A non fiction book on glitter? Yes please! The book details
-the history of glitter, who made it and the main players
-what is glitter made of, the first kinds of glitter and glitter found today
-issues surrounding the making and disposing of glitter (!)
This is a book that details glitter’s polarizing appeal and ends with a call to action, both about mica mining and sustainable practices. Most importantly: the book is fun! The illustrations include those who love glitter and those who do not. The book has fun facts throughout, and it makes the information accessible for young learners.

Glitter, flitter! This informative book taught me so much about the history of glitter. Who knew it used to be called flitter? It was filled with interesting tidbits that my students will find fascinating including its impact on the environment. Unpredictable this will be a new favorite when it gets added to my nonfiction collection.

Fascinating non-fiction picture book on glitter covering everything from history to biology to human evolution to physics to manufacturing and the environment! Wow! The voice is really fun and the illustrations are truly glittery and vibrant. I think crafty kids will LOVE this book. Great as a lead in to art projects with the environment in mind. Thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read early.

I teach 2nd grade and everyone is in love with glitter. I have never been able to find a book that explain glitter the way this book does. I can’t wait for this book to come out so I can read this to my students.

I loved the illustrations as well. It was very visually pleasing to look at.

Thank you to NetGalley and publisher to allow me to read this book in advance.

Review to come around the 20th of June on blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.

Who doesn't love glitter? Well, OK, I am sure there are parents who don't like it, haha. But I am not a parent, I am an adult who loves glitter, always did. It shines, it sparkles. And so when I saw this book up on Netgalley I just had to request it. Tell me all about Glitter and how it works!

In this gorgeous illustrated book we find out all about glitter. Why people love it which includes a lot of shiny science along with history facts. Like did you know that while glitter is quite new, people back then used shiny beetles and mica to get some sparkle and glitter on things? Yep. We modern humans aren't the only ones in awe of fancy shiny glittery things, even back then they loved it and made sure to add it to things to just give them that bit extra! It was fun to learn how the word glitter came to and what happened to make it so. I had such a laugh at seeing who invented glitter and especially that illustration next to it. HAHA, while I love glitter that would definitely also be me if my husband was a glitter maker/inventor. I don't mind glitter, I love it, but I also love a clean home.

I loved reading how glitter was made from aluminium to plastic sheets with vaporized metal. I loved that people are trying to make glitter even more glittery. And more tiny. Yep. If you thought sand was bad and got everywhere, wait until it is a glitter bath. Then again, I would much prefer glitter. A party in my pants. Um. Teehee.

There was just so much in this book and while at times it was a bit chaotic and all over the place (I guess just like glitter) it was a lot of fun and I learned many new things about glitter! Now I am really in the mood to buy a bag of glitter. Well, maybe by the time this review is up I will have done so. Heheehehe.

Just a shame it had to end on a fucking depressing note. YES, I KNOW CLIMATE CHANGE. I KNOW THINGS ARE BAD. LORD. I do my best all I can. But can I please just have a day or so for my mental health without climate change? I already see it everywhere, in the news, on Twitter, in newspapers, on sites, everywhere. Let me just have a fun moment with books, PLEASE.

So all in all, this was a fun chaotic book, just a shame about the doom at the end.

Incredibly colorful, details, bold & fun illustrations.
This is an engaging, yet very educational, book about glitter! I love all the history involved in this book, back to the mention of a beetles outer wings (elytra) and Mica. It is so fun to be able to read about the evolution and history that lead to glitter as we know it, and what we can do for the future of glitter - like biodegradable glitters! I think this book is perfect for children (glitter lovers or not) to learn about the history of glitter, and to learn about the steps we can do to make glitter even better for the earth!

I've been hearing so much about this book and was so excited to see a copy here on Netgalley. I love the format of this book....picture book non-fiction that gives the history of glitter followed by the affects of microplastics, and then giving alternative solutions. Our students will love this one!

Glitter Everywhere! by Chris Barton is filled with fun scientific facts and awesome illustrations. Why are we captivated by glitter? Because glitter is iridescent. Did you know that many beetles are iridescent? Neither did I.... and I absolutely cannot wait to share this funny, informative book.with my students. This is an excellent addition to any classroom library, even for non-glitter-lovers like me!
