Love trying to duplicate Disney recipes . This is a great resource for Disney fans to make their favorite Disney treats at home.
So much yummyness! Great ideas for fun Disney food at home. Perfect for every family and every Disney lover.
Ashley Craft’s The Unofficial Disney Parks Restaurants Cookbook is a wonderful cookbook that will bring the magic of the American Disney parks straight into your kitchen!
This well-organised recipe collection is divided into chapters on Breakfast, Lunch, Appetizers and Snacks, Main Dishes, Desserts, and Drinks. The book also features a very helpful section on The Disney Parks Restaurants Experience which gives readers some fascinating facts about several of the most popular Disney restaurants like Tiffins Restaurant and Be Our Guest Restaurant. There is also a chapter on The Disney Parks Cook’s Essentials which lists the tools like piping bags and syrups that you’ll need to whip up your own fanciful feasts!
I am a huge Disney fanatic and I cannot wait to start whipping up these goodies! I love that the book features a range of both easy and more complicated dishes. There are approachable Breakfast dishes like Mickey-Shaped Pancakes but I will need a more experienced cook to help me with Melba Crepes (fruit filled homemade crepes!). Simple Lunch dishes include the bright The Sun Bonnet Trio Strawberry Salad while there are more time and labour-intensive meals like Lobster Bisque with homemade lobster stock!
Fun appetizers include the intricate Five-Blossom Bread and the crowd-pleasing Fried Mozzarella. You can also enjoy Jambalaya or try hybrid Curry-Spiced Pizza with from scratch pizza dough! Everyone’s favourite Desserts section features the decadent Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake and the super cool The Sword in the Sweet (a pudding with a cookie sword in it!). Funky drinks include The Happy Haunts Milkshake (topped with a chocolate glazed donut!) and the fan favourite Rum Blossoms (a bright fruity alcoholic drink with boba balls that can also be made non-alcoholic!).
The recipes are clearly detailed and easy-to-follow. Craft’s writing is concise and friendly. She begins the recipes with a brief write-up which can include fun facts about the dish’s history, the restaurant location, tasting notes or serving tips. Many of the ingredients are fairly accessible and moderately inexpensive. Craft also often offers several ingredient swaps. There are several specialty items like flavoured boba pearls and buckwheat flour. But, they are still moderately inexpensive and not too difficult to find.
Also, several recipes do require the use of specialty equipment like a bacon press and aluminum cream maker but, thankfully, Craft offers utensil swaps for those of us who do not want to purchase these things. While many of the recipes encourage creating items from scratch, I also appreciate the use of convenience items like cake mix, Hawaiian rolls, and pot sticker wrappers. There are also great tips for making drinks non-alcoholic and I also appreciate that there are quite a few vegetarian recipes.
The book’s layout is simple, clean, and elegant. I do wish it was more exciting to suit the magic of Disney. I also like that many of the recipes have simply staged but lovely full-colour and full-page pictures.
🥄🥄🥄🥄 out of 5 spoons!
In this excellent book, we are taken on a delicious journey through a number of Disney’s restaurants. All readers are in for a treat whether or not they’ve ever made it to a Disney park, or if they’re hoping for their favorite Disney park dish to appear. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to any of the Disney parks, but I look forward to reading these books because they bring some of that Disney magic to the table. Literally.
This book brings a little information about various locations in the parks and their inspiration. There’s also a section covering some cooking essentials and their substitutes. I don’t know about you, but I won’t be getting a bacon press, but the spatula they suggest is an excellent substitute! Of course, we can’t forget the food and drinks. The recipes are divided by type: breakfast, lunch, appetizers and snacks, main dishes, desserts, and drinks. You can also find which Disney park and restaurant each recipe hails from before you get to the recipe.
Like in Ashley’s previous books, the recipes are simple and easy to follow. The pictures that accompany many of the recipes also look absolutely delicious. I’m excited to make some of these recipes soon as I’m bored of what I’ve been eating and am excited to switch things up again.
If you love Disney and you love to cook, this is the perfect cookbook for you. It includes a map of where the restaurants are located at the parks. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily and this is my own opinion. #netgalley, #theunofficialdisneyparksrestaurantscookbook, #ashleycroft, #disney, #food
Special thanks to NetGalley and Adams Media for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is very easy to follow and is visually very well done. I am so excited to try these recipes.
The Unofficial Disney Parks Restaurants Cookbook would be an excellent gift for the Disney lover, especially one who has eaten in the parks. Recreating the food for a fraction of the cost is definitely a plus. The author gives good background information into Disney foods and the restaurants. There are good tips to creating the Disney dining experience at home. There are some shortcut recipes, ones that use convenience products instead of making the dish entirely from scratch. Not every recipe has a photo, which is a shame. The thing that makes Disney a success overall is that it is very visually stimulating.
The recipes are divided into logical sections, which I have listed below with some of the standouts.
Breakfast: American Breakfast Burrito; Cinnamon Rolls; Mickey-Shaped Pancakes
Lunch: Chieftain Chicken Skewers; Our Famous Cobb Salad; Orange Chicken; Lettuce Cups
Appetizers and Snacks: Pomme Frites; Country Seasonal Salad; Chicken Pot Stickers
Main Dishes: Tenderloin of Beef; Slow-Roasted Sliced Grilled Beef Bowls; Beef Bulgogi; Burritos
Desserts: Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake; Vegan Blackberry Cupcakes
Drinks: Happy Haunts Milkshake; Adventureland Colada; Mowie Wowie
With a helpful map of the restaurant locations, readers can plan out their food in the parks to sample and then recreate at home. The Unofficial Disney Parks Restaurants Cookbook has some good recipes and has an eye-catching appeal.
Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy by NetGalley and the publisher. The decision to read and review this cookbook was entirely my own.
I found this cookbook a little on the boring side.for a cookbook that centers around the Happiest Place on Earth. It was interesting to learn about some of the restaurants in the various parks . I also felt that there weren’t enough pictures to accompany each recipe. Not my favorite cookbook.
I just reviewed The Unofficial Disney Parks Restaurants Cookbook by Ashley Craft. #NetGalley
***** I have received and read an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for giving my honest feedback. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.*****
If you like Disney and you like cooking, it's definitely a book to check out.
There were a few recipes that were listed that I didn't see in my copy, but that may have been an editing error due to this been an ARC.
Overall it's a cookbook with Disney flair, but it's nothing groundbreaking in the cookbook genre.
Loved the second edition of this cookbook. Fantastic recipes and clear instructions. I love that I can have a taste of Disney from home!
No Disney trip is complete without the vast array of accessible food. Wether you are planning a Disney themed party, making one of your favorite things, or just craving a little bit of “magic” in your life, this cookbook is a great place to start. Full of some of Disney’s best recipes, this book is definitely a winner! Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
This book has a good variety of recipes from the Disney parks! I liked that it included entrees, desserts, and even drinks.
There were a few things that I would have helped me like it even more. There are several images of the final product for many of the recipes, but I would have like that for most recipes. Disney is colorful, why not make sure the cookbook matches that. Adding some recipes from parks outside the US may have added some flair too for people that may never be able to get to those locations. Plus where was the Dole Whip and Beignets, those were sadly missed!
The Unofficial Disney Parks Restaurants Cookbook would be a great gift for a foodie Disney fan.
This is a comprehensive collection of recipes from both US Disney Parks. Having never been to Disneyland, I am not familiar with about half of the restaurants and dishes. The author weaves some interesting tips and tidbits and history throughout the book.
I applaud the author for using weights in her baking recipes. Not a lot of cookbooks like this would take the time and effort to provide both measurements. Weighing ingredients is one of the best ways to be a successful baker. She also balances some from scratch recipes with some assemble from packaged ingredients recipes so there's bound to be something for both beginner and experienced cooks. I could see this being a fun family project to try some new recipes or even build a whole meal from this book.
Thank you to Adams Media and NetGalley for the advance reader copy. I am required by law to disclose this.
As a long time Disney lover, I was so excited to get an ARC of this. And it didn't disappoint! With this book, you can recreate some of the best recipes that the Park has to offer. Can't wait to try some of them myself!
Thank you Netgalley and Adams Media for the ARC!
If you're a die-hard Disney fanatic, then you'll probably love this cookbook. if you are looking for certain Disney recipes only, check the index before purchasing as it appears some recipes were included in the description, but not in the actual book. The recipes are very simplistic and easy to make overall. But having ate at Disney a lot, I feel like something is missing from the recipes. They are very close, but not quite the same recipe. So take your own cooking skills into the recipe and you might need to adjust the recipes for 2nd cooking. The recipes all share where in which park they are from and tidbits about the recipe and how it ties in, or about the attraction. As you can see, photos are helpful for newer cooks. Those on special diets will be left guessing re nutrition info however. There are a couple of gems, like the recipe below, but overall it's really a book for Disney fanatics.
Really loved the concept of this book. Can’t wait to try all the delicious looking recipes inside. Felt like the cover design and graphics could have been a bit better.
I am a sucker when it comes to cooking food from Disney. We recently went to Walt Disney World and after I saw some of the recipes we ate, I knew I had to try them at home too. Boy was I surprised at how easy these recipes were to follow. Now that the book is out, I'm adding it to my Disney Cookbook Collection so that even when we're not on vacation, it can feel like it!
i think the book needs to have more flair to it as the cover makes me excited for a whimsical world of color and that is missing. What I did really like is that it gave a recipe and where to find it at. I think that allows you to say "we have disney at home" but it can make family movie/dinner so much more fun. it was missing the infamous recipes but as I am not new to the author they can be found in her other disney parks cookbook.
Charming way for our family to relive some the the magic from our recent Disney vacation. Highly recommended for any diehard Disney fan.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this Arc in exchange for an honest review.
Being a huge fan of Disney, I was so excited to stumble across this gem of a book! What a great way to reminisce about some of the great eats we had when on vacation. I appreciated the ability to try a few of these recipes to see if I could recreate some of the food we had, and surprisingly, I could! Our family tried a couple of these recipes which spurred conversation at the table about our trip memories! What a great book to make us reconnect as a family and remember the good times we had at the park. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an advance copy of this book to review.
