This was a cute one for the holidays (or Christmas in July in my case 🤣)
I loved all the bookish talk and mentions of specific books. Becca was true to herself and her hobbies which I could relate to!
Loved the idea of being stuck in the house together. Forced proximity to the max!
Their connection was a bit weird though and a tad superficial.
It was still a quick, fun holiday read! Thank you Netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest review!
I was waffling between 4 and 5 stars, so giving it a 4.5 and rounding up to 5 here! Perfect Christmas in July book!
Thank you so much to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC of this one via NetGalley. These are my honest thoughts!
I'm going to be honest with you... I read chapter 1 of this book last winter before Christmas, and it was just not the right time for me. However, I picked this up on a nearly 100-degree day in July, and it was perfect! There's just something about the Christmas spirit in the middle of summer...
Okay so this is a second chance romance between neighbors who went on one single date. They both thought it went so well, Becca began getting hopeful and Harrison began getting scared and ghosting her.
However, these neighbors are forced to spend time together when the power goes out during a crazy winter storm right when the Christmas break starts at the college they both work for. The forced proximity makes these two confront what happened between them. It opens Becca's eyes to Harrison's quieter and more reserved side. And it makes Harrison regret missing two years with this lady he finds unique, fascinating, and enjoyable. They're nearly polar opposites, but that works for them. And I will say, this book ended up being wayyyy spicier than I thought it was going to be! Here for it! :)
The miscommunication/avoidance of tough conversations near the 3rd act will bug people who hate the miscommunication/avoidance of tough conversation trope, but in this case, it's pretty on par for what you went through to get to the 3rd act, so no one should be surprised. While she fell first the first time, he definitely fell first the second time, and that sweetly comes to life by the end, making it worth it!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
If there’s one thing about me it’s that I’m going to read and love Christmas rom coms every holiday season! This one still managed to delight and surprise me even though I’ve read a lot of these kinds of stories. That just speaks to the talent of the author.
I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity
One of my favorite tropes! So cute.
This book was fun. Its dual pov. It's a friends with benefits trope. It follows a sorority mom, and the football coach who end up in a storm without electricity together. The only thing is they had went out before and he ghosted her. So now they're stuck together through this winter storm.
I love everything that Jaqueline Snowe writes and my goodness was this exactly what I've come to love about her work!
A cute funny read of two people rekindling their romance. Skimmed over the 20 page long sex scenes …they’re senseless to me…to read the funny parts.
This was a great book. I connected with the characters. I felt engrossed with the plot. I would read another book by this author.
A super cute and super funny story to curl up with by the fireplace while it's snowing!
I LOVED Harrison and Becca together! I didn't want the story to end because it gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings that any rom-com can give!
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and author for the copy of this eARC for my honest review. All ratings and any reviews are opinions of my own.
Decent story with an FMC you can’t help but root for!
I thought this one was an OK holiday romance. Kind of on the immature side, but generally fun and an enjoyable read.
This was such a steamy, yet sweet story! I loved the characters. The banter was witty and their chemistry was palpable. The lead character, Becca, was very down to earth and easy to root for. The miscommunication as a trope always drives me crazy but in this book, it works.
The premise of this book was intriguing and something I always gravitate to. However, when it came down to reading it, it fell flat. The plot was not developed wellad fell flat. The characters were, unfortunately, not the most likable of characters and came across as whiny and superficial. It took me so long to get through as I didn’t find myself reaching for it.
A cute and fun holiday romance. I loved Becca for unapologetically being who she is and not compromising. She has a unique job being a sorority house mom and even though people think she needs to move on she loves what she does. Her next door neighbor is the football coach and they end up together over break when a big snowstorm hits. They made a super cute couple and I loved watching them figure things out.
This one has everything! Forced proximity! Bad weather! One bed! Second chance romance! It’s all present! And I did enjoy it. I thought it was fun. It had great spice.
Something that really took me out (besides a third act break up due to miscommunication which I HAAAATE) is how hard they felt the need to lean into the grumpy sunshine of it all. It felt like it was just to the extreme on both ends and it didn’t really work for me.
Fun, but that annoyed me.
I was very excited for this book as it sounded like a fun rom com, but it fell flat for me. I found our fmc Becca to be quite one dimensional and flat in her conversations and character. She had a lot of the typical stereotype of quirky petite blonde girl that I don't always gravitate to. She had little to no character development. I felt the same about Harrison as well. Overall, I just didn't fully buy into the romance and found myself with a lack of care around their relationship. This just unfortunately wasn't for me.
his was a cute holiday romance. Becca is a sorority mom and loves colors and is overall fun and full of life while Harrison is a broody football coach. The catch is that he ghosted her two years ago after what seemed like an amazing date, and now they’re stuck together during a blizzard. I really enjoyed Becca’s character and how different she was. I also loved the snowed in for Christmas plot with the blizzard and Becca and Harrison making the best out of their situation. This was a fun and steamy read.
This was a great adult romance novel! I really liked Becca and Harrison together, and the plot was good. I would definitely recommend trying this novel!
I received an e-ARC from the publisher.
This was a great grumpy/sunshine forced proximity romance. Becca is a sorority mom who underestimates an upcoming snowstorm and finds herself alone in the sorority house with no power or heat and a broken window. Harrison, the football coach who lives next door, realizes her predicament and takes her into his home. Becca and Harrison had been on a date before, but she never heard from him again, so she suspected he wasn't interested. Will Becca and Harrison being in the same house for the storm change things? It was fun and creative.
