitely on the nose with all the music references and metaphors, however if you're a swiftie you're gonna eat this book up and for that it achieves everything I think it meant to achieve. it was definitely an enjoyable read and i loved the side plot line with the mom.
3.5 🌟I was SO excited to read this Taylor Swift inspired romance after loving this duo’s previous work. It follows Riley, a singer/songwriter, who writes about break ups. She asks her college boyfriend Max to join her on tour and what follows is a second chance romance. There was a lot to love in the story but ultimately it fell a little flat for me.
What I liked:
-The Tswift meets Daisy Jones and the Six vibes
-The second chance romance
-The song lyrics integrated throughout the story
-Max’s love for his job at the senior care center
What I didn’t like:
-While the read was quick, I still felt the plot was dragging and it takes a lot for me to be bored in a romance
-I never truly felt invested in Riley and Max as a couple
-The inner monologues were a lot, especially how they went on as Riley was singing on stage. It just did not feel realistic!
Thank you Berkley Romance for the ARC! Pub date: pub 1/23/24
Hey Swifties, if you haven't already exhausted your vocal cords screaming Taylor's name during her earth-shattering, fantastic tour, I've got a sentimental second chance romance book recommendation for you that's packed with Easter eggs and clever references you'll easily catch. The author duo knows how to pluck the heartstrings to create another catchy, deeply emotional melody, weaving a story reminiscent of "Daisy Jones and the Six" meets "Notting Hill."
Our leading lady not only channels TS vibes but also brings to mind Riley Keough (I believe her Daisy Jones portrayal is etched into my heart), and coincidentally, her name is Riley Wynn. She's the queen of breakups, crafting unforgettable songs after each failed relationship, pouring her soul, tears, and heartbreak into her music. But the first cut always runs the deepest. She once loved a college beau, honing her poetry skills and dreaming of a musician's life touring the world together. He promised to be her partner in crime, only to back out at the last minute. She followed her own path to chase stardom and succeeded, yet she still carries a breakup song for him titled "Until You" – the very song her now-ex-husband tries to exploit, implying she wrote it for him.
Riley decides to reconnect with her former love, who has grown into a handsome man in his thirties, using his piano skills to entertain seniors at the family's retirement home he manages. His name is Max Harcourt.
Max can hardly believe his eyes as the girl he once loved with his whole heart stands before him, seeking his permission to reveal the true inspiration behind her most powerful breakup song – the same song he refused to listen to. A decade has passed since their breakup, during which he avoided her music, her concerts, and any contact, grappling with his own regrets, buried emotions, and denials.
Averse to the spotlight, Max ultimately decides to leverage his piano skills at Riley's concerts when her parents plan to sell their retirement home, and his sister questions his life choices. He proposes a condition: if she publicly reveals that "Until You" was written for him, he will join her on tour to perform the song together.
Riley accepts the offer, even though she knows it's a risky move that could reignite old flames. Being in close quarters, working together on tour, unlocks the memory box she had sealed shut for years, prompting her to revisit her own "what ifs." What if they hadn't broken up all those years ago? What if he had chosen to be with her?
The only aspect that irked me about the story is Max's stubbornness and Riley's tendency to sacrifice her own happiness, which hindered them from fully embracing their true feelings. While there were a few unnecessary angsty moments, overall, this is a heart-wrenching, poignant, and beautifully written second chance romance. Oh Taylor, here's hoping you also pen your own love song in the near future!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this wonderful book's digital review copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I enjoyed the story. I liked Riley and Max. They played well off each other. There was a LOT of inner monologue and it got old, especially in the middle of the book. I was ultimately glad I pushed through.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC.

4.5 stars
I really enjoyed The Breakup Tour. Riley Wynn is a singer/songwriter known for her break up songs (I did get some Taylor Swift vibes). Riley asks her old college boyfriend Max to join her on tour. Max chose to work for his parents after college instead of pursuing music together.
There were so many fantastic lines in the book that I kept highlighting. Highly recommend The Breakup Tour. I need to go back and read their other books.
I love this author duo and read all their books, they are excellent at the slow burn and really building the depth of both of the main characters. This one felt a little too drawn out, I started to lose interest halfway through but I am glad I stuck with it and was pleased with the end.
Thank you for allowing me to read this title early.
The writing was beautiful! The music tie in was a common thread throughout the entire book but not overdone with the comparisons.
I would have loved more dialogue. These authors are so fabulous and I wish they would have given more talking scenes. We were in the characters heads a lot. But overall this book is great.
Swifties will not be calm about this book 😇
Riley Wynn has become a superstar after using her heartbreak to create a hugely popular album of breakup songs. The hit song on the album is based on her first love, Max. Riley’s ex husband is using her fame to grow his own and claims the song is about him. Riley wants to set the record straight, but Max doesn’t want to be in the spotlight. Instead, he surprises everyone by asking to join the tour as the pianist.
As a huge fan of Taylor Swift, I loved this book! It has so many fun nods to her, from the dedication to many little Easter eggs of song titles included in the story. This book also included some favorite romance tropes of second chance romance and forced proximity. I loved reading about going on tour, the process of song writing, and a famous FMC. The authors’ writing style is expressive and descriptive with dynamic characters who are flawed but likable. Ultimately, I didn’t want to put this book down when I started it, which is always the sign of a new favorite book.
Thank you to the authors, Berkley Romance, and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Okay, I may not be a die hard Taylor Swift fan, but I enjoyed the parallels in this book. There definitely was a bit too much telling and not enough showing - a big pet peeve of mine.
Otherwise, the writing and pacing were good.
This is a not-so-subtle nod to Taylor Swift. Like, she's literally mentioned in the dedication. I get it, she's a pop icon or whatever, but as someone who is decidedly *not* a Swiftie, this book fell a bit flat for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love this literary power couple more than I can coherently say, but I think by not being a Taylor Swift fan, I missed something. Even if I did read it in the heyday of the Eras tour. One can definitely enjoy this book without loving T-Swift. I just also found the characters and lack of real resolution to the conflict less than satisfying.
Thanks, NetGalley!
I wanted to like this book so much. I love the premise but I honestly sped read through the last half just to get the jist of the book because I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. The book is so overwritten. No one can just walk in a door, they walk in out of a daydream. A few descriptions like this are fine but the entire book is written this way and I just got so annoyed.
Lives up to and exceeds the hype! This is a fun read, smart, witty and also sensitive to the conflicting emotions that can surface in a complicated scenario like this one. Sharp observations, witty dialogue, and first class entertainment! I recommend this to any romance lover.
This whole thing reads like a nice idea with way to much flourish in the execution. Also, the guy needs a better reason to tell himself about why he's doing the thing he would never do. They leave it as a vague financial incentive, but...that just doesn't math out the way the authors want it to, so the whole situation has a castle built on sand vibe.
This book was everything I hoped it would be. The second chance romance was absolutely stellar. I was so caught up in this love story. I loved the music and touring aspect and the ending was just perfect y.
