Death in the Romance Aisle is an entertaining new entry in Lynn Cahoon’s A Survivors’ Book Club Mystery series. Rarity Cole owns the book store, The Next Chapter, which is a clever reference to not only the books she sells but her fresh start in Sedona, Arizona after beating cancer. Rarity initially founded a book club for cancer survivors. It has expanded to include a few others, and these days the book club can shift focus from discussing books to solving a murder, as it does when Janey Ford, one of Rarity’s employees is found dead. This book has a leisurely pace and is character/relationship driven. I am a big fan of small town cozy mysteries with recurring characters and this book fits that genre perfectly. The series has a large cast and with Rarity’s best friend Sam’s brother a prime suspect in the murder, Sam steps back leaving a void that secondary characters fill admirably. I especially appreciated Shirley getting her time in the spotlight, as well as Jonathan, Drew’s ex-policeman father. I hope that Shirley will continue to have a more substantial role in future books.
Another thing I appreciated about this book is how it highlights the challenges that small business owners deal with on a daily basis. Rarity has started running four book clubs out of her store, each addressing a different demographic and each adding to the number of book she sells. She also has to deal with staff shortages and long hours.
I enjoyed this book and recommend it. I did think the climax was a bit abrupt, but that really isn’t a big deal. The pleasure in this book was in the journey and in getting to know the characters better. Four Stars.
Thanks, NetGalley, for an ARC copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions stated are solely my own.

Death in the Romance Aisle was a good read. Loved the book club turned amateur detectives. The found family has characters that have varying interests and are at different stages of their lives. It’s nice to see how they interact and grow as a group. #DeathintheRomanceAisle #NetGalley

I really enjoyed the third installment of the Survivors' Book Club Mystery! However, I have read the first two books and definitely feel like this one wouldn't be as good as a stand alone read as you need to have the background and cumulative character development to really appreciate the developments and some of the more dramatic events in this book.
I also liked how the author had the main character acknowledge the oddness of how multiple murders seem to involve or be at least somewhat connected to her. It still feels statistically unlikely, but at least there is a recognition of this instead of it being a convenient plot device.
The main character's relationship/love interest seems a little too good to be true (not because her boyfriend cooks and cleans up!) as they never seem to disagree or even get annoyed with each other. Or even if they disagree they never really argue or have any conflict. But that's more of an observation than a real criticism because the dialogue is still well written and not overdone.

I enjoyed my visit to the The Next Chapter bookstore, inside the pages of Lynn Cahoon's 3rd addition to the Survivor's Book Club Mystery series, Death in the Romance Aisle. The reader is certain to find a complex murder mystery with a well-written story line. This time the murder victim is Rarity Cole's new employee, and the suspect is her friend's brother. I enjoy a tangled set of clues that leads to the true culprit. Even more, I love the regular cast of characters who are friends that band together in good times, or bad, to support each other. The small town Sedona setting is perfect for the air of magic that permeates the cast and the mystery.

Rarity Cole owns a bookstore called The Next Chapter in Sedona. She also runs the Survivors’ Book Club in her bookstore alongside her friend Sam Aarons and Shirley Prescott one of the first members.
Her boyfriend Archer Enders the local hiking expert and tour guide,
Sam’s brother Marcus is on vacation and has come to visit his sister. Sam is dating Drew Anderson, a local police detective, and also a friend of Rarity’s.
Drew shares his concerns with Rarity about Marcus’s behavior and how he treats his sister like he’s self-entitled. Besides what was Marcus’s reason for moving back home? Rarity suspects it’s more than just a breakup.
Meanwhile, Rarity’s employee Darby is moving to Scotland for studies and she’s having a going away party 🎉
Fortunately, Rarity was able to find two new hires—Janey Ford and Caleb Thompson who are both graduate students. In addition to running the bookstore, they’d be handling events for the little kids’ events and middle school club as well.
Soon after the party, Janey is found dead at a quarry. Earlier she’d informed Rarity that She and Marcus were going on a date, then going hiking at that quarry the next day. Marcus soon becomes the suspect but Sam believes her brother is innocent.
Overall an interesting mystery. Would recommend. Thank you to Lynn Cahoon, NetGalley, and Kensington for the arc of this book.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books/Lyrical Press for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, number 3. I had no idea. It reads well as a stand alone. I found the title odd-as the death had nothing to do with the romance aisle. I kept wondering about the connection and didn't see it. This is a cute cozy mystery. A fun interesting read. 4 stars I also liked the dog (Killer).

While this wasn't the best Lynn Cahoon I've read, "Death in the Romance Aisle" is still worth the read. Good book!

When Samantha's brother is accused of murdering Rarity's new employee Janey Rarity and her Book club sleuths step in to solve the murder and clear Marcus's name. With Marcus looking like a prime suspect they're racing against time to find Janey's killer and prevent him from being arrested for a crime he didn't commit.
This is the 3rd book in the series- it's fast paced and all around a great read.

First off, Lynn Cahoon is one of my favorite authors. I jump at the chance to read her books. Death in the Romance Aisle is the third installment of the Survivor’s Book Club mystery series. Riley is the owner of a book store. She and her Thursday night book club seem to stumble into murder investigations. They do all seem to hit close to home. This time, a new employee is found murdered and one of the member’s brother’s is the prime suspect. There are, as usual, many suspects uncovered. Can they solve the murder before someone else gets hurt? My only issue with this book is it seems to assume you’ve read the others. The character’s background really isn’t explained. But that isn’t enough of a problem to give it anything other than five stars.

I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. This is the third in the “Survivors’ Book Club” series. I have really enjoyed meeting Rarity and the other book club members. This is a great cozy mystery series that you will need to read the rest of the series once you start. Rarity is really excited about expanding her staff in the bookstore by adding two college students, Janey Ford, and Caleb Thompson. They will be running four other book clubs for the younger residents of Sedona. When Janey starts her job, she meets Marcus, Samantha’s brother, and they hit it off. When Janey is found murdered after a date with Marcus, he becomes the prime suspect. Samantha asked Rarity to help her clear Marcus’s name. Rarity and the book club members jump in to try to clear Marcus’s name. Read and find out if Rarity and her book club members can convince the police chief that Marcus is innocent and that someone else killed Janey. I highly recommend picking up and reading this series.

This is the 3rd book in the Survivors Book Club series.
I randomly ran across the first book a few weeks ago, binged the first and second on audio book and then was happy to come across the 3rd one to review on NetGalley.
I'm loving the characters in this book. They are relatable and down to earth. There are several different personalities and the friendships and bonds with this group is something most adults aim for. And who here doesn't dream of running a book store? Every time I dive into one of these books, I start looking for locations to open my own book store.
And as a crime junkie, to have a book club that turns into a mystery solving club... be still my heart.
I like that this series focuses on several aspects from friendships to relationship to health crises to small town living and of course, the murder mysteries.
Lynn Cahoon left us with some questions at the end of this book, so I'm excited to see what she has in her next installment.

Death in the Romance Aisle is the third book in the Survivor's Book Club series but these mystery solving ladies have done way more than survived they have thrived. The tight knit group has become a family and they circle the wagons when one of them is threatened. This whodunnit will keep you guessing.

Rarity Cole has a new outlook on life after beating cancer and is now putting her time into her bookstore as well as her support group. Her best friend, Sam is excited due to a visit from her brother, Marcus so Rarity is looking forward to the guest as well. Except when he arrives things do not go as planned. One of Rarity’s employees is found dead and Sam’s brother was the last to be seen with her. So Rarity and her squad of sleuths decide that they are going to find the killer.
This has a strong female protagonist that certainly takes the stage and keeps you enthralled. I loved this mystery as it is a fast read with great characters that are very well developed.
5 out of 5 stars

I really liked this well crafted cozy mystery with some really interesting characters and discrete messages. Doesn't hurt that it centers around books/bookseller/book clubs and honest friendships among people who want and do support each other through whatever puts stumbling blocks in their paths. Definitely a very good read!
I requested and received an EARC from Kensington Books/Lyrical Press via NetGalley. Thank you.

Rarity’s book store the Next Chapter, is starting four new youth book clubs. Janey Ford & Caleb Thompson, have been hired from the local college to run the new clubs. Janey will run two clubs, elementary kids and the Mom & Me book club. While Caleb will run the middle and high school clubs.
Sam’s brother has finally come to visit. Rarity meets Marcus for the first time when Sam brings him to the bookstore. He meets Janey and sparks instantly fly. They all agree to meet at Darby’s going away party. Celebrating her next college semester at a castle in Scotland.
Janey is murdered after a morning date with Sam’s brother at the local quarry. Sam goes off the deep end and damages her relationship with Drew. Jonathon, Drew’s father comes into town to help the mystery solvers. He is also working on writing a mystery. Shirley is at loose ends not being able to spend more time at her husband's care center. So she helps out Rarity with the new book clubs. Which turns out to have its own repercussions.
The race is on to clear Marcus’ name. Was someone stalking Janey? Why kill Janey?!
Is Rarity & Archer ready to move in together?

When Rarity Cole's young worker get murdered, she, along with her amateur sleuths, try to find the killer. As all the evidence points to her best friend's brother, the game is on. Enjoyed this one, although easy to skim at times too. Would still recommend though, and especially liked her dog.

Rarity’s bookstore is doing well enough for her to hire two part time employees and her best friend is getting a visit from her brother, so all is right with the world. That is until one of the new employees is found murdered and Sam’s brother is the last to have seen them alive. Once again the book club puts on their detective hats to help solve the crime.

This was such a unique mystery story and I had a great time. Cozy mysteries are one of my new favorite sub genres. This added reading with mystery and it was so great! I think romance readers will love this as well as typical mystery readers. This title and premise will catch a lot of attention and is a must read!

What started out as a cancer survivor’s book club has become so much more over time. Rarity has seen not only other survivors join the Tuesday night book club, but also some others who needed the support and camaraderie as well.
When a new employee of the book store is murdered, Sam is adamant that her brother did not kill the woman and supports the book club’s efforts to find the real killer, even if her brother is a suspect on their list as well. But this is what the club does, they survive and support not only each other, but their community as well. Can they figure out who killed the young woman or will they reach their final chapter in the process?
Lynn Cahoon started this series after her own battle with breast cancer and she has created something wonderful. With a strong female protagonist, a cast of wonderful characters and one set pup, each entry is a triumph of its own. I love all of Lynn Cahoon’s books, but this one is a little bit more special for sharing a part of herself int his one.

#DeathintheRomanceAisle #NetGalley is another outstanding book by Lynn Cahoon.
Rarity Cole is doing well with her book store, and with the addition of two new employees, she hopes to increase
the reading programs she offers.
Rarity's best friend Sam is excited to share the news that her brother is finally coming for a visit, and she's hoping to build a better relationship with him. Things take a bad turn when a body is discovered at the quarry, and Sam's brother is the main suspect.
I like the friendships in this series, the different personalities really make the story flow smoothly.
I'm happy to recommend this series to readers of all genres.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
