Death in the Romance Aisle by Lynn Cahoon is another of her Survivor’s Club books and it is good to be back to Sedona. Rarity is in a good place. In fact, she has hired two new employees: Janey and Caleb, both students from NAU in Flagstaff. Their primary duties will surround the new book clubs the store is sponsoring. Darby, her first employee, is off to Ireland to study for a year. Everything else is going smoothly. Sam’s brother, Marcus is in town to visit. He works in IT so he can work anywhere and Sam is hoping a move is in his future. Archer and Rarity attend a going away party for Darby but as part of the “older generation” leave early with Drew and Sam and go to dinner. It is obvious that Janey and Marcus are taken with one another. The next day, Drew arrives with bad news: Janey’s body has been found near a quarry filled with water. The Tuesday Night Book Club kicks it into gear, all but Sam: Marcus is the prime suspect.

This is truly a cozy series, totally character-driven, although the mystery was a good one. One never knows what will drive a person to murder. It is so sad. Things get so scary that Drew decides that Rarity needs someone with her 24 hours a day, so Archer takes the night shift and various others take the day shift. Jonathon, Drew’s dad has driven up from Tucson and take quite a few of the shifts. She discloses to her that he is writing a book and can use the time to force himself to write. It works and he makes tremendous progress. These people lead magical lives, and well they deserve it after dodging cancer. Cahoon writes a good mystery, with plenty of twists and turns. This one, in particular, used twins, so that is always tricky. Sad to say good-bye to a potentially exciting new character. But, shortly life goes back to normal as the between the book club and the police solve the crime.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Death in the Romance Aisle by Kensington Books. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Kensington #LynnCahoon #DeathInTheRomanceAisle

Super! Book 3 in this series is quite a delight. I continue to enjoy the characters and the mystery was filled with plenty of clues, a few strong characters, and a good number of red herrings.

The Survivors Book Club mystery series is set in Sedona, Arizona. It features a cast of characters that is more mid-30s than 20s. Rarity Cole survived breast cancer and uprooted her midwestern life to buy a building in Sedona and open a bookstore. I have enjoyed the other books in the series.
Death in the Romance Aisle is a wonderful addition. Rarity is expanding the book club offerings at the bookstore. She hires two graduate students to run the kids book clubs. Janey and Caleb are interesting and enthusiastic. The book club kids bring something fresh and fun to the story.
Death returns to haunt the scene and the Tuesday night survivors book club returns to sleuthing. I enjoy how the police detective’s father Jonathan gets involved in helping with the investigation.
Drew, Archer and Jonathan do much to try to keep Rarity safe during this investigation. She reacts with a lot of maturity in accepting their watch care.
I understood the focus of the investigation being where it was, but there was a person mentioned early on that popped up in places they shouldn’t that I suspected. I still wonder why they were mentioned but in the end there was nothing tying up that loose end.
I think to fully appreciate Rarity Cole and company you’ll want to start reading at the first book in the series.
I happily recommend Death in the Romance Aisle.
Thanks to Netgalley and Lyrical Press for the opportunity to review this book.

Lynn Cahoon's books are an automatic read for me. I enjoy her writing style, her characters, and plots. I like the bookstore setting and the food, coffee themes. In this new story, Rarity has hired college students to help the shop and is starting some new book clubs for children and youth, in addition to the Survivors Book Club. They are working out wonderfully until one of her new hires is killed. A connection to the brother of her best friend Sam is making things awkward because he and Janey were together about the time she was killed. To complicate matters, something from his past makes it worse. But Rarity and her friends put their sleuthing hats on to find answers. There are several avenues to investigate and different suspects to check out. This is nice new episode in the life of Rarity, Archer, and friends.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. All thoughts are mine.

This series is full of such well-developed characters of different backgrounds as well as generations that blend seamlessly to make a cohesive group of friends and sleuthing partners! The Survivors book club was started by Rarity, our main character and bookshop owner, for fellow cancer survivors and their support teams, but has morphed into a solid group of friends who also tend to poke into local crimes to help solve the mystery. One of their own is at the center of this mystery and it is tearing at the fabric of the friendships. Can the group solve it fast enough to save the friendships or will the fabric be torn beyond repair. I've long been a fan of this author, but I must confess that this series is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites. The cast is a bit more mature and the relationships more real to make for an overall deeper reading experience. I absolutely can't wait for the next book to come out!

Thank you so much for this early copy! This was such a cozy and fun read. I enjoyed the main character. Great characters overall and a twisty little storyline. Highly recommend

"Death In The Romance Isle" by Lynn Cahoon is a decent addition to the cozy mystery genre. Rarity Cole, the protagonist, is a relatable character, and her journey as a breast cancer survivor running a bookstore and support group is inspiring. The themes of friendship and second chances are heartwarming and well-executed.

However, the book falls short in a few areas. The plotline feels a bit predictable, and the resolution of the mystery lacks the excitement and twists that avid mystery readers might crave. While the idea of combining a bookstore with a murder mystery is intriguing, the execution could have been more engaging.

The character dynamics and relationships are the highlight of the story, with the friendship between Rarity and Sam being particularly endearing. The book captures the essence of their bond effectively.

Overall, "Death In The Romance Isle" is a pleasant read for those looking for a light and cozy mystery, but it doesn't break new ground in the genre. It's a decent choice for a relaxed afternoon read, but don't expect it to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Did Marcus kill Janey, the new employee at Rarity's bookstore? Marcus is the brother of Sam, Rarity's BFF, and they're both worried that Marcus might have....actually done it. But he didn't, did he? Rarity, a survivor of breast cancer, enlists her pals in the book club to sort this one out. Who was Janey really? No spoilers because there are some good red herrings here. I'm a fan of Rarity and her loyal pooch Killer the Yorkie. This makes a fine standalone. Fans of the series might wonder when the relationship with Archer is going to expand but will still be pleased, Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good cozy read.

Pleasant cozy mystery. Interesting characters. Adorable dog. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

This series is more than a cozy mystery. It's about the power of friendships and relationships that can withstand the worst and still be a supportive force.

The Tuesday night book club is at it again to solve the murder of one of Rarity's new hires. The main suspect is Sam's brother and she is not happy about that. She swears he's innocent but all the evidence (and his past) keeps pointing to him. Sam starts shutting everyone out except her brother and the group gets worried. As, they start "investigating", Rarity becomes a target but the club sticks together and helps to bring the murderer to justice.

This is the 3rd book in the series but is really more of a standalone so it can be read without feeling lost. However, I recommend you start at the beginning and read all 3 because this is an uplifting series (for a cozy mystery).

I'm giving it 4 stars because it was a little slow at points.

Sam's brother Marcus is in town and thinking about moving to Sedona. Sam brings him to Darby's going away party and he meets Janey. Janey just started working at the bookstore organizing book clubs. Janey and Marcus go out on a couple of dates and then Janey is found dead. Marcus is suspect #1. Sam is upset at everyone for thinking he could do that.

This one was a tad slow. I mostly kept reading to find out who would kill Janey. I keep getting this book series confused with the Tourist Trap series.

Rarity Cole has hired two college students to help her run more book clubs. Janey and Caleb know each other and get off to a great start. Meanwhile, Rarity's best friend Sam's brother Marcus is coming to visit her. Marcus and Janey hit it off together almost immediately. Drew (Rarity's police friend) calls her early sunday to say that a hiker found Janey dead at the quarry, and Marcus was the last one seen with her. Rarity's cancer survivor group begin their meetings to solve the crime. Drew's father Jonathan, ex policeman, comes to visit Drew and joins the book group. Although the police are looking at Marcus, Sam is sure her brother isn't guilty. Rarity and friends find Janey's best friend, Cara, who tells them that Janey has a twin sister Trish, who is very different from Janey. It seems that they came from a wealthy family and have split a trust fund. Janey left her part to Cara. However, that doesn't stop Trish from going to a lawyer to try to get it.

Then, it appears that someone is trying to stop Rarity from sleuthing. Drew insists that her boyfriend Anders must stay with her at night, and Jonathan or someone else must be with her during the day. Rarity and her book group continue to sleuth, and things get VERY exciting. In spite of her guards, Rarity gets attacked! This is the third book in this excellent series. I thank Netgalley and Kensington books for an ARC.

I've been meaning to read more cozy mysteries, and with this title, this book seemed like a perfect start. (Note, while this is book 3 in a series, this felt like a standalone where I didn't feel confused about what happened in previous books).

At the heart of this book is Rarity Cole - owner of The Next Chapter bookstore, runner of the Survivors' Book Club, and mystery crime solver on the side. As the bookstore is looking to expand activities with local readers, adding new book club events with two new hires, things should be settling. However, when one of those two hired, Janey Ford, is found dead, things begin to get a lot more chaotic.

While Rarity seems a bit like a busybody getting into what should be the police business, she has good connections within the force to be treated respectfully and not as a nuisance. And her sleuthing does turn up some results to move the case along.

A good portion of the book is spent on the community that supports and protects Rarity. I loved how she formed these strong connections that others went out of their way to have her back. I also loved how she promoted her store to bring in more locals who shared an interest in books (a dream job).

Overall, while I think the mystery in this one wasn't so complex, the story delivered on the cozy element. Made me want to travel back to Sedona to find a store like this.

This is the third book in the series. My hearty went out to Rarity when one of her new hires turns up dead at a local quarry not long after Sam’s brother arrives in town. Marcus, Sam’s brother, becomes the prime suspect.
Rarity wants to get to the bottom of this death. I like that she has a strong support system with loved ones, friends, and neighbors.

The author does a great job crafting the story, throwing many clues out to the reader and then helping to unravel them to see which are pertinent and which are not. Without giving away whom the killer is, I found it sad when it was revealed the reason for the death.

I look forward to another book in this series. I enjoy visiting the bookstore in Sedona, the recurring characters, and the bonds between the characters. They genuinely care about each other.

Pick up this book and read it. It is a standalone story but I prefer to read them in order to enjoy the character development and growth.

I was given an advanced copy by Netgalley and am not required to leave a positive review.

I discovered this series through my library on Hoopla. I fell in love with this series as well as the characters. I was so happy to see that there was a third book coming out and even happier that I was picked to read it before it is released on September 5th.
This cozy mystery series follows Rarity Cole and the friends/family she has found since moving to Sedona, Arizona and opening her book store. For Rarity and her Tuesday Night Survivors' book group, solving mysteries has started to become the norm. In the third installment of the series, the group is trying to help solve the murder of Janie. She had just started working for Rarity as well as recently started to date Rarity's best friend's brother, Marcus. This death has caused some issues for the group of friends as this affects one of their own as well as could cause issues between Sam and Drew as he is investigating the murder.
As it is a mystery, I don't want to give to much away. I do want to say that I love the relationships that have been built in these books and am looking forward to the next installment as I really do love these characters and can't wait to meet up with them again.

Rarity and her circle are quickly becoming one of my favorite groups in fiction. I really enjoy the sense of community, the bond the cancer survivors have, and the fact that the police are neither clueless nor crooked. The small community feel really has a place in this volume. Rarity is expanding her business with the addition of two college students to lead book groups for students of all ages, and Sam is welcoming her brother Marcus for a visit and maybe a permanent move if he likes what he sees. When Marcus and one of Rarity's new employees hit it off and start dating everyone wonders where it could lead until, never thinking it will be will Jayne found dead and Marcus as a suspect. This puts a serious strain on Sam and Drew's relationship and gives the Survivors Investagation Group an even more serious incentive to figure out what actually happened. I really enjoyed spending time with the gang on their quest. Thank yous to #NetGalley and #Kensington publishing for the opportunity to join the chase!

This is the 3rd book in the Survivors book club series by Lynn Cahoon.
Rarity Cole is a survivor of breast cancer. She has moved west. She has opened an indie bookstore called The Next Chapter. And, she has found her people. We learn that the book club members not only discuss books, but also solve murders.
In this book Rarity has taken the step to expand the number of book clubs her store offers and that means hiring 2 new employees. Things are going well for the group until Janey, the romance reading newbie is found murdered on a local hiking trail.
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to others. It could be read as a stand alone, but it is part of a series and I’m going to go back to read the first 2 books. I think it would definitely help to see Rarity and her group first met. How their relationships developed. And, what murders they have previously solved. It would help to understand why they do what they do in different situations.
I received an Arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for a fair and honest review.

Death in the Romance Aisle is book 3 in Lynn Cahoon’s Survivors’ Book Club Mysteries series. Rarity Cole has decided to add more book clubs to her thriving bookstore in Sedona. That means she has also hired two individuals to help since Darcy is leaving for her education in Scotland. Janey and Caleb appear perfect for the bookstore. Sam’s brother, Marcus, has also come to visit, and he hits it off with Janey almost right away.

Unfortunately, Janey is found murdered that the local quarry, and Marcus is the last to have been seen with her. Sam is insistent that her brother isn’t the killer, despite what’s in his past. Can Rarity and the book club find out what really happened? Or is Sam devolving into wishful thinking?

I like returning to Sedona, Rarity Cole, and The Next Chapter, but sometimes I have to stop reading because of the repetitions in the writing. For example, how many times Rarity is worried about her dog Killer and his thoughts of being abandoned. Reading it in almost every chapter begins to be distracting. Same with how surprised Rarity is with the community support, and her “found family.” I wouldn’t have expected those sentiments to be written as many times as they were.

I followed Rarity the whole time, in regard to suspects. There was something really unnerving about one suspect, but the killer themselves was who I expected. Their reasoning also made sense but there was an extra piece that I hadn’t put together.

Overall, I rate this novel 4 out of 5 stars.
