Olly and Sasha seem like a nice couple living at the Manor House with their help, Kitty. And their new neighbors, Nicole & Tom, recent lottery winners seem nice too until Tom is found dead in the pool by Nicole. But suddenly not everyone is who they seem and many of them are hiding secrets. Who really owns the Manor House? The police are led on a wild goose chase to try to find Tom's killer (or was it an accident?). Good suspense, short chapters, kept me reading.
A compulsive read - it wasn't believable at all but I loved it anyway. One of those books where you couldn't stop after one chapter and tons of twists with characters you loved to hate.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love mysteries but this one stood out for the well developed characters, a plot where everyone is suspect and many twists and turns. It was not a formulaic book but revealed the truth about the characters as the book went on.
People are not who they seem, a couple who won the lottery face many issues between living in a world of wealth in which they are not comfortable. Then - a murder.
This is a terrific read
Gilly Macmillan is one of my go-to British authors and "The Manor House" may just be her best yet! Great read.
The Manor House by Gilly Macmillan was a pretty good read. It was fast paced with lots of twists and surprises throughout. This book is told in multiple timelines and POV's, which may be a little confusing for some readers, especially if you listen to the audio version. Slowly but surely all of the puzzle pieces connected, as secrets were revealed and the lies were finally exposed. A little bit of unbelievability with some of the storylines, but still a decent book.
