I like a good, quick read. This was one for doctor office waiting rooms. Not great but not bad either.

***** I have received and read an e - ARC from NetGalley in exchange for giving my honest feedback. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.*****

I’m normally not a Harlequin reader, but every now and then I like to randomly grab one for a quick read.

It’s not bad, but it’s not great.

Basically take the TV show “Jane the Virgin” and combine it with a standard Harlequin novel and wham! “Impossible Heir for the King” is born.

Worth a read if Harlequins are your thing, but if you’re like me and just randomly grab one, there are more original options out there.

I enjoy Harlequinn romances. They're my go to panacea for relaxation, a palate cleanser between heavy stuff. I totally enjoy the lighthearted predictable romance, it's the very epitome of tall, dark and handsome that every girl dreams of.
This one though stretches credulity a little too far. A pregnant virgin? Maia has been brought up as a virtual slave on her father's ship and on the one chance where she escapes for a medical checkup, she gets impregnated with someone's sperm and of course not just anyone's sperm. It is the young, handsome, charismatic king of the country.
What else can the poor king do but kidnap her and isolate her on his remote island where he proceeds to romance her. Even though he's never wanted to marry until later in his life now he's suddenly in love with a virtual unknown. Soon they're sharing confidences and falling in love.
A bit too predictable but then I remind myself lighthearted fun and it totally fits the bill. It doesn't have to be realistic to be an escape.

This is the story of King Niko and Maia and how a mix up at a medical clinic brings them together. With the line of succession in need of legitimacy, Niko kidnaps Maia from her father’s boat to confirm the pregnancy and insists she stay and marry him. King Niko proclaims their engagement which Maia is unprepared for. He orders that she marry him for the sake of his kingdom and child. For someone living in open waters for her entire life and working for her father, being made to wed Niko is just another form of the cage Maia wants to be free from. Her father treated her poorly and now Niko expects her to bend to his will too.

Impossible Heir for the King is a good romance novel. It is a little slow in places but just keep reading. It is a good cross over novel.

Impossible Heir for the King by Natalie Anderson is the story of King Niko and Maia and how a mix up at a medical clinic brings them together. These two need to open up to each other and talk about their pasts and insecurities; otherwise it will further widen the division between them. As they spend time together on Niko’s island, a beautiful retreat, they work to balance their shared need for control as they unexpectedly fall in love.

I enjoyed this story; especially how Niko redeems himself from his annoying behavior in the beginning. Maia is thrust into an interesting situation and handles herself well despite her naïveté. I highly recommend Impossible Heir for the King to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

The h has been kept sheltered by her father for purely selfish reasons. At a visit to an ob-gyn , she is accidentally inseminated with the sperm of a king. He kidnaps her and brings her to his villa to try and figure out what to do. As they get to know each other, feelings develop between them. However the H starts to feel guilty about not allowing the h to experience life. He sends her off to experience life. However, all's well that ends well.

I received an ARC copy from Net Galley.

A take on the TV show Jane the Virgin, but the father is a king. Niko kidnaps Maia from her father’s boat to confirm the pregnancy and insists she stay and marry him. Maia is only looking for freedom. Her father treats her poorly and then Niko expects her to bend to his will too. What neither expect is to fall in love.
