It amazes me how much some children need to endure and yet how resilient they are. Tia'Ahlee not only has a heart condition, has had multiple surgeries, takes a significant amount of medication but has also experienced every form of abuse. Yet she remains faithful and strong. I don't know many people who could go through everything she has and still be so bright. This book was a Make a Wish Foundation decision to help her fulfill her dream. She wanted to give hope to others and prove that no matter what, you can be your own superhero. This book was so emotional and really put my own problems into perspective. I definitely recommend.

Netgalley and Greenleaf Book Group sent me a copy of A Child of Faith to review:

16-year-old Tia'Ahlee Maxie has a heart condition that has challenged her since birth. Her medical treatments have included four major open-heart surgeries. Besides fighting for her life every day, Tia has been abused physically, sexually, and emotionally. She's been bullied and threatened her whole life for being different. She doesn't let any of this hold her back, thanks to her unwavering faith and her loving family.

Tia'Ahlee's dream has always been to write a book so she can help others who might be struggling with their health or abused. Tia's dream came true thanks to Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana. You'll be inspired and touched by her words of hope and wisdom. As she reminds us we by helping good people, being strong, and loving who you are, you can be your own superhero.

I give A Child of Faith five out of five stars!

3 stars for an autobiography of a 16 year old girl who was born with a congenital heart defect. She has had so many surgeries that she cannot have any more because she could die. She takes about 40 medications. She has been bullied and abused, both physically and sexually. She is very religious and her faith has sustained her through these trials.
If you are a religious person then you will enjoy this book. I found the constant references to prayer and J*sus to be distracting. It is a short book and I read it in 1 day. This book was published with the assistance of the Make A Wish Foundation..
