This book was wildly fascinating. It had ups and downs. Deep Character growth. Very entertaining. I look forward to volume two.

I thought the first volume of Freaking Romance was super cute and funny. This supernatural/sci-fi Webtoon comic follows the otherworldly romance between Zylith and Zelan. I really liked the two main characters and the story was quite mysterious and cute. I also really liked the artwork. I definitely need to read the second volume once it’s released! I think supernatural romance lovers will enjoy this Webtoon comic.

This was a completely original story line for me. It spanned from ghost story to the science fiction without being extra creepy. The characters being able to see one another across dimensions added a new twist to a traditional ghost story in that neither of the characters were actually dead. I would be interested in reading further volumes to see what happens but do not think this is a particularly good fit for our very conservative base of library patrons.

Love Love Loved this graphic novel so much!! The art style is so beautiful. I love the main character. Paranormal elements with quick comic relief. Such a fun and funny read. Will definingly be checking out the webtoon. Must see where this story goes!! Highly Recommend!

I'm So happy to see that wonderful WebToons like this are being physically printed!
Snailords Freaking Romance has been one of my favorite WEBTOON's for so long, I love their art style and writing so much.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

Zylith gets unceremoniously kicked out of her house by her awful-excuse-for-a-human dad and winds up renting an apartment that's haunted just because it's the only thing she can afford. What's haunting the apartment is a handsome guy who moves around as if he lives there and has no idea that she's there, so she decides to just live with it in exchange for the cheap rent. She's getting used to living with a ghost when things take an unexpected turn and she discovers that her 'ghost' might not be a ghost after all.
I'm usually completely ignorant about what's going on in WEBTOON, but I kept hearing about how great this book was, so I jumped at the chance to do an early review. This is why I'm sad to say that I didn't enjoy it all that much. It has elements of a great romance with an unexplained supernatural/magical (?) twist, but it could do with a bit more exploration and details. It sometimes seems like we're jumping around from scene to scene with not much to connect them. And the plot feels rushed and half-told.
I think my main issue is probably the art. It's so messy, with wonky angles, faces, and body positions. There were a couple of panels that took me completely out of the story as I tried to figure them out. I have a feeling that it's what the artist was going for, it's just not for me.
Happy thanks to NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for the early read!

My favorite thing about this graphic novel is the artwork. It's absolutely stunning! It really brings the characters to life. I also just found the buildup between the MCs to be cute. I'm definitely looking forward to finding out more about these characters and what's causing the phenomenon between them. Very cute graphic novel!

Another story that was just sitting in my WebToon library that took me way too long to start. I can't express how quickly I just devoured this and how much I adored it. It was so funny, so cute, so fun. Beautiful art, loveable characters, and a plot I so desperately want to dive more into. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment!

This collected volume of Freaking Romance isn't even the first time I've read this gorgeous story by Snailords; I was definitely one of the ones reading this weekly episodic romance on Webtoon, impatiently hitting refresh for the latest update on whether or not Zylith and Zelan would ever actually meet. But even though this isn't my first time in Zylith and Zelan's magical apartment, I still absolutely devoured this collected volume. Even knowing what drama lies ahead for these two, and Zylith's friend, Verose, I just couldn't get enough.
There are so many reasons to pick up Freaking Romance Volume One:
- The story. The story that Snailords created is amazing and can easily rival any full-length supernatural romance novel. This first volume only gives readers a taste of the romance to come, but the tension is already there. Zelan and Zylith are fully-formed characters with their own personality and problems. They take comfort in knowing the other is there, even if they seem to be worlds apart. Snailords creates hope in a seemingly impossible situation.
- The artwork. There were times during volume one that I had to simply pause and stare at the art on the page because Snailords rendered Zylith and Zelan so beautifully. Between the linework, flow, and coloring, so many of these pages are worthy of being hung up on the wall. I thought the art was beautiful when reading this story in its original format, but seeing all these panels in a larger and lengthier format made them certifiably ogle-worthy.
- The format. I don't think I truly understood the appeal of having Webtoon stories printed in a physical format under now. But being able to hold this beautiful story in my hands and turn pages rather than scroll for a little while each week was truly a superior experience when reliving this story.
- The length. I was initially worried when I saw that Freaking Romance would be broken up into multiple volumes. But, I do think Snailords and the publisher ended this first volume at a great spot in the story; obviously, the story isn't over, but the ending was more sweet than cliffhanger which I greatly appreciated.
No matter how you read it, Freaking Romance is an amazing story with some outright gorgeous art. But said art is only more vivid and beautiful in this printed format.

I wasn't sure if this graphic novel would be for teens, but I feel like it fits better for the college ages since the characters seem to be early 20s or so. I really enjoyed it and will definitely get my coworker to order it for our collection.

Stop this book was absolutely adorable! It was an enjoyable read and the characters were so charming

Zylith takes her chances on a maybe haunted apartment because it's the only one she can afford. It is haunted, or seems to be, by a wildy attractive pop star. This is a hilarious and sweet romp involving a shared apartment, a cat named Mr. Purrfect, and a lot of near-miss hauntings. As we progress, we start to get the sense that it isn't a simple case of living with a hot ghost. What's really going on here and why can both of them hangout with the cat? Can't wait for volume two!

It's cute! Got the ebook through NetGalley and I enjoyed it. I honestly didn't like some of the main characters dialogue in the beginning, but there was some nice humor and I liked the story more as it went along. This first volume certainly makes me want to read the rest of the story on Webtoon. There's some typos in the beginning chapters, and the Webtoon version seems to look prettier, but the way the images were structured for the book-comic format was well done here.

*Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc of this title in exchange for an honest review.*
This book was cute. I liked the connection between the characters and the mystery of their worlds colliding. However, I thought not a lot happened for 300 pages and it kind of ends without anything being resolved. I know another volume is coming, but I would have liked to see the story progress a little further before ending.

ARC provided by NetGalley.
I started reading this series on WEBTOON and screamed when I saw it pop up on NetGalley. I never finished it so I am PUMPED to see it being published in bound copies.
This is such a fun series, very sweet, cute, sexy and HYSTERICAL. I highly recommend to anyone who needs a dramatic story that has some of the best humor. Zyleth is hysterical and also inspiring. Cannot wait for the rest of the series. 10/10

I am so excited this is being published in physical form! One of my fave webtoons! I can’t wait to sell the hell out of this at the store

I loved this! I cannot wait for more issues! The story is amazing and compelling and unique. The art style is so beautiful and magical that I want some panels as art!

I loved this graphic novel so much. It was a really fun and interesting story and I cannot believe the cliffhanger at the end. I need to read more ASAP! The art is also beautiful.

Freaking Romance Vol. 1 is a quick and easy read that pulls the reader in with beautiful artwork. The graphic novel has two POVs and the author does a great job showing the reader the character’s backstories. The text and flow from frame to frame is smooth and doesn’t cause the reader to wonder what scene or text bubble comes next.
The storyline itself is emotional and can cause the reader to become attached to one or both of the characters early on. There are some triggers within the story, but I have a feeling more of that will come out in the next volume. Overall, this is a very light romantic story that many high school age students would enjoy reading.

I was very impressed with this webtoon. The story is interesting and the mystery intrigues me a lot.
I would really like to find out why the two protagonists are able to see each other and interact in this strange way. My hypothesis is that there are parallel worlds to be brought into play or perhaps their existence is in different time periods (a bit like in "Your name"?).
Both protagonists are likeable and interesting and their problems are really heavy to deal with.
Too bad that the designs often drop in quality in a truly tremendous way.
It's definitely the downside of this series and I can't just brush it off like nothing happened.
I hope that as the story progresses this issue will go away.
